Good hotel, a bit pricey and the staff could be nicer but it's pretty standard in NYC
Good hotel, a bit pricey and the staff could be nicer but it's pretty standard in NYC
Very good, clean, excellent service and the location is perfect
Horrible place. Staff was not considerate but cookie was yummy
Great location, but nothing else. If you are used to real Hilton's this is not for you.
STAFF WAS EXTREMELY RUDE!!! I will never stay here or any Hilton ever again. Its been a few weeks and I still have to stand in awe at how rude the staff was. The lady checking us in was the worst. The manager had to come and intervene and he was not much better. I am amazed The Hilton lets this happen.
The rooms are very nice and quite big. The staff is very nice. The breakfast buffet is tasty and contains a good variety.
Considering we are Hilton VIP members I expected better. Even that aside - the tiny bathroom (you had to kind of squeeze around the door to close it), the temperamental flush on the loo, the fact you have to go to the bar to get your water, the lack of kettle.... I mean really.... DoubleTree is a better brand in the UK than it appears to be here in the US. We won't be staying here again sadly.
I was visiting a family member who was living in nyc. The lobby was clean and i liked the bar on the side. The staff was very helpful as they helped us out to paln the best roite to travel around the city. The room was nice and clean as well
Great location and friendly staff, but for the price and 4-star hotel status, it absolutely wasn t worth it.
Tiny room and inaccessible bathroom, broken furniture, paint peeling, mold/rust in shower, broken shower curtain, and the list goes on. We asked to be moved to a different room after the first night and after waiting about half an hour in line we were quickly told there s nothing that can be done. As Hilton Honors members we were excited to try out a Double Tree, but we won t be coming to back to this one - please relabel it accordingly to a 2-star hotel.
For three or four days the hotel is ok. Close to the subway. Was ok to visit New York as I spent more time outside. Good to sleep.
But if you need WiFi as I needed you will have to pay 15$ per day per device to get it in your room, it is free in the main lobby.
Nice location, spacious rooms, big & comfortable bed, super breakfast (really!).
found blood staines on the bed sheet, bathroom poorly cleaned, black hair from the cleaning staff found in the bathroom on daily basis
The room was a little old and the walls need to be fixed. The public parking garage was attached to the building. I'm not sure how the people there would give 4 stars for the hotel. At least the people who work there was pretty nice. They were supposed to give us cookies but ran out. They told us to come by later for them but we never did.
Very rude staff. I don't recommend it! Instead of putting coffee in the rooms. They take them out. Room. paid on booking. Upon arrival. It did not appear. Very bad. Very bad. Very bad. Update review. I ask for an emergency call at the hotel. They answer me. Call from wz. Italian. Avoid this hotel. They are worth it.
Good rooms. 3pm check in was a bummer. But great price for a manhattan hotel. Right next to a subway station making it very easy to visit all the popular places in NYC
Old hotel.. charged outrageous prices, rust around the tub. The drawers had small mirrors that had numerous finger prints as if house keeper had no passion. Outdated tv. Still stuck only on pay per view.
Friendly. Value-compensated price ratio. Breakfast, enough. Situation, excellent, in the middle of Manhattan.
Loved the customer service and my room was clean and nice. Check in was great aside from them trying to get me to go to some Hilton Club timeshare thing by giving me a 500 point voucher to take to a different desk. Additionally the breakfast is a joke, better off going elsewhere for food.
Great staff!! Hotel is a little dinky but it is NY eh? Very central to all the best pubs!
The worst stay ever. I was not expecting much as its hilton and suppose to be crappy but this was the worst. The staff at the front desk was extremely rude, the bathroom was dirty, the tub was cracked in places and the air conditioning in the room didn't work. When we asked for a change of rooms we were refused because they had no other rooms available. Horrible!!
Rooms are very small, no fridge but regardless not bad for the price. What really irritates me though is the continental breakfast that cost $30 each... the breakfast was below average and Met Grill should be ashamed of themselves to price gouging like this for such a low quality meal. Mc Donald s would have been the better choice. Also the %15 gratuity should not be included, the staff was rude, people were yelling from the kitchen and the staff walked around spilled food for 5 minutes before cleaning it. Traveler beware
The hotel is beautiful and centrally located. Perfect location to Rockefeller and Time Square. Their staff and attentiveness is impeccable. The suites and balconies with city views are breathtaking. All our guest thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Our stay started and ended with Manija Raofi / Convention Services Manager. She was very responsive from the beginning, patient, and very accommodating to us, the Bride and Groom as well as all of our guest. Manija made all things possible and without her our wedding experience would not have been the same. Thank you Manija and the Dbl Tree Hilton Metropolitan. We would recommend to anyone staying in New York City!
