Dirty Al's Bayou Grill Review

Was looking for a great place to have dinner and I found it. This restraunt has great sea food and the dinning experience was excellent. The atmosphere is inviting and staff is friendly eager to answer ones questions. Price wise is a bit in the moderate range but worth every penny!

ordered fish and chips got some weird calamari instead. to say politely my quite quickly stomach did not agree with it.

If you are white dont waste your time. Took 20 mins to get a seat and they had 20 tables open. Plus another 40 mins to get our food. 15 people in the restaurant

Great food and service , love their specials, nice and quiet surroundings dings!

Couldn't eat the $6 bowl of clam chowder. Waiter took it away and didn't even ask why it wasn't eaten. Still charged me full price for the full bowl of uneaten soup. Disappointed

Can't go wrong with seafood at Dirty Al's. Delicious.

Meal and service five star for sure. We shared the Molcajete Gomez which is served in a heated lava like bowl. Cheese base continued to boil throughout the meal. Very tasty and fun meal.Best happy hour ever. Margaritas are $1.75 and strong also the food is bomb af too. Such a great atmosphere as well!!Ceviche tostada was not only cheap but very delicious! Cheap drinks as well!

Compliments to the chef! We ordered four different dishes, and each was excellently prepared. The beet salad was delicious, as was dessert! The wine list is exhaustive and high quality. Plan to pay for it, but it is fully worth it! We look forward to returning.

The food was great. The service was exceptional. Have been here several times. The servers remember us and know our preferences. Will continue coming back.

Always a good meal at Dirty Al's. The last time we ate here was during Lent when we picked up our meals curbside. Nice to be able to dine in again. Tables were well spaced apart and the place was spotless. Eric was our server and took very good care of us. We both had the fried fish and shrimp combo and splurged with a brownie with ice cream for dessert.

Some of the best if not, the best sea food in the RGV at the best prices anywhere. Love your food, thank you for everything you do through out the quarantine. Really appreciate it.

Great place for seafood and cocktails. Fresh seafood from the gulf of Mexico. I will be there often.

Beer was hot, waitress offered to put it in ice. . Food was not the best. Shrimp was clearly frozen. Not coming back to this location

Ordered 1 frozen margarita. Yum! Not stingy with Tequila. Ordered 2 plates fish & shrimp & okra. Meat was served on plate okra. 2beers. Was yummy. Bill like $40. Will go again.

Food is really good, specially the SEA FOOD BOTANA platter is one of a kind . Staff and service is always good also the place is always clean we enjoy coming here with family and friends.

Good food. Good conversation with friends. Our wait person, Jessica, was a delight, attentive, accommodated our special requests, and had a nice sense of humor.

There were 11 of us, 3 had excellent meals, which we were always used to, if a little pricey. Four of us had horrible, messed up orders. The whole table had the worst service we have ever had at Dirty Al's. They used to be a favorite but we won't be back.

The shrimp got smaller the fish is ok but the dirty al's special sauce they are stingy with it doesn't come with the order of fish and shrimp so you have to pay extra . Dirty al's in the island all you can have sauce Brownsville Dirty al's all the sauce you want I'll stick to the island one and pelican station in port isabel.

Food very good and fresh. Really enjoyed the Crawfish; 2 pounds/$8.99. Monday only special on the crawfish.

I am always impressed by the quality of the seafood. It's always fresh and delicious! The portions are generous. I love the fried zucchini!

My colleague and I (from Houston and Austin respectively) visited McAllen for business today. We assumed we'd end up at PF Chang's or some other acceptable chain restaurant. But I had a few minutes to kill and googled restaurants in McAllen. We literally stumbled on to this treasure.

FOOD: all fresh
PRICE: they currently have a "special" *$5.99 for 1/2lb. shrimp (blackened or cold boiled)*
SERVICE: or waiter, John, checked in us regularly & was very friendly
CLEANLINESS: average

Terrible service. It literally took 1 hr to be seated. The waiter didn t offer us appetizers. Food took another 45 min to come out. Waiter didn t come back during entire meal to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Food was blahhhh....wouldn t come back...ever. Not even the drinks they advertise on their tv screens in the restaurant are served as they promote them. Even the waiter said oh yeah, we don t serve it like that . But it s what you re promoting???? Lol.

The shrimp are the best around. My waiter was very good also.

Really was unhappy with the food. Just wasn't up to par. It is really nice restaurant. Won't give it a rating not fair to management.

Just left the restaurant being so distraught at the fact our visit was horrible. We tend to have a trouble with service everytime we come to this location which is sad bc we love the location at the beach. Well tonight it was a total of 6 people that came in at different times. From the beginning the waiter was horrible. Took 10 mins for her to even come to greet us and ask for drinks. We did not once get a refill the whole 1 hour and a half we were there, it took her over 10 mins to bring my husband's beer and had to remind her twice each time he ordered. Instead of having our checks spilt for each couples she put it all on one tab and charged "service fee" . I have been a waitress before so I know how things work but I always know one is to WORK for their gratuity . Which she did not do what so ever. Result she made $20 bucks off of us, we walked out unhappy and still hungry (didn't get the nearly enough food for $60 bucks)

We were with a table of 12, most of us have eaten here many times last winter. Today we had a horrible experience, it took forever to order our food and receive our food, most of us had the 8 or 10 piece shrimp ( most of us were cheated a shrimp or two from our order). with salad. In the past the salad was considered one of the sides, at no up charge , tonight it was 1.89 extra, our waiter did not tell us this. When I complained to the manager, He was very rude, refused to accommodate us, he told us he didn t care if we ever came back. We live in a very large 55+ RV resort , we are all Winter Texans. We will make sure all our friends are aware of this terrible service and our experience. Also the shrimp was 1/2 the size it was last year.

Great place for a family dinner I love the botana here great price and good for love the environment

I won't be back. Ordered raw oysters for a appetizer that never came. Waitress said they must of forgot. She took our dinner order and said she will check on the oysters. We'll they brought our main course and still no oysters. Finished our main course and still no oysters. She asked if I wanted to talk to the manager and he wasn't much help. Offered me a free appetizer on next visit. Problem is I won't be back to get it. The food we got was good but the bad service outweighed the good food.
