I signed up to a lot of agencies when I decided to change my job after being in the same role for 11 years. I got the usual 1 liner phone calls from them all saying they have my details if any thing comes up we will let you know. With Deverell Smith this was completely different. Alasdair is an absolute diamond. He called me regularly and gave me fantastic advice. He was always on the ball and helped me in making one of the biggest decisions in my life. After 2 weeks and 4 interviews I was offered a position through Deverell Smith. The weekend before I started my new employment I obtained a terrible head injury leaving me with permanent lack of sensation to my head, a fractured skull, hematomas and concussion that is expected to last several weeks. The concussion caused me to be ill, irritable and dizzy. I informed Ryan and Tommy that I had had a severe head injury and they updated my new employer that Sunday as I was yet to be handed their contact information. The week started off well but on Wednesday evening I had to attend hospital for the second time as my headache had become Unbearable. I left the a and e department at approximately 5am on Thursday morning. I had sent 4 emails to my employers pa in the mean time keeping them updated. I ask to take the day off as sick and the pa s response was that it was fine and to retrieve the doctors discharge notices as soon as possible. Immediately after I had spoken with Ryan I made my way to the first hospital I attended. I was about to make my way to the second hospital when my new director called to fire me. He said that I didn t fit his idea of the company values and told tommy that he had a bad feeling about me from the start from when I asked if my petrol allowance could be looked at. This man offered me the lowest amount within the bracket he was advertising. Ryan and Tommy made it seem that it was extremely unlikely I would be considered if I wasn t to move to the area and so I did. The pressure was also from the interviews. I spoke with Tommy and Ryan on the Monday after which was 4 weeks ago. Despite them telling me to not apply for any other positions or contact any other recruiters they have not been in touch since. In this time my apartment was vandalised and all my belongings where broken. Thousands of pounds worth of damaged. I was looking into my options moving forward with the company who so unfairly dismissed me but it looks as though all I can do is to write to them. Which I will be doing on their canvassing letter they sent through my door so unkindly (they are a lettings agent and asked whether or not I wished to rent my property with them). I m asking that you take an interest in your customers and not just your clients paying the fees. Also Ryan and Tommy said on the phone that Monday that I was lucky to get that job and insinuated I wasn t ever good enough, flattering!

They are a highly professional and dedicated agency, who do their best to place candidates in suitable roles.

Anna is the best recruitment consultant ever - So lovely, she helped me get my dream job and cannot thank her enough!

I applied for a position through this employment agency. I can't say that my experience with this agency has been a positive one. When I arrived for my appointment with Lucas I was then kept waiting for 10 minutes in a glass cubicle, and then the consultant went through my CV in great detail with a fine tooth comb. I was then informed that their client already had their quota of candidates for the position and were no longer interviewing. Why one wonders was the position still open? First impressions normally count and having dealt with this agency I would not recommend them. I would not waste my time again.
If a candidate makes the effort to arrive for an appointment on time, having traveled some distance, then the consultant should ensure that they do not keep the candidate waiting as it doesn't look very professional. Having lived in both the United States and Spain and had very positive experiences with employment agencies who really make the effort to help candidates secure employment, it does not really give me much of a positive experience with employment agencies in the UK particularly in London.

Really listen to the needs of the client and put forward candidates accordingly. My experience is limited to Tess and Ellie for the most part, but if that's an idea of the company as a whole, then they're doing something right!

Had only excellent experience dealing with them for both temp and perm jobs.

The Consultants listen, take care to find matching jobs and manage expectations well. Excellent industry knowledge too.

Once placed they provide superb after-care and go out of their way to make sure the placement is successful.

Both the company and their consultants really seem to care about their work and focus on quality long term. Rare!

Also, it has been one of the few agencies that are modern nough to have an open mind about the industry and avoid placing candidates based on stereotypes. Respect!

Unprofessional and disrespectful. You apply for positions they advertise, you even call to get feedback on your application and they do not come back to you. When I spelled my name I heard a change in the voice tone of the lady who was on the phone. I believe that they are only looking for a certain type of candidates. What a shameful company !
