Downtown Animal Care Foundation Reviews

We went to the Downtown Animal Care Center for a puppy socialization class and asked the front staff where we check in. They told us someone would be out to get us from the training group. We arrived 15 minutes early and waited 45 min. Finally one of the four puppy owners waiting with us asked if the front staff knew if the class was still happening. The front staff finally grabbed the trainer who came out and said the class had started 30 min ago. The front staff (who were not too busy) watched as we sat there and missed the class instead of informing us it was in the room next door. This class occurs every Saturday at the exact same time and space so it baffles me the front desk staff would not be more informed or helpful. Needless to say we will not be taking our puppy here due to poor customer service.

We love this place. It came recommended to us by a neighbor many years ago and we have been taking all of our animals here since. Vaccinations to neutering, they have helped us with all.

Sunday lines are crazy long, but their fast. Was out in an hour.

Wonderful staff who truly care about your pets! Both of my dogs were super comfortable there, and I was so happy about that! My puppy was spayed, and healed so quickly! Not only are the efficient, trustworthy, and caring, but they're also very reasonably priced! Highly highly recommend!!

When we had to quickly find a vet to help remove a foreign body from our 14 week old puppy, we were recommended this clinic and I am forever grateful for that! Not only were they able to safely remove the object before causing further damage, but the staff took the time to really treat our puppy as their own. Very welcoming, loving vet office. The confidence Dr Brooks showed gave us peace of mind during the entire process. Plus, the prices they offer are VERY reasonable!

Ok, if ur going, establish one vet. Their MO is the bounce u around to whoever is working. Not my personal style and no carry over. Finally established a vet, go c him with my pup and very happy.

Took our kitties in for vaccinations. Our little girl developed a lump, took her back in and they did free exam. I recommend

The End-of-Life services the Downtown Animal Clinic provided for my elderly dog were compassionate yet affordable. We were given a comfortable room with a couch, armchair, and a dog bed. Since there was a complete absence of vet things in the room, she was completely relaxed and we were able to say goodbye in peace and at our own pace. I thank our lucky stars we found these kind and caring professionals

Great service and friendly staff. There was a little bit of a wait, but the I m sure it s just because of the curbside waits right now. Marisa was super friendly and answered any and all questions I had.

Terrible service from vet we saw, staff is ok. My dog needed stitches and when I was given an estimate I told the vet we saw "Bonnie L. Kramer" that I couldn't afford that she became very rude. She left and came back offering medication and when asking for another option became even more rude. When coming back with another option she didn't even have the courtesy to be in the room to talk about it, she stood with the door open and obviously does not know about patient privacy. After that she sent someone else to talk to us because being that I couldn't afford what she offered I wasn't worth her time. Never will I return or recommend this place and if I do I will make sure specifically to tell them to ask to not see Bonnie L. Kramer.

Dr. Ed has been doing this for a very long time and is very good at what he does. He was straightforward throughout the process.

Staff has been SO rude the last few times I have been in. The doctor sounded bothered to answer my questions regarding my pup. The vet techs would walk outside and stare right at me as I waited 20 minutes past my appointment time and they wouldn t even give us a be right with you they looked at me and walked away after I asked for help. Over the last year or two the service and overall experience here has gone downhill.

Great service and affordable prices! Bre was especially great with my dog Morty who is usually a big baby! It's a popular place so don't be surprised if there is a small wait and always call ahead or email!

They care so much about your pet. They helped us with emergencies, same day visits as well as managing our pet's chronic condition and then also supported us when it was time to say goodbye. I love this vet!

Went there because my dog was sick. She had to have surgery because she had a tumor. Charged me up to 300 to see if my dog could have surgery. Then we pay up to 1 grand to operate. They charge us and take my dog. We keep calling back and they say she s going into surgery and later we find out they were lying. They couldn t operate because they didn t give up paper work to sign. My dog hasn t eaten all day and can t eat until tomorrow morning. Very disappointed in the service!

