NEVER park in the parking garage at this place. After an event, it will take you at least 30 minutes or potentially an hour to get out of the parking garage. This has been a problem here for years and they don t fix the problem

DCPA is the non-profit theatre group that brings Broadway musicals, plays and special events to the downtown arts complex. Denver gets several first run events because of the great work done by this group.

This should not be confused with the Denver Preforming Arts Complex, which is the physical venues.

Generally a great live theater complex that presents above average shows. Only a few minor issues which are...(1) The Buell requires that you go through intense security, which I have no problems with in today's society.....What is a bit odd though is that other theaters in the complex allow you to walk right in with no security at all. Not sure why they see the Buell as so much more dangerous then any other theater in their complex...(2) Late arriving patrons are seated in the middle of the show which interrupts the performance for those who know how to arrive on time....They should have a separate seating area for latecomers in the back of the theater and then allow them to go to their ticketed seats only at Intermission....(3) Food and drink should be allowed in the lobbies but not in the theaters themselves....slurping and crunching from some can be distracting from the show. Other then these few minor annoyances as stated the complex itself is great, staff is generally helpful and the shows that come in are usually very good.

Outside & inside ushers were knowledable and very helpful in getting us to the right location. The atmosphere in each of the complex auiditorirum are always clean and has a warm inviting feeling. Get there early to get a parking spot. Elevators to the parking structure could be a tad faster. Spaces in the parking structure are skosh close for a full sized vehicle.

I love going to the complex, but the last few times I've been to the Buell somehow the sound system it's not working correctly. Numerous people around me said the same thing, that they could not understand the speaking or words to the songs.

This is the place to go for local theater. They bring in many Broadway shows that are absolutely great. Also good for the ballet (which I don't care for) and an occasional concert. I saw Elton John here a couple of years ago and it was the best!

Notice all the positive ratings are about the actual productions. Now notice how bad every rating is that mentions the box office or DCPA's ticketing policies.

Do with that information what you will.

Have been waiting for the Book of Mormon for months, when we ordered the tickets we requested Friday, for the tickets went tonight and sadly the tickets were for the wrong night. My mom started to cry, I went to the box office and said we made a terrible mistake. The rudest lady said to us well you can buy another set I asked her if they could do anything for the $290 we paid. She said sorry last nights show is no value to us. Wow!!!! No class I will never see a show here again. The Boulder Theatre is better anyway and the people have heart.

THE place in Denver to go to the theater. Musicals and plays from all over come to this location to perform. It is the place in Denver to go see your favorite Broadway show. It also is a great venue for many famous muscians. Elton John played here a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. I've seen Phantom of the Opera, Chicago and other musical theater shows here. They also offer ballet and opera. Check it out for sure!

Take care. I am a subscriber to DCPA. #7625552. I experienced poor ticket service service online. A lot of confusion/lack of communication regarding tickets purchased end of March and not received. Only partial delivery.

Truly disappointed by how they handled our situation. We did not see half of the performance we paid 200$ to see, which we arrived on time for. The ushers made a report and though they asked for my information to have someone contact us, my information did not make it on the papers. Luckily I had gotten a card from someone who seemed to be the head usher. I truly wished I never even called to try to get my money back. I was told it was all our faults and the theater and ushers handled everything properly. Well I was there, unlike the person whom I was on the phone with, and I have done theater for years and the whole time I was thinking about how badly it was handled. The bar tender also belittled us, which I was told would be a different complaint handled by another company. There is no stream line approach to have a complaint resolved and at the end of the day they will make it your fault no matter how many times you tried to reach out to an usher. Completely disheartened by this entire theater experience. Maybe I didn t explained the entire situation as clear as I thought, yes maybe I could have been more clear. But I was still blamed the staffs short comings and my awful experience. They told me sincere apologies . I don t believe that because they could not return anything dollar amount or even give a tiny discount for a future show, which I would have paid for still. I was very excited to see the show and introduce theater to by boyfriend but instead I am saddened by this entire experience.

My advice is to not even contact feedback unless you were denied a seat entirely by staff or wrongful ejected because you will not receive help in any form.

Edit: I have seen other shows here as well which went ok. However it s been made clear to me that policies need to change and a more streamline approach is needed. But I do not think they will be revisiting or revising policies as there are other reviews demonstrating a similar lack of care.

I've been visiting DCPA since I was a little girl ...

I've been visiting DCPA since I was a little girl and have always looked forward to the day I could afford season tickets. This year was the year, and it has been a wonderful decision. They bring great shows with a lot of variety every season. Beyond that, yes the wait times for the box office are longer around busy sales days (duh!) but every person I've dealt with at the box office has been incredibly friendly, helpful, and patient. This consistent service has been a wonderful surprise. Also, of course parking can be time consuming but you just have to plan for that, Uber, or take public transit (plus, it's really not that bad... no more than 20ish minutes; you'll spend more time getting down Blake on a Rockies game day).
The few negative reviews crack me up - "I didn't get tickets to this show that literally everyone wanted tickets to"...um yeah, nothing is guaranteed it's called supply and demand or "I bought tickets and couldn't attend because of a choice I made, and they didn't bend over backwards to fix my problem for me" ... what if you scored Broncos tickets and then had other plans come up, do you expect they refund you or give you tickets to another game? They'd rightfully laugh in your face, that's a you problem.

One of the best placed in Denver! The shows are Great, the venues are great, the staff is friendly and nice. Traffic can suck in the parking garage if multiply shows let out at the same time, but such is life living in Denver traffic.

I only walked through the huge "atrium" bit. It was breath-taking. The arched skylights, the birds ambiently singing, the ample walking space. I've yet to attend a show here, but the selection was amazing.

Many glamor shots were taken.

Bought tickets to Book of Mormon 4mos in advance. ...

Bought tickets to Book of Mormon 4mos in advance. Within those 4mos a family wedding was scheduled a day before the show in S.Carolina and I was required to attend. I was informed by DCPA that I could not reschedule without upgrading as all equivalently priced tickets were sold out. I scheduled a red eye flight the night of the wedding so I could make it in time. I left an hour after the evening reception (1am, no sleep that night) just so I could be back in DIA 5 hours before the show (didn't want to take any chances). Unfortunately American Airlines decides to stop functioning that day and I was put through 5 hours of delays. When my plane finally touched down in Denver I hurriedly called DCPA to inform them I couldn't make it. To avoid waiting for 30m for an operator and possibly missing the 2pm start time I left a message as I was exiting my plane.

A day later and no calls back I called DCPA and was informed I could exchange my tickets for an upgraded ticket and pay the difference as all equally priced seats had sold out for the rest of the season. I ended the call to ask my wife if the date and price agreed with her. She agreed and I called back to pay the difference. Suddenly, DCPA decided I was SOL and that I would have to buy new tickets, no matter my situation or what I had previously been told, nothing we can do for you.

I used to be involved in the theatre scene, but never delved into Denver's for a lot of reasons, mostly because the theater here prices out anyone who isn't *rich* and *white*. I'll just add another reason to the list. Thanks, DCPA, I'll never try this again. Enjoy my hard earned money.

We bought two tickets to DCPA to see a show on our wedding anniversary. When we got there we were denied entrance. Our tickets had been voided after we received them and our seats sold to somebody else. We were told this was because we had purchased the tickets through StubHub. Our evening was ruined.

I've bought tickets to literally dozens of venues from StubHub and never had anything like this happen before.

Message to DCPA: WAKE UP!!! Do not void my ticket after I have received it.
