Vintage hotel with nice views. Great location, warm atmosphere, good breakfasts.
Great and cozy venerable old hotel with a lot of history .Strong upgrade..submitted bartender in the bar who was constantly around the hotel and arranged with others .. many who went because of. Not bothered to wait 10 min..that great bartender then .. otherwise negative that one cannot speak Norwegian in the restaurant..just only cheap foreign labor..to speak bad english as well ..
An old-fashioned hotel that, despite its historical background and its "promising" white facade, is not pleasant. Small rooms, no air conditioning and even no telephone, next to the railway line, noisy, not clean. There is no reason to stop there
Hotel with soul! Good atmosphere, nice staff, nice rooms, good food! Exhibition of art and old things and photographs was the icing on the cake! We will be back! Regards Dagfinn and Pernille and the dog Petra!
Checked in one night, room was good, with bath and nice view. The service is nice and helpful. Used the swimming pool both on arrival and before departure. We could use it after check out too. Nothing to fault at the pool, in the morning we also had the pool and jacuzzi for ourselves. Remember a tier if you should lock the closet in the closet. The wifi also requires a Google or Facebook account, a bit dull but ok.
This old venerable hotel needs a serious upholstery. And the breakfast is absolutely miserable. Had it at least been good then we had traveled from the hotel with a better impression. But here you have to do better. Breakfast is so important these days. Have been both on Christmas table and lived here in passing the past year. But what can I say ... would have chosen another hotel in Geilo. Good service at the reception and the food at the Christmas table was quite okay good atmosphere in the bar.
Rare prices for "open food" dinner. The rooms also need a refurbishment as they are worn.
Great building, great location. Nice, but somewhat forgetful service. Great bar with a view, but not very good dinner. Standard room.
Terrific hotel with a lot of history. Helpful and friendly service
Ingeniting to postpone your stay, simply excellent service. Would highly recommend this hotel! Been to countless hotels around the world but this one takes the cake
Starting to get worn out. The room was ok. Tiles in the shower were cracked. Dinner buffet was a maximum of 2 out of 6. Dry pork chops with brown sauce. Salt and sprinkle with pepper. Staff was nice.
The afterski at Dr Holms was fun, but very very different from Afterskis from other slopes.
The hotel looks very good at the entrance and in the various common areas, everything changes once you enter the room, from the deformed floor to the almost unusable bathroom, to sit on the toilet you have to stand with one leg resting on the shower and the other with toilet paper ... to take a shower you have to do the stunts because the door of it opens only for a quarter because of the sink too close, a person of bigger build does not enter ... I do not recommend it to people who are not of the place of stay because the staff does not seem accustomed to foreigners and their English is almost incomprehensible (except for a very kind girl at the reception and a restaurant waiter just as nice and kind) breakfast is good between sweet and savory, the food is completely missing English
Very nice hotel! Combination of art which has been collected since 1900s that make it more classic and relaxing. I would come back again soon.
Nice old hotel. Highly recommend Jack Daniels burger in bowling.
This Old historical hotel in Geilo has totally lost it's charm and you will discover that all the rooms and the area outside of the restaurant are plain, some how modern and grey. The bathroom had a sink that almost fell out of the wall. There was black Asian hairs in the bed and the headboard was greasy. There is no longer a library room as it used to be. The swimming pool are not available. The spa are of a unknown company. There are holes in the walls made of fist's. They enter your rooms without asking when you go to eat breakfast. The breakfast was a sad story and it was on the end of the plain side. I did not eat dinner in the restaurant, because it has been getting bad reviews, so I walked over to Geilo hotel and had a fantastic dinner there in stead. This hotel is not my favorite any more. We will not stay here in the future when we go to Geilo. The new owner should be ashamed of what he has done and how he treats a national heritage as Dr. Holmes once was. This hotel could be just a nother hotel, any where in the world that you have stayed in and that you no longer remember. It's not worth the time or the money. Stay at Geilo hotel, Highland hotel or any other hotels at this wonderful destination in Norway.
Wrong price quoted in advance. Had an appointment since we were at an event and when it was payable there was a difference of 1600! Ended up having to pay 600, - more than the original deal and this I just had to accept.
The kids at least cost themselves, but they do not think that it is loud, worn and that the food is cold.
The hotel room was a bit small, the food was lovely. There were a lot of noise in the hallways and several young people were visibly drunk. It was a bit uncomfortable to go with such full people. The Christmas table served is practical. Especially the dug reindeer meat. The ribs were also very good.
80s vibes yet, paid for a double room, got a tiny single room
Great hotel with a good atmosphere. Nice staff and it was a nice stay. Good breakfast and good content on the buffet table. Will be happy to return. Nice room. Nice and clean.
Pleasant hotel with top service. The hotel is nicely located overlooking Geilo. It is also easy to walk down to the center and it only takes a few minutes. The hotel is an old venerable hotel with top service. The place and area is well suited for winter stays and there is plenty to find throughout the year. The food was very good, both dinner in the restaurant and the breakfast. The hotel has several bars and a separate library where you can sit down with a good book and just enjoy the tranquility.