Economic, be sure to register to hiltom honors to get the best prices.
Terrible service! I just asked for two wine glasses for me and my husband and after 30 minutes wait they said that my husband should pick it up downstairs because they don't offer room service. Thus, I thought why now to tell me in the first place so we don't have to wait 30 minutes. Anyways, I will never come back!. Ps. No free WiFi!
For a New York hotel, the rooms are relatively spacious. The bar and restaurant are just OK. Plenty of choice of venues around it. Location is excellent.
Decently priced for location. Rooms are showing age. Checking in took quite awhile.
Very central hotel, close to the metro. Spacious, clean, and comfortable rooms. Helpful staff. Free WiFi only in the lobby, for a fee in the rooms. Equipped with a bar where you can have breakfast. Recommended.
I stayed in June 2016 with my husband.
Terrible price/quality ratio, work rooms, rude check-in staff, waiting times at the elevators etc.
On the internet I read a lot of negative reviews about this hotel. The rooms would be old and musty, wallpaper would peel and everything would be very small. What do you expect from a hotel in the heart of Manhattan? I can say that with the low expectations I had a wonderful stay. Yes, it is somewhat dated and yes it is quite small, but that was also how I had estimated it. I slept and showered wonderfully, the beds were nicely made and I could leave my things everywhere. Were there any complaints at all? Well, I missed a coffee maker that can be found in almost all hotels nowadays. In addition, the sound insulation was rather limited so that you could really hear everything and the man on the ground floor was quite annoying that you try to put on all kinds of things. So-called as a free gift you can have breakfast for free, but then there are still a few snakes. And he kept insisting. Furthermore, great hotel in a great location. I would go there again soon.
Great hotel, impeccable service and friendliness of the staff!
Comfortable rooms, friendly staff and great location to see all the sights.
Beautiful hotel, in the heart of the city, very clean and tidy. The staff very professional and polite and an amazing thing it's the cookies that they offer you when you check in, they are amazing. Very recommended this hotel
Being Hilton's left much to be desired, the rooms have no fridges, the elevators take forever, there is no standard of service at reception, some attendants are attentive others not so much
I have stayed at the DoubleTree Metro for business on a few occasions. The rooms are on the smaller side and a bit outdated. Great location in midtown. The bar in the lobby is fun and pretty busy. Service is friendly. Parking is a bit more expensive than other hotels in the immediate area.
Friendly people clean rooms. Nice hotel for the price. AMAZING location.
Wonderful location. Strategically located. Wish parking was better discounted for guests in the attached icon parking lot.
Cheap, somewhat warn, but the staff people are great.
Nice hotel but you had to pay for wifi which is not the best. But overall great hotel with many things to do.
Staff were not particularly accommodating aside from the check in desk. Our sink was blocked and we had to ask to get someone to come to the room to fix the tv. It was quiet though and in a nice area.
Good place to stay despite of being very crowded. Always many checking in/out people inside. I love the warm cookies on arriving - great marketing strategy. I will always remember doubletree hotel with this. The rooms are a bit old and small, but who stays in the hotel when in Manhattan?
This is undoubtedly the worst value hotel I have ever stayed in. Overpriced. Tired. Tatty rooms
Staying here was a great time, the hotel staff are friendly and always willing to help and the location is great to be able to go for a walk around town and see the sites. They also can organise a shuttle to the airport that was great.
Great service and facilities. The cookies are the best.
Very cheap, clean, comfortable rooms. Excellent location on the E and 6 train, excellent gym. Breakfast too expensive, didn't try.
Great place to enjoy the city for a weekend. Cookies at the front desk and a full bar at the entrance.
The hotel is always packed with people, the bar has plenty of attentive staff despite much room to spread out. The room was small, but fairly standard for NYC. I just wish it had more modern decor in the bathroom and wallpaper.... Felt like I was transported back in time.
Great place to stay in Manhattan. Staff was particularly friendly and helpful.
