Nice atmosphere, excellent Caramelized Brussels Sprouts and Caesar Salad with Salmon!
Had the breakfast burrito. Sausage, potato, eggs and onion. Needed more veggies. Hot cocoa was luke warm. Just okay overall
The food was very good and the service waa great. The food was so good I had to battle the flies for it.
It's a pretty nice place to eat, but you have to be prepared that it will take a while.
Best burger on our Amerikan tour. Halleluja! So nice and tasty.
A just retired couple from Sweden on our once in a lifetime drive for three weeks in USA.
The pizzas and the dish of the day were good, there was a lit fireplace .... Atmosphere
Good restaurant nice to spend time with your family or friends ...
Nice restaurant to have a good time with family or friends ...
There are a lot of nice things about this inn's location, history and architecture, but a lot could be improved. Weird stuff started with the check-in process. We arrived about half an hour before the recommended check-in time and stood around for a while as the people manning the restaurant passed off the task of helping us among each other like a hot potato. Finally we got some paperwork to fill out, which included a waiver that said you'd be charged $100 for a lost key. However, we didn't get a key -- the rooms are locked with a keypad. When I asked about this (just out of curiosity), the guy behind the desk didn't know what I was talking about and couldn't understand even when I tried to explain that I was referring to the outdated waiver. Well, I know I read waivers more closely than most people -- it's fine.
We were told the room was ready early, but when we got there (following some pretty imprecise directions -- no one was available to show us up) we found it was still being cleaned. When we came back a few hours later it seemed the cleaning process wasn't quite finished. The room smelled strongly of bleach and the carpet was wet through. There are no real windows in the room, just glass French doors, which we held open to air it out as long as modesty allowed. Didn't work, though -- the carpet stayed wet and the air stayed bleach-y all 20 hours we had the room. (And speaking of modesty, the thin curtains that are supposed to shade those glass doors don't cover the panels completely.) I always appreciate evidence of a thorough cleaning in this weird time, but the cleanliness seemed pretty uneven -- the armchair in the room was stained, for example, and there were several spiders and millipedes crawling about. (I personally am a fan of spiders and any other critters that might eat the bad ones -- bedbugs and roaches -- but your mileage may vary.)
We ended up having a good night's sleep and waking up to the waves crashing across the road (note that the rooms facing the ocean don't actually have ocean views -- there's a translucent plastic panel, buildings and trees in the way), but the inn just didn't live up to the expectations lifted by the great location. I'd still rather stay here than a chain hotel in a strip mall any day, but know what you're getting into if you choose it.
Very nice staff, love having the kids there for mother's day.
Went there last night. Ordered steak and garlic shrimp. Was brought steak and ribs. Waiter Joey, who was new, felt awful and profusely apologized saying he'd make it right. We realized we probably said the wrong thing cuz we were thinking of ribs and it came out wrong when ordering. Had never tried the ribs and omg were they good! Joey (and staff) were sweet enough to bring us some garlic shrimp anyways and talk about melt in your mouth. He had seen I wrapped a single roll in paper and when I mentioned it was for our sister who was in the hospital, he brought out a to-go container full of them (she was in heaven despite falling asleep between bites from the pain meds lol). We hardly ever get the opportunity to eat there and last night's experience (like the previous few) will have us coming back again. Five stars all the way. Great job Joey. Your winning personality will take you far!
My first experience here was unpleasent (I had a rude waiter and my food was overcooked), but subsequent trips have shown that to be an aberration. In general the atmosphere is great, and the food is tasty.
Love this place, rustic but charming. Great food (taco Tuesday) and the server was great. Room is very nice stayed in the Captain Davenport Retreat, great view of rhe ocean.
food was a rip off, no clams or seafood in the chowder! TO THE OWNER, WE ATE THERE SEVERAL YEARS AGO, BEFORE COVID! WE JUST GOT AROUND TO THE REVIEW. JUST GO UP TO THE HALF MOON BAY FISH MARKET! GREAT VALUE!! THEY SAVED OUR TRIP TO THE COAST!, WE ALMOST OVERDOSED ON THE OYSTERS!!
Courteous and professional staff.
We went to this restaurant seeing the menu online. I was impressed by their professionalism, never expected from a not so big restaurant . Food was good, free refills of sodas. Parking spots are very less, roadside parking are available.
