My husband and I went to check this bakery out as we are new to the area. There were 3 employees there, and they didn't even acknowledge us. Not one word. So we left. Their cake slices are small for the price.
We put an online order for my mother s birthday and had the worst experience. We set a pickup time of 3pm, and when we arrived at 3:40, it wasn t even ready. Even worse, they neglected to let us know that they didn t have the main item we needed (and the birthday girl s request). They could have called us in the morning and let us know so we could have made other arrangements. Instead, the employees could have cared less and tried to get us to fill it with something else in an effort to not issue us a refund. I used to like this place, but the service gets increasingly worse and today s experience was flat out inexcusable.
Love the cake. Strawberry cake is awesome. Downfall, cake was cold, so had to wait to eat at home. Fav dessert spot
Stopped by today not too long to get a few goodies for the road trip back home. The Louisiana cashier, we unfortunately didn t catch her name, made my family s experience at dessert gallery a great one. We will definitely be back!

The food is amazing! The size of a piece of pie or cake is a good size. Make sure you get that size. Sometimes they try to give you a small piece.... for 6.95. AND the only reason they don t get 5 stars is because the tables outside need to be replaced because they are literally falling apart! Food is great!

Update.. No longer serve carrot cupcakes. Their coffee machine is always down whenever I go. And we were actually served old hard cookies that can actually break teeth.

I have been buying slices of Dessert Gallery's Chocolate Turtle Cake for at least 10 years. It was the best cake I'd ever tasted. A few years ago the cake was taken off the menu for several months. When it returned it the recipe had apparently been changed as it didn't taste as good, but still good enough. After about a year's abstinence I stopped by today for another slice of the Chocolate Turtle Cake. The price had been raised to almost $9.00 a slice. Even worse when I got home and tasted it the cake was very dry, had very little of the gooey filling, and hardly any icing., A great cake is ruined by short-cuts and cutting back on ingredients. Don't think they can stay open if all their cakes are like their Chocolate Turtle Cake. There were no other customers in the store when I was there so maybe others must know about the change in the quality of their cakes.
I have been coming here for 3 years and unfortunately the quality of the cakes has gone down recently. The last few times I have went the cake and icing are old and hard, today I had the Jennifer s birthday cake and I could even see the sprinkles were old. This specific staff did not greet upon entry either. This used to be my go-to spot for good cake, disappointed in DG.

I have had a boxed lunch or two at work from Dessert Gallery, and those were quite tasty. The cookies that came in the boxed lunches were also yummy.
However, after going around 10pm (they are open late) last week with another couple, I was left wanting. My husband and I both ordered different cupcakes. Both were extremely dry, lacked flavor and the icing was nothing special. They were very small for the price (compared to cupcake stores like Crave), and felt much more like a grocery store find than a gourmet bakery item.
We all left disappointed and unfulfilled in our chocolate/sweets cravings.
We ordered German Chocolate Cake, Carmelitas, Pecan Pie Bars and Sand Tarts. All were delicious. We've been looking for a dessert place open late, that also sells cake by the slice like the Konditerei in Salem, Oregon. We finally found one!
This is my favorite dessert place in town. This time I got the old fashioned diner cake. It s a yellow cake with chocolate butter cream icing (pic below). It was absolutely delicious. The slices of cake here huge. Me and my wife normally split one slice. The atmosphere inside is chill. They have outdoor seating which is nice at night. Best place to get a slice of cake in Houston.
Dessert Gallery is a chic bakery serving up all kinds of speciality cakes, pies, and desserts. There is a mixture of classic flavors and unique combinations. The macaroons were particular good.
I wanted a birthday cake, but I have a soy allergy. This shouldnt be an issue though at a good bakery. I spoke with the receptionist on the phone and she was nice and referred me to someone she said would know. I asked him some basic questions like does it have soy flour vegetable oil and is it just cocoa based or what kind of chocolate it has. He said that it shouldnt have soy but he seemed reticent to say what was actually in the cakes. Then he said he didnt want me having any and he refused to sell to me! He handed the phone back to the receptionist who sounded stunned. If this were a decent bakery they would know their ingredients and use real ones like butter and cocoa. I mean if they would have just said "we use soy" I would have been ok, but to refuse to tell me and then to refuse to sell to me!? That's just jerky.
Weird place. They sell dog treats with regular cookies with no any sign on it. Cakes are overpriced and not really good for that price. Stuff is rude and unhelpful. Do not recommend
The customer service is poor. The employees are to old. They need to brighten up the inside of the bakery with bright colors and flowers. Put prices on the merchandise or list it on a colorful board.

