Went for date night, two of us ordered the steaks with couple of drinks. Service was very slow and I had a feeling that waitress was just ignoring us and paid more attention to larger group of people, probably trying to score heavier tips. Asked for bread 4 times, finally got it after sitting for 1,5 hrs. Steak was terrible, gagged with each bite. I just left it all there and only ate asparagus. Two pieces of asparagus for $38. Horrible experience for $300 bill. Please stop serving steak and change your staff.

We watched a murder mystery play while eating dinner. It was alright... I'd give the play a 3, seems like some of the actors would rather be anywhere else, but the food, staff, and help on the actual boat were awesome! It was my birthday and they made me feel special. I like those little extras that make me feel like someone paid attention for a minute...

I went to the Suspects Theater Murder Mystery dinner on the Delta King, and I was somewhat disappointed. I was expecting a more serious and dramatic experience, but instead it was very comedic and not serious at all. Many of the characters had ridiculous names, and there was an MC. Why? Why does a Murder Mystery need an MC? Honestly, this wouldn't have been horrible by itself, except it just wasn't very funny. A few laughs, and the actors were pretty good, but that's about it. Also, the food was delicious. But the Murder Mystery wasn't what I wanted.

Horrible experience delta, booked five company dinners with our 2 mystery dinner. 150 plus people.... should have been booked out. Waste of time and on top of that still waiting for refund after three months.
Rude box office sales manager lady assured us we would get our money back still waiting. Awful service

Why would you let people book a mystery dinner for two with a group of over 150 people? ???

Can we get our money back please?

A worthwhile experience, but rooms are very small, air conditioning is an old central unit and the took a while to cool off. The boat also leans toward the dock making nighttime walking a bit more difficult.

I'm only posting this because I attempted to address the issues with management, and they didn't even take the time to respond, .....

We (friends and I) typically visit the Delta King once a year, for an annual boat trip up the river. This time it was for a quick one day trip with just my husband. We checked in yesterday, on our anniversary, after a hectic day. The front desk staff was kind, and inquired how we were. I informed her it was a less then fabulous day, as well as our anniversary. She stated she was "sorry to hear that," and asked us if "we would like to upgrade our room for an additional $50?" Thanks, but no thanks. Shortly there after, we walked into our room, there were roses on the desk, we commented how lovely and thoughtful the gesture was.

The boat was under renovations, not a big deal. Service at the restaurant/lounge was marginal at best, not a big deal. This is where things take a turn for the worse. When we went to bed and peeled back the comforter, something got stuck on my hand. I looked down to see some sort of sticker/tag (not mine) wrapped in someones hair (not mine), this was gross. I saved it, to show the staff when we checked out in the morning, as it was to late in the evening to address it at this point. Bad to worse - here we go - When we were packing up in the morning, I did a final check to make sure we had not missed anything, apparently more then your housekeeping services does. I looked under the bed, bad idea. In addition to finding an exceptional amount of dust and dirt, I found a dirty napkin (not mine, beyond gross), a breakfast voucher that was from 8/2/17 (six days before we checked in), and a women's boot . Yep, I'm serious, somewhere Cinderella lost her shoe, and who knows how long it would have gone unnoticed. At this point we were thoroughly disgusted. Between the hair sticker in our bed, and what we found underneath it, we just wanted to go home and take a shower.

Checking out: I politely informed the kind gentlemen (he said he was a supervisor) at the front desk of the issues we encountered, showed him the hair and the pictures of under the bed, He apologized and called a passing housekeeper over to address our issues, which was a little odd to me. Shouldn't such personnel issues be addressed outside of the guest presence? He then stated because of our inconvenience he was going to go ahead and credit our valet fee, he "wished he could do more, but that's all could do." Really your going to credit me $22 after we stayed in a room that was disgusting? More of a slap in the face then anything else. I thanked him, and waited as he reviewed our final charges. He listed our room charge, lounge charge, and gift shop charge. Wait, what? "Gift Shop Charge?" I informed him I never visited any gift shop. He proceed to tell me we had "ordered a dozen roses" to our room. Are you kidding me, I kept waiting for the punch line, it never came. I politely informed him that we never ordered roses, however there were roses in our room when we arrived. After a couple of minutes looking into the notes, he realized, yes we should have not been charged for those, and removed them.

