The cooking classes are so much fun & very informative. There are so many products available...so hard to decide what to bring home! Hard to find & unique items. Great place to shop for yourself & for others (lots of gift ideas when you need something special for your favorite cook/baker).

Racist establishment. I have entered this store many of times and noticed I do not receive the same greeting or attention as my white counterparts. Today was my last day even bothering. No one genuinely seems interested in helping me and more-so look like they rather keep an "eye" on me. They had a black/spanish chick not too long ago, seems they fired her too. Staff is far from diversified and I have heard rumors that they don't like to hire or even review the applications of minorities. An employee even cried out on facebook saying she was fired because of her sexuality, this has been a long standing rumor of this store PREJUDICE STORE - minorities and those in the LGBTQ community, they don't need our hard earned dollars

I have taken many vegan cooking classes and enjoyed them very much. Despite having an unsatisfactory experience with the speaking teacher I gave her another chance. In the last class she used chocolate chips that contain dairy. When I mentioned this to her she said but it s only the fifth ingredient. This time she used dairy in the breadcrumbs and another non-vegan ingredient. We couldn t eat the dinner. The class cost $69. When we ask her for seconds of the brownies because it was the only thing we could eat, she said we will see and then proceeded to give them to the people who work there. And worst of all when I contacted the teacher as instructed by the cashiers the email she was extremely rude and insulting and sent me numerous emails that were rude

Always friendly staff. They carry a varied and extensive range of products that may not be found elsewhere. The knife sharpening is a big plus because all of the revenue is donated to the Berkshire Humane Society.

I have been coming here for years and was very happy with the service. My kitchen is full of equipment I bought here. Customer service has dramatically diminished in this store in the last couple of years. Here's just some of the experiences I have had recently:

The staff were more interested in moving items in the store to differnt locations then helping me. Another time, I went in to purchase a grater and was shown a shredder when I told her the difference she told me that there was no such gadget to turn cheese into powder like the kind you find in the grocery store and that she wasn't going to argue with me. I was merely stating a fact. I walk around the store a little bit went back to where the graters were moved a few of them and found the exact gadget I needed. This was the last straw, the day I purchased the grater I purchased a cooking class they were having. Last Friday I called to see when the class was and the individual told me that it was that Thursday, so now I am out $69.00. Called and complained first to the manager to no avail and then to the owner he said, "I don't know what to say." He could have offered another class. I will never go here again!

I am so impressed by the customer service provided by multiple individuals at Different Drummer's Kitchen in Albany. I needed a last minute gift for my husband, and really wanted a specific item for him - which they happened to only have one of on reserve for someone else. They went WAY out of their way to try and see if that one was possibly no longer wanted or if they were going to drive to their other store to get the other one they had in stock so that I could have his gift for him on time. They ended up getting it way earlier than expected for me. Then, they also brought it to me at the door once I went to pick it up because I called and asked if they would since my daughter was asleep. I am so impressed and would highly recommend them to any customer!

I have always had ok service before, but yesterday I went in looking for a french press for a present.I was helped by Michele, who showed me one and attempted to show me how it worked(but had difficulty).I asked if it could be ordered in red and she said yes.She showed it to me in the book,I paid for it and explained it was a gift and she said it could be returned for credit if they didnt like it.I got a call late that evening saying they couldnt order on my answering machine.I called back and no one knew anything about but said I would get a call back the next day.I never got a call so I called around 5:30 pm and they just said they would credit my credit card.I went online myself with the company Bodum and ordered myself and free shipping and the same price.I thought it was better to do business with local but I guess it is just easier on line.

Went to my first cooking class here taught by Caroline Barrett. It was a really fun and relaxed environment, the food was excellent, and Caroline was very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend!

The store and supplies they have here look great and are high quality. My review is regarding a cooking class I took there. It was my first cooking class and I paid $69 to chop a potato and stir some cheese. The class appeared disorganized and after prep and a few mixing opportunities the chef took over. I m not sure if I read the description incorrectly, but I was under the impression the class would be more hands on. I could have spent less than $69 on food items and turned on YouTube and had a more hands on experience. I think the description was vague and people should be aware that they may not have an opportunity to actually cook.