I brought my cat here to get vaccinated. I found the prices to be considerably more reasonable than other places I had looked. They charged me $15 for her rabies shot and $15 for her distemper shot. I could have paid $45 for a full exam, but since my cat seems healthy I opted to pay $15 for a tech to administer the shots. The staff got me in right away, and they were overall very friendly. The technician got pretty short/condescending with me when I asked a follow up question, but otherwise it was a positive experience.

My name is Laura DeLeon Reyes, I just started taking my beautiful cat bubbles to the center. Bubbles met the vet Miss Perez , and I can say I was very happy how loving and gentle she was with my girl. Bubbles has been sick. Possible thyroid problem. They were ok with me needing a little time to come up with the money for testing. I have been there twice now and both times fur babies and their families were treated respectfully from what I seen. My experience is I plan on bringing all three of my cats there. Thank you very much.

They take such good care of my gut baby's! I'm so happy to a vet that truly cares about your four legged family members.

I went to this veterinary clinic to get my dog rabies shots because it had been 3 years. The veterinary technician tried to give the vaccine but it all squirted out all over my little dog and her hand. The second time it worked out fine.

These guys took such great care of my baby girl when we had her spayed on Monday.

Do not depend upon these people to see your dog if it is sick! I had been here several times for shots. My dog has a small sore on his eyelid, My wife called on a friday to get the first appointment, the first appointment was tuesday. By monday morning my dog's eye was swollen shut. I took him by on monday morning and asked for an immediate appointment. There was literally no other patients in the office. They would not see him until my tuesday appointment. They will not see your pet if it is sick!!!!! It is ok to expect them to honor appointments made days in advance. But it is better to have a real vet that sees dogs when they are actually sick!

I ve been coming here since I moved to Denver three years ago. This vet office is thorough and caring! They see my two cats regularly. They have a weekend vaccine clinic that is very affordable. Call them for more info. Parking lot has limited spots.

Everyone with Downtown Animal Care Center is amazing. I have never had a negative experience with a single person there. It s very obvious that they all love the animals and that they would do anything to help take care of your pet.

April is the best. The only reason I was able to survive leaving my puppy for treatment, was knowing that April would take care of her. This is an amazing place to bring your pet. I'm so happy my family and I chose them. If I could give them more stars I would. You can tell they truly care for the animals and are honest about treatment. We felt safe and secure in our decision because we knew they had us and our beautiful puppy's best interest at heart .I will tell everyone about this place!

This is the best animal clinic in DENVER! They are caring not overpriced and completely honest. They are in the business of actually caring for animals. They are the least expensive I have seen around besides free neuter/ spay clinics and vaccines. Been a customer for 10 years w multiple pets and highly recommend!

Have taken both of my pups here for their spay/neuter and vaccines/microchip and the staff has been helpful and friendly! Veronica at the front desk had to call me about an O2 tank leaking and they were unable to perform my pups spay that day. I had a trip coming up and the boarding center required her to be spayed, I relayed this to Veronica and my disappointment and she politely, professionally and quickly assisted me in coming up with a solution that provided quality care even though her hands were tied. I appreciate her responsiveness and empathy during our phone call as I was probably not the most pleasant. Very pleased even after the hiccup that was promptly addressed with all of the patients owners! Give this girl a promotion and a raise!!

Dr. Umlauf did such an awesome job with our 13 yr old dog's orthopedic surgery! I researched extensively before going with Dr. Umlauf and so glad we went with him. Very caring; took time and such care with our old guy. We all adore him!!

This place is amazing, they are very helpful, and compassionate when it comes to your animal. They are thorough and even stayed after hours running tests on my pup.

BEWARE! Unfortunately, Downtown Animal Care has gone downhill and the beloved pets are who suffer. Please do yourself and your pets' a favor and get a second opinion. The vets' there no longer care for the animals well-being, just the money they can exploit from your love for your pet. Just look at the reviews on yelp, even the ones that are "not really recommended" and you'll easily see the real goal of this business.

Waiting area was clean with tons of room. Big check-in area. Staff was professional and helpful with after care instructions. The prices were super reasonable. Even got a next day follow up call. :) Kudos, Downtown Animal Care Center staff.

