My favorite bakery in Kansas City. Love Sunday morning visits for the orange cinnamon rolls... The coconut macaroons are heaven, and cobbler nights during the summer are my favorite treat ever! So many more scrumdilly goodies... A must visit for anyone passing thru the area. They bake with joy and passion for simply magnificent, taste bud-melting baked goods.
So amazing!!! Dolce baked for our wedding and not only was it beautifully made, but it truly was the most delicious cake that I have ever tasted. Can't wait to go back!

I'm in love! I discovered this bakery while I was home visiting my parents. The bakery case is full of delicious options. We picked up a pumpkin spice cake. The flavor was just the right amount! Several other cute cakes caught my eye, and I can't wait to go back and sample them!
This is an awesome bakery. I went in on a busy Saturday in September, after 1030. The selection was limited but what I bought was great. I had a cheese cake brownie that was delicious, my wife has to be gluten free and her chocolate cupcake tasted every bit as good as a non gluten free, something anyone who has tried enough Gluten free stuff will know is super rare. Probably a touch expensive but it is to be expected if your going to a shop in Mission Hills.
My goodness, our cake was good! My #1 priority for my wedding cake was for it to TASTE GOOD. I have been to countless weddings and the cake is typically my least favorite thing. When we were planning our wedding, my one request was: I do not want this cake to taste like wedding cake. Jessica and the staff at Dolce Bakery were so wonderful: from the tasting to the presentation and taste of our cake. We were presented with several options, and initially I was sold on the dark chocolate cake with salted caramel cream filling. After the tasting, this choice was SO DIFFICULT! All of their cake flavors were so delicious that I wanted all of them! The cake was light and fluffy, their filling options were all scrumptious, and I could be thrown into a vat of their vanilla cream icing and die happy. We ended up choosing the chocolate cake with salted caramel cream, carrot cake with pecan praline filling, and lemon cake with alternating layers of lemon curd and raspberry cream (the groom s cake) all covered with their vanilla cream icing. I sent Jessica a photo of my cake choice (a watercolor cake) and then sent her a picture of the purple color I wanted to be on the cake. It was BEAUTIFUL! They did such a great job and everyone kept commenting on how pretty the cake was. And the taste was EXCEPTIONAL! All of our guests and the other vendors kept asking us who baked our cake; it was a huge hit! Additionally, the staff at Dolce Bakery are so accommodating! I wanted to surprise my groom with his cake. He is a WSU Shockers fan and I am an LSU Tigers fan, so naturally I could not let his Shockers groom s cake go unanswered. I contacted Jessica about somehow making the inside of the cake purple (he had yellow lemon cake layers), and they jumped right in on the fun to dye the raspberry cream purple. They drove our cake 1 1/2 hours to our wedding site and set up the cake. It was gorgeous! We will definitely use Dolce Bakery in the future for birthdays, anniversaries, and just snacks!
Dolce did an AMAZING job on our wedding cake!! We only wanted a small cutting cake for our table as we were having donuts for the rest of the guests, and Dolce was so accommodating! They made a custom cake flavor (lemon) to go with their FANTASTIC raspberry frosting/filling, and when they delivered and set up it was more beautiful than I d even initially pictured! We were taking photos when they arrived, but our people setting up said the woman that delivered was so nice and easy to work with. She did beautiful job setting up!, and it was DELICIOUS!
Great gluten free options! A family member has celiacs disease, and LOVES the cookies and cupcakes they offer. They are cooked in a completely different kitchen to avoid cross contamination. Its great to have such great options for those with celiacs disease!
I give up on Dolce. Sweets are good, but service is nothing to write home about. Called three times just to receive the answering machine at 10am. Would really love to purchase goods if there were someone to sell them!

