Howdy Facebook friends!

Howdy Facebook friends!

It is around that time of the year in which you are probably thinking about releasing your apartment or looking for a new place. If you are looking for a place, please look to see who owns the apartment complex itself; if the complex is in anyway associated with DTI Investments Inc., I urge you to continue your search elsewhere. As many of you know (or maybe not), I had to move out of my old apartment due to a fire that occurred in my unit. This incident occurred a little over three months ago. Although the fire put me out a place to live, the way in which DTI Investments Inc. and the Gables Apartment Complex have treated me is even more upsetting. After the fire occurred, the Gables did not even lift a finger to help me find a new place to live, even though the fire occurred due to faulty maintenance. After several attempts to communicate with the property owner of the Gables, I finally got a hold of him and he ensured me that I would receive my full deposit back and told me to write a letter stating what I wanted. When it had been a while since I had received anything, I called the complex again, to have the Property manager tell me she could not assist me and that I had to get a hold of their regional office, who when I contacted them, told me that it was the responsibility of my apartment complex. After a while, someone finally told me that I needed to get a hold of DTI. When I called the number that they provided online, no one ever answered the phone, and the system would often hang up on me. After another several attempts to reach the regional office for help, someone was able to give me the correct number and the extension needed. When I finally talked to DTI themselves, they told me that I had to fax them a letter stating what I wanted and that they would attend to my letter in the order that they received it in; by that time, it had already been too long a wait. When I finally did receive an envelope from them, it did not match the amount that I was promised back. After that, I wrote another letter staying what I need again (and faxed it) and when I wanted it by, to which the lady told me responded to me via email stating that they would attend to it in the order they received it in. When the second letter from them arrive, it too did not match the amount promised. I called DIT again, and asked to speak to a supervisor, to which the person on the other end hung up on me, and no one answered my calls after that.
The most upsetting part about all this is that neither the Gables nor DTI has treated me with respect. What kind of organization does not help those who they are involved with, but also repetitively hangs up on them? I would understand them not being willing to help me if the fire had occurred because of something that I did, but it did not. I am most seriously displease with the customer service that I have been treated with and the lack of concern for my well-being. Please take this warning seriously and do not release with an apartment complex associated with DTI or rent one with them.

Thank you for reading this,

This company owns two rental communities in College Station, TX. They are (mis)managed by an extremely incompetent, unprofessional lease manager. Not only were my deposits not refunded to me, I was lied to several times. Reaching the corporate office is a nearly impossible feat. When I did, they apologized profusely, and that's because they knew I could have sued them for treble damages +$100 +attorney fees +court costs. They acted in bad faith with my deposits. Unfortunately, their response was to issue me a check with the former tenant's name on it next to mine and $15 short. Therefore, I may still actually take them to court! Avoid this company like the plague.
