The most lavish of four Hollywood Blvd theaters designed for live performances, it opened in 1926, featuring stars such as Buster Keaton, Clark Gable, Henry Fonda, Jason Robards and Will Rogers. It was renamed the Paramount Theatre in 1942 and became a movie palace. "Citizen Kane" premiered here. Its original name and appearance were restored in 1990. The exterior is Spanish Colonial style and the interior is East Indian.

Amazing sound, amazing 3D experience, amazing place and amazing life show and movie presentation before the movie. We watched Brave there and it was really worth it. It's really bad that they don't let you choose your seat when reserving your ticket on site though. They serve their customers on first come first serve basis and it really is bad because people tend to line up for too long and they hold many seats as reserved leaving you only a few choices. Try getting your tickets online.

Love the exterior, the shining signage, very Broadway feel. Can't miss it when you drive by the theater.

2 floors theater, not too big, every seat is a good seat. Very well maintained and all the staffs are very helpful and friendly. They have VIP seats and general admission seats.

The theater is across street from Hollywood & Highland, totally a tourist attraction. Perfect place to shop or dine before or after the show.

Great experience except for uncomfortable seats and very little space. Manager greeted us before the movie which was nice. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great having live music before the movie.

One of the most beautiful theaters I've have the pleasure to visit. Situated on the northern end of Hollywood Blvd The El Capitan is a classic theater restored to glory. This Disney property is historic and exudes the magic of old Hollywood. Buy tickets in advance because there are limited daily showings.

Super Tip : If you don't have a little one and want to actually enjoy the movie, go to the latest showing.
Too many cryers at my screening, and the West coast thinks it's acceptable to leave a crying kid in the theater and not be respectable and take them out to the lobby.

Also make sure to get there early to enjoy the organ player. I love how Disney makes everything magical.

This place is so unique on it's own. Either a live musical or performance before the movie or both! The picture quality I would say is 8/10. Sound is like a 7/10. The seats are 5/10. They dont recline at all or have any walking space between rows so its difficult to get around. Other than that it's a nice place. I would go to Chinese theater inside tho.

An outstanding theater with a rich history; visiting will not disappoint. Even after your feature is complete, you can walk through El Capitan's Hall of Fame with pictures of historic events at El Capitan, such as the opening of Citizen Kane, and various Hollywood star inaugurations.

This is an extraordinary movie theater. No only is it humongous, but you have a feeling like you are watching a Broadway show, as opposed to a movie, including having balcony seating. This theater also has a lot of history, being a fixture in Hollywood since 1926. Pricing is very reasonable for tickets and food at the concession stand.

El Capitan Theater was awesome! Beautiful inside. Saw the new Aladdin. Ticket price included getting our picture taken onstage w/Aladdin backdrop, getting to wish on Genies lamp and getting to see some of the beautiful costumes from the movie (in glass cases)before we got to see the movie.
