I was in and out within 30 minutes. No issues. Front desk made sure I had everything before I went up to get my license.
I was in and out within 30 minutes. No issues. Front desk made sure I had everything before I went up to get my license.
Took the morning off to get my son a drivers license. We got here early morning. It s now 1:00 pm and they still haven t called him up to the window to even check in. We ve seen over 100 people come and go after us. Anyone with an O in front of their tag number is getting left behind. Renewal and assists are flying through but over 4 hours in and nothing for the people getting original licenses.
Yes their system is actually pretty good now compared to years and years ago. They have the text message system so just because you walk in at four and they say they're not excepting people because they're full and you only see three people waiting doesn't mean there's not other people waiting. And there's probably left and when they get the text message they come back when it's their time
If you are open until 4:45 and you have nobody in there at 4:40. You should actually do your job, instead of sitting there.
My visit this time to renew my license was completely painless unlike many other times before when line ups would cost my whole day. I made it there about five minutes before they closed and was out within literally the same amount of time. Granted im sure all the employees were ready to leave for the day.. but nonetheless; each once was kind and courteous and helped me in and out quickly with smiles their faces.
Busy place. Parking goes fast! Be ready for an hour wait at least but the staff is extremely nice.
This DMV doesn't deserve any Stars "AT ALL". I arrived a few minutes after 4pm and the lady who attended me didn't want to let me do my written test at least because they don't do testing after 4pm. The DMV was empty with a full staff. Closing time for operations is at 4:45pm. There was now volume of ppl at all and I don't understand why ok couldn't do my written test at least.
I requested part of the day off for this purpose and it made me very upset and very dissatisfied. Now I don't know if I can get another day off again.
I guess I will drive without a licence.
Waited 45 minutes only to be told they were "out of time." It was 2 minutes after 5! That kind of behavior would get you fired from a private business in a split second.
Very loud when u are taking the driving test.very distracting talking like as loud as u can.so I didn't concentratre
Very friendly, literally in and out within 10 minutes!! Best DMV experience in 30 years. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable as well. 5 stars!!!!
I applied for my Kansas ID card on May 6th and still have not received it so I lost a good job I could of had and I can't seem to get a hold of anyone to help me and let me know why I have not recieved it yet. Very disappointed!!
Like other KS license bureaus, this place is somehow "at capacity" from open to close.
When I received verification to go pick up my letter confirming that my licence have been reinstated was good news to me after the long hard work and fees were paid off. What was really exciting at this location, is knowing that Kansas driver's license department and representatives were very friendly and nice at this location. I didn't have to wait long at all. I mean, I was literally in and out in no matter of time. Nice job. Keep up the good work. And, Thanks for helping us keep our communities, cities and state safe with driving guidelines and privileges for us all to abide by.
This place is terrible, I went to get my restricted and I couldn't get it because I had the "wrong" piece of paper from the driving school and it was the only one given to me. All but one of the staff members was grouchy. I wish that they would fire everyone and get new staff.
The man I talked to on the phone about getting my permit was very patient and polite. He answered all of my questions nicely, and provided me with some extra information that was helpful.
The wait wasn't long considering the amount of people there
Been here twice (without success) for my 14-year-old to take his drivers permit written test. Both times, the wait was 2-3 hours (posted wait time on-line was 1 hour!). Why is this system so ineffective??? I feel for these employees - dealing with irritated customers all day long. This is ridiculous! WHEN IS A GOOD TIME TO GO?????
Staff was very friendly and efficient, office was clean. I was in and out in no time.
DMV closes @4:45PM and came here at 3:30PM on friday. They didn t allow us to get in line for the reason of over crowding. It happened twice and happened the same to my friend aswell.
Avoid this location at all cost. Depending on which representative you get, will depend on what they require you to have. They are rude and the manager (male in his early thirties) was extremely rude and borderline racist.
Documents that two previous employees accepted, he did not because he noticed I had a Hispanic last name. He literally took a look at my documents, read my name, and asked me if I had further proof of immigration status. I am a US citizen, former Police Officer, and Former Military. The treatment as this location was appauling to say the least.
Checked in on qless right at 7 when they opened to get the coveted #1 spot, only to have computer systems crash and leave me waiting still. It is impossible to ever, ever have a positive experience here...
Smooth, friendly service, even late on a Friday. Very informative website made sure we had all of our paperwork in order for the son to test for his driving permit. Eric was friendly, courteous, helpful with the process. Nice work from the Drivers License office.
I went there on a Wednesday morning for license renewal. The process took maybe fifteen minutes. My clerk, Israel, was very efficient. Got me done and I was on my way much sooner than I expected.
Very noisy place to take a test at. Staff talking to each other from opposite sides of the room. No consideration for ppl testing. Horrible experience!!
Don't listen to the haters. Bring the correct paperwork and reserve your place in line with their text system if you are coming at a busy time. My renewal took exactly THREE MINUTES from walking in the door to walking out. Great work, KDE team!
It was very fast and everyone was courteous but I felt the whole appointment thing was a bit excessive
You get the basics and that's it. People have asked the questions I want to ask, but I have no access to the answers. What's the point of a public forum? Very little help.
