Wonderful restaurant. Great vibe and ambience
Their food is really delicious. Had the Grilled Atlantic salmon and was phenomenal.
Price is a bit expensive, but definitely worth it !
Firecracker cauliflower was to die for. All good was exceptional.
We went for restaurant week and were extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. The steak was chewy and overcooked and poorly seasoned. The fries were limp and the salmon was well cooked but coated in an overly thick sugary glaze. Dessert tasted like boxed cake and a reheated pop tart. But the ambiance was nice and the staff was great.
Great food, wonderful location, attentive wait staff.
I'm a huge fan of their "buck a shuck" during happy hour and unlike some other places, you have a choice of oysters (they usually have four varieties). If you live anywhere neat Rittenhouse Sq there is no reason not to stop in once a week on your way home from work.
1/13/18 - They recently changed buck a shuck so you don t have the choice of oysters. It s a bummer, but still worth going to.
I enjoyed the customer service i can see myself returning, the food is worth the money to spend
I would never go there or recommend no to go there had reservation and still had wait sat table was not offered no bread or nothing had asked wait for everything , one hour wait food that was cold lobster & steak and dry. Never again will I go there.
This restaurant is one of our go-to places for a fish dinner. There's always a list of just-caught fish; the food is fresh and satisfying. By the way, it's one of the places in town where you can go for "buck-a-shuck" oysters on the half shell during Happy Hour -- a pleasant place to eat. In the nice weather, the front windows open and there's curbside tables.
seafood at this location - excellent. great hospitality. next time i'll be back with my coworkers. this place has a nice atmosphere.
I love this place for a special night out. The seafood is high quality, the prices can be a bit steep. Crab cakes are amazing. Staff is knowledgeable about the seafood and dishes offered.
Crab cakes were good...but the Mac n cheese was not the worst I ever had
If you like seafood and to sit outside on a nice night...winning
Great location in a vibrant street! The food is great as well.
-1 star as we were super rushed by the waiter to an annoying degree!!
Chocolate lava cake is not that good and wouldn t recommend it.
Well done steak.. was red.. Came back pink... Maybe I'll just order seafood next time. Hence the saying you shouldn't order steak from seafood restaurant lesson learned..
Great location and service. 1 dollar oysters during happy hour every day!
The restaurant itself is not impressive. From entrance, there were used plates, glasses and utensils welcoming you (they're from the outdoor seating customers). Then, as you enter, there's a weird smell that leads up to the kitchen and even around the restrooms. Not to mention that you will have fruit flies hanging around while you're dining...way too many flies! So If you get easily turned off by these and you're looking for fine dining, I don't think this one is it. However, the food is good. Tasty and flavorful. Wait staff are friendly and attentive.
Had a business lunch here, spicy gumbo was fantastic. Pretty cool atmosphere, location is perfect for a dinner date since it s just across from the park. I will be returning for dinner.
Food n services was horrible the manger did even come over n ask was we okay are bill was 140 for the food that was not what we order wait a hour long for the food n it was not what we ask for i will never go back to this place maybe it was the color of are skin that night very bad buiness in it was my b day dinner a surprises
I usually don't write reviews... but I felt compelled to say that I really didn't find anything stand out from the dishes I tried for Happy Hour at Devon. I had the duck flatbread, oysters and mussels. I was really looking forward to the mussels, but they were pretty bland. The flatbread was nothing to write home about and the toppings for the oysters lacked flavor also. The environment was fantastic and my lemon-basil manhattan was delicious. The food, however, could probably use a makeover.
Highly recommend! Everyone enjoyed their exquisite meals... I can personally vouch for the cioppino ^_^
Great seafood, great location with indoor and open or outdoor seating. Daily and Market fresh selections and good selection of wines with a full cocktail menu. The food we had was really good but I haven't had enough to get to 5 stars yet. But I will go back. Give it a try if you aren't worried about a few hundred bucks for drinks, apps and dinner for 2.
The food is amazing the ambience is nice. Very nice place for a romantic evening
First time at Devon Seafood Grill, went with a small group of business associates. The food was very good, fresh, well-prepared and nice size portions. Service was ok nothing really bad, forgetful with some items that were ordered, kind of but things out of sync but nothing major to fret about. Overall the quality of the food out ways the minor flaws in service. Would definitely return next time I'm in Philly.
Loved it. The waiter was very nice and down to earth. The drinks were perfect and the food was amazing
The Lobster bisque was everything that people were talking about! I had the crab cakes and they were also delicious.
