The Donmar is a wonderful space working on amazing projects. I'd suggest booking well in advance as soon as their season is released - you could not get tickets to the all-female Julius Caesar for love nor money in the end & it was sensational. I went to see their production of The Recruiting Officer & the company used the old wooden set with candles so beautifully & even though we were on the cheap seats on the very edges we had wonderful views & still felt really part of the show. (The actor musicians in that show also did a wonderful live version of all the annoying ringtones that could go off during the show - wonderfully funny. No one wants a phone going off in a show but it was so much more entertaining than a simple 'turn it off' and in keeping with the intercation of the play.)
Fantastic small theatre. Tickets can be expensive but you are up close with the actors. Many from Hollywood, etc
Outstanding productions in the most intimate of venues. Artistic directors were Sam Mendes, Michael Grandage and now Josie Rourke. All world-class directors who have ensured this remains the best theatre in London.
Really excellent little theatre that consistently puts on great shows. Because of the size of the theatre, each show is quite an intimate experience. Queued for day seats to see Coriolanus, and even from the standing row in the back it was possible to catch every flicker of expression.
With only one exit though, getting out of the theatre at the end of the night can be a bit of a squeeze, although the staff are on hand to do crowd control.
Lovely little theatre. Always have interesting and thought provoking shows. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A truly lovely experience.
One of the most comfortable seated theatres I've visited. The play 'Blank' was brilliant. A bit cold but comfortable and staff were very helpful. Even got a free seat upgrade.
I love the Donmar. it's such an intimate space. There isn't a bad seat in the theatre
We really enjoyed our visit - we had a good view despite being right up the back, and enjoyed the play. We were there on opening night, so there were a few rough patches, but they didn't affect our enjoyment, particularly for the price we paid!
The best contemporary theatre in London! The 'auditorium' is incredibly small - only holding 250 seats so tickets sell out months in advance, but if you manage to get in you will get the most intimate theatre experience of the highest quality. I've seen many great productions there, from comedy to tragedy and everything in between. The quality of the productions are always fantastic, often I won't know anything about the play and yet I've never had a bad experience. Book yourself into any production, you won't regret it!
Loved it, fab theatre we saw Small Island Andrea Levy's play.
great theatre , i really love the atmosphere that they create. comfortable seating. thank you.
Intimate theatre often showing plays with big names.
Had an incredible time watching the Shakespeare Trilogy here. Incredible theatre space that's only going to be around temporarily - get in there quick!
One of my favorite theatres. I have been a member ever since my brother took a starring role on stage! Sorry, proud sister!
The performances have been hit and miss over the last few years, but always a stellar caste.
The prices are incredibly reasonable, especially considering the standard of production, the intimacy of the theatre.....
The seating down stairs is far better then upstairs. Not good if you have back issues - be warned!!
Always an enjoyable evening. Great acting and productions in a calm environment devoted to theatrical quality.
Teenage Dick - Richard III reset in an American high school. A great reworking bringing in the treatment of outsiders, social media gossip and back biting, casual violence and the immaturity of teens. Played with a mix of new.lines and those drawn from the original play. The actors create a reality of conflict in the Class President election and in personal relationships that draws you in and an hour and 40 minutes passes unnoticed. See it if you can. Another great play at this venue.
Quirky theatre based in Covent Garden with some interesting shows. It has high seats and a standing area. In the round with good views from all sides. Worth a visit.
Well known theatre playing more cutting edge plays. Small about 250 seats so quite intimate.
Sweat. Pulitzer Drama Winning Play with a great dream cast !
Amazing acting in an unconventional venue. Saw The Tempest and was absolutely floored by the quality of production.
Nice and intimate theatre with world class cast and crew. Saw Measure for Measure (with a twist and made topical) starring Hayley Atwell
Always a pleasure. Great productions and friendly team.
First time back in the Donmar Warehouse after many years absence. We booked last minute tickets to see Appropriate and what a great show it proved to be, both hard hitting, uncomfortable and funny at times. It was good to re-acquaint myself with this intimate theatre space and I will make sure I return in the near future to see another show.
A fantastic, intimate theatre. Very accessible, with affordable entry level seats with food views, friendly staff and great productions.
Small theatre but that means you get a clear line if sight from pretty much every seat in the house. If you're sitting in the balcony's last row you might have to lean forward a bit occasionally but even then it's usually fine - the angle is steep enough.
A small square utilitarian theatre with performances in the round. Good views from all seats, capacity about 200. Seen a couple of productions here which have been variable.
The tiny Donmar Warehouse more than makes up for it's size by putting on excellent plays. A season at the Donmar rarely has a dud play, and more often than not all are excellent. The only downside is that getting tickets can be difficult if you are not a friends member. If you can get the tickets however, you can be sure to be in for a treat.
Brilliant play, lovely theatre - good view for everyone.
Brilliant venue. The play was the Pride of Jean Brodie. Excellent hospitality and entertainment.
Went to see appropriate, thrilling experience and totally unpredictable
Exceptional theatre in an exceptional location. Each time I visit it's a different and thought provoking experience, brilliantly directed , staged and acted. Thank you Donmar team for many wonderful evenings. Keep up the good work. (also the team behind the scenes are super organised helpful and friendly.)
Small theatre offering very reasonably priced tickets for all shows. Good views from most seats, Row C of the circle , cheapest seats in the house cuts off some of the view.
Small theatre, great production (The Prime is Miss Jean Brodie, with Lia Williams ), impeccable acting. Acoustic was excellent
Home to some fantastic theatrical productions, this small scale theatre offers a limited number of seats to buy for shows, that are often heavily subscribed to by members. Seating is on padded benches and it can be pot luck if you are sat in between people of average girth or larger.
Wonderful theatre, amazing performance of Sweat. Great size of stage too.
The Donmar is one of my favourite theatres, the shows here are consistently good and the environment is lovely. A truly modern theatre
The production was ruined as the actors were often inaudible.
I love going to the Donmar, small intimate theatre gets you up close and personal to the performances and being almost part of the show when in front row. In lovely part of West End though did get confused when leaving theatre, but 7 dials always confuses would be a regular if lived in London.
