the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! it was in walking distance from the beach!
They said the room was sanitized, not , the floor hasn t seen a mop in months. The room could do some seriously updating, for what they charged this should be at least clean. The staff where very nice and helpful.
Not a bad budget hotel at all... Our room was clean and had a refrigerator and microwave (which we were not expecting)... It's also smoking friendly (which might be a downside for non-smokers)... Minutes walking distance away from the beach too...
Over priced heat didn't work only served raisin bran and muffins for breakfast I paid 252 for one night it was basic cable slow WiFi and my room didn't have no hot water
Terrible. Didn't offer what they said. Breakfast was limited, Wifi didn't even work, rooms weren't clean. This room was worth $20. The only thing good was that it was shelter, and the location was good. Wouldn't recommend.
Very friendly staff clean rooms would definitely stay again
Staff was very polite and helpful!! Room was very clean. Overall the experience was great especially coming down unexpectedly and with 2 small children!!!
Wow extremely rude staff. Why bother giving them your money! Go across the street to Dunes Inn!
Good value for the price. Average rooms and breakfast. Parking is on site but spaces are tight.
Convient next to restsurants, stores ,shops. Mattress soft , room clean.
Service was very friendly, floors are a little Sandy....but hey your at the beach!!! Short walk to the water. Kids had a blast!!!
We had a very unfortunate stay. My husband was eaten up by bedbugs. When we informed the establishment, they denied the possibility. We had to ask for another room, spent the one full day we had washing and disinfecting all of our luggage and clothing, and no compensation was offered even after showing visible proof of bug activity. We contacted the better business bureau and the sandcastle refused to reply to them. I would not recommend this place at all.
First of all I guess because it's two days after Valentine's day is a reason to charge $120 for one nights stay in the off season. We come down about once a month to visit family and usually stay somewhere on the island. This will be our last time staying here. We haven't had hot water to take a shower since we checked in and we're sitting here now an hour away from checking out and still no hot water to shower before we leave. Ridiculous..
Great Staff but no free parking for visitors of guest.
Over all the hotel was clean and a very convenient location. But the hot water did not work very well
AWESOME visit and stay ... nice customer service ...
Close to the beach. Clean rooms and friendly front desk people. The parking in the back is very narrow, but other then that nice clean rooms and great location.
It is ok. Older motel with nice updates. Room was clean. Housekeeping is great. A few mini donuts, cereal and yogurt for breakfast. Be sure to ask for a top floor room if you don't want to be kept awake all night from the sound of banging on the floor above your head. Spoke to a lady after the first night of the banging. She proceeded to tell me no one was staying up there, my goodness, I must be seeing ghosts, because there was clearly somone staying in the room above us. Next night, called the front desk twice about the noise. Finally stopped. Room key had to be reset every afternoon because we were locked out of our room. And no, we did not have it next to a cell phone or credit card. Only a few direct TV channels. Some channels you could watch without sound. Limited to no parking. Will not be back.
Comfortable, clean, friendly, pet friendly, and reasonable.
This place is definitely a motel. The pictures on their website are very misleading. The beds are uncomfortable and cheap. It's not on the beach. It's about a block away. The bathroom was super tiny and my husband who is 6'5" had to crouch in the shower. Also the door to the bathroom wasn't cut right and would stick when you opened it. The handle for the toilet was extremely hard to push and you had to hold it down for it to flush. I do not recommend this place considering the cost is close to better places in the area.
The room was nice and the location was near the water which was nice! Due to Coronavirus, there was no room service, no breakfast, and, since the pool only had a 10 person capacity, we were not able to enjoy the pool at all because the family of 6 who lived below us that keep their door open and played music very loud all day and their extended family next door stayed in the pool all day. Definitely felt robbed of the whole experience that Tybee had to offer but I can't imagine there would have been much of a difference if we stayed anywhere else so there's that...
I will never stay at this hotel ever again. Even tho this was a last minute book and they did have a room available I took it, but they were the only hotel that was not booked and I now know why. I didn't get to my room until 12am, I was attending a wedding in town there and didn't want to drive back to the house we had due to drinking. I get to the room and first noticed how dirty the floors were I thought to myself I am only sleeping here for a few hours I can manage. I got to turn down the comforter which by the way smelled like smoke and was dirty, I pulled the sheets back to find hair in the bed which is disgusting. So tore down the other bed and it seemed to be ok. So I finally get to sleep and the 2 hours later the smoke detector starts beeping as if the battery was dying I tried to ignore it but as you know not easy so finally at 3:30 am I call to see if someone could come fix it, he comes down and puts a new battery in it and that didn't work and he said well you don't need it do it, I simply said no I just sleep I have a long flight home and I have to be outta here at 6:30am. He leaves and the alarm starting going off again so I had to call him back a second time and he just removed it from my room.
