Last week's dinner was a 5-star experience (I believe our server then was named Jamie). We returned with friends this week and our server, Matt, provided literally the most miserable and hostile "hospitality" experience of my life from start to finish. He was so absurdly rude that I lost my appetite completely and couldn't even finish my meal. Worst of all, I glanced over MULTIPLE times while we were dining and Matt was doing shots visibly at the bar. Super unprofessional. Not sure if he's just a mean drunk and decided to let that side of his personality flourish Sunday evening, but his behavior toward us was completely unacceptable and utterly unworthy of an establishment like this. Pre-dinner, our bartender (Connor) was fantastic. We had planned to return time and time again, but I don't think I'll ever step foot in any CAAH establishment after this abhorrent experience.
Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. Menu is small but that just means what they do have is phenomenal. Also the oysters were excellent
We've been to Cherry Circle Room and always had an amazing experience. This time was no different. We celebrated our anniversary here and it was amazing. They customized our experience and made excellent recommendations. The team at CCR was so kind and welcoming; every one wished us a happy anniversary. The evening was so special, not just because of our anniversary, but because of the staff, the atmosphere, the food and the amazing cocktails. We had: Special Scallops (off the special Valentine's menu) - SO delicious Beet Salad - delicious and a perfect combination of flavors and texture Fois Gras Pate - I think I will dream of this for years to come w/ fig, smoked duck consume and hazelnuts Miller Farm Chicken with pork belly and white beans - so good The "OG" - 30 day dry aged ribeye - so decadent and delicious with creamed Kale with bacon and parm - the waiter said "If Kale always tasted like this, I'd eat it every day" Dessert - Chocolate & Mint - perfect blend of chocolate and the crisp mint I can't wait to go back next year for our anniversary! I am sure we will go back before then! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend the beet salad!
I felt like I walked into a different world. If Hitchcock was around he might have used this place in a movie. We tried some small plates and had some drinks at the bar. Beautiful atmosphere, great service, good drinks.
Ate here in October for a girlfriends birthday and it was absolutely fantastic. The manager Josh made sure our time at Cherry Circle Room was exceptional. Everyone there went above and beyond. Our food and beverages were delicious and the height of perfection. Will absolutely be back next time I am in town.
Amazing ambience, really delicious food (our group basically had a little of almost everything, including a variety of desserts & it was all drool-worthy) and the service is excellent.
The service and food was amazing! If you're looking to treat yourself, the dry aged steak is one of the best steaks I've ever had. The atmosphere was like a classic steak house, but modernized and welcoming.
Tucked in a corner of the game room, CCR offers a delicious array with fine attention to detail. I appreciated that they recognized my note for a birthday celebration and started with a Prosecco toast. Parker house rolls were good but probably not worth $8. Sturgeon was a wonderfully prepared, meaty fish - highly recommend with the Brussels slaw and mashed potatoes for the table! The staff was mindful of time constraints and attentive.
Excellent service, presentation and food. Nicely hidden gem.
We stayed in the Chicago Athletic Association and ate breakfast and dinner here. It is such an interesting place. We really enjoyed it.
Great atmosphere. Perfectly mixed cocktails. Ice cubes were crystal clear.
Our expectations were pumped up a little too high, I think. The service was sub-par for this expensive of a meal and the food was remarkably forgettable. The ambiance is gorgeous and all the small touches like unique napkins and plateware is really cool. Sadly, the food was not worth going back for. For a similar price point, with MUCH better service and better ingredients, we'll go to Lula's all day everyday over this place.
Went to the Cherry Circle Room in the Chicago Athletic Association for a business meeting. I liked the large, spacious atmosphere, and that is was low key/quiet. Waitress was attentive. I had the Open Faced Fried Egg and Ham Sandwich from their brunch menu along with a Cold Brew Coffee, and both were unique and delicious. I would definitely love to come back to this place for future meetings and get togethers!
Amazing food and staff is super friendly. The atmosphere is amazing and the whole feel of the restaurant is very cohesive and lovely.
Cool environment but average to poor food for high end Chicago feel.
Good drinks, great appetizers. Kinda hard to read menu cuz it's dark. Bartender was argumentative when I told him the ice cream in my drink seemed less than fresh
I love the lounge out front, the game room is cool if you want to hang out and play a bit and the dining room is nice. The dining room reminds me a bit of a sports book only without all the screens. Food was good but I thought the descriptions we're better.
