Decorah Bicycles Review

After renting a few different fat bikes from Decorah Bicycles, I knew that I wanted one but I just wasn't sure which one. I talked to Travis & Josie multiple times about wanting a fat bike and telling them what I wanted in a fat bike.

When Decorah Bicycles became a Salsa dealer, I knew which bike was the right one for me and I think Travis & Josie did too! The first Salsa that they got in just happened to be a fat bike in my size!

I'm loving my new fat bike!

My husband and I rented e-bikes to use during our stay in Decorah to ride the Trout Run Trail. Travis was easy to communicate with via email and quickly responded to our questions. When we picked up our bikes, the staff was very kind and helpful.

Took the family for a 3 hour 10 mile bike ride. Great bikes and great bikes for kids. Excellent prices!

Travis is one of the best small business owners in the area, always caring about his customers along with the staff...super friendly and knowledgeable, true professional.

It's not often that one walks into a speciality shop and feels instantly welcomed. Travis and Josie go out of their way to may sure your experience is upstanding whether it be recommending a route, buying a new tube or making sure the bike you are considering is the right bike for you.
Nothing gets out of this shop without being expertly serviced and cleaned!
Service..here's an example. Bought a new Mukluk from Decorah Bicycles, took it to Sedona and promptly stripped a crank arm. Couldn't locate one anywhere so I called Travis. He took a crank from a new display model, shipped it overnight and bam, installed. Brought the defective back and it was a simple warranty claim.
Now that folks, is service.

Saw the bike shop while visiting the area and riding the Trout Run trail. Stopped in to look at accessories. Wife's bike has new handle bars, ergonomic grips and a morror. My bike has a new bottom bearing bracket that replaced one that was installed a week ago at another shop and not assembled properly ( not tightened correctly and cross threaded), new ergonomic grips, riding gloves and a pair of socks. Travis provided so much information about maintenance that impressed me. This man knows his stuff and I would highly recommend this shop for his service and expertise.

My two sons and I recently rented e-Bikes from Travis. He had a great selection of rentals equipped with the latest (pedal assist) technology. The e-bikes were very easy to use and we really had a blast on the bike trails around Decorah.

Shopped here many times in the past and stopped by today to grab a helmet. Always excellent service and they only carry the best products at a great price.

Great staff, prices, and service...they rent out awesome bikes too...really enjoyed.

I reached out to Decorah Bicycles a couple months ago looking for a Specialized Rockhopper 29. I am new to mountain biking and after communicating via email regarding what type of trails I would be on Travis recommended the Rockhopper Elite 29. I've had it for a month (now Dec. 23) and I've been riding it all over West Salem, WI on a regular basis and make it a point to find some hills to ride up and over. Love the bike and the friendly service and advice. I've also rented bikes from the shop and rode the trout run trail which is a lot of fun.

Great service. They took care of my needs and didn't charge a thing. My job was so small and they were just happy to help. Great store.

Travis and Josie were exceptional...so helpful. Travis made sure our entire family was outfitted with XC skis. Great place, great price, but most importantly great people. Thanks for making our vacation truly a vacation!

Great customer service!! Competitive prices! Travis is above and beyond knowledgeable about ALL things biking. He is passionate about bikes and getting people on them. I always feel like I'm getting a great deal and love doing business locally with such a great shop. My go-to for questions, accessories, new wheels, and tune-ups! Get on Decorah's singletrack if you can! So many great off-road rental options from this shop!

Unfortunately, I have not had the pleasure of going to Decorah Bicycles. I was planning a trip and called to ask about renting a mountain bike. The gentleman that took my call was polite, professional, and wonderfully helpful! He said that they would look forward to my visit and help me with everything I needed to safely ride a few trails while in the area. My plans changed and I had no time to enjoy the trails by bicycle. I will try to stop by if I'm ever in the area again. Thank you so much!

I always bring my bike back to Decorah Bicycles (even after moving to Dubuque!) because their service is excellent and they take the time to explain fixes you can do your self to the bike. I purchased my bike, road tires, a helmet, and now a new seat at Decorah Bicycles over the last decade and I've always been very pleased with the process. Just today they were backlogged and still took time to look at my brakes and help install my new seat while I waited. Great service and excellent, knowledgable and helpful workers!

Travis is outstanding..saved my butt on Ragbrai with emergency repair to Shimano hydraulic front brake. I would have had to drop out or risk crashing on downhills for remainder of my tour without his help.

He is a true fat tire expert...loves riding and helping people setup their bikes for great fun.

Best bike shop ever! An excellent place to go to shop for a bike or bike accessories. I bought a bike from them and they were great about recommending different bikes, explaining features, and letting me test ride. I am extremely happy with the bike and it fits my riding needs perfectly; their advice was spot on! They also have a great selection of bike-related gear. From a bike rack to padded gloves, they are knowledgeable and helpful, and only have the best items in inventory. Customer service is excellent for everyone no matter your riding goals! They also offer repairs and tuneups at a very reasonable cost.

I am in the bike industry and have many places that I can "get a deal" on a bike. Travis and Josie are customer's of mine so I wanted to become a customer of theirs. Great choice. The few times I have been in their shop I have noticed how they treat all the customers who walk in with respect, no matter if the are looking at their first "good" bike or this is their n+1 bike. Truly nice people who will make sure that you leave the shop happy and satisfied.

We rented a couple great bikes at a fair price and had nice interactions with one of the owners and another worker. They helped us quickly, gave us some good advice on where to ride, and seemed genuinely interested in how it went. As a side note, this has an extremely convenient location (right next to the bike trails, downtown, and the whippy dip)!