$190.70 later we left, varying from laughing because it was such a disaster, to being angry and sad because the complete lack of guest service and doubting we will ever return. It makes me sad, we so look forward to our yearly trip, and am disappointed that this trip took away an important component of possible future trips.

I'll start off by saying I made no effort to get any of the issues I ran into resolved. That being said I also feel that the issues I had should be things that should just work. The bed was old and lumpy, as were the pillows. The shower at night was warm, not hot but a couple degrees colder and it would have been too cold. I didn't even have to turn on the cold water. In the morning after letting the water run for 3+ minutes it never got warm enough to take a shower. The heater made a scraping noise all night. The room is dated but they do a good job keeping it clean.

After a rather restless night on the bed we choose to leave early and head home an hour away. I called the desk to get my car brought around but after nearly 5 minutes of letting it ring I hung up. I tried to call again and again after a minute I gave up. I went to the lobby and had to yell to get some one at 6 am. Someone was back there but my guess is they were asleep. Checked out and they got my car.

All in all it wasn't horrible, I've stayed in worse, but I'll never stay here again.

Rooms are small and shabby and floor tilts. There is a tiny corner sink in the bathroom which isn't large enough to be useful. Kept awake by people in restaurant and boats in the night. Not worth the money.

I love boutique hotels, but unfortunately the Delta King is not up to modern business travel expectations: wi-fi was spotty. My room was dusty. Staffing (though very friendly and wonderful people) was too thin. My room lacked a desk. Finally, I have to mention that the morning of my check-out my door lock broke while I was at breakfast and it took the hotel 2 hours to find a maintenance person to let me into my room. Sorry for the negativity, but DK earned it today.

I loved staying on the Delta King. I would definitely stay again. The ship was converted into a hotel. If you're over 5'10, you'll need to duck under the doorways. People were a lot smaller back in the day! Breakfast came with our stay. It was eggs, meat, country potatoes and a muffin and juice. If you don't want the hot breakfast that comes with it, you can upgrade to something else and pay just $5.

When we pulled up, there is only valet parking. Nowhere to park yourself. No sign on price. You just wait in the hot sun, to get a ticket.

It's my birthday, so hubby tried to get a hookup. They promised us we would have veranda access from our room, and a bottle of champagne waiting for us. How nice.
Neither of those things were true.

They tried to charge us 50 bucks for wine we didn't ask for. We declined. We were never told there would be a charge. We didn't even ask for wine. But whatever. Then, we get to our room, and there is No access to the varanda. We had to walk in a hallway, and then to our room.

No elevator, which we kind of expected. No offer to help with luggage. We got our own wine, and asked to borrow a bottle oppener. Denied. Make sure anything you need, you don't ask. It seems they go out of their way to do the opposite of everything.

Only 2 hangers in the closet. Hot as all get out. The a.c. on high, barely does a thing. There was a tiny fan, and we had to ask for an extra. But there's no plugs by the bed, so couldn't feel them. It was SO hot! The whole room, well, whole boat, leans to one side, making it aqward.

There is no mini fridge or microwave. There is a coffee pot, an iron, and hair dryer. The room is actually bigger than I expected. It's a boat. If you've been on a cruise, you Kinda know what to expect. Wi-Fi is crummy. I finally just disconnected and used my phone Wi-Fi. We're on the 5th floor, so maybe it doesn't reach?

Nobody seems very friendly, working here. When we checked in Sunday, there was a tall guy, and he just seemed very inconvenienced when we asked anything.

We had reservations at the restaurant here, but given we've not had the best experience, decided to cancel them, and head into town to eat. Lots of options right around the boat.

They give you a map that doesn't tell you where anything is. No ice machine, you get it from the restaurant. Breakfast is in the pilot house. They don't tell you that either.

The "city view" is the back of store fronts, a run down dirty pier? And some train tracks. The river view isn't that great either. Plus, you keep your blinds closed, cause people walk right by, and can see right in. There are no private balconies.

Lots of bugs. We killed several spiders. First night, hubby woke with several bites on his legs. Second night, I woke with bites on my arm, and foot.

The breakfast was pretty good. Eggs, a mini blueberry muffin, potatoes, and a meat (bacon, sausage, or ham) and coffee and orange juice. We added toast for 3.00.

