With the Pandemic happening, it's deserted; hardly anyone there! Probably about 1/3 of the stores where open, and most of the major one's are in the middle! So if you wanted snacks or antacid, you've got to walk back for them! Well off to the lower mainland yet again, finding work anywhere is getting to people! Was told to be at airport 2 hours earlier, what a laugh; hardly anyone there! Through security with in 10 mins. The problem being there early none of the mini stores are open! But once they're open it gets swamped or people walk away because prices are just about double inside the airport than they are on the outside of the airport!

Took a trip out east to show off our new baby to my wife's family. At security because the baby was sleeping they told us they would bypass the car seat. At the scanner a woman took the baby seat (with our baby in it) and walked away (out of sight) while we had to wait in line untell we had our turn to go through the scanner. NOT OK. To take a 6week old away from parents sight in a busy airport. Not happy at all.

This airport needs a total facelift... half of it still is outdated the washrooms are very small in the old section of the airport. Considering Edmonton is the capital of Alberta it would be nice if this will represents the Alberta it really does lacks personality. The facade the departure area the boarding lounge of the North end is disappointing..

Easy to make your way through and does its job correctly. I've been to many airports, and this is one of the only that I've had minimal issues in. The few issues that I did have were solved immediately, efficiently, and with great Canadian hospitality.

It's absolutely brutul and embarrassing that my home city Airport cant get wheelchair accessible transportation in a timely matter. Everything i fly back home the Ground Transportation Services takes forever to just find a wheelchair accessible ride. Be prepared to waste at least an hour of your time. It's time the government regulators step in.

I have flown into and left from YEG dozens of times, both in the sweltering +30C heat of summer and the -40C bite of winter. I've seen it packed under a meter of snow, swept clean by windy rainstorms that threaten to tip over the buses, and baked by a late-afternoon sun so hot that the Canadians get a little testy. Just a little. But YEG doesn't lose its utilitarian charm, and even boasts a few sweet moments: * Upon entry, there's a walkway slidewalk on the way to customs that includes a beckoning sound and light show. * The baggage carousels decorated with team gear, figures, and TV instant replays - one for the Edmonton Oilers, the other for the Eskimos. * The Tim Horton's that serves as the first joy of Canada, and the Harveys burgers as the last (right by departure security). My only gripes about YEG: * The Wi-Fi never seems completely debugged. Either it's the logging-in situation, or the goofy "become a member" rigamarole, or the throughput seems saturated, or it just doesn't work at all. * The US-side of things needs Canadian concessionaries for our departure binges. I want a Tim's, not that lame Starbucks stand that can't seem to brew a good cup of coffee. The food options are equally dreadful. How hard is it to best represent Canada for a visitors last moments in YEG. * AND STOP TRYING TO SHOVE "EIA" DOWN OUR THROATS! We like "YEG"; it's quirky and delightful. Whatever faction decided upon "EIA" as a desirable replacement are clearly against joy, rainbows, serendipity, and chocolate :-) Seriously, stop with the "EIA"; it adds nothing to the attractiveness of the airport and is part of the downward slide to forgettable mediocrity; think EWR or SLC. Also, opening now at a YEG near you, the mall! Yes, there's a concerted effort to have retail and restaurants in the area just adjacent to the airport. I adjudge this a good thing; there'll be more hotels, food, gifts, distractions, knickknacks, and things to do before leaving and after arriving. YEG, until we meet again...

Edmonton International Airport has 60 restaurants and shops. Very clean small airport easy to navigate no chance of getting lost and great customer service. You can fly plenty of domestic and very few international destinations. EIA need to add more direct international flights!

LOL @ the guy who said "hillbilly airport in the middle of no where"! LOL I somewhat agree but you have to admit they TRY. All you see is oilfield workers with camouflage or company hats lol. Escorts from back east and a few pimps. I enjoyed the Heineken Lounge pretty cool. What ever you do fellow Easterners, DO NOT MOVE TO ALBERTA! If you work here and can fly back and forth do that! I made the mistake of moving here when I should have just flew back and forth. Economy went to sh** now Im stuck out west! URGHH

This is probably the most incompetently run airport on the planet. Showed up well in advance only to encounter a security check line that took 1.5 hours to get through. Absolutely incompetent management when they know how many travelers are set to depart at any point in time. We now get home at 12:30 am! Thanks so much for not doing a good enough job.