Excellent desserts. Everything was fresh and tasty. The cakes were wonderfully delightful and moist without too much icing. The cookies were tasty. So much so that we ordered more to go.
Oh my, it has got to be a crime to have so many delicious desserts in one location. Every time I come in here, it's like how do you choose. It was our anniversary and my wife and I are both fans of chocolate cake. I went with Mom's Chocolate Cake for my wife and Jennifer's Birthday Cake for myself. As always, I had to get myself a couple macaroons. I had a pleasant conversation with the staff member while my order was being prepared until another customer came in. The staff is always so pleasant every time that I visit. I looked at the decadent desserts in the showcase just wishing that I could take them all with me. They do a superb job with the presentation of their desserts. There was one cake that I saw that I do not how they made it, but the architecture was just mind blowing. I didn't pay attention to the name of it. The slices of cakes that my wife and I had were amazing. I would describe Jennifer's Birthday Cake as thick and rich. I would describe Mom's Chocolate Cake as moist and delicious. My macaroons were so soft and moist. I had the vanilla bean and raspberry. This is definitely a go-to dessert shop.
One star for the good taste, no stars for the service and waiting! On the cold rainy day, ordered 1/2 coconut and 1/2 red velvet cake (pre-cooked) and I had to wait for 45 min for it to be ready. The chocolate happy birthday sign was ugly written, as if this person did not even pass 1st grade, plus the decor of this sign is crowded with chocolate dots. All I asked for was to have a plain sign with happy birthday on it. They didn t even give me the receipt!
The staff were as cold and flat as the weather! No smiling, no thank you! Just unenthusiastic going through the day. Horrible place to be! I rather get Kroger cake and being treated with curtesy, respect. Let me remind you that the cake is not cheap to be treated as such.
They have a wide selection of cakes, cookies, and cupcakes. Unfortunately, the cappuccino machine was out of service when I visited. They also have some decent sandwiches.
Man working hovered over my shoulder too much. Didn't have a relaxing visit because of him. Also, coffee tastes bad!

This location does have great cake but the service needs to improve. Skipping a person s order and giving it to another customer is not appropriate. I waited 30 minutes for a slice of cake. This location needs to do better.
That Chocolate Euphoria is AMAZING. Best chocolate cake I've ever bought. Won't buy from anywhere else. And their service was awesome. I'm a lifer with these guys! Can't wait to try more. My mom and family were truly impressed!
What a total ripoff. I bought cake to go and found it is 2/3 the size of the piece I would have gotten had I eaten it there. Chocolate Bar is now where I will get cake! The pieces are the same size, and they don't try and save a dime on my back!
It had been maybe 6-7 years since I'd visited, but they still serve my favorite cakes. To commemorate my first visit of what I hope to be many to come, we split Jennifer's Birthday Cake, a very chocolaty and moist cake that is as good as I remembered it to be. We're looking forward to trying the other mainstays, as well.
The place picked up on a Sunday afternoon but the bright, open space didn't make it feel too crowded.

The only disappointment we had was that the cappuccinos were okay at best. However, the coffee cut the cake as intended, so it wasn't the end of the world.
Bathroom was okay but men's and women's are both singles, so may have to wait if occupied.

Just picked up my birthday cake & was disappointed to find the cardboard put in the box to stop the cake from moving stuck to the frosting! I tried calling multiple times to inform them of this, but no answer. Couldn't find info to email management about this matter. Dessert Gallery has always been my go to for birthday cakes. I'm not so sure I'll be ordering from them again after this.

The blueberry lemon cake is the best cake ever!!!! I really appreciate that dessert gallery stays open until midnight on Saturdays. The presentation of the desserts is really great. This place is definitely a favorite in Houston.