These folks CLEARLY don't know what hospitality means. It's a run down, old boat, with NOTHING to offer, except being "Historic". What a total bummer. This has the potential to be an exciting stay, and instead, lacked in, well, basically everything!

Food was good, the view and the fact that you're on a boat was cool. The service was a little weak in the bar and the food took over 30 min to come out and the place was not packed when we ordered.

The Delta King Hotel is in an old wester style tourest town. It's very cute, with lots of shops full of food, candy, trinkets and clothing. The little town has old trains that go by and can be very loud. I attended an event on the Delta King. The room was decorated nicely and the lunch was very good. Parking is very difficult. Mostly all short term meters. We used the Valet service. While it was nice to leave the car quickly, getting the car back was an ordeal. It took 45 min! Very unorganized. $12 for the day is a good price, but the waiting was terrible and I won't do the Valet again. Overall, the Delta King Hotel was a fun place to visit.

My mom exclusively stays here when she comes to visit. Located on a old casino river boat, the place still holds much of its old charm. Get a bigger room, as they run small here.

There's something about walking out your front door onto the American river, and just enjoying it as you eat a complementary breakfast. Good for late night drinks and 4th of July firework viewing!

Adore this historic riverboat hotel. There's no better place to stay to get the feel of Old Sacramento. And everything in this part of town is literally on your doorstep or a short walk away. Just be prepared for valet parking. It's a boat after all... It doesn't have a garage.

I really loved this hotel. The bed is short if you are 6' plan on it being a little tight. The bathroom is tiny and the room is fairly small. However, the beauty and architecture are unmatch. Parking is $25 for valet but you can park on the street at 8pm for $3.50 and you are good till 10am. The old town is fun to walk around and the downtown is a ton of fun. There is tons of restaurants and R street is very likely. I recommend renting a jump bike and pedaling around. You can go and see the capital or sodo the new hip area downtown. If you are a business traveler like myself the best way is to reserve through hotels.com and you can collect free nights that way. The free breakfast was excellent and I really enjoyed the restaurant view of the river. This is truly a great and once in a lifetime experience. Definitely recommend

This is a very convenient and beautiful location. Old Town right outside the front doors and the DOCO mall within a minutes walk as well as the capital building!!!!
The room was cozy, fairly clean, the staff was all very friendly and prompt. The restaurant on board is very quaint and the food is yummy. If it wasn't for the next part I would've given the hotel 5 stars!!!!
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE VALET PARKING!!!!!!!!!
All the valets were extremely nice!!! HOWEVER because my husband had the key to HIS OWN CAR it took 40 minutes for someone to walk, maybe, fifty feet to let us out of the "valet" (public, unmonitored, unsecured, unfenced) parking lot beneath the freeway. I, on the other end, spent the 40 minutes trying to get help to my husband because the woman at the front desk proceeded to argue with me about why we had the key to our car.
Give this place a try! We loved it for our anniversary just park your car yourself and/or if you use valet ALWAYS, ALWAYS RETURN YOUR KEYS TO THE FRONT DESK or it might be another 40 minute wait to get out of the parking garage.

The restaurant was amazing. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great. The waiter was very friendly. They gave us a window table with a great view over the water, and we didn't even have to ask. I got the fish special, which was swordfish with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes and prawns on top, with a white sauce. Every part of the meal was delicious, and the portions were surprisingly generous.

Delta king was the best hotel stay of my life!! The pricing is totally great. Honestly it is only a few more bucks than Airbnb after all their extra fee nonsense. Easiest way to park is their vallet. $25 which is about the same as other places which would make you walk. Great view at night with lots of lights on the river. Breakfast was AWESOME. they sit you in like a real resturaunt with a waiter and it is all paid for. I'm talking bacon, eggs, orange juice... the works. Rooms were a little small but still cozy not too cramped. Everything is antique looking. Boat is stable ( I get sea sick) and everything was just great.

Nice oddity hotel with a good restaurant/bar. Great location if you've got kids, since it's novel and fun to sleep on a boat, and Old Town Sacramento is right outside the door (aka across the gangplank), with lots of touristy things to see, and the great California State Railroad Museum.

Regular staterooms are small but nice; next time maybe we'll look at the larger ones. Eating out on the deck in good weather is very nice.