Celebrated my daughter's 25th birthday here. Great lobster bisque, crab cakes were tasty too. Excellent service from our server Rita. We had an awesome night.
Food was seasoned well, however a little undercooked.
The food was great, I ordered the Seafood Mix and it was awesome. The reason why I give the restaurant a 2 is because the customer service was AWFUL. We had a table of five and our waitress was a young lady. She never told us her name and seemed pretty restless. I was asking questions about the food because this was my first time here and she rolled her eyes while answering my question. Afterwards I did not want my lobster mac and I never touched it, when I told her she said "Well I came here twice, and you never told me you didn't want it, so what do you want me to do about that". I did not know I had a time limit on my food, after wards I asked her for a straw because I didn't want to drink right from the cup and she throws the straws on the table. Overall, my experience was not the best because the waitress basically ruined the night.
P.S. it was my bestfriends birthday.
Excellent service.
The lunch specials were reasonable. The spicy gumbo was great!!!
It is probably my fault but I ordered the shellfish ciopinno (not right spelling) I have had it many times at various places and it always came with pasta. I assumed this would come with it too. It didn't it was only the same amount of seafood that I would get from the other places I had it and it was pricier. At the point of receiving my meal I didn't want to take a chance of then ordering sides because my food would have gotten cold waiting needles to say I was not satisfied at that point
I went during restuarant week. Great service and atmosphere. Will definitely dine again. My server was, Douglas, a GEM!!!!
Adding to the extensive and vastly delicious menu, servers are knowledgeable & gracious in accommodating food sensitivities. Their attentions generate an optimal dining experience.
Great seafood and steaks! Nice beer and wine selection. Great location, sit outside across from Rittenhouse Square and people watch!
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful dining experience tonight at Devon Seafood Grill. Delicious steak with crab cake, wonderful asparagus cooked to perfection with Yukon gold mashed potatoes made for a very satisfying diner. We topped of the meal with an unbelievable carrot cake and fresh vanilla ice cream. We had a fantastic waiter, Caesar who made us feel right at home along with the other staff. We will be back again very soon.
Food was good, small portions, service was fantastic.
The carrot cake is sooooooo sweet and decadent. Love the ambiance.
Best seafood I have had in a long time. Even the bread and the buttery spread they provided was outstanding.
Can't say I'm too impressed with this place food was mediocre at best. My wife told me "remember we went here a few years back?" I couldn't and now it won't fall into memories of places to go back to ether. Probably the best thing on the menu we got was Tuna Poke. The rest was hit and miss... even though presentation of it was excellent salmon carpaccio felt like they took that salmon out of local pre sorted ACME packaging and served with a dish. On Surf and Turn. Filet tasted like they broiled it and then just tried searing it at the end. And same thing with Swordfish that we got. Overall ok. But definitely not my first option to go back to.
Great food; great atmosphere. One of my favorite places for happy hour, casual or formal dining. Excellent service and good food.
Excellent dining experience!! Wait Staff very attentive and personable!! It was my husband's birthday, and they acknowledged it with a dessert of his choice!!
Top place in Philly for seafood and great location at Rittenhouse Square. Bar gets pretty busy as well which can make it a little loud, especially if there is a game on.
Fun cocktails and friendly staff good for a special occasion!
Did not find the food to be terribly remarkable. Service wasnt bad, environment was good inside the restaurant ; however, outside was chaotic and the parking prices are rediculous. For all the trouble it took to actually get there, the food was a bit underwhelming. It's ok .
The food is consistently delicious and the service is good
Great place for a business lunch. The biscuits are fantastic, as is the calamari (perfectly cooked). I can also highly recommend the crab cakes.
We came here after reading the reviews and seeing that the owner is very accomodating regardless of the the reviews..I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and this place did not disappoint.. our server, Anthony T, was the best.. great recommendations on the food and apps.. started with the lobster bisque, calamari, and crabcakes.. we were already full by the time the main entree arrived. She had the mixed seafood grill and I had the surf and turf, complete with scallops, filet mignon, lobster mac and cheese, and potatoes.. i needed a bag after sampling each item, thats how full we were.. still had room for the carrot cake which was enormous and out of this world good.. bottom line our sever was awesome and very attentive and decor very tasteful as well. We will be back!
Excellent food and great service! Would have given 5 stars but a bit too many flys/bugs flying around...
My boyfriend and I went Friday night. We were super excited to try this place. Ordered a nice bottle of wine which was very good. Ordered the shrimp tacos as an appetizer. Then ordered our meals. My boyfriend ordered the roasted potatoes as one side.