BEST VET IN DENVER!!!! I have had a few bad experiences with taking my pets to certain animal clinics. My pet's well being and health is just as, if not more, important than my own. I love them as if they were my children and the only place Ill ever take them again is the Downtown Animal Care Center. Everyone from the staff that answers the phone all the way to the Dr.s - are genuinely kind and caring. Good pet health care, providdr by high quality professionals at an affordable rate?? Theres no reason not to come. THEY ARE REALLY THAT GOOD!!!!! Im so thankful!!!!

Places is always great. Reasonable prices, wonderful, caring techs and good vets. I believe them to be great value in town.

I took my dog in for his shoots very cheap then what I always pay

Do NOT take your animal for a spay or neuter! They contaminated the surgical area during my dogs spay. Staff is unprofessional and inexperienced. I took my dog to a different Vet for a follow up due to an internal infection from surgery four days out. I do not recommend them to anyone!!! Do not trust them!!!!!! Staff is unprofessional, rude, and inexperienced!!! There are many options for affordable clinics. DO NOT trust this place.

They are our extended family, they take the best wonderful care of my grandbaby, she's playful, and very happy again, after her surgery, thank you all for the wonderful care.

The reception folks are really nice and welcoming. Our vet seemed rushed throughout the exam and gave a generalized diagnosis to our pet that did not really help us. We reached back out numerous times to reconcile and have never received a response. Disappointed in how this played out, we decided to get a new vet. The new vet didnt charge us for new animal patient intake, which was really nice. Do your research!

My bunny died at this hospital. I was told from another vet that most places spay/neuter rabbits like a cat or dog when rabbits are more sensitive. I trust this vet since she has bunnies of her own and seems very knowledgable so i plan to get my new bunny spayed there.

The staff was friendly and my lil guy was handled with care

Brought my 8 week old puppy here for the puppy wellness plan($250) about two weeks ago. Made the concern for her runny nose and not being able to swallow foods normally without it coming back out her nose (I'm thinking maybe trachea or esophagus problem), but nope the veterarian made the quick assumption it is distemper. Did not want to give her any of her puppy shots because of the symptoms she was showing (just a runny nose and cough that clearly sounded like congestion/backed up mucus)

They mentioned testing and xray would cost about $500. Bare in mind, this is just to FIND out whether it is distemper and to see what's going on internally. NOT TO TREAT. We did the Xray. Which costed about $200, for ONE VIEW. Everything looked normal, according to the veterinarian. No pneumonia or obstruction that seemed abnormal.

After two weeks, she still has congestion and runny nose, no diarrhea, no vomiting, and acting like a puppy(with energy and eating A LOT). I got a second opinion from another veterinarian and they said "No way it is distemper, not even close. With the signs and symptoms she is showing, distemper wouldn't have even been a suggestion".

I left this "Care Center" with the thought that my dog WILL die because she has a runny nose(allergy like) and difficulties swallowing because that's what distemper is AND spending $300 JUST TO GO GOME with antibiotics for something the vet didnt even know what he was prescribing it for.

Horrible experience for any new dog owner to go through and I would not have gone through what I did emotionally and financially if I had just went somewhere else.

My dogs have been coming here since they were born , and they have always been well taken care of during their visits I like the staff and the vets . They always handle the things that need to be handled with my pets and our needs :) I've also recommended this Clinic for other pet owners I know !!!!!!

Vet tech was kind to our senior dog and gave her vaccination while she hid under the bench

A few days ago I had called to get my doggo neutered and unfortunately was given some odd information. Yesterday I went there early to get the service done, when the receptionist apologized for the wrong information and told me I would need an appointment. I wasn't mad, people make mistakes. She started making me an appointment for another day when she turned to another lady and asked if they could get my dog in since I was already there. I was so taken back by this act of kindness.
They had me fill out the paperwork, which states the prices of what the do on it, and within 5 minutes my dog was being seen. I picked him up later that day and spoke to a nurse who was so sweet and really wanted Loki to have the best recovery.
All of the ladies at the front desk are beyond helpful and very friendly. The nurses who work with the dogs are so amazing. This establishment truly cares about providing the best care for your fur baby. As long as I'm in Colorado, I will be bringing them here. What an amazing team of people.

