The dinner was very good. Unfortunately few people on dining. Room very outdated, dark and worn
One of the worst hotels I've ever been to. Lousy breakfast, average reception, terrible fitness room that you have to access trough a car park and it's probably haunted. There was some loud banging and scratching all night long. Creepy.
The review applies to the restaurant at Dr. Holms. The food tasted good and I found the service to be good. Fair level of prices.
Missing a bit from what one expects ... lunch and breakfast very good.Cozy hotel that soon needs a little upgrade. Ala carte restaurant medium and variable service ... some very good waiters, some who had not kept up with the class.
The food was good but not a wow experience ...
Well, like everything ok, however, the hotel lives a second life. At night you can hear the footsteps of people above you from the next room, you can hear snoring and vibrations of the phone. The corridor floor creaks. Food very good average coffee.
Friendly service. Delicious breakfast buffet. Delicious evening buffet. Good rooms and beds. Lovely place.
A chicken with a frying is a hundred times better a shameful
Great location, great atmosphere, walking distance to the train
Have been waiting for an hour for main course, have not arrived yet. Bad.
Very island service pretty good food nice reception and a fantastic view of Geilo.
Claims they are a spa hotell, but lacks towels in the spa area, clients have to bring their own towels from their room, they also do not provide bathingrobes nor slippers which seems unlikely for a spa hotell. Although the rooms are nice and the hotel is alright, the sir condition is horrible, which is ironic since the air surrounding Geilo is amazing. I understand that these things might seem trivial, but ut is the trivialities that parts great hotels from average ones.
Very good and decent hotel centrally located. Have stayed here several times and am always happy. Good service, nice staff, good rooms and beds. Very good lunch. Since the hotel opened in 1909, it has been a good and good gathering point in summer and winter.
This place location and inside environment top. Messy and indecisive operation. Lousy service is finally the impression then. Out about a waiter for dinner. Wonderful man
Great service and maintenance! Nice staff and nice rooms!
Very good Both rooms, food and service were tip top
Great hotel, great food great facilities. Recommended!
Simple, nostalgic, full of the style of the last century
I really like it, the view is super beautiful, the accommodation is comfortable and easy to walk around the city.
Very helpful staff at the reception who helped me locate a nearby and high quality eating place when the hotel's own restaurant hadn't yet opened for the day.
Excellent place for relax and peaceful time w family or friends. great walking areas in Geilo as well.
Nice but well worn. Listen. Good breakfast. Must be out of the room at 11am !!!!!!!!
Decent Hotel, Old Style, Bad internet :(, ?Breakfast is ok, room service is fine, some stuff is in your refrigeration, the rooms are kinda small, it depends on how many people are with you, shower is nice.
Old style Norwegian spa hotel (est 1909!) still keeps the original decor. Has an indoor spa, heated swimming pool which we may try (open till 8pm). Nice for summer walks but designed for ski lovers :) The dining and bar look old, but I guess this is their charm
ok for reception, buffet; room (simple but with necessary facilities;) insulation of hotel rooms below par
Extremely helpfull staff, romatic and beautiful bar and lounges.
Nice staff, nice room. Cozy common room. Partly hypoallergenic, a little lack of knowledge in service and poor labeling of what was put forward during breakfast. Great location.
A large hotel but really cozy you can find several places where you can hide and enjoy the cosiness and views. Really good food for New Year's Eve!
Very big hotel. The style has remained intact to the 1900 opening date. Very nice reception staff. Small but clean rooms and very elegant in style. Buffet at dinner and breakfast not great. I expected better given the structure.
Very elegant common areas but informal common structure. It deserves!
The chefs and waiters were good at serving up vegan food for 3 days. But unfortunately due to the rooms we booked were not available when we arrived (they messed with booking), we got old rooms, electronic keys that did not work and an ironic girl at the reception who downplayed everything, makes me not come back and will not recommend to someone if they do not change tone and do not renew themselves. The rest of the reception staff were good. Fight good massage otherwise.
Prepaid stay. Upon arrival they said they needed one deposit which was returned at check out. At check out they wanted me to pay again. The money was never returned. Have tried and call them. Just be told that the general manager should contact me. Chopped and paid "so much" for one tired room that stank of fried fish from the kitchen of the hotel. At least never come and use them again.
Service is non-existent in reception and bar. Rooms, room service and food are what give some stars to this place. Do I want to stay here again? No and again no. Is not recommended.
