This was my favorite place that I visited while exploring Alaska on my recent trip. It is worth the extra drive to go seek the way to the National Park instead of just going to the state park. I traveled from Anchorage.

Beautiful park with the best views around . Great tours as well to see the all park . You also get to see an amazing wild life in its natural environment . We loved it get there early because it's the best time to see the animals .
Just a stunning park! The views are amazing and the roads through mile 15 are really good. We also visited the dog kennels which was a lot of fun. This is a must visit!
The visitor center provides plenty of information for a traveler into the park. The displays were great giving the visitor a feel for what to expect as they ventured into the park.
Fabulous time in both Denali National Park and state park. 8 hour Bus ride inside the park was great. Saw Moose, Caribou, and Grizzly plus lots of birds.
Amazing!!!! I can t even describe in words how gorgeous it is. We got to see moose, squirrels, and other wild animals. Loved it! Shuttle to river was nice too.
A beautiful place. We were there in July 2013 - saw the sights, took lots of pictures, and bought a T-shirt. A true American vacation. If you ever have the change to go, GO!!! Although I'm not sure it would be a good place to be in say, January.
The Road Lottery was my opportunity to see the beauty and wildness of the Denali National Park and Preserve. The variety of animals I've seen here and the close proximity to them has amazed me. If you get a chance you must see this place.
Breathtakingly beautiful. We took the 11 hour Park bus to Wonder lake. Our driver was very informative and we saw lots of wild life. The only thing we would do different is instead of going all the way to Wonder lake we would instead turn around at the Eielison visitor center. The extras hour plus to the lake was not worth it - too many mosquitoes and not much to see.
I mean really? Denali National Park does not need a review. Just get the gear and go. It is important to remember you have to get a permit and watch the back country video for backcountry camping and be prepared for a several mile bus ride in and out of the park.
We had a tour with a park ranger, so we got to go further into park and preserve than private cars are allowed to go. We still only went 25 miles in: park is 5.2 Million acres. Totally natural, no efforts made to socialize wild life, they live - and die - with no interference from humans. We saw eagles, both bald and golden, moose, caribou and artic ground squirrels. And lots and lots of magnificent scenery!
What to Say. Breathtaking. A true blessing to experience - and witness the wonderful and dedicated work the Rangers do to keep this unique nature preserve the way it is.
Magnificent Park Did the Natural History tour and saw moose, carabou, porcupine, snow hare and a grizzly bear. Our driver/guide Chris was great and delivered a knowledgeable commentary.
What more could be said about such a perfect place. The wildlife, the weather changes, the midnight hikes. Wow! My kids always loved camping and hiking, but Denali opened their eyes (and my eyes truthfully) to how truly beautiful, dangerous, and mesmerizing a place can be. We will go back again and again.
We stayed at the Back Country Lodge in Kantishna while touring Alaska. It is Fabulous ! Recommend the park, the views, the accommodations and the staff !! Wonderful !!
Park is beautiful with lots of amazing views, hikes are all pretty easy, more like nature walks unless you do the overlook trail or back country hikes which need permits
Great park. Glad I made it. The tours seem to go from bathroom to bathroom but the scenery in between was beautiful -we saw Moose, wolverine, deer, rabbits & more. . The clouds cleared and witnessed the mountain.
Actually got to see Mt Denali. Shuttle bus was great. Avoid the tourist Gulch across from the park. Beautiful sites in the park, outstanding staff, very helpful!
The park is restricted. I would say the back country campers have the best experience of the complete park. Plan ahead to explore past Savage Creek. This is mostly a game preserve. For tourists, it's an occasional encounter with nature. For someone who expects a luxury bus and window view, these are.school buses you experience the park with. Of it's raining just day no to.the ride. However we did see moose and elk from a long way away. Mosquitos no aren't as bad during rain
August is not the time to visit. Way to rainy. July might be better. We saw the mountain Denali, on our second day, the south view point was the best and the glaciers were in view. . Day 1,3,4, and 5 we're cloudy. We were one of the 30% that see all of Denali. Roll the dice, stay at least 3 - 5 days to maybe see Denali mountain The locals describe the mountain as a thing........."If Denali comes out". No one has say over a mountain of a 20,320' magnitude. It does what it wants. The clouds were a veil you are unable to lift. The mountain is growing 3/4" per year. "A fingernail in time". Definitely worth the visit.
