We stayed here for our wedding a little over a month ago, worth staying an extra night! Staff is wonderful, great food, and beautiful area.
One of the most peaceful places in Maine. We have stayed at the Dockside Guest Quarters at least 5 times since March 2001. Each experience is better than the last. The staff is always warm and courteous. We felt more than safe with the Covid-19 restrictions that are in place. For the time being, the buffet breakfast has been replaced with a placed order. The foodis just as delicious. Over several days, we were treated to egg with a tatertot bottom, cream cheese blueberry french toast and otehr delicious items.
We had a second floor room . S the carl taff brought bags to the room and later back to the car. We needed no additional help through the week. But in the past, if anything came up,staff were more than willing to help.
We look forward to our next visit.
Beautiful, peaceful location. Staff goes above and beyond. Truly enjoyed the Deck restaurant. If you are looking for some quiet down time, this is the place to be!
This place is like coming home. We are repeat guest here. It's always the best this is year 5.
What a beautiful place to be and such lovely people to help you with anything you need. Special mention to Harrison for his laidback professionalism. Just perfect!
We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Dockside Guest Quarters. This was my second visit - I plan on returning yearly. Delicious breakfast, afternoon sweats and exceptional sunsets were all a part of our visit. The Dockside is located on a lovely beach with walking paths and easy exits to shopping and exploring. Highly recommended!
Amazing stay. Staff were friendly. Accommodation was wonderful. Gorgeous view.
This photo shows the actual view from our room (109) at Dockside Guest Quarters. This is truly a magical property. Our room was about 20' from water's edge, and we could sit on the deck and watch the fishing boats go in and out. We were on the second floor of the Crow's Nest, which gives excellent privacy. The property is very secluded, away from the touristy areas. Our room was small but very nice, with a private deck and outstanding water views. A huge buffet breakfast is served in the main house each morning, and it was sunny and warm so we sat on the porch which overlooks the harbor. The first night we ate at the restaurant, which was very good (it was closed the next two nights).
Dockside is located just a short drive away from tourist spots like Ogunquit and Perkins Cove. We went in September, so traffic was not a problem. In walking distance from Dockside is a nature preserve, accessed by the very interesting and picturesque "Wiggly Bridge." The Cliff Walk is also in walking distance.
Our stay was wonderful. The only negative I would mention was housekeeping seemed to be very low-key. I set aside our drinking glasses for fresh ones each day, but they did not materialize. My husband also brought over a coffee mug from the main house, which did not get picked up the whole time we were there. These minor issues did not take away from our enjoyment of Dockside, but felt I had to mention.
Overall, I would definitely return and highly recommend the place.
UPDATE 2018 - We once again spent four days at Dockside Guest Quarters and had a wonderful experience. Housekeeping was much improved over last year. This is the authentic Maine experience. We will be back again.
UPDATE 2019 - Back again! We just love this place. Mid-September is a perfect time to visit York, and we had beautiful weather. You can't beat the ambiance of Dockside Guest Quarters. Check out the photo of sunrise, taken from our deck!
You cross the New Hampshire line into Maine and you're there. This special place lovingly cared for by the family who has owned it for years. You see the sun rise and set at the horizon line over the water. You hear the hum of working lobster boats going out at dawn. This is where the York river meets and sea and the play of light on the water creates a continuously shifting panorama. You are welcome to sit on the farmhouse porch or your own private room deck, but no matter where you sit or stand or... or sleep in until noon... you can deeply rest and pleasure in the people and the place that is Dockside Guest Quarters. Breakfast with eggs and sausages and blueberry muffins and damn good coffee and Pig's Fly Bread is served:)
We stayed at the Dockside for one night. The view from our peaceful, private deck was incredible! Looking over the bay and out into the ocean, you felt like you could see forever. Our very private room was large, clean and comfortable. When we checked in, we decided to make dinner reservations at the Dockside Restaurant. It was delicious! In the morning, we had a wonderful, home-cooked breakfast. We will be returning to this inn soon!
Officiated a wedding at Dockside this past weekend, and not only is location gorgeous, but the staff was really friendly, responsive, and helpful without question. Since the couple was staying in the Maine House, they changed my reservation to the same building at check in, without gripe or grumbling. Also, the included breakfast was the s**t! My only "complaint" is that the bathroom was tiny in that room. My only suggestion is to work on upgrading mattresses, even though the bed was comfy overall. Great stay, loved access to upper porch, ac worked well, and ceiling fan was a plus. Would highly recommend not only for a getaway but also for events!
My wife and I loved this place! Very beautiful setting and so peaceful--we will be back.