Dolce Bakery did an amazing job on our wedding cake, and they were absolutely wonderful to work with. The staff responded very quickly to our inquiries, and it was easy to make an appointment. We did a tasting at the bakery and everyone was very friendly and pleasant. All the flavors were so fantastic, and they generously gave us additional samples of flavors that we hadn't requested. We chose three flavors for the cake Red Velvet, Vanilla Cake with Lemon Curd, and Chocolate Salted Caramel. We chose simple but elegant Dolce, dots, and white petal designs. On the day of the wedding, the cake was absolutely stunning and the guests raved about how they had to have a piece of every flavor because the cake was so delicious. Thank you to the Dolce Bakery team for making our special day a memorable one!
Dolce Bakery made our dream wedding cake a reality. I showed Maggie dozens of pictures of naked cakes on Pinterest, and she nailed it! We had vanilla and chocolate at our wedding. Our only regret was not eating more.
5 stars x 10!!! I LOVE DOLCE BAKERY! (No, they didn't pay me to declare my love.. lol) Here is why you need to lace up your sneakers and RUN to Dolce....
Their baked goods, obviously! You can taste the love and fine ingredients in everything that's in the sparkling clean, chilled display case. Chilled case, you ask? Yup! You know when you buy a pastry out of a room temperature case and it's half melted from your body heat before you can take your second bite? It doesn't happen with Dolce's slices of heaven. They are chilled just enough to let you savor each bit slowly and the last bite is just as delectable as the first. But... they don't chill a few items such as the mouth watering cinnamon rolls. Just writing this review is making me want to hop in the car and go get one! They create the obvious standard cinnamon roll that is yeasty, soft, gooey, glazed and cooked to perfection. I hate when a roll is cooked too long and gets crusty. These are always just a slight tan and melt in your mouth upon the first bite. But wait.. there is even a greater level of enjoyment in the orange cinnamon roll. Pure heaven for me. I can't resist buying one when they are still in stock. (slipping on shoe number one.. I just have to go get one) And if the mother ship is too far away for you, now you can purchase them out of the case at your local Whole Foods. Delivered fresh daily.
Ok.. back to the yumminess of Dolce....
Beyond the rolls there are a plethora of made-by-hand delights for everyone's taste buds that vary through the seasons and special occasions; delightful pumpkin concoctions, cakes (including special occasions and weddings; by order, not on display), molasses cookies, sweet potato scones, tarts, cookies of all kinds, bars, mini cupcakes, whoopie pies.. the list goes on. It's so difficult to step through the door and get just one thing. I usually have to leave with at least two items and one is gone before leaving the parking lot.
The staff... wow! They are always so incredibly sweet (pun intended). As much as I love this business, I avoid them because my hips don't need to expand BUT every time I visit, I'm greeted with a warm smile and my goodies are packaged in a fantastic little (or big) box adorned with their logo. Keep up the good work, Dolce Bakery!!!
I bought a cake and cookies for a birthday & they were insanely good! I don t like chocolate, but got a chocolate cake with vanilla layers for the birthday recipient. SO amazing! The frosting on the cookies were incredible as well. Hats off to the pastry chef on flavor and presentation! Only thing that didn t go 100 was that I asked for a whisky bottle or two whisky glasses clinking on the cake & got beer glasses instead. Kind of made me look bad b/c the recipient hates beer, but it was minor and we laughed it off. Still will go here again, still think this is an incredible establishment! Revision: Kathleen, thank you so much for your response. It really was not a big deal, and nothing needed in return! I appreciate you and look forward to purchasing more in the future!

Love Dolce! I ve had cakes, cookies, scones and other treats and they are all to die for. This bakery is not near me and is out of the way for me to stop by before or after work, but I make special trips to pick up treats because it s just that good!
First timer! All I can say is wow - totally impressed with our purchase yesterday. We bought a lemon blueberry cake - knock your socks off good! We will be back to try the praline carrot cake next! Such a good find!
Oh man, worth the five stars for the blueberry scone alone. Wow. I have never enjoyed a scone before but. I certainly enjoyed that. Absolutely delicious. The Raspberry cheesecake brownie was also spectacular. Those are the only items I have tried. But I now very much regret living in the Northland as I am so far away from this delightful bakery.

Been here a couple times for cupcakes, but this was the first time I went for other things. The cake was lemon and blueberry with lemon curd between the layers and a blueberry frosting. Wow. So good. You can buy the whole cake or just a piece.
This was my first time trying this bakery. Thought it was a nice upscale place and their cupcakes were good. So I ordered my son's birthday cake for his birthday party. It was a two tier cake. When I went to pick it up right before the party they handed me the cake in a flimsy cardboard box but only the bottom part.. keep in mind that I had to travel with this cake to the party. Nothing to cover it and not stable at all in the box. Then when I asked for something sturdier they told me sorry, that's all we have. Keep in mind I payed a pretty penny for my son's cake and they couldn't provide me with a better box. So upon arriving to my destination the cake sides were messed up. The top cake was chocolate which tasted fine but when I got down to the vanilla cake on bottom, it was extremely dry so much so that it was crumbling as I was trying to cut it! I had no other choice but to serve the cake to my guests which they also commented that the vanilla cake was very dry. I had no other options at that time. I am very disappointed in my experience with this bakery. I am hoping I can speak with the manager and hopefully get some of my money back for only getting part of a good cake and for my cake being in such a flimsy box. And hopefully they will start investing in some sturdier cake boxes for such orders. I have tried calling to talk to the owner but have not been able to talk to anyone. So frustrated right now.
LOVE Dolce. My nieces love going there for mini cupcakes and we've always had a good experience. It's apparent the passion they have for their bakery. Definitely a staple business for the community. (I recommend the cinnamon rolls! )