If anyone can bungle up something already really amazing, it is the federal government. Amazing place with a bunch of freeloader park ranger and cock roach employees there to be jack wagons and live up to their now approaching TSA agent status.
The family accompanied me this time and loved it. The scenery is unmatched in beauty. And having a moose five feet from the vehicle was the icing on the cake.
We lucked out with the weather and the scenery the day we toured the Preserve. We saw 26 grizzly bears, some with their young, moose, caribou, ptarmigan, and a tundra swan. The guided tour is well worth it, as you get to go places in the park that is off limits to the public.
So many things to do here! We took a bus tour thru the park and saw moose, hares, birds, and caribou. Just outside the park we went white water rafting and ziplining. Great views and all customer service workers were on point
Phenomenal National Park! There is really something for everyone here. The bus tours are great, even the shuttles stop for wildlife. Endless potential to explore trail-less landscapes. Biking on the Park Road is awesome and lots of on-trail exploring near the road and Visitor's Centers.
Absolutely incredible place! The sight of Denali at mile 62 into the national park is one of the most jaw dropping views I've ever seen in my life. The abundance of wildlife is also mind blowing. Very strongly recommend taking the transit bus all the way to wonder lake.
Awesome place. Drive thru spectacular mountain passes. Beautiful 360 views. If you love mountains this will take your breath away. Can't say enough good about it. Must be seen.
We love this park for its beauty and majesty. Our TWT driver, Don, was friendly, helpful and professional. He is a living book of knowledge about Denali NP and shares it wonderfully.
The park is unbelievably beautiful! Unfortunately, the days we visited were very cloudy so we did not see Mount Denali. The Tundra Wilderness Tour was great. It is 8 hours on a bus. You get to see a lot of wild animals including bears, Caribou and Dall sheep. The bus is equipped with a telescopic camera and monitors for a close up view of the animals. The snack pack provided leaves a lot to be desired. Take a sandwich and drink with you. The bottled water provided did not taste good to me. I suggest you make your reservations online to ensure you get your desired time and not have to wait in line.
National parks are always amazing and this one is no exception. You pay a basic entry fee and then more depending on how far you want to go into the park. It's a little confusing how you're supposed to get around the park with their bus system, but we got the hang of it after a few days.
Much more fitted for backcountry hiking than groomed trails, but that's the nature of a remote park and the trails they did have were good. The sled dog demonstration is cute and fun.
Was lucky enough to see the full view of the mountain 2 days in a row. I booked a post celebrity cruise land tour to see the park in 4.5 hours, which is not enough time. If you are staying in the area or in your own, more time is needed to be at your leisure. Tour was on a school bus style vehicle. You go out on a road that is lottery picked only so, there was not really any public cars on the road. Was nice and quiet, especially early in the season (mid may) Luckily we were able to see tons of moose, caribou, snowshoe hares, a grizzly bear, some other native birds, and a porcupine all within that short amount of time. Have a camera or binoculars as some of the wildlife is tougher to see at a distance, though some were super close to the bus. A beautiful park with stunning views. A must see if you are visiting Alaska!
Incredible experience! The park is vast and gorgeous with lots of wildlife... and we only saw a sliver of a sliver of everything the park has to offer. The tour through Denali was both scenic and memorable. Highly recommended.
AMAZING! ASTONISHNG! We only wish we could have traveled the full 90 miles into the park (end of season limits) and that Denali mountain was closer to the park entrance (130 miles away).
A must add to your bucket list. Prepare to spend at a minimal of three days at Denali. The distances are too great and there is too much to do. Spend time researching all your options. Alaska is gorgeous. An arctic rainforest.