On a side note, they did several things for my dog and I paid under $300 for it all. They are very low cost, compared to most vets. However animal care just like healthcare can be expensive depending on the procedure. All you have to do is ask the question and these wonderful people will explain everything to you.

Our dog Loki is home and safe and on the road to recovery. I'm so beyond thankful to this clinic for the care they provided to him as well as fitting us in. They care.

These people were great. My dog had an unfortunate fracture and needed amputation and they provided quality care and were extremely professional and courteous the entire time. Highly recommend.

They offer half price shots on sundays, they are quick and courteous. I have a 4.5 month old pup and he always likes going to the vet .My questions get answered and they work with you each time.

My dog Precious and I drove down from Eagle, CO to have TPLO surgery on May 27. Dr. Ed Umlauf was her doctor and he greeted us at the door at 6:30AM. He and his assistant were the only people there. He brought us into a consultation room to discuss the procedure. Typically my dog doesn't really care for the veterinarian office. Not this time! She jumped up on the sofa and put her head on Dr. Umlauf's lap. We left the same day at 2PM. As of this writing she is 10 day post op. She is doing great and on the fast track to healing. I can't say enough good about him. He was quietly confident, very competent and genuinely nice to both of us. He has done more than 2,000 of these surgeries. I would say he's one of the best!

I took my cat in to be neutered and he died there. According to other vets I've talked to they probably used too much anesthesia or didn't pay attention to his breed and what types to use. They brought me my dead cat and had very little compassion. All they did was try to sell me on their cremations services. Finally a manager called me to tell me what happened after I wrote several upset emails. Who knows if what they told me was the truth. I've regretted everyday for going here. Don't use a place just because they have good prices for services. Do your research and get a good vet. I'd give this place no stars if I could.

The greedy male doctor there just padded the bill, with alot of unnecessary test for a 13 and a 1/2 year old dog I never got any answers & it cost me $580. He gave her $75 worth antibiotics I never knew what they were treating. She wouldn't take them they made her sicker. And the doctor never returned my 2nd call. This was my last visit to this place.

the prices for my dogs vaccines were great every time i have taken them in and the are always very nice, treated my dogs and me with kindness and they care

I drove from Aurora to get to this appointment, fought thru traffic and had my grandbaby with me was almost 15 minutes late and they would not see me for just a follow up. And the whole place was completely empty. Not happy will never return will not refer

Years ago we took our cat there, and the staff was awesome.

The front staff is awesome and really seem to care about our pets. However both doctors I've dealt with behaved as if they don't like animals and were very rude, condescending and just rushed us through not even really listening to any concerns we had. With how nice the front staff is, you'd expect nicer doctors.

Super friendly staff, very informative about my needs and what type of precautions they recommend. Very careful when giving my dog a shot. Highly recommend going here for all pet needs.

I can t say enough about Dr. Thompson. This woman was born to be a veterinarian! Her passion and love for animals is undeniable. Because of her advice, I was able to save my pup from Parvo. My dog had a negative Parvo test with another vet, but Dr. Thompson had good instincts and truly cared about my dog s wellbeing.
It turned out to be Parvo, and had Dr. Thompson not advised me to act despite the negative test, my precious dog would ve certainly died.
If you are looking for a vet you can trust, who will love your pets as if they are her own, come in to Downtown Animal Care Center.

Love this place. The staff is very nice and helpful. The Veterinarians are fantastic.

They historically have always been pretty good to me and my Chihuahua. Now, I did own a 75 lb German Shepherd at one point and everyone was so afraid of her when I would come in. That was a bit irritating. Also, last time I was there with my little dog, the tech was giving me a super hard time about a broken nail she had. Told me she needed to have surgery and that I needed pay for antibiotics. I declined all of that, wrapped it up, kept it clean, and it just fell off after about a week.

Overall though, their prices and the majority of my visits have been good.

Friendly service we take our dogs to get their shots we love the walk in clinic they have for shots on Sunday there is normally a line but they get people in and out very quickly. The staff is always friendly.