This place has improved greatly. But the achilles heel is picking arrivals up. Try picking someone up here. Only one row and they have some Parking Nazi make you pay for a 10 minute stop. Not enough rows for an Airport this size. Always crowded and dangerous. Forcing cars to circulate to pick up people. Fix it properly. God knows it costs a lot to fly.

Nice and big depending when you have a flight the airport is not that busy. Normally the security line goes pretty fast. Plenty of options once you passed security for snacks or meals. Well kept and looks nice.

The pick-up can be parked in front of the flight arrival gate, but there is a fee, which costs $ 4 for ten minutes and a maximum of 45 minutes. If you need to pay for the renewal, it is better not to use the same card to pay, otherwise the time will be overlapped and overpaid.

Lots of shops to waste your time with. The only things bad are the automated security line that separates you from the rest of your party and the wifi isnt secure, so youll have to use your VPN.

My overall experience was just OK. Few points to highlight would be: 1. Wi-Fi was good 2. Restrooms need to be renovated 3. Self Check-in process wasn't very clear. However, the staff was helpful. 4. Security check line was bit long

Baggage belts broke...massive lineups...delays at security...missed flight to job in Fort McMurray...but my luggage made it...now laid off due to your equipment flaws...EIA had no contingency plans...now what do I tell the family...as you are enjoying Christmas dinner, think about a family missing theirs, from something you caused.

Sad venue selection, only select seat areas have outlets, the travelers lounge here was almost twice as much as the one in Calgary. Very easy to find places to drink in this airport, but the ones that actually had food were way overpriced. (~gate 60) There is an asian wok place, but they're crappier than thai express and charge 50% more. Next door to that is a burger place, which the burgers are $8-16 and are no better than the $6 burgers you can get from McDonald, they go have decent fries but for $3. Also has a Tim Horton at the complete other end of the airport. As far as i could tell those were the cheapest options, they have a bunch of cafes and bars and a Boston pizza. Damn Border security here is also bored out of their minds so they bug you. Was stopped 3 times for simply walking through to the next checkpoint and they pretty much wanted my life story. Guess its suspicious to be away from your destination when the airline sent you there for a connecting flight, even more suspicious when you dont have a checked bag when the carry on and personal bag limits can easily hold two weeks of clothes.

Flights were great. Security was quick. Baggage claim takes forever. I would have expected it to be a little faster since it is not overly busy but 40 minutes waiting for your bags after your flight is frustrating to say the least. Parking was also good too so the experience was a good one overall and without the baggage claim this review would have been significantly better.

I always get selected for a pat down at this airport. Heathrow, Warsaw, Frankfurt, Beirut, Calgary, Ottawa, Las Vegas, Punta Cana, Rzezow airports had never selected me for an extra check. I guess EIA is scared of people with black hair... the original review is from 2016 I think. Today Oct 29 2018 I still feel the same about this crappy place