Great food and cocktails in a great, vibrant hotel.
Breakfast place price expensive different food Benedictine eggs with King crab the very austere fruit portion, the nice place
Everything in the Chicago athletic hotel is gorgeous architecturally, cherry circle room included. A little hard to find, but love how cozy and tucked away it was. I don't think there is good ventilation in here because at the time we sat down it reaked of fish. We didn't let it deter us though. Food and drinks were delicious and service was impeccable.
Amazing brunch meal. The smoked sturgeon Benedict and the braised pork belly were phenomenal. We love coming here for dinner, but I think brunch will be happening more often.
Fabulous service, food as described, didn't even kick me out when I spilled a cocktail, and gave me a complimentary replacement drink to boot!
Great ambience with low light!! Good for a dinner with a partner or a business dinner!! Great wine list!
I've been twice here for lunch. Both times the food and drink quality was on point. Atmosphere is classy and cozy. Edit: have return many more times since, and still top quality!
Always outstanding. This is an intimate, upscale restaurant. There are maybe 20 tables plus the bar, so reservations are highly recommended. The lighting is dim, but you can see without straining and the walls and ceiling have wood paneling. They have a changing and avant garde menu in both substance and presentation. This applies to the drinks as well which are reasonable topping out at $12 at entrees around $40. The food is top notch and I always try something new. The staff is also outstanding as they really make every effort to ensure that you feel special and taken care of. There is a large open room bar just outside the entrance to the restaurant, but you will not hear it inside the restaurant. I don't think they have a Michelin star, but they easily should. Fabulous restaurant.
Drinks and food are great. Be sure to pronounce all drinks and menu items correctly or you risk quite the dirty look from the bartender. Dress fancy, or you will be treated poorly / despite the fact that you always tip well. Classic Chicago snobbibess/rudeness perfectly exhibited here- up to you to decide if the food is worth it. Cheers
Great atmosphere, very good food and amazing desserts.
High priced rate hard alcohol and cocktails. Intimate Swanky speakeasy like setting.
Cool, old school atmosphere. Great dinner menu and excellent service. Only negative e was poor dessert options.
Amazing speak easy type restaurant. Old School Charm with Modern day service.
This is the best spot in the loop that I have found so far. The chicago athletic club is a treasure trove of gems. The Cherry Circle Room (CCR) is wrongly over shadowed by the rooftop bar overhead. CCR is an incredible little spot that should be on anyone's list whether they are visiting or a local. After travelling through the interesting athletic club, you are introduced to a classic intimate space. The long bar gives a modern feel to the classic candlelit booths. The food and drinks are perfected by an excellent staff. Whether you are getting the burger or splurging for the ribeye, there is no wrong choice. Flavor is packed into every ingrident and combined for excellent traditional dishes. The ribeye is by FAR the BEST steak on Michigan. ALK looks like an outback steakhouse after eating at CCR. This is a perfect spot to punctuate a trip into the city, impress visiting family or a romantic dinner. Everyone will love the resturant and drink to their hearts content. I cannot reccomend this place high enough for anyone looking to impress in the Loop.
One needs to stick to the menu (no special request). Staf is ok, but not great in terms of service. Food is good, but not stellar. The bar on the other hand is great!
Nice place, tucked deep behind Athletic Club's crowded bar. Knowledgeable bar tenders. Sophicated drinks. Good
Good food, beautiful room, friendly servers. Service was less than attentive for an upscale restaurant. A lot of bodies standing around while we waited for service.
Yummy and great service! Cool spot, especially for those cold fall and winter nights.
Very interesting room. Getting there was a confusing maze. But not in a bad way. You have to work your way through a lot of stuff and it's all stimulating, like the game room. Yhe food was solid. I'd go more often if I still worked downtown.
A bit hidden and hard to find, but nothing else to complain about! Great food and settings.
Great food and very well trained professional servers!
One of my favorite rooms in Chicago- great bar - fabulous restaurant.
Great food and staff! Each dish has a unique flavor combination. We really loved the squash ravioli and the French onion soup. Cocktails were great as well. A pricey place but the food was well worth it!
Great ambiance but the food... not so much. The food was just ok. Maybe it was just me, but I swear there were hints of Masonic influence and I really enjoyed that! Maybe it was just the cryptic embroidery of the dinner napkins?