My best friend had her wedding on the property and many of us stayed in the guest quarters. We had a beautiful view and the room was very nice! Lovely time.
Lovely setting. The grounds invite relaxation. Wonderful breakfast. We had a problem with the TV, and a replacement was immediately found.
The only negative was the narrow and steep stairway to the second floor.
We had a wonderful time, loved the view, the ocean breezes, ease of walking to beaches and helpful host staff. We loved the room with super comfortable mattress. The best is the deck to sit outside and be so close to the ocean.
Great get away. Restaurant on site is top notch. Drunken lobster is best lobster I have ever had.
Rooms are clean, have beautiful, peaceful views. Breakfast (included) is wonderful, small buffet.
Really a great Bed and Breakfast.
+ Great area and friendly staff.
+ Super clean from top to bottom.
+ Grounds were very well maintained.
+ Host was welcoming and helpful.
- Breakfast could be changed up a bit.
- Room 121 was dated but again, very clean.
- Rather expensive compared to other locations in the area.
Great spot just off the beaten path with awesome views of the harbor and first class accommodations. The dining is world class Chef Dennis LaPlante is one of the finest in the Northeast.
My husband and I love the Dockside Guest Quarters! The location of the Dockside is perfect - very scenic and serene with pine trees and magnificent ocean views. We have stayed there for years and have always enjoyed it so continue to return. The various guest rooms/units are nicely furnished and very comfortable from which to watch the sun rise and set over the open ocean. The innkeepers, Eric and Carol, are patient, kind and very welcoming. They work hard to make sure their guests are well cared for and happy. Their morning breakfast selections are always delicious and generous. We are hoping to return in the late spring. It is a very special place and we are very glad that we once discovered it.
We stayed over the Memorial Day Weekend and had a great time. The view was spectacular, the rooms were roomy, clean and very quaint. The breakfast was homemade and delicious. Location was close enough to everything but far enough away for the quiet and peaceful atmosphere we were looking for. Thanks Dockside for a Great Weekend! MB
The Dockside Guest Quarters were a beautiful venue for my friends' wedding. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the rooms were great as well. Cellular service was in and out but some may consider that a plus and the wifi had good coverage. The town of York is a stone's throw away and the drive to the venue is quite pleasant.
Stayed here for a wedding. Had a lovely suite overlooking the water. A little chilly in the room (heat was only via a space heater and the air conditioner was still in the window in late October), but otherwise a nice place to stay.
We absolutely loved our stay at Dockside! The setting was picture perfect! The view everywhere you look is breathtaking! York is fantastic and centrally located!
Liked it so much, my wife and I were married there!
Place was great! Lovely rooms and the views of the water were amazing. Restaurant on site was tastey as was breakfast. Not great for walking around town, but an easy drive to wherever you need to be.
We loved staying at the Dockside Guest Quarters. Close in to York, with it's shops and restaurants, yet at a distance from town that allows for extra quiet and relaxation time! The staff is very helpful and courteous. The real star of this establishment is its location on the water--brilliant sunrises and sea activity, each morning and throughout the day. Nice place to relax with a thick book! We plan on returning!
We had the most wonderful time at Dockside Guest Quarters. The breakfasts were scrumptious, the rooms so clean, the staff so kind. We cannot wait to return!
Beautiful place! Wonderful stay! We were fortunate to be invited to a wedding happening at Dockside and because we live in North Carolina we knew we wanted to stay while we were in Maine. The views are to die for from sunrise to sunset. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable. The sheets were the softest we have ever slept on and we were thrilled that they were for sale in the inn shop. The breakfast provided was delicious and plentiful and the main house offers lots of places to sit with friends and you can sit on a rocker on the porch and watch the boats. The wedding was perfect and the hospitality at the restaurant was unparalleled. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely plan another visit. Thanks for a lovely weekend.
I have nothing but the highest raves for The Dockside! The goal of this trip was to escape from the real world, most importantly my job, and I could not have picked a better place! The grounds are serene and very well kept. Every staff member was polite, knowledgeable about the area and willing to help at any time. The included breakfast was fresh and delicious. For early risers like me, coffee and tea are ready at early as 6:30, which was a huge convenience. The room was right on the harbor and afforded comfortable lodging and an amazing view from our deck. This is a place where you do not have to leave the compound, as there is a delicious restaurant and tiki bar on site. The main house has a huge waterfront covered porch, and Adirondack chairs spread across the lawn, which are great places to read a book or just unwind with a cocktail from the tiki bar. I do not have children but I saw several families on premises and their kids seemed to be enjoying the fishing and swimming. I would recommended The Dockside to anyone and everyone!