Good quality food. Good service. Reasonable prices.
Though they were out of a lot of things, the food was good and the service was also good. I reccomend the truffle fries! Gave only 4 stars as the entree looked a bit outdated and like a bakery or butcher shop.
Good food and strong drinks. Had a great dinner with friends. Expensive, but great for a nice evening.
Great food, very nice people that were hospitable and friendly
Awesome food and friendly just what I needed. Very grateful for the great service
I got some desserts there, the chocolate chip cookie was not that great, but the gnache brownie was amazing.
Very fun place with great happy hour deals and lovely service. The tacos were great!
I had a delicious and inspired steak, and a great draft beer. I loved the locale and the service. I wish they had better menu options for next time.
Had lunch on the way up the coast. The burgers were juicy and flavorful and the lemony dressing on the salad was great. The parmesean truffle fries had goid flavor but I wish they were a little crisper.
Very clean and accessible restaurant. They offer large meals and for inexpensive prices. We enjoyed the meals a lot and the waiters were super welcoming and explanatory. Recommended.
What a little gem on the Central Coast! Great locally sourced produce and fish prepared by an excellent kitchen staff make for very hearty and delicious meals. The fish and chips were perfect and gluten free! The restaurant building dates back to 1906 and so there is a rustic and cozy feel about the place. Nice service as well. We'll be back!
Stopped by chance, passing by. At first, a large empty hall was alerted - they were the only visitors. But, when they left (lunch time), there were almost no empty seats. It can be seen that many locals eat. Seafood was the freshest and most delicious. Relatively inexpensive.
Pretty pricey for what it is, but overall a nice place to sit and have a glass of wine
Service was great! The fish and chips was delicious and so was the Roadhouse Burger. The burger was a little small for the price though.
I almost enjoyed everything I ate. Except the bread. Been here many times and I am sure I will be back again
We stopped here for lunch and it was excellent and very fresh. We ended our meal with a coffee and hot chocolate from the coffee bar and both were great! This is a wonderful place to stop if you are in the area. Service was fast and friendly, prices reasonable and the food was amazing.
Nice atmosphere, good food, excellent location. Had the California pizza and bowl of clam chowder were delicious and of shareable portions. Our server Chris gave us excellent service and was very accommodating. Highly recommend stopping by this place. P
Well worth the drive great food, charming dinning area
A nice wine selection, fine menu. But mostly average, could use a clean.
It was horrible. The service was horrible and slow even though only a few tables were occupied. The food was overpriced and tasted like plastic. The coffee was cold and the dessert tasted like cardboard. I only gave it 2 stars because the calamari was decent and the location was good. Not worth the stop though.
My wife and I were on our way to the Pigeon Point Lighthouse when we saw this place and decided to give it a try. Boy are we glad we stopped. She had the 6 oz steak and I had the 8 oz. It was the best tasting steak I have had in a long time. The garlic mashed potatoes and dinner rolls with olive oil and balsamic vinegar were also tasty and fresh. The bread was hot and seemed to come straight the oven. We both agreed to make the Roadhouse a mandatory stop the next time we visit the area.
Food had good flavor, only complaint.... had to wait 55 mins for our food and I had to ask for it.
Overpriced; very slow service. They are not lying when they say 30 minutes for a burger. Amazing location and friendly server.
Expensive food and drinks. It wasn't even good. They charge more just because they are in a prime location. I wouldn't suggest going to this place.
Food and drinks were excellent, staff was friendly and helpful
We waited 10 minutes for the menu. Another 30 minutes for the dishes. Missed the sunset we planned. Shame.
What an amazing stop along a beautiful route. This place is amazing. The food was great the service was great the place was more than you can expect for a simple lunch stop heading up the coast.
Been there many times before and loved the place. Today, my husband and I returned after a year or so, looking forward to the usual great breakfast. #1- no more French press French Roast coffee. What we got was disappointing weak pot coffee.#2 -I ordered the Roadhouse breakfast. I requested eggs scrambled well done, and bacon, crispy. I was served fried eggs, well done. When I told the waitress, she apologized, and returned a few minutes later with my plate- this time with very loose scrambled eggs, still quite wet- and bacon that was limp.