They do not close at 4:45. I came today at 4:23 and was turned away because they were at capacity I counted 3 people waiting. The 4:45 time is incorrect.
Terrible service. Armed guards at the door. Why do they need murder weapons at a driver license office?
Defund!
No appointments available for over a month! The administrator of this organization should be fired.
Too small. Understaffed. Closed Monday? Get real! Bored, uncaring staff. Identity requirements far too stringent and insufficiently explained in person as well as on the web site. We are going to drive a car not run for office! Both the laws and processes need to be simplified! And under no circumstance should i have to visit three facilities and lose over six hours in obtaining a driver's license and putting plates on my vehicles. The VIN inspection is a farce that wastes tax dollars on useless effort. Kansas is the poster child for beauracratic, controlling nonsense!
Good front desk service. And 15 minure wait time . Nice woman good service fast return of my new licence in 4 working days. That's fast!
Reasonably easy to maneuver. Took awhile like most. Overall favorable experience.
There are some typical hateful, rude, state employees, one in particular who is power drunk and threatened to have guard eject me when I asked her a question; so be sure you pack your patience along with your documents so you can put up with her bs.
I love the staff. But the system needs to be just like the DMV. Why can i get an eticket but cant get a text saying that there i "X" amount of people in front of me?
Got in and out in less than 10 min. They said Friday is the best day to go and every employee I interacted with was pleasant. Rare at the DMV...
I was dredding this experience. It was sooo easy suppper fast and very friendly people. It went as smooth as a babies bottom. Thank you very much for the experience.
Long lines, most employees friendly but one woman would not accept my original birth certificate because it was too tattered in her opinion-it s 50 years old so I was denied my Gold Star DL. Took same documents to OP office and sailed right through. OP office much more efficient!
It doesn't matter what is required by the state of ks.... they think they are above the state. I had more than what's asked for on the required list, (2 from list A&E, 1 from list C)plus several others, everything up to my immunization record and yet they wanted my official marriage certificate from Topeka, didn't matter that I had the duplicate (not copied) with official signatures on it that was handed directly to me on my wedding day. They still would not replace my licence. I look the same as I have since every other license, which they have on record...its obvious I am who I say I am, but they refused to replace it. Wasted 2 days of my working life there and thank God I found my original license two days later. Didn't have to waste any more. Do believe the other haters, they have good reason, and the "supervisor" is just as bad. Horrible place!!!
I ve tried to get my license for two days now! Get more staff to accommodate the customers!
Little wait time, and reasonable health precautions. Appointments are necessary. Saw more than one person turned away because they didn't have the appropriate documentation, so go over the checklist on their website or on license renewal notice.
No information online AT ALL about any openings or closings. I take a day off and guess what? Closed. Not to mention the nonstop struggle I've had just getting my 21+ license sent to me. It's been right around 8 months or so, come back right around every month and a half so thanks so much for the wasted time and fees. If these reviews mattered even a little bit I would put far more time into explaining everything I find wrong with this but unfortunately my tax money does matter in the slightest, noone is paid to make the DMV better. Thanks.
Would have been higher rating if they taught people in there county how to do the speed limit and not 5 below it, and properly trained them to drive, worst drivers I've ever encountered
Terrible the people there have NOOOO idea what they are doing. Just go to the DMV in Olathe don t waste your time at this dumpster fire.
The staff was efficient and handled all of my needs
I never thought I would say this, but I had an absolutely delightful experience at this DMV office. Checked in online, checked in at the front counter, and walked straight to the kiosk on what appeared to be a pretty busy day. I used the online check list to make sure I had all my documents (MO license, Passport, SS card, 2 proofs of residence) and was able to easily convert my Missouri license to a KS one. I will say that in my experience, Kansas is definitely better than Missouri when it comes to DMVs!
Worst experience ever. If you are not white ..do not go here. Bunch of racist.
If you ve ever had to deal with any other state Johnson County has the most to eat fish hunt way up tag in your car
Worst customer service ever. Had to come back 3 times
Use the q less system. I went at 4:30 on a Wednesday and had zero wait. The staff was nice and very friendly. Better than the Olathe office
In and out with an appointment, and the African American lady checking us in WAS AMAZING! Great CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We were there today 10/08/20 around 3:30 in case someone needs to pin point the time.
Would give -100,000,000 if i could. The workers are liars, snotty, rude, incompetent, and dont know how to do their jobs!
Although upon first entering the wait may appear to be long however the process is very expedient. The staff are quite understanding, helpful and professional mannered.
Very friendly, helpful and quick. Mid afternoon and there was no wait line.
Organized and quick. The staff cleaned their counters and visitors mostly stayed away from each other. The building isn't lovely, but the people are.
I have been to this office several times and the staff is always so polite and courteous. This morning Gerald was very pleasant to work with. I want to thank the Mission Office for making getting a Drivers License a good experience.
They were very efficient. I did have everything ready so it would go well. The person helping me was very good. The appointment was 0940 and I was complete after 39 minutes.
