This is a premiere movie theater with a pre show a real theater organ and one of the best sound systems in Los Angeles
Cool.place to impress someone that's a Disney fan, a bit pricey for a Family of 4 though
Location used for the entry of LUX in the "Lucifer" series, which is however different from that of the "Sunset Tower Hotel". The scenes that portray him are in fact shot in front of "El Capitan Theater", another place famous for its connections with the great cinema productions. This Churrigueresque style building (exuberant late Baroque) has been used for years as the location of the premiere of Disney films such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Toy Story. The attraction not to be missed for those who decide to visit the impressive theater is certainly the phantasmagoric Wurlitzer organ: four keyboards and 2500 pipes scattered around the room give the music played live all the suggestion of Dolby Surround.
Nice 3D, heavy glasses, chairs are too low.
high screen quality
Best place to get that Hollywood nostalgia with a touch of Disney
Great place to see Disney movies like The Bad Bunch! Park across the street for validation. Eat down the street in Thai Town, too!
Sensational experience in this wonderful and historic cinema.
so this theatre has a tremendous history, its architecture is something of the past that just leaves you in wonder, from the carpeting to the beautiful pillars and layout. Its magnificent place to be in. So why 1 star you may ask? Well here lays the problem. Its the one thing that is consequently overlooked - the one thing that is just short of good.
The seats, the seats in this place are extremely horrible. They are completely uncomfortable. They are ancient - and with the ticket prices they charge for the novelty of going to watch a Disney movie release at such a land mark of a place - the seats are the one thing that probably keep me, and many other patrons from coming back. They are old, rickety, narrow, short knee room, really low, and very uncomfortable.
it's impossible to endorse a movie watching experience at a movie theatre - specially with the asking prices they charge for film, when the seats are completely obsolete in these days and times, it makes no sense. After one visit - there is no reason to go back. No matter how great the movie might be, or how nostalgic the theatre heritage is.
NEXT!
Historical beautiful building, ffriendly staff, always fun!
Was nice! Disappointed in the showing of coco.. the band before was magnificent but I was hoping they would decorate the theater for the movie. It's such a vibrant colorful movie that would have been really special.
Had an amazing time, and our daughter got to dance with the mariachi band before Coco. A very special experience.
This is a great visit to the past. Extremely clean and well staffed. Tribute to the great 20s movie houses, Disney style, complete with live organ event prior to movie. Don't miss the real crystal curtain pre show
El Capitan Theater is a classic movie theater owned by Disney and sits on Hollywood Blvd. adjacent to the Chinese Theater and The Egyptian. El Capitan has the advantage of being able to show props from movies shown and providing a classic experience. An organist was playing Disney songs and a laser light show preceded the showing of Star Wars The Force Awakens. Concessions and bathrooms were decent and parking across the street was easy to get to/from.
If this is your first time going to El Capitan, you can park at the H&H Parking Structure behind the Dolby Theater and have the first 4 hours validated for $2 at El Capitan.
We took Millie 3 El Capitan to see Toy Story 4. They were very nice and took me and Millie down the elevator to the second floor where we got to see forky. It was my first time there and I enjoyed it I highly recommend it
Go every year to see nightmare before xmas, people are nice and friendly, kind of a walk from the parking, but it's nice to look around after the movie and check out all the shops around the area.
Beautiful theater , great pre shows and comfy seats
Wow. That was fin. Live organ and Q&A with the director after the movie.
You can never go wrong with watching a film here. Most often than not, they will do something special for a film. Like a show before the show. It's kinda there thing to do this. For example for the film "Coco" they had a mariachi band and since "Coco" is part of Disney, they showed a "Frozen" animated short. When I went to see "Star Wars The Last Jedi" they had a lazer light show. The whole interior design is also quite nice but nothing special.
One of my favorite places to be is El Capitan theater I love the preview shows I love the the downstairs basement where you get to view the costumes and props the service there is wonderful always with a smile it's clean it smells good it's a happy place to be and watch a movie
This place definitely needs an upgrade. Seats are so uncomfortable and no leg room . I think this place is way over rated.
I saw the premier for ant man and the wasp and they treat their guests very well
Best place to watch all your favorite Disney movies. It's a must with the family
Really liked the place, great sound. Smaller seats, which made it cramped. Still liked the place and the props!
Amazing place drinks way to expensive but it's Hollywood
THIS PLACE IS MAGICAL! THE BEST MEMORIES WERE MADE HERE WITH MY FATHER AS A LITTLE GIRL, AND NOW I'M ABLE TO CREATE NEW ONES WITH MY LITTLE ONES.
Love the historic theatre. Popcorn is pricy and stale. Scary neighborhood, wouldn't go there at night.
Beautiful building, comfortable seats and wide screen to watch the movie.
You HAVE to go watch a movie in this theater at least once. there's a bar and also don't forget to check out the restrooms! You'll feel like you're in a mirror maze
Not loud enough, paid extra for a souvenir and got a lame one, hella meh
If you re visiting Hollywood and have kids bring them. The live organ show before the movie is awesome. Cool historical building
Good place to bring the kids and watch classic Disney movies!