Considering I travel for work and pleasure nearly every week. I find this to be the worst airport possible. Mostly addressing my concern with Security. CATSA takes things to extreme measures when stating their rules . I understand rules very well and follow them consciously. However, the attitude and rudeness from the CATSA employees is through the roof. I walked through the Nexus line up got my boarding pass scanned and my nexus card checked and the security man escorted me to the next security man (even though there was clearly no other place for me to go because it was only one line up anyways)... seems like they re over staffed and bored. As I went through the metal detector, a young male agent was expressing himself to another co-worker about wanting to get called into the office, and that a manager had addressed something about him, and he vocally it was total shit ... Im not sure which business in a public place considers this behaviour to be professional. Especially with children in the vicinity. Next, after going through security and having to get bags checked, An old lady was getting her bag checked by the CATSA agent. The older lady pointed out that she has her Medication and there s a lot of it. The CATSA agent snapped at her and said Yeah, I see that! (Completely uncalled for) When another agent was rifling through my bag, she literally rummaged and dumped and threw items from my purse into the bin in order to accumulate it into the clear liquid bag. Was her throwing necessary?!? She was able to fit everything except a small Vaseline lip balm. She said it had to be confiscated because rules and rules. (Over a silly lip balm) I understand rules, and completely agree with them, however she missed a couple items after I had to put everything back in its place... if you want to be thorough and rude, be thorough. CATSA should definitely tone it down with the attitude and rudeness along with working on being professional considering the environment they work in. I have never in my life experienced this type of treatment like this at any other airport. Completely appalled.

I visited EIA six times within six months due to my work , with the same disappointed experience .they are so picky, through out items other airport in candaC allow me to Carry on ... I think they are picky at the wrong people..what they through out cheese even though it was less than 100g only because it's not very solid??? ..one time they advised me that I can put my liquid cream which is less than 50g in different big than their's .next flight they gave me their plastic bag and the one doesn't fit they through it out even though in front of me they allow another lady two plastic bags but the denies that to me...so if you can avoid this airport do that.

A family member of mine had an unfortunate incident prior to travelling with his wife and three kids, which required him to use crutches. He was flying with Swoop airlines, and while hobbling to a departure gate at Edmonton airport with his children, asked a passing by Air Canada cart to drive him as he was having difficulty. The Air Canada employee told him they were unable to give him a ride because he was flying with Swoop airlines. Terrible service by both airlines. Swoop didn't have the resources to help (neither a wheel chair or cart) and Air Canada wasn't willing to help.

This airport sucks!!!!!! If you fly out on the US side be prepared to hate your life. They spent millions on this addition and it s the worst design ever. If you are hungry the Relay store is your best option. You have the grand choice of Chilis express, Quiznos .starbucks and the fine quality prison food of Wings!!!! Non of which you want to eat before boarding a flight where there is only one washroom. If you are lucky enough to belong to Premium lounge you can enjoy that between the hours of 5:30 am to 10;00 am All of these reasons are why we keep loseing flights. Do yourself a favour and drive to Calgary if you plan on going international

YEG is a really beautiful airport! I fly out of YVR and while it has some cool nature displays, it is all pieces cobbled together. YEG is one long concourse(and I mean long, like 90 gates in a row!). Every passenger gets a great view, lots of variety and they have this terrific lounging/living space just as you get through customs. They always had a fantastic musician playing there and it's just perfect after the stress uf rushing to catch your flight and clear customs on time. You pull up a seat and just chill to some fine tunes! Now, as I mentioned, it is long! If your gate number is 90ish as mine are, you have a really long walk, more than 5 minutes for sure. BUT, there is yet a second cool lounging hub with another musician area so you can do it all again. Amazing liquor store with the craziest brands in the most incredible bottle design variety I have ever seen. YEG has a dandy selection of F&B spots, knick knack shops and it wouldn't be YEG without a Gretzky's Wine Bar!

Years and years ago Edmonton closed its Municipal Airport based on promises that having one airport would bring the city "lots and lots" of direct international flights. Well, has anyone tried to fly direct lately to Japan? China? Germany? France? Italy? Australia? No direct flights to any of those... you have to connect through some other city to get there. Recently, I had to be crammed into a twin-engine propeller plane to fly to Calgary to get my direct flight to Japan. I had to walk to and from this little "puddle jumper" outside the terminal on the ramp in the weather. When all the lies were being told to people about closing down one of twork airports in Edmonton, I told anyone who would listen that it takes passenger numbers to justify direct flights and Edmonton was being better served with jet service to connecting flights from the Municipal at that time. Closing an airport wouldn't mean big international jets would start dropping from the sky to our single international airport 45 minutes south by car, cab or bus. Edmonton lost big time to those shysters back then and we're still paying for it years later.