We had our daughter's wedding there in September. It was wonderful. The setting and view is to-die-for! Staff was helpful and always available for questions. They helped us through all our questions and made sure everything went well. The food was excellent (well above expectations). All our guests were very impressed.
This is not a Marriott. The buildings are older but it is a very clean and well run seaside Inn. (They even arranged for the moon to rise over the harbor entrance during our stay!!).
We would definitely go back again! Thanks Dockside!
Excellent place to stay for people of all ages. Great harbor views, close to York Village and in walking distance of the harbor beach.
The accommodation's were absolutely awesome! The staff was great & very friendly more than willing to assist you with any needs. the views were & are breathtaking!
We very much enjoyed our stay in the Lookout section, Rm 123 as it was quite private with spectacular views. We set the alarm for 5:30am to scoot to the beach to watch the sunrise but were pleasantly surprised to see the sunrise right from the bed! Fabulous breakfast, clean as could be and friendly staff make us want to return again soon!
Nice facility and location.Very quiet and secluded but very close to all parts of York. Dated rooms for the price. Disappointed that on the last day of our stay, early in the morning, there were workers loudly fixing something in the suite above us. We were very surprised that 1) it could have been done after we checked out and 2) the hotel had very few guests staying giving them plenty of other rooms to fix first. Mentioned it to the staff at check out and received a "sorry."
The Dockside is wonderful! Carol and Eric are wonderful hosts. Breakfast each morning was a gourmet treat. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. We look forward to our next stay.
We had a perfect stay at Dockside Guest Quarters! The Captain's Quarters is a fully equipped three-bedroom home that's very comfortable and beautifully situated at the water's edge. We had a lovely dinner at the Dockside Restaurant and spent several evenings enjoying drinks on The Deck. I didn't even wait to leave to rebook our family vacation next year!
Very nice location. Gorgeous views. Room was dated for the price. Breakfast was difficult for vegetarians (ate a LOT of bagels;-) Coffee was ok but not great. Told coffee would be available at 6:30 but machine wasn't turned on. Had to figure out how to start it and wait silently (to not bother other guests) while coffee brewed. On site restaurant was VERY good (modern design and delicious food).
We ate at the restaurant rather than stayed at the end and we ate there last year and it was outstanding and it was the same this year the only issue I would say is the service definitely got really slow between the appetizers in the main course not sure the reasoning why but it was so much longer than expected but still the food was excellent and would definitely go again
The Dockside is by far our favorite place to stay in Southern Maine. it Is nestled on a promontory overlooking the ocean and the mouth of the York River. The Inn provides peace and solitude, plus unbelievable views. We look forward to our next stay there!
Everything was very clean, staff was nice and breakfast was amazing! Great view of the harbor.
This is our favorite Maine destination. It is quiet, serene, and overall very classy. It feels like you are living in your own Yankee vacation cottage on the coast. They do an amazing job anticipating and responding to your every need. I can't say enough about how wonderful this location is.
Stayed at the Dockside for a wedding. The grounds were beautiful and perfect for a spring wedding. The rooms were nice and clean. We opted for a room with a living room and kitchenette which worked out great to hang out with friends. Breakfast had many choices and everything was very tasty.
My husband and I took a few days before moving to our new home and stayed at the Dockside Guest Quarters. The breakfast was delightful, from the homemade breads, muffins, poached and scrambled egg choices to the afternoon homemade cookies.
The location provided us with the serenity we needed to decompress relaxing with a cup of coffee on the porch and gazebo overlooking the beautiful seaside water views.
The staff and management were cheerful, friendly, and efficient making this a pleasurable experience we look forward to repeating.

Our Perfect Maine Stay
What could be more perfect than a country inn (Not a chain anything!) on its own island one can drive to that is also a fifteen-minute drive to Portsmouth NH, one of the best small cities anywhere. What could be better than to arrive at the Dockside, smell the sea breezes (& the roses, Charlie R), and after unpacking, take a short walk to either their fine restaurant or dock-side bar, for a libation prior to dinner. Perfect.
Going with the recommendation of staff, we booked our room with a private deck overlooking the the harbor. The accommodations were just right, and much to our delight, we were treated to fireworks in the harbor our first night in York! The staff happily provided beach towels and chairs, which we took with us on the short drive to York Harbor beach. Breakfast on the front porch was enjoyable, and we dined at the restaurant one evening, as well. Definitely recommend Dockside Guest Quarters.
Quiet, beautiful and relaxing. My wife and I have spend the last weekend of October there for several years and look we look forward to our getaway all year long.
The owner and staff are all very pleasant which caps off our enjoyable annual retreat.
