Staff is great here. I recommend buying tickets through gold star.
I am not a fan of this theatre. Not because you now have to go through a security check before entering but for the pricing and seating. The prices are high BUT, you do get that cute song and dance show before the movie starts. The seating downstairs is sloped but not stadium so when someone sits in front of you, and they always do, it is difficult to see. While the seating upstairs is more expensive and stadium style, somehow, there is always an obstructed view; I have moved around several times even sitting upstairs to try to find a good seat. The parking in the area is terrible: lots are about $15. I suggest taking the train in to Hollywood.
Great place to watch movies. I love visiting old theatres. The staff are friendly and their service is good. They work hard to make sure you that every visitor will be happy. I'll hope to visiting this place soon with my friends.
Great theater and many exclusive showings with behind-the-scenes artifacts, museum, etc
Fun environment, especially for thr kids but the sears are narrow so be prepared to be a little cozy with anyone sitting next to you.
It's a Wonderful theater overall. I was just passing by. But I remember seeing a lot of great movies here. If you ever get a chance at definitely recommend checking out a movie here once or twice
Its alot of fun. To see classic Disney movies there. Parking is a pain.
Such an experience being in these older theatres. If you don't like hearing kids all throughout your movie though, go elsewhere. I have to admit though, k owing this theatre is ran by Disney, hearing kids is very forgiving. Saw Dumbo, and loved it. Can't wait to see Avengers here!
Clean, tastefully modern, ample personal space, especially for the long-legged movie-going giraffes like me. Great assortment of refreshments. I have a very short list of theaters that are around nowadays which provide a decent, movie-going experience without feeling like I'm sitting in current-day coach class on domestic flights, and El Capitan Theatre is on that list.
Many people at the Stars Stairs on Hollywood Boulevard. On Holywood boulevard you have to pass right in front of the hill
Smells funky. Nice venue but feels very cramped. The lobby should be bigger. They offer the usual theater snacks and drinks.
I expected the sound system to be better and the screen to be bigger. But it's a good theater nonetheless.
Nice place!
But cold :)
Beautiful theater makes every movie feel special. The organ is awesome!
They make the movie theater experience memorable and exciting. If you're going to get off of Disney+ or Netflix and get out to the theater, this is definitely the way to do it.
Went for Frozen II and the whole theater was transformed into a destination for that movie.
The entire inside wall was covered with giant life-size images of the characters for photo ops,
The auditorium was decorated with the rocks and carvings from the movie,
Autumn leaf confetti showered down at the end of the movie,
And they had an organist playing popular Disney songs on stage before the screening. Weeks later, My 4yo was still talking about the way the organ lowered down into the floor below the stage.
And the movie characters (Anna & Elsa) came out on stage before the movie started.
Make sure to get there at least 30 mins before the showtime because of the line getting in and the preshow events.
If you park across the street at Hollywood & Highland center, they validate for 4 hours. I think you still have to pay a flat fee, but cheaper than if you didn't get validation.
Great place to watch a Disney or Pixar film!
I watched Monster's University and had a fun time! I enjoyed the organist playing a few tunes and I was surprised to see a pre-show! A bunch of dancers came out and started singing and dancing. It was pretty cool.
I liked the historical look and feel of the theater. Pretty unique and fun. Definitely recommended for families, dates, or Disney fans.
You can always find deals on Livingsocial or Goldstar.
I would come back and watch another movie. :)
Love it when they decorate according to the theme of the movie! And also the props on display that were used in the movie! Spectacular! !!
This was our first time here and WE LOVED IT!!! It is a beautiful theater and their friendly staff makes it even better!!! We will definitely be coming back
Great to see the nightmare before Christmas has package deals
I love the El Capitan Theatre. I see all my moves there.
The experience is one in a lifetime. There are alot of special effects and shows and that's before you even watch your mivie
Going to see Black Panther, beautiful theater but the popcorn is not good, pre made
I had a chance to see the iconic El Capitan during a recent trip to LA for the Red Carpet Premiere of Pete's Dragon. I love visiting old theaters and was impressed by all the work that was done to restore the theatre to its original state. It is beautiful and easy to imagine the crowds showing up for live theater.
They show one movie for several weeks and have been premiering Disney movies since 1991. Before the movie starts you are treated to music form Ethel (the organ.) This is such a fun unique way to wait for the movie to start and so much better than ads like at other theaters.
The staff was incredibly friendly and worked hard to make sure everyone was where they were supposed to be. The next day we were even treated to a special behind the scenes tour. We even go to check out the Hall of Fame which is filled with pictures of stars and events.
This is a fantastic place to see a movie and I can't wait till I get back to LA to see a movie here again.
Lovely old theater. From the art in the lobby to the video and sound systems in the theater, this place is totally state of the art. I love bringing my kids here to see the newest movie coupled with a pre show that never disappoints.
Awesome movie theater have to go at least once in your life
One of Hollywood's beautiful landmarks filled with the ambiance of a bygone era. Owned by Disney now, I and my family very much enjoy getting the VIP treatment here.
Still reminds me of when I was a child, great theater! Would not have wanted to see "Aladdin" anywhere else but here.
Great theater experience for the whole family specially when it's a premier movie they usually have a show before the matinee.