So I have to get up a hour later after all of this. I go to shower and the tub was disgusting. There was hair in the drain and on the walls. The tub was a yellowish color so I just decided to pack up my stuff and left.
This hotel is not one that I would recommend to anyone. Nor was it worth $140 a night!!!
First off, I would like to state that I've read all these reviews. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and with that being said, I will give mine. My husband and I travel to Tybee Island very often, probably a few times a year. We have always stayed at the Sand Castle Inn. For what you pay, the room is nice. You are within walking distance of the beach, the WiFi has never given us trouble (and even if it has, that seems like a petty issue), the air has always worked, and our tubs have always both held and drained properly. The refrigerators were clean as well as the sheets. The walls haven't been dirty during our stays and we've never run into pests. The staff has always been nothing but helpful. If you are looking for Ritz or Hilton, this place is not for you. If you're looking for a place to lay your head and wash while you enjoy your time at Tybee at the beach, like I'm assuming you came to do instead of enjoy your time at the room, then Sand Castle Inn can give you that!
This did not look like the pictures shown on the web page. Old and outdated
Very comfortable beds and blankets. Very close to the beach.
Only pet friendly hotel on Tybee Island. Nice clean atmosphere within walking distance of the shore. Continental breakfast. Clean floors. Sheets were questionable. Mattresses are hard as rock... teenagers are complaining about them so you know they're rough Awesome staff; very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Right across the street from a souvenir shoppe too.
The room was OK. One outlet in our room didn't work so none of our phones charged overnight which was a major problem since our alarms were set on the phones and they died overnight. We didn't have enough towels. The pool is basically on the sidewalk with zero privacy from people walking by.
It was a nice place to stay and walking to anywhere you wanted to see
The manager Melinda is amazing. When we go to Tybee Island we stay at the Sandcastle Inn because of her and her staff. Camera everywhere and super kid friendly. Our daughters would live there if they could.
Cute room, friendly staff. Issue with the sink being clogged couldn't be resolved, got tired of pestering them over it. Maintenance left the door open, also. Would try hotel Tybee next door next time.
Front desk people are frendly and helpful but the room is horrible someone patched a gole in the wall and never finished the job not hot water not the cleanest room bathroom door all busted nice room for $75 a nite but not at all worth $225 a nite
Service was great before. One employee didn't show herself friendly at first, but she didn't ruin the day. It's very affordable compared to the surrounding places, and cleanliness was not an issue. The complimentary breakfast is ok.
Being from GA Tybee is only 3 hours away. They are updating the hotel and it is very reasonably priced for a weekend get away without having to pay tourist prices, It is close to the beach and all the shops and bars!!
Nice experience. Clean room. Got a good night's rest between days at the beach with our 2 yr old.
Where do I even begin! They have showers, but no hot water. Don t even try to adjust the shower head or it will fall off. They have free wifi, that didn t work our entire day. They offer enough to say they have free breakfast inside registration, and what s included is limited to coffee, blueberry or banana mini muffins, and 2 types of cereal...that s all. Everyone shares the same milk, which is a gallon of Costco milk you pass around. You have to ask for the breakfast items to be restocked, literally, each one individually, or they won t do it. There is no seating at breakfast, which is located in the lobby, so you have to go back to your room and eat. The rooms are smaller than expected, with wall paper borders Peeling off. I got a non-smoking double bed room, yet still smelled funky. The cleanliness of the room is worrisome, especially the bathrooms. Don t even get me started on the nasty floors. The desk, refrigerator and dresser were not cleaned, yet had fingerprints, were sticky all over. I feel like they advertise a lot of great things people look for before booking, and only have them to say they have them, but they don t even work!! I also feel like nobody that stays here will be a reoccurring customer. It s only unlucky new customers fooled by photoshopped photos with lobby that shows a fish tank and nice picture art that doesn t exist. You do not get what you paid for....nope. Location gets 3 stars, 3 min walk to beach, and restaurants are right across the street. However, Management seriously needs to take closer attention to these reviews and make a change. Until they do, I do not recommend anyone stay here. Others said they wouldn t recommend to their worst enemy, but I would. I hope they stay here because it s horrible. Lol
It was light on the wallet, the room was clean, location is perfect and the empoyees were super polite. There were some small things. Had a leaky Johnny ring at the base of the toilet and some stations on the tv didnt have sound for some reason. I'm not really holding that against them. Going to book with them next time too!
Great hotel, clean room, great bed , but...... slow WiFi and dirty floors!