Make the trip to the Dockside you won't be sorry. Jim & Sandy
Great views of the water.
Friendly staff.
Just a quick overnight trip.
Will definitely go back and stay longer soon.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Dockside for a girls night in York and we are so glad we did! I thought we had reserved a room with ta ofview of the ocean and a porch but we were upstairs in the main house and not completely satisfied without either of those. I talked to the woman out front and she was so awesome! She happily moved us to one of the other buildings, which I had read were dated but this room was perfect for us! We had our own porch and beautiful views of the harbor! The bed was comfy and the grounds are gorgeous! The next morning the continental breakfast was fantastic! Such attention to detail and everything was delicious! It was all homemade and very high quality! We were so happy with our stay and how kind everyone was that worked there that we want to bring our husbands back in the fall! I did think that we were on the beach which although we were on the ocean there is no swimming in the harbor. I can see this being ideal for people with boats! It was actually quite removed from short and long sand beaches but we were able to find Ubers so we didn't have to drive back at night. York is a great place to visit in Dockside is definitely a great place to stay!
We have come back to the Dockside time and time again. Just a great relaxing atmosphere. Their idea of a continental breakfast is perfect. And the addition of "The Deck" was a great idea. Can't wait for our next visit.
My wife and I stayed here and absolutely loved it. The view is amazing, the area itself is great. Close to Portsmouth, NH and not too far from some great places in Maine. Definitely look at the website and pick a room based on what you're looking for.
The grounds were well kept and the staff was prompt and helpful.
When they say the views are excellent, it isn t an exaggeration! The view from our room was spectacular! The owners were excellent and the service was fantastic. The bed and pillows were great. One of the best places we have stayed in our 26 years of marriage. We will be back.
Room 114 has a wonderful deck with view of the water and the bed was very comfortable.
Great location, nice rooms and facilities, super breakfast included.
Great place to stay; Fantastic views and staff. I would say the rooms are traditionally New England which is in keeping with the buildings and location. Highly recommended for special occasions.
Wonderful place to spend a few days or more!! Great accommodations and the best view on the shore! Fantastic breakfast with fresh fruit, specials of the day including
waffles, quiches, baked eggs, etc. included daily ! Served with your own carafe of hot coffee or tea.
The grounds are so spacious, perfect for the situation these days!
Hope to return in the Fall.
Needed to get away for a few days but wanted to avoid large crowds. Dockside checked all the boxes! Quiet, peaceful B&B. Beautiful view of the harbor from our 2nd floor balcony. Lovely relaxing time.
Delightful! We were warmly welcomed even though our flight had been cancelled and we were delayed a night. The breakfast was delicious! The room was clean and the bed comfortable with a huge picture window facing the waterfront. There is also a picturesque porch with chairs facing the water. We used their bikes for a short ride around the area and saw a bald eagle and her nest. The hosts were very kind and offered tips on exploring the area. What a great place to stay!
We were looking forward to our stay, but our flight was several hours delayed, which caused us to miss our connection. As if it was not upsetting enough to have lost the first couple days of our vacation, the manager of Dockside was completely unwilling to work with us for even a partial refund of any kind. I did not expect a full refund so close to our stay, but in the event the room wouldn't have been able to be rebooked (which I doubt would have been an issue in the peek of the season) it would still have been one less room that needed to be cleaned and three less people eating a meal. Even a small refund could have been given, would have been appreciated, changed my review, and wouldn't have left such a bad taste in my mouth about the owner. I am appalled by the lack of compassion and understanding we were shown for something completely out of our hands. It was a stark contrast from dealing with the manager from our other booking that was affected by our itinerary being thrown completely off, who I gave five stars for working with us to the best of his ability. I will never book with Dockside Guest Quarters again. This is just bad greedy business.
When in York, ME, we have stayed at the Dockside since about 1999 because it consistently provides the kind of experience we want when in coastal Maine: peaceful, quiet grounds, nicely appointed clean rooms, perfect ocean views, great food, friendly innkeepers, relaxed atmosphere. That's what keeps us coming back, time after time. Note that sometimes they are booked with weddings, so things are probably much busier then. Also, their on-site separate restaurant, another favorite of ours, closes about mid-October, before the Inn closes for the season.
We enjoyed our stay at Dockside Guest Quarters. The staff was friendly, and our room was immaculate. We loved the antiques, books, paintings and boat collection in the main building. It was quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended for anyone who needs some peace and serenity in beautiful surroundings.
My wife and I block out four rooms each year for a weekend getaway for our kids, their spouses and our grandchildren. It has become a standard for us and easily the most enjoyable vacation we have ever done as a group. We will continue to come every year.