The location of the hotel is excellent and treated us very well since we arrived. not very big but clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast buffet loved it.
Great location. Room was clean and was very reasonable.
I used this hotel repeatedly. Check in and Out is fast, rooms are as clean as you can get for this price as close to manhattan downtown. But mostly it is directly at a Line 6 and E Train which makes it perfect for commuting to downtown and to get very quick and easy to JFK or LGA. So i'll be there next time.
Very good hotel with nice location close to the metro and within walking distance to Central Park.
The check in/check out employees were rude and lack customer service skills. The lady who checked us in asked us if we wanted to move to a handicapped room since our original room was not ready and she rolled her eyes and gave us attitude when we asked her to explain what it would look like. The hotel room itself was nice, comfortable, and clean. It is nearby a lot of subway stations and there is a Walgreens across the street. We were in between staying here or the location near Time Square and we should've picked TS because we spent most of our time around there.
Don t ever stay here. No heat !! And the shower pressure is extremely painful like a fire hose. Hotel refused to accomedate us and plain oh sucks no complimentary water you have to buy water from the bar !! GHETTO
I've stayed in better Hampton Inns!
This hotel is outdated and in desperate need of a remodel. The bathroom tub looked like it had seen better days. The hotel is loud, you hear everything. The breakfast area wasn't large enough to accommodate everyone that wanted to eat. The service was horrible. Make sure you get three cups of coffee poured at the beginning because you won't see anyone again.
I typically stay at the Hilton Midtown or Conrad but they were sold out. I will never stay at this dump again.
I can't believe Hilton puts a DoubleTree logo on this hotel. It's a Hampton Inn and that's being nice.
My favourite hotel in NYC when I come. great location, staff, and rooms. reccomend!
The room is not 100 percent clean, the bathroom is very small, dated and doesn't look very nice. The hotel itself is in a very good location. The breakfast is poor and not worth it. The staff is very friendly. At the lobby elevators, there is a very annoying siren that never gets shut off
Lock didn't work on the bathroom door and decor was a bit strange but other than that it was good. They gave cookies at reception which we're very good.
Great staff, wonderful location. Loved the cookies. Only real downside was the instant coffee and chemical creamer in the room. Never stayed at an American hotel that did not have real coffee in the room.
Location is fantastic; but, the rooms are fairly Spartan. No refrigerators, no vending on the floors, a little small and you can see small damage to the room if you look closely: torn carpet, cracks on the bottom of the bathroom door, etc. Service seems okay, though I wasn't provided an HHonors room even though I am an HHonors member- plus, I was placed right next to the elevator, with loud lodgers waking me up at night.
I've had worse hotel experiences, but from a Hilton brand hotel, I expected better.
Had an upgraded king room on the 14th floor. Quiet and spacious.
Fantastic staff!!! They treated us like royalty. It was my husband's birthday and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Everyone from Timothy and all the other doormen to all the kitchen staff such as Maria the host as well as Vicki and all the others at the front desk we cannot thank you all enough for making our stay most memorable and enjoyable Excellent location was central and very easy to get around with the subway steps away. We would recommend this hotel to everyone and surely would not hesitate to come again ourselves from Vancouver Canada.
Excellent location for meetings in mid town Manhattan. Room is clean and neat. What was very unpleasant was, though, a service man "requested" $2 per bag to be checked which I generally consider a voluntary tip and I always give them to. But being told to "pay" $2 per bag even when my colleague needed to take out something out of his bag later was absolutely ridiculous. It almost felt like he was demanding what we owe to him, so we though it was customary in this hotel. Strangely enough, another service man who helped us getting our bags back and loading them in a taxi didn't ask for any amount ended up getting much bigger tip. So I presume it was just one guy who was robbing of foreign guests. I should've written his name down.
Really nice hotel. Beds comfortable enough, rooms clean and lobby nice. Stayed here twice for business and had a pleasant experience.
Very nice hotel. Good bar. Close to allot. Reasonable rates. Overall nice pace
Good service , cookies are delicious but no late check-out and sudden $1 per fee bag check in
Good location, friendly staff. Request a high floor if possible
Value for money, is a disaster. The room was dark, the air conditioning could hardly be controlled. The silicone in the bathroom was moldy, the exhaust air did not work and was totally filthy. Bathtub bursting with flaking paint and the ceiling threw bubbles through the moisture. Wi-Fi is $ 16 a day and luggage storage after check-out is not free. The standard in a basic motel in the US is better. The star is there for the location as everything is within walking distance and the friendly staff.