Unfortunately, a hotel idling in the summer with a closed pub closed brasserie inferior service
Great service, very good buffet.
The kids enjoyed themselves in the pool.
Great hotel with a nice historical feel. Both breakfast and dinner are recommended.
Lovely old hotel with charm and character. Walking distance to the railway and town centre and close to the skislopes. Great spa and warm pool without too much chlorine and an outside jacuzzi. Also has a 10 pin bowling alley in a 1950's themed diner that does great burgers and pizza. Takeaway as well!
Have had a great Easter holiday, but it could have been even better if we had at least one good night's sleep. Dr Holms is a great older hotel with fantastic breakfast. What pulls down is loud, drunk people with nachspiel long into the night. Would have been a floor for families with children and a separate floor for partypeople.
Absolutely fantastic hotel. Great service, nice staff, lovely food, great hotel room and slept well at night. Greetings from satisfied customer
Out of series!!! Absolutely wonderful in what I've been touring the world few of you seem. History, luxury, comfort, kindness, the best of the best! Hallelujah!!!!!!
Really like this place. Rooms have been renovated recently and are very comfortable now. Personal is friendly, food is delicious, the view outside is fantastic. One can enjoy skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer. SPA is good, there are a swimming pool 12 m long and 2.2m deep. Jacuzzi both inside and outside. Sayna. Very nice place to spend a vacation.
Very close to the railway station. Easy and accessible. The room is ample and nicely decorated. We truly enjoyed the night when the window has a flow of cool high mountain air.
Great atmosphere and history. Beware of 'the gray lady'.
Check in at the front desk was very fast and friendly. Room already spacious and clean. Nice view but abe dS drives the freight train. Although it was said that the restaurant was open until 21.30, we were asked at 21:10 to get everything we wanted to eat from the buffet, as it was cleared due to new changes in the kitchen at 21 o'clock. Breakfast from 7-9 o'clock. At 9.10am we were informed again to pick up the rest of the food as they cleared away. All in all, good food. Are also open to criticism and feedback of any kind.
Nice hotel and nice empty. But when the guards have poor service, our stay was not as expected. The guard for 60 years is far too strict and not service-minded
Beautiful hotell from 1909. Nicely located om the hill side, close to one of the ski lifts. Supposed to be haunted, but we never noticed anything. Small rooms, some can be noisy, train passes several times at night close to hotell. Food is ok, not great. Mostly french and danish staff. A bit pricey.
One of the most prestigious hotel, staff were friendly and helpful.
Nice staff, but boring when Wi-Fi does not work in the room. Must go out in the hallway to get Wi-Fi
Slow check-in and check-out. Very poor service in the dining room. Avoid this hotel.
All right. Ok room. Fair price. Great reception and great service. Breakfast was decent.
A glory of the past. Place still fascinating, imposing and elegant structure in a splendid context ... but kept a little bad, unkempt. The spa is nice and the outdoor Jacuzzi is very relaxing. There are various damages of wear but what bothered me is that after the stay they asked me for information about a broken window (not shattered but marked) in my room. Damage that clearly was already there when I arrived. They say I should have reported it. Maybe their staff could do it, couldn't they?
To avoid. Old room with lamps with exposed electric wires and defective window. Soapless bath in dispensers. Breakfast with old brioches and little assortment. This is the service reserved for traveling groups
Lovely environment and fantastic food. The service is perfect. The last star is missing because our room did not have windows.
Good hotel with nice view. Very good food little expensive.
Had given the hotel 5/5 it would not have been for the food and an extremely poor waiter in the sports bar when one was going to have dinner.
I also do not think it turns out to have such a nice hotel and then you get a menu that looks like the nicest restaurant with a fairly stiff price and then you are sent to a sports bar with football and screams. The hotel is top notch but the food can just as easily be touched.
Good Hotel. But it is becoming slightly worse than the looks may suggest. The included wellness centre with hot-tabs and saunas is a good way to relax after skiing
October party with music from Ireland. Behind goals.
Great hotel! Beautiful interiors. Very tasty food! Best in Yaylo!
Great hotel on the lake, with beautiful modern and spacious rooms with large windows, beautiful ones with lake view.
Nice hotel, but quite large and apparently especially lively in winter
Downside: we were at a logistics courtyard and staff did not pay attention to their guests: throwing wine bottles in the bin, noise at the end of the shift 23.30-0.00, the garbage truck early in the morning ...
Hot buffet rather limited in choice, starter and dessert very generous
Beautiful area and overall hotel very stately ski resort, rooms very small and remodeling a nuisance
Nice service, but not good quality of food and dilapidated premises.
A nice place to enjoy the silence. Beautiful, with style.
Quirky hotel. In summer Geilo is a bit dead. Hotel has a sixties feel.
Great stay in beautiful weather! First time I have been there but will return later.
Ok hotel, but the dinner buffet was poor and the price of this was not at all in style. Not much smile from service staff ..
Great hotel Nice rooms, but the pillows in the bed are way too damn good.