We didn't get our food for an hour and 20 mins. We never received our appetizer. My boyfriend got mashed instead of his roasted potatoes. We never got a refill on our water. Our waitress finally came to us at the end of our meal and we were too annoyed to complain. My meal needed salt.. there was no salt and pepper in site. He didn't eat his trout.
I've never had bad service in the city before. We are really bummed out since we thought we were going to have a great night.
Went to Devon for New Years Eve. Dinner reservations were set for 8:30 and we arrived at 8:15. We were seated close to 9:00pm. While waiting for the table my husband and I ordered drinks from that bar. I specifically ordered a Dirty Martini extra dry up with blue cheese olives. It was terrible!!! It went back and ordered a glass of red wine. We placed our dinner order of the New Year Special which consist of a 6oz Filet and 1/2 Lobster Tail and other things. We always order our steak MEDIUM. After waiting well over an hour, our food arrived and at this point we were extremely annoyed and our excited mood became somber. The waitress was very apologetic and offered a soup or salad for the long wait. We both declined since both were part of the New Year Special. The lobster tail was a very nice portion which was a surprise but it was steamed in salt water. It was the saltiest lobster that I have ever tasted and I could not eat it. The steak was so dried out my husband requested steak sauce. He became so disappointed that we did not have dinner because of the taste of our meals. This will not be a place for us to return. We will always remember this experience.
Great food. And service. The biscuits are good i kept ordering more
Amazing, food was good, everythinh tasted fresh, love the setting
Food bad. Grilled seafood is not grilled at all, but out of microwave. Overpriced microwaved food. Service is even worse. Stay away!
My waitress was the best part. Our food was closer to warm then hot and the food was not seasoned at all. Carrot cake isnt a cake but cupcakes with good toppings. My bill was over 100 and the food wasn't worth it to my opinion. Both my salmon and shrimp could've used another minute to cook. The place is nice none the less but food was not it.
What was disturbing was out bill for 2 entrees an appetizer and a bottle of wine came to almost $200 . Right, classy meal classy bill....No problem. When I returned from the rest room the waitress was packing our leftover seafood in a TRASH BAG. I was appalled and let them know in a graceful manner. Their reply was they had run out of "to go" bags and then offered us a Banana Republic bag for our food. I felt further offended when moments later the couple seated beside us was provided with not one BUT TWO proper "take out" bags for their uneaten food. I feel like calling a lawyer for discrimination tbh.
Completely forgettable, disappointing, lousy service and WAY overpriced for what you get...the fish all seems frozen.
Great Happy Hour. Friendly staff. Good place to meet up with friends.
Awesome service, our waiter was Isaac and he took great care of us. It was my birthday dinner, my friends took me out. He addressed all of us by name, gave us great tips on the food, but I know the menu by heart. That's how many times I've been there. Isaac brought me a slice of carott cake with a candle on it and sang happy birthday. One of my friends are still talking about how good the food was and the great service we received.
Devon used to be our "go to" spot in Philly, but unfortunately the quality of service has declined. Not sure if we will be back.
Very elegant restaurant. The food was delicious. Very well recommended.
Not as good as expected or from my recollection. Was a bit disappointed in flavor and portioning of the dishes.
I've dined in at Devon's and had a great experience with the service and the food. It really is so fresh and delicious! For New Years my boyfriend and I wanted to try their take out menu for a nice dinner, and the food was still very good, but the menu had a set course list which had a set price. We ordered the set NYE menu and sadly the delicious dessert was forgot out of the order. I understand its busy but when you pay for a set menu you expect to get everything included. I called back shortly after picking it up, but was too far to return back and spoke with a manager who was very nice and said he would refund my card for the cost of the dessert. However, now a week later I have yet to see a refund on my account. I do still enjoy Devon's, but unfortunately disappointed in the service this time around. Especially since businesses are relying on take out orders right now.
We went for a meal and had been told
it was a great alternative to Parc. It s not. While the food was very good, the service was slow and at times odd and the restaurant was dirty.
Our server would slam down drinks, got one of the starters wrong and gave us an drink order from another table. The service was also extremely slow and unfriendly although the restaurant wasn t busy.
The food was actually great but the $125 bottle of white wine was warm.
The worst thing of all was the state of restaurant. The floors in the restaurant and bar had debris and food on them to the point where it was crunchy to walk. Yuck.
Missing attention to hygiene and cleanliness at all levels in a seafood restaurant doesn t bode well.
Food was delicious, service was good. I'm not really into the servers having to act pretentious, but they were attentive. Food saved the day...those biscuits!