The whole hotel is made of wood. You quickly realize that sprinklers are not there because they are "nice to have". Carpeted creaky floors, rather incomprehensible hallways / small rooms / hooks. The hotel room itself was a bit worn but ok. Most disappointing was the food in the restaurant: quite expensive, for that price we expected good steak and roast beef. Got Michelin rubber and accessories that tasted absolutely nothing. Disappointing.
Great hotel with nice staff who set up whatever it is. I will come again !! Regards Berit Berg
Very peacefull hotel. Calm atmosphere is really what you want to Relax. Nice swiming pool, outdoor jacuzzi with lovely view on Mountain.
An interesting and worthy old hotel with a newer look
Nice rooms, fantastic spa facilities and friendly service
Wonderful staff. Very helpful and kind. You get the feeling of being constantly watched. The facilities are also very good, especially the pool.
It's like the Hotel from "A Cure for Wellness' - almost exactly. Used to be an old rehab/hospital for people concerned for lung disease (just like in the movie!). At the time it attracted famous people but then slowly became bankrupt and after multiple buyers it's turned into a 'resort'. You feel like your staying at a haunted old-school mental hospital with white/ivory walls, w red carpet riding up the walls, odd lighting, and maze-like hallways where you can't find the elevators easily. I would not recommend it unless you have no other choice in that small town, or don't mind experiencing staying at an old hospital and slightly creeped out. It definitely made my stay interesting and spooky, luckily only for a night.
Have not experienced inferior service, unassuming staff and more dirty hotels since I was in a hostel in Riga 10 years ago. Would believe everyone had their first day, and that the goal of the staff (especially at the bar) was to spend as long as possible. Would have a nice New Year's Eve and celebration here, I would call the whole stay a scandal. I will never ever put my legs on this hotel again. I thought Dr Holms should deliver, after all I have heard, but unfortunately, more tragic experience I have never experienced before. And besides, the food was terrible. The only positive I have to say is that the spa treatment was good. But again, I emailed the long time in advance that my cohabitant was pregnant, this was to be noted. When I got there the day before treatment to pay, I asked if it was listed, it was not, but she should fix it right away. The next day, during the actual treatment (although it would be unnecessary) I asked if they had been told that my cohabitant was pregnant again, again no! Sorry, but do you ever go to Geilo for a good hotel stay, for God's sake do not choose dr holms !!!
Love the scenery and fresh air of the city here. The hotel is close to the train station and you can feel the history of the century-old hotel. The room is very big and a little old.
Started well. Large and nice double room. Tired and cramped shower. Breakfast ok, but cold mirror eggs, cold boiled eggs, and bacon. Great walk in the mountains, tired back they have not arranged the room, says to the cleaning aisle in the hallway. He'll take it after the room he's in. We go out in Geilo while. Will be back after an hour and a half. Nothing arranged in the room. Telling away at the front desk and going out to eat at the sports bar. Simple menu, and small beers. Back in the room: they haven't arranged the room yet. Say again from the front desk. The receptionist contacts the staff and the room is finally arranged at 5? Minutes. The receptionist blames Korona and the lack of Polish staff. In the room, there was no refill of shampoo, the dust dryer was missing, but what can be done in 5 min. Have another night, but don't expect to change this review.
The food was good but the hotel itself was a little creepy, being hard to navigate. It was quite empty during the summer.
Very old, worn and bad rooms. The lamp hung and slang in the bathroom. Not aircodition. Very warm rooms.
Excellent hotel, nice looking.
And book the booking much cheaper.
The hotel said I don't have a single room and the price is 1600 and Choi.
I went in booking and found a single room with 945
Hotel is from 1909, old, without room phone, room is a bit small but very nice hotel. Good breakfast.
Beautiful structure from the outside. Inside it can appeal to those who love old-fashioned style, with animal heads on the walls and an old-fashioned smell. The hotel is a real maze. The room is fairly clean but the cleaning could be much improved. Tiny bathroom for a room for 3 people with a malfunctioning shower. In the evening a fixed price buffet dinner, expensive but with lots of choice. All in an environment that wants to be refined and luxurious, but with a style that is too old. Poor breakfast.
Great location, nice rooms and staff. Bit expensive, but that s common for Norway. Hotel is also a bit old, could use some fresh vibes. Forgot my keys when we left, the staff didn t put a lot of effort trying to find them or send them to the Netherlands. Too bad because we spend a lot of money
Wonderful hotel, cozy atmosphere, indescribable decor. Great food, super clean and comfortable rooms. Even outside the ski season it is a great experience.
We did not stay at the hotel but have rented cross-country equipment here. And that was fine.
Fun bar and great hotel with room needs refurbishment