Best shows for Disney and Marvel movies, they have special shows and props from the movies in the basement! Must go for fans!
a disney staple... you can catch the latest disney movie, or sometimes they'll run older disney movies with a twist (ie Halloween time they'll do a 4d version of nightmare before christmas). try to buy tickets online, you can reserve seats that way too.
the balcony is a decent view
Can be pretty expensive for your average movie goer but it's well worth the experience once in a while. They always have a lot of behind the scenes stuff and the actual theming is Disneyland quality.
This place brought back the the child hood inspiration any time I wanna forget the grime of Hollywood I come here well when I could afford it .
Great show, the theater is beautiful. Was very impressed with the customer service. Was a full house, and so organized it didnt seem so packed.
This place is mostly fine for nostalgia pre-show events, but parking to get there is a nightmare, the seats are small, and there isn't stadium style seating so you can get a really tall person obscuring your view. If they updated their seating it would be more worth going there.
A great place to make a child's movie experience a little extra special. Great for adults as well. Classic theater seating in the bottom area, balcony seating available. Ability to grab VIP seating for reserved seats with a popcorn bucket and a drink. The specials shows before the movie and special displays at the bottom are definitely worth the price of admission. Parking available across the street with validation. Arrive early since there is a metal detector inspection at entrance.
This place makes going to watch a movie a whole new kind of experience. It is worth every penny for just the pre-show and free popcorn seasonings.
Went to go see the Jungle Book, they had a live band perform some songs from the original animated version. Their laser projected screen is 10/10. It produces very deep blacks and very vibrant colors. Best picture quality in Los Angeles.
Beautiful theater with amazing sound. The staff is fantastic too. I like the galleries upstairs and in the basement. Stunning!
Best thetere ive ever seen seen cars 2 worth my money
Black Panther!!! Was a little cramped but a great place nonetheless
very old Los Angeles art decco theater taken over by Disney and brought up to its majestic prime. Wonderful place to see first run Disney animations, they typically put on live shows before movie or play an old pipe organ from days of old. Great concession stand, plastic buckets for pop corn and Disney gift shop for after movie. Like everything Disney, very high value but at a costly price.
Super when you have the opportunity, go is beautiful to see a movie and going out of ai to walk to see the stars
It was my 1st time and didn't disappoint!Enjoyed thoroughly.
I had an amazing experience my first time there. I love this theater
Love. Love this theater!! MY kids are teenagers and they still love to come here. The food is great and the customer service is unbelievable
Great venue - wish prices were not so high on concessions. Ordered something and they were out and needed to make it. Waiting over 30 minutes for it, but they delivered to my seat. If you want popcorn and a drink, ok. I'd stay clear of pretzels though.
A true Disney experience.
Must see. Balcony center seats are the best.
great experience to watch Disney movies EXCEPT, the seating is horrible ! you'd think the seats would be comfortable for the price you pay. They're almost stadium seating ...
PLEASE work on this ...
great theater, saw Lion King and had a great experience
A little expensive for a movie but the atmosphere and experience are well worth it. Definitely make sure to stop here and see a movie if you are a Disney fan!
Doug is a champion! This was our first visit and it was great! The nightmare before Christmas.
There is something special about watching a Disney film in this theatre. There is a lot of history in this place and you are part of that history by simply watching a film here. It brings out an emotion in your heart that might have been long gone and it brings out joy in children, joy that can only be brought by the magic of Disney. The El Capitan will bring you back to the Golden Age of the film industry bringing modern equipment along into the journey.
We watched Black Panther here and they had the whole theatre decorated like Wakanda.... It was beautiful! I loved the small museum of Black Panther costumes that the real actors and actresses filmed in that they had in the lower level!
This is a great place to watch any Disney movies with the family. Saw Rogue One and it was awesome.
A beautiful building attached to the Gharadelli chocolate ship on Hollywood Boulevard (the two shops have a heavy Disney tie in (El Capitan is a Disney owned building I believe).
We saw Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas in 4D. Was a great experience. Started with an organist playing music live on stage. Then the organ lowered below the floor of the stage.
Main feature was 3D and on occasion there were physical effects such as lighting, some fog and even snow falling in the theatre whilst it was showing on screen.
Was also supposed to be the smell of pumpkins but we didn't notice that one (also I did notice the strong spearmint smell of the woman chewing gum next to me!)
$14 for adults, $11 for kids (with a premium package that includes popcorn and a drink)
We were in row H, seats 9 10 and 11 and I don't think you could have gotten better seats in the orchestra section. There's also a balcony section but the ticket guy said orchestra get a best 4D effect.
Next movie coming was Hocus Pocus with others coming.
For a 3D or 4D experience, it's a must as it's a one off experience for most kids!
We saw it at 10am but if you see the evening show, drop next door to Ghiradelli for a chocolate sundae or banana split
It's nice and an okay experience. Only uncomfortable part are the seats and the little to no space you have while trying to enjoy your movie.
Always a wonderful experience as theatre is decorated to fit the show playing.
Super cool! They premier disney movies at this theater and show disney movies for the public. We saw The Incredibles 2 and it was so great!
El Capitan is a beautiful and truly Classic experince
Had a great time watching Coco here! They had Mariachi and Olaf character before the movie, as well as a Frozen movie short film. Definitely a family theatre. Get there early, like 1 hour before the movie especially if they're doing anything before. That's a must! Clean restrooms, good concessions, seats are a bit uncomfortable after a while, and cramped. They don't recline. I'm 6'2" though. My daughter was squirming a bit towards the end of the movie, seems like she was getting uncomfortable as well. Great sound.
Helpful staff clean facilities amazing place I'm from Vegas and this is Def by far my new most favorite theatre