One of the best bakeries in Prairie Village. Just absolutely beautiful in presentation and taste. Our daughter said it was the best birthday cake she ever had.
Visited on 12/07/2019. Great place to meet someone. Nice environment, clean and roomy. Reason for 3 stars is relating to the cold brew. Very strong smell/taste of alcohol. Now, I understand there are different processes in cold brewing and the more potent the bean process the higher degree of alcohol taste. Just want to alert the public seeing this review that if you are not used to very strong cold brew, you may want to order regular coffee. Had a brownie which was very tasty and fresh.
The treats were fine and the service was... Civil but dismissive.
The cake was delicious! My only complaint was having to pay a $15 design fee when in fact I had to find pictures of the cake I wanted and they just copied it so there was not really any design involved (and the cake was already $85) but it turned out great and the birthday girl loved it so all is good. And it was truly delicious!

The best treats in the Kansas City area! My wife and I LOVE going to Dolce; their cake is incredible as well as the rest of their goodies! The staff is always friendly and inviting. One of our favorite places to treat ourselves in the KC area.
I m not sure I can say enough good things about Dolce Baking Company. We first came here the day after they opened when we were living just a block away in Prairie Village. The scones and chocolate-dipped macaroons were amazing and we became regulars.
In the years since they have never disappointed us. Every year we order a platter of their pastries for Christmas morning, and we still visit anytime we are nearby to grab some scones and macaroons. You cannot go wrong here.

I have been here several times and it has been delicious and decadent every time. I have a nut allergy and there is plenty for me and they have been knowledgeable about the ingredients. The employees have always been very friendly and energetic. I would recommend stopping by if you're in the area and getting some treats.

I love Dolce Baking Company's delicious pastries and coffee. Their restaurant is clean, parking is accessible, the wait isn't horribly long and the service is excellent! I adore their sticky buns & scones, and their granola is my favorite! A favorite holiday tradition: we always order a Yule Log to enjoy after Christmas Eve dinner & a platter of their assorted fresh pastries to share on Christmas morning. Any bakery with an oven can make hyper-sweet pastries, but Dolce's pastries are richer in flavor than they are simply sweet.
Went in for a quite coffee to review some paper work. Shame that what seemed to be the new manager/owner, seated in the customer area chose that time to speak in a raised voice to the staff at the counter.
Complete lack of customer consideration.

We had a horrible experience with the customer service at Dolce Bakery this morning, the two ladies were extremely rude! They were out of decaf coffee so they told me it would take few minutes to brew so I waited. Twenty minutes later, it still wasn't ready so I had to leave. They never apologized or acknowledged it. This place used to be my go to Bakery but every time I would go there these same ladies were always in pissy mood.
I ordered cookies and cake for my daughter's birthday party, and they were absolutely perfect. Beautiful and so delicious! The service was also outstanding. I've always heard good things about Dolce, and they exceeded my high expectations.
I love coming here for an after nap treat with my 3 year old. I recommend the mini cupcakes perfect kid size.

I just recently discovered this bakery, and I think they might be my new favorite bakery in KC! They made a beautiful birthday cake for me earlier this month according to my vision of a sunrise design, and I can't believe how moist and delicious all of their cake flavors are!! I also love their sugar cookies, especially with the hint of lemon that sets them apart. All of their workers at the bakery have always been very kind and accommodating for me, including on the phone, which makes a big difference when you're trying out a new establishment. I am signed up now for a virtual cookie decorating class with Dolce and am very excited! :)
The 1 star rating is based on customer service. Food quality is always excellent. Today is my daughter's 10th birthday. All she asked for was to go to Dolce Bakery for an orange cinnamon roll. We lived in PV for 12 years before moving south. Ever since Dolce opened we would walk from our house to get cinnamon rolls every weekend. Every birthday cake my daughter ever had was from Dolce. And for the past many years, we would commonly ask that our food be heated up if we were eating it there and this was always accommodated kindly.
Today, we waited in a fairly long ling (no big deal). We ordered 2 rolls and a ham and cheese croissant. I asked the girl at the front to please heat the food. This takes literally 15 seconds in a microwave in the back. She looked at me and told me no because the line was too long today. What??? I asked if someone from the back could help. She said no, they were busy baking things. I was dumbfounded. Who wants to eat a cold ham and cheese croissant?? After my husband told her that it was pretty crappy to skimp on customer service simply because they understaffed for the day, she nastily replied that she would go heat up our food. She huffed and puffed and rolled her eyes and took our plates to the back and returned 10 seconds later with our food. She tossed it down on the counter in front of us, did not even look at us, and went to help the next customer.
After a 30 minute drive across town simply to get my daughter an orange roll, I would expect at least halfway decent treatment. I have never been treated so rudely by anyone at any food establishment, let alone Dolce Bakery. I am sad to see that such a beautiful delicious place is being staffed with such rude individuals. Perhaps some customer service training should be in order. I, for one, will not be in any hurry to come back. Disappointing.