Clean rooms, decent price, great service. Would stay again.
Not an updated motel. A/c didnt work well. Thought we was getting queen beds but they were full size. Water pressure wasnt good and the continental breakfast was minimum
Just a small hotel, no military discount and parking in back is horrible
Very friendly staff, good location within easy walking distance to beach and several shops and restaurants.. Very clean, basic room. Lobby doesn't open til 8 a.m., though, so you may want to bring extra coffee supplies. Rooms could use new doors and locks.
Our family stayed and we had Mrs. Wanda as housekeeper. She was the bomb. Rooms clean and close to the beach. I would highly recommend. My first trip. Beautiful place.
Love this place! Have stayed here 3 times on 3 of our trips 2 Tybee. Its great very close 2 pier n downtown convenient and nice
It's a good room and its clean and ITS tight by the beach and there are lots of restaurants
I expect to be gouged at the beach and my expectations were fulfilled. At $200+ per night, I expected more. Decor out of the 80's and air conditioning that smelled of mildew and no room cleaning and lack of parking made the stay much less than it could have been.
Room was nice close to the beach and friendly staff. Breakfast could be better but the beach made up for it.
Our first room...fllor was dirty, sheets were dirty and when I told the front desk, Sarah, the clerk was rude. We got a different room. The housekeeping staff was very polite, but Sarah refused to speak to me the remainder of the trip. Won't stay again...very outdated
Nice room and nice folks. Good stay and will be back again!
Nice place it is an older hotel but would definitely stay there again. Everyone was very nice and helpful, 20 minutes from Savannah
I am only leaving a review to say that Patty that works the front desk was super sweet, gave us all the best recommendations, which made our trip a lot more fun. Thanks, Patty, you are the coolest!
Friendly staff.Decently cleaned rooms. Limited and small spaced parking. Wifi not great. Close walk to the beach. Walking distance to the shops and restaurants. Would stay at again.
The rooms look Beautiful and have a sea Baby blue theme to them.
Just visited hotel this past weekend...unable to get room but seemed nice. Would try to stay there next time....close to beach, close to entertainment.
It was great, clean . Didn't look do good on outside. But very nice on inside. And they welcome pets.
Where do I start...stayed here on 9/6/2018. Upon walking into our room my pregnant wife and I were greated with the lovely smell of cigarettes. At no point were we informed that we had booked and paid for a smoking room. We reluctantly decided we could deal with this. Cigarette burns on the curtains and in the sink. Wallpaper border was pealing off the walls in several locations. There was a foot sized hole in the wall as you go into the bathroom. When we tried to adjust the shower head it fell apart. The air-conditioning units used here are in disrepair and look about 20+ years old and don't work well. The outlets and switches in the room were yellowed and very old looking. The mini fridge is in a cabnit at the foot of the bed and is so close to the bed you can't open it all the way. Also the mini fridge froze all of our food and drinks we put in it. When we first got in the room I laid down on the bed and could smell body odor from the last person to stay here. The TV had about 20 channels and half of them had no audio or had audio and no video. The wifi was down our entire stay. The photos online are photo shopped there is no fish tank in the lobby there is no flowers or art work in the rooms. The breakfast is an absolute joke, it's a box full of microwaved pastries next to a commercial coffee machine next to a cereal despencer. Located in the "lobby" with no sitting area at all to eat. The reason we came here was because it was pet friendly but they do not have a place to walk your animal at all. Forget trying to sleep at night, there is nothing but four lanes between your room and what I'm assuming is the most popular bar in the whole southeast, and is a nightly hangout for the hells angels and a horde of rowdy frat boys and drunk middle aged burnouts. The only thing this run down poorly managed heap has going for it is it's a block from the beach. I swear if I could I would give this place negative stars. Way way over priced. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Horrible. I lived and worked on Tybee years ago and have been in most hotels. My sis and I decided to try this one. Bad idea. Our bathroom light was a lamp with no shade, sheets were filled with sand, kitchenette was dirty. I do not recommended this place unless it has a total remodel.
Been an awesome place to stay . The people who work here ,that I dealt with are top notch and just because of them ,I will be coming back to stay here . Great experience for vacation
The hotel was nice and clean. It had a fridge, a coffee maker and a microwave. It was a little pricey though at $117 ($99 rate). This seemed kinda high for February (off season).
Not impressive at all! It was okay! Nothing to talk about really. Staying on Tybee Island...beware of parking fees!!! Anywhere you park on the island costs money except for the few parking spots the hotels have.
There's dirt every where and they are bugs to much stuff not working i would recommend to save ur money from this garbage
This was an older motel but was clean and everyone was friendly
