Great theatre in Derby. Really easy to get to with an entrance directly from the intu car park. The seating in the theatre is standard for any theatre, but with good sightlines. I particularly like the bar/cafe options before seeing a production - it's nice having the choice of a drink, or a tea and cake before a show! The staff are also very friendly and accommodating.

Just been to see Joseph and his Technicolor dreamcoat at Derby Theatre. Booked disabled ticket and carer goes free (as long as you complete the relevant declaration form that doesn't take long at all). I picked up the tickets weeks before show, but could have collected on the day.
The theatre has a nice little cafe in the foyer, although we didn't have time to use it (downstairs).
Disabled access is via a single lift which is very small. Only big enough for electric wheelchair and carer inside. This is right next to the upstairs toilets so the route along the narrow corridor is difficult with so many people trying to get past you. The queue for the lift was very big when coming out, but fortunately I was near the front.
We were very lucky with seats and were on the back row (3 to 4 seats in). Perfect view. Row P. Seat 30-31.
Unfortunately we were right next to the sound controller at the back. I don't know if we were positioned right next to speakers, but the performance was so loud. I am quite deaf and wear hearing aids. I didn't need them today. The noise hurt my ears. The sound effects and the sound of the orchestra drowned out the singer's at times. Sometimes it was set so loud that you couldn't hear what they were singing. Several people around us had fingers in ears.
All the seats are higher than the ones in front. So everyone can see no matter where they sit in the theatre. The further back you go, the higher up you are.
There is special assistance for wheelchair users with a designated 'scooter park' bit to park up at.
The is also refreshment stands upstairs as well.
The performance was superb, couldn't fault it at all. Most enjoyable and fun for the whole family of all ages.

Had a marvellous experience. Went to see Blood Brothers, a great show. Unfortunately one of the cast was taken ill and someone took his part reading the script as he went. He was brilliant. They all got a standing ovation especially the young man who came on at a moments notice. A wonderful show

The Matinee performance of 'A Christmas Carol' was enthralling. The set and cast wouldn't look amiss on a west end stage and the adaptation is brilliant. Excellent performances by a very talented cast. My family and I loved every minute. Well done Derby Theatre for putting on such a stellar show.

This is a great intimate venue, the bar area isn't designed brilliantly and there's always a 15 minute queue for drinks. But apart from that, lovely little place with a great selection of events and performances.

Love it. Love it. ABSOLUTLY fantastic experience. The best thing apart from the chairs is when the film starts it gets nice and cool inside the cinema. Not cold but just right.
Thank you odeon

Derby Performing Arts theater is a little more performing arts than it is theatre. It's certainly not the Nottingham Theatre Royal, that's for sure. But, that said, it is a wonderful venue in its own right, featuring an innovative rotating ring in the stage which, when put to good use, certainly adds to the performance. The staff there are friendly and more than happy to accommodate. And it's a great place to take the kids!

A lovely theatre, not too big or too small. Lots of parking nearby - both free and chargeable. Only thing wrong is their weedy air conditioning doesn't make much impact on a hot night (but you can have free water at the bar or pay for an ice cream)

Often go to see plays here. Have done for years and seen some excellent shows. Problem is the new booking system that they introduced this season. They virtually dictate what seats you can buy!!!! Until the first few rows are sold they do not release any more! Not everyone wants to sit 5 rows from the front!! Also, if you go on line it looks as if most of the seats are sold! Have complained bitterly to the management about having to argue and stamp my foot to be able to buy the seats at the back that my friend and I have bought for years!!! Still go, though, as shows worth the hassle!