This theater is beautiful. It has a old world vibe that is reminiscent of the golden age of film. I have been a few times and they always have something cool to pair with the show.
I love going to El Capitan Theater when ANY new Disney movie premieres! Today was a wonderful experience!
The El Capitan is the most fun and classic cinematic experience you'll experience in Hollywood. From the organ player playing classic Disney tunes before the film, to the amazing 4-D experiences offered at some of their screenings, this movie theatre is everything you'd want out of a film-going experience!
The theater is beautiful inside and staff were all very courteous and pleasant. Loved the live organ music while we waited for the show to start. Great place to see a movie. Worth dealing with Hollywood traffic and B.S. for a special occasion.
I do like this particular movie theater! The environment was excellent, and the customer service was simple and great. Even, the food and beverages they served were all right. When we entered the house, the chairs were perfectly arranged, and the television was wide and incredibly noisy. It sure was worth it to be in your movie theater. It's highly recommended!
Great experience in this historic place. We went for a Halloween showing of Hocus Pocus. They had an organ player and great live actors doing a scene from the movie as an opening act. Better book tickets before getting there as I've seen some long lines.
Went to see pirates, it was this 8 year olds birthday, during the entire movie her guests showed up and with the staff they would stand in the isle as they tried to figure out the seating situation while blocking the view of the movie and being rather loud the entire time. The 8 year old and her entire entourage were loud the texture movie. Not joking the last guest showed up when the movie had 10 minutes before credits rolled.
It's always a good experience. They just need to update the seats
I loved going to the El Capitan! Went to see Beauty & the Beast and it was beautiful almost every seat there has a good view of the screen which I was very worried about. I recommend Early arrival and buy tickets online or way ahead of time if you want hard copies! and make sure you park at the mall across the way.
Visited Christmas 2018! We watched Mary Poppins Returns Nostalgic Theatre on Hollywood blvd. Wurlitzer pipe organist plays before the show very well put together program!
We saw Rogue One: A Star Wars Story there! Cool beans!
I went here to see black panther and they had the costumes that actors wore
We love the El Capitan! Every year it is a family tradition to see the Nightmare Before Christmas! Any other movie we see is fantastic. The preshows are fun, not to mention how great it is to see pieces of the movie on display. I highly reccomend any disney fan come here. There are booster seats for the little ones, so be sure to bring the whole family! Parking is across the street. Enjoy!
It may not be the biggest screen, but seeing movies at the El Cap is always a Devine experience. So beautiful and they always have exhibits and special event promotions that enhance the whole experience.
Amazing. They go all out. Not expensive for what they do.
Went to the Lion King sing-a-long and had a great time. Only issue was the sound kept cutting out at the early portion of the movie
This might just be one of my favorite new places to watch Disney movies. An old, but beautiful building, the El Capitan looks as if it was once the talk of the town. Though perhaps not the most hi-tech and modern theater, the El Capitan definitely provides that perfect family feel, offering pre-shows before the movie and friendly introductions made by the staff. You really feel like you're there to enjoy a movie with other fellow Disney lovers and friends.
A fantastic experience to see a Disney film. The organ was a particular treat. I got a VIP ticket that came with the soda and popcorn, it was great. The curtain show before the film was a real treat as well. This is definitely where I would want to see any and every Disney movie.
Very helpful, courteous, employees. My favorite theather.
Great staff..my son wouldn't stop crying they gave him a coloring book and a tour to chill him out...great place
Love it! This theater is owned by Disney and exclusively shows Disney movies. It's definitely the best place to watch Disney movies in Los Angeles. There is usually a nice exhibition of costumes and props, character meet and greet, or photo opportunity to go with the movie being shown.
Sometimes it's great to go watch a movie in a classic landmark.
If you want to see a Disney movie....this is the place! Great staff, kept everything moving smoothly - from entering to concessions- to getting seated. And the movie experience itself is great.
Yes....it's a little "old school", but it's awesome.
I wouldn't take my Grandbabies to no other Theatre they have such a good time here
Watched Avengers Endgame at this historical theatre which enhanced the whole experience!
Lovely old building, love the stage with the curtains, and you can even see the numbers where the dancers take position on the stage. Easy to access from public parking or the public subway.
Unfortunately the seats are old, and VERY uncomfortable. The aisles are small, no legroom, the bathrooms are dirty, and the staff ranget from okay to rude bastards.
All in all not bad, but a very pricey Disney tourist trap.
Not a multi plex! So wonderful...such a beautiful experience! I'll definitely come again.
Disney's very own movie theater on hollywood blvd, disney studios uses this location to premier their movies every other week with a red carpet event complete with celebrities and paparazzi. inside this location they have props from both the featured movie and previous films. in addition they have been known to hire actors in costumes to give a pre performance inside the theater for the kids who are very excited to watch the the feature.
Awesome place to come see movie classics; loved the presentations that are done before the movie.