My friend got a carrot cake from here and it was the best EVER. I recently got my daughter a small chocolate blackout cake for her birthday and it was even better. The cookies are really good too.
I drive from south Overland Park to Dolce Bakery in Prairie Village because their baked goods are that good! Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, tarts, you name it. Everything they make is absolutely delicious!!
I just got a pumpkin spice cake for my husband's birthday and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. I should have gotten a bigger cake because everyone was coming back for seconds. Orange pasteries and cinamon rolls are pure decadence, full of flavor, they melt in your mouth. Mini cup cakes are adorable with mini flavor profiles. The biggest problem is not buying it all when you go in. Also they close early.

The orange flavored cinnamon buns and oatmeal cookie pies are out of this world. I m pretty sure you can t go wrong with anything they make.
Everything about Dolce is amazing the store atmosphere, the staff, and especially every single item they make. They have made many birthday cakes and custom sugar cookies for me that are always beyond exceptional and the talk of the party. Dolce has the MOST delicious treats and now coffee!! The owner and management are so caring and hardworking! I love ordering the kids cookies and cakes from this delicious local bakery as well as stopping in for a special sweet treat (and coffee)! Always absolutely delicious!
A year ago they made four wedding cakes for me. We sought them out based on a magazine photo, pointed and said "this". Amazing job! Not only did they match the magazine photo, but they made a second in another flavor to match. The third, a sheet cake, red velvet, was probably the best red velvet I've ever had. But the last... oh the last.. I had an idea, chocolate cake with bourbon chocolate frosting and bacon crumbles. It was a specialty cake and they had never done it before, tried it, and took my expectations to a whole new level! It was the first cake to go and everyone asked if Dolce sold it on a regular basis. If not, they should! By far a crowd favorite! No other bakery can match Dolce.

Dolce Bakery is my happy place! First of all, their cakes! Dolce's cakes make every day and special events SO delicious, fun and special. We love to stop in for a slice of cake (or even a small cake!), cinnamon rolls, biscotti or scones. We have worked with Dolce many times for event orders, from breakfast pastries to all different flavors of cakes. Every time our attendees go crazy over Dolce! The team is so easy to work with, and accommodating. Owner, Erin, has put so much of her heart, soul and family recipes into Dolce and it shows. Love Dolce!

Was at a wedding last night and the cake was lopsided and tilting. A message was sent to baker or bakery and no one came out to fix. Very disappointing for the brides.
Staff was super friendly and kind! I was in a rush and could have been more personable but they treated me with friendly and efficient service this morning regardless! I work at a specialty bakery in Omaha and my boss who used to live in OP recommended Dolce's to me for my trip here. She recommended the cinnamon rolls and I'm so glad she did. I love a good cinnamon roll and this was perfect. It was baked properly and still soft and had a wonderful amount of cinnamon gooey goodness to pastry ratio. The only thing I was upset about was how fast I ate it! Also tried a Mini Blackout Chocolate Cupcake and it was equally amazing.

Got there first thing on a Tuesday morning to get their GF cinnamon rolls only to find out that they only have them on Saturday mornings open until about 930/10 (when they sell out). That would have been nice to put on their website...
We did a dessert bar for our November 2019 wedding, and everything Dolce did looked and tasted amazing. Jessica put on a great tasting and was so accommodating when one of the people we brought along was gluten free. They were flexible when our guest count increased about a month out, and everything ran smoothly. Most importantly everything was delicious. People are still telling us how good the desserts were.
We go here with our kids all the time. It is a great bakery. I was not a big fan of scones until I had a scone from this place. They are really delicious.

This place is a little Gem! I have had an ongoing love affair for Dolce Bakery, they do amazing work! The moment I started wedding planning, I already knew Dolce would be my cake provider. From the moment I scheduled a consult to the cake tasting with the bakers to the actual day of my wedding was such a breeze. Also they are very reasonably priced. These ladies truly bring perfection to their baked goods. Frosting was delicious, cake was so flavorful and moist and overall presentation was so adorable! Any time I need a cake order- they get my business. I encourage anyone and everyone in the KC area to give them a try!!!

Well..., I'm a regular customer here and pretty disappointed that they couldn't accommodate me to make some heart shaped cookies frosted with a KU for a party.... Hardly seems like that was a daunting task.... I wasn't asking for a wedding cake.... Not happy!