This is a well maintained hotel with pleasant staff. The room was clean and we'll appointed for a typical NYC hotel room.
The restaurant staff was very helpful and good us all four days for breakfast.
Lovely hotel with very friendly, outgoing staff.
Hotel is overall relatively clean and maintained. While the interior is not brand new, it s relatively new (read: not old).
In addition to the fantastic location in Manhattan, the hotel is also very conveniently located on the corner of Lexington Avenue and East 51st Street. This naturally lets guests enter the hotel via one of two entrances: the main entrance located on Lexington Ave and a smaller entrance on East 51st Street (very convenient when being dropped from a vehicle).
On entry from the main entrance, you re met by the check in counters/waiting area. There is a restaurant/bar off to the right continuing to the elevators.
When compared to the average size of hotel rooms in Manhattan, this hotel s rooms are definitely on the larger side of the spectrum. While not huge, they are spacious with ample room to move around (when compared to the overwhelming majority of hotel rooms in Manhattan being very small and cramped). Rooms are relatively clean and seem to be maintained decently. They have a boutique theme to them and while not new, are definitely not old or dated. Beds are very soft and comfortable. Bathrooms are of average size, once again having ample room to move around. There is a bathtub/shower combo.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel s rooms.
A very nice gym is also located in the hotel, with plenty of various cardio machines and weights.
In the vicinity of the hotel there are countless restaurants of all cuisines, pharmacies, grocery stores, electronics shops and what whatever else your heart desires (minutes (seconds!) walk away). For guests who prefer to limit their walking, a subway station is literally within feet of the hotel, on the very same block/corner as the hotel itself.
Main attractions include Times Square (18 minutes walk away), Central Park (17 minutes walk away). Countless other attractions are within walking distance, or of course a short subway/taxi ride away.
The only qualm I would have with the hotel is that with rooms facing East 51st Street there is a Fire Department, as such, during the day there is constantly the sound of sirens leaving the station. Depending on your sensitivity/tolerance, this may or may not be problematic. Admittedly, with the air conditioning on, and especially at night, sirens were not heard/noticed while sleeping.
Overall I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Have yet to meet any friendly staff. Rooms are large for NYC standards but decor is dated worn. This hotel needs a refresh.
According to the front desk there are no microwaves for guest use.
I really like this hotel even though it's a mega tall building very generic. Our room was next to "noisy elevators" but we heard nothing. We had some of the best sleep of the year. Comfy beds, hotel stuff, what more could you ask for?
Not good!
Irrespective of the temperature outside, the hotel heating is on until May. What this means is that you cannot control the temperature in your room!
I wanted to cool my room down to sleep, but the AC unit was pumping out hot air.
I called the front desk, they sent an engineer.
His solution was to turn off the aircon unit and open the window!
Add to this the paint peeling off the woodwork (HUGE flakes, not little ones!)
And the bathrooms being TINY, I cannot recommend this hotel when there are SO many other choices available in Manhattan.
The hotel IS well located on Lexington Avenue, however, with good food options very close by. The Doormen are friendly and helpful. But not my first choice.
AC not working, 77 when I woke up, reported to front desk. when I ca mb e back the AC was still broken but they put a fan in my room, I called the front desk again and when I came back they opened the window and put the fan by it. $900+ for two nights and that's how they fix broken AC.
The hotel looks very nice and was very clean. The only gripe I have is that soon off the rooms are smaller than average, but other than that it is a good hotel.
As a seasoned traveler who spends about 150 room nights per year at Hilton properties all over the world, let me give you some advice: pick another hilton property and avoid this hotel.
The rooms are ridiculously small.
There is no restaurant except for breakfast.
There is a bar with quick food and limited selection. No to go service at all.
And, something I've never seen at any hilton run property in my life - no in room coffee. If you want to wake up and have a cup, you'll need to get dressed and go to the restaurant. Totally unacceptable to me, but maybe your priorities are different.
Lastly, the service level was slow and not as friendly as I've come to expect from this chain. Do youeself a favor and pick another hilton run property nearby. There are several in midtown.