Perfect spot for nice cocktails, brunch, after work drinks, and/or dinner. Such a unique room. Amazing wait staff (Katie B is the best!).
It is quite difficult to find the place. There were not many options for food. What we have tried with lamb sausage was ok. I guess I was expecting more after trying so hard to find this restaurant :) a lot of stairs and turns!
Wonderful dinner post ballet - food was fantastic- service was very friendly attentive but not overbearing- just right - atmosphere is cozy and unique- only oddity was the music - didn t fit with the vibe of the restaurant- still the cherry circle room is a hidden gem that I am glad to have discovered!
Absolutely incredible service and atmosphere. Dark, but cozy. It's got a kinda "this might be a secret illumanti meeting space" vibe (lots of art with symbolism around the room). Our waiter graciously answered all our curious questions. Apparently it used to be a men's club for the wealthy, so they built all this symbolism around the club. And the food, wow. I got the asparagus and risotto. Fantastic combination. Both cooked to perfection. Probably the best asparagus I've ever eaten. Dessert was to die for. We got the ice creams. By far the best ice cream I've ever had. Great drink selection, we mentioned we liked sour beers and our waiter gave us a glass each to try on the house! The restaurant was tricky to find though. You have to go up to the second floor, walk all the through the game room and then down a hallway with a small neon sign. It opens up into this restaurant.
Very nice environment with a great staff. All the food we ordered was fantastic. Definitely an experience to have.
Great wine list and located in such a cool building. Little pricey though.
Super chill atmosphere, wonderful drink selection, great bar staff. A very nice place for a quiet, out of the way evening. This place is an absolutely hidden gem
Service and food is excellent...and always consistent!
Very elegant dining. We throughly enjoyed every dish! Attentive and polite staff. Definitely a recommend!
Lovely place at the back of the second floor past lobby and game room. Next to the elevators. They really take care to make special occasion special. I had a birthday dinner and anniversary celebration here and every time the hosts and wait staff welcomed and congratulated us. Food is bit pricy but delivers on the quality.
One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Highly recommend the Foie, Lobster Bisque and Chateaubriand. The cocktails were excellent. The Cherry Circle Room is a hidden gem!!!
If you ever need a nice place that isn't overcrowded to have lunch, please look no further. I was impressed with their wide selection of spirits. The food was full of flavor and the portion size was just right. It is a tad but pricey however I feel for the service that received it's totally worth it. The best aspect of my experience there was our bartender and server Shannon! She was amazing and made sure that about my food allergy. I will definitely becoming back to the to the Cherry Circle Room
The ambiance is out of this world. I had halibut and it was phenomenal.steaks were good. The service was fast friendly and knowledgable..high end and pricey.but well worth it
Super fun speak easy feeling resturant! Food was delicious, presentation was perfect and wait staff made us feel welcome!
Staff was great. The salad was overwhelming in flavor, the 1st wine had 5 floaters in it, the 2nd wine should have been classified as a dessert wine it was so sweet, the meal was luke-warm, and the creme brulee had raw sugar on it. For $200, the meal should have been spot on.
Would give it a 4.5 if I could. Food is excellent! Service great as well. Not good for a big group but very cozy for a date.
Fantastic location for brunch. Food is delicious, service is superb, and it opens early! A huge plus for this morning person.
Absolutely beautiful, with an expansive wine list and fantastic food.
Everything we had from the cocktails to the main dishes were all quite tasty. Interesting flavors. Only negative is the setting is very dark (but they had flashlights). Enjoyable evening great service.
Very nice atmosphere! Good breakfast and huge bar. Very lively at night. Great Service.
Amazing food, ambience, and service. A perfect stop ony latest brief tour of Chicago.
This might be the best restaurant I've ever been to in my life. Great vibe, wine list, food is over the top.
From start to finish, all aspects of the meal was 5 stars
Spectacular architecture in a classic old setting. Excellent service but moderate to high prices even for Downtown Chicago.
Great service and creative drinks. I'll be back on another visit
Very perfect dinner here. Food was really good. Special award to my cavatellis with tongue and sunchoke. A very impressive wine list, though mostly on a price range I don t go into, ended up with an amazing simple burgundy from Lignier-michelot for 60$, a rare thing... the design of the place is beautiful, service very good too and last but not least, a sound track which was exactly what we needed. We ll be back !!!
Very cool experience, the atmosphere is awesome. It's a nice small menu and offers great service.