Val was amazing and asked how I was right when I walked up! So did the lady at the front desk, took 15 minutes in and out and was a smooth process!
Called before we came in to do a driver's test get there sit for almost 2 hours only to be told we aren't doing any test today.. I'm pissed for wasting gas and time.
literally just got my license renewed in 10min and the staff was friendly. I checked in online in advance which helped get me right in with NO wait!
I sat in this dmv for 4 hours only to have the staff that helped me be very rude.
This place turned my husband away at 4:15 on a Friday so they could leave early. His license expires and they don't care, they turned away anyway.
Seen a lot of sanatizing going on and masks promoting safe distancing...... but the particular person that was helping me was not very friendly at all!!...... oh well!!
The phone has been busy all day. I've tried 10+ times now and only get a busy signal. Ugh!
Everyone is very helpful here, there is a bit of a wait if you go on a busy day but they try their best to speed things up. Very friendly staff!
Had a 12:15 appointment and was out of the building at 12:29.
Thanks, Julie!
My experience here was shocking. Got my renewal done in a jiffy.
State takes away your right and sells it back to you. Then, opens for a few hours on Saturday, giving a few people the ability to get the license without missing work. Line goes all the way down the sidewalk. Show up at 8:30, they've reached capacity. Take off work or wait another week and show up at 7:30 AM and wait with your kid for an hour outside. Not sure whether to waste my vacation time on this.
Earned my CDL class A permit. Great experience. Quick and knowledgeable.
A horrific, typical example of government nonsense. You can't require someone to have a license and then make it next to impossible to obtain. Privatize this service and I guarantee you it will be more efficient. You can't have three workers serving three hundred people.
Absolutely horrible, I wanted to get a new license so that I am compliant with the airport rules. They ask you to bring specific documents ( birth certificate, social security card, proof of address) I brought them all. The check in people approve my original birth certificate, I get to the counter, and the lady says my Birth certificate was no good. I have had my original birth certificate since forever. I have used it to get a passport in the past. So now they give me a license that is useless at the airport. These people are incompetent.
READ THIS.... They changed the call ahead line system. This is nowhere on web. The yellow renew card the mail you still has old quee system. the new place is "getinline.kdor.ks.gov/webappt "
Takes hours and the computer system is new and has a bunch of glitches.
If you sign in online it is so much quicker and easier in my opinion
Not satisfied at all I'm trying to get my license renewed but apparently I have to schedule an appointment when there is only 6 ppl in the whole building. So im trying to schedule an appointment and the next available day isint till the 1st of Oct and it Sept 1st
the worest customer service....they dont even know what they r doing...
I can't believe how quick they got to me, they had just closed. And I rushed in, late, of course, I asked if they were still open, the guy answered they had just closed but asked me what I needed done anyway, I told him I just needed to renew my license and had brought all material as I had called ahead of time, he helped me and the total time was 5min.! Promise. He was so fast and so nice, I felt like I had gotten away with murder (kidding). But I will come back here just for this reason. Thank your for your random kindness!!
Holy cow that was easy! Not like any normal DMV experience in my multi-decade history. Completely automated and fast. You can even get in line with a text message!
Believe it or not, the appointment method got me in and out in less than 15 minutes. Granted, I was only there for a license renewal, but it was very fast.
After never receiving my first license from this location I went back to try to get another one. I was in and out of the license center in under 5 minutes. My license came in the mail 2 weeks later. This location is pretty much like any other DMV/License center. Some trips will be long and awful, some will be short and sweet. It just it what it is. I'd recommend going on an off day like Weds or Thurs- mid morning or mid afternoon.
Kansas does things weird in that the motor vehicle department is split between 3 locations. This location in Mission is for driver's licenses and ID cards only. This is where you go to get a new license or ID, or to do your driving test for cars or motorcycles (For plates you need to go across the street to 6000 Lamar, inspections are at another location). This is a much better experience than you'd expect from a typical DMV location. Go to the state website ahead of time to find out exactly what you need to do and it'll go much smoother. They've updated their computer systems which has made a visit here less painful than in the past. BEST ADVICE: Use the "Q LESS" online reservation system before you leave home and you won't have to wait (it's on the KS DOR website). If you have what you need (forms of ID, proof of residency, etc.), you'll be in and out in no time. If you just walk in you'll be sitting and waiting for a while.
Went in at 4 PM and was immediately called to the counter to renew my license... Took 10 minutes. Very happy with the service and the speed.
Why you guys are not answering your phone it s sounds busy
I highly recommend getting in line online. Then when you arrive check in at the front desk. I did so 40minutes ahead of time and when I arrive only waited 10 minutes. With almost 50 people waiting. The front desk lady seemed so grouchy. But the older male that took care of me was so polite. Small place but they get the job done.
Actually the quickest bureau I've ever been to and it was clean. They were very efficient
For all foreign nationals , please make sure you arrive 1 hour before the closing time. They turned me away saying that running SAVE verification and uploading required documentation for foreign nationals takes times and they need at least an hour. So unlike me don't waste your precious time with a visit to any of the DMV offices after 4pm. The people working here are friendly but the forced unnecessary re visits leave a bad taste.