#3- my husband ordered the Roadhouse breakfast with sausage, and eggs over easy. His were well done, and the sausage had a cardboard consistency, and no discernible sausage flavor, or what was there was overwhelmed by sage. #4- we ordered sourdough toast. Neither of us thought it tasted or crunched like a sourdough. Tasted like a sliced loaf of white bread to both of us. Too bad. Not a $30 breakfast anymore. We never minded paying that or more for the quality of meal we got in the past. It was not worth it this time.
Really enjoyed the breakfast here. Good price, masterfully prepared food, cozy atmosphere.
Food was okay. They were Very busy, so service was not great.
Service was alright, but the food took a while. Also it didn t seem fresh and the fries were drunken in fat. For what we got it is too pricy. It s nice to sit outside, but that s it. Wouldn t go there again.
I booked in to the Roadhouse Inn principally because of its name. The name is its best feature, though the rest were adequate to my needs. It was quiet and though there was evident water damage to one of the walls, I didn't notice any water in the room despite two nights of rain. It did have a musky smell and only one of the two windows was operable.
The WiFi was spotty (and an 802.11g connection), but worked reasonably well at the pokey desk, and at the foot of the bed, if not the head. The food was fine and only overpriced by about 1/3. The door to the room requires two hands to open. The shower head was ~6 1/2 feet above the floor.
Each member of the staff I interacted with was cheery and efficient, even the one who, when taking back the only key I was given, cautioned me to hold on to the receipt for that key, for a couple of days, just in case.
I have no serious complaints and no particular interest in returning.
We weren't too impressed by this restaurant: we came in and sat down and we were by the fire and we were quite happy but when we saw the menu there weren't many options so we picked what we wanted but when the food came we weren't very impressed as: the chicken was burnt, the pizza was also burnt, I ordered a cheese burger but there was no cheese in it! So we waited... And waited... And waited but my burger didn't come until half an hour later although the roadhouse muffin I must say was AMAZING!
Been sitting here about 45 minutes, still waiting for my food, like the people around me. Not at all impresssed. Hopefully it will taste good, if I stick around to find out...
Great service and food. Awesome little bakery section in the front. Get the Brussels Sprouts.
We stayed there for one night so this review concerns the Inn only. The room was rather small, old, not clean, lukewarm water only and looked nothing like on the pictures of their website. We moved rooms because it smelled bad. Would definitely not go back.
This restaurant is a little overpriced, I feel like it has ocean view prices, but does not really have any ocean views since it is across the street and limited window seating. Nonetheless, the food is excellent and it is a great weekend stop for a family lunch!
Hair in the pizza and they messed up the order. Mistakes happen but the manager was not very concerned
Came up here looking for reprieve from the big heatwave over Labor Day Weekend 2017, and thought this might be a good place to have dinner. The restaurant was clearly doing what they could to alleviate the heat by keeping the doors and windows open, but it was still very very warm in the restaurant meaning we were sweating pretty hard after only a few minutes. I realize this isn't the fault of the restaurant, but when our server failed to keep our water glasses full it got annoying very fast. Also, when you know it's this hot, you would think they would be smart enough to give you more than 2 ice cubes in your glass. Our waters were turning warm pretty quickly. I think at one point he waited almost 30 minutes before our server looked at our table and noticed our water glasses were empty. Keep in mind this is after he said he would be right back with more water when he last visited our table. We noticed him walking to the far side of the restaurant several times. It seemed like he was also bar tending when people ordered drinks at his other tables. Clearly management needs to hire more staff if you have servers doing 2 or 3 jobs at once, requiring them to leave their tables for more than 15 minutes at a time. Also, because the doors are left open, it means flies are abundant within the restaurant. And when I say abundant, I mean I was constantly swatting flies away from face and food, and could constantly feel flies landing on me. Mixed with the beads of sweat running down my face from the extreme heat, this wasn't the most ideal dining experience. I decided to order fish n chips, thinking they might be pretty decent since we were right next to the ocean. Well they were marginal at best. They were very over-battered and just not very tasty. My mom ordered the seafood pasta option which was better than what I was having, but it was overly saturated in oil and extremely greasy. So in short, the food is not very good.
Also, be weary of the bathrooms. This place had some of the dirtiest restaurant bathrooms I have seen yet, which makes me nervous that the employees are also using them. They didn't even have paper towels, just hand driers. If you know anything about hygiene, then you know that paper towels are much cleaner and safer to use because you're supposed to use them on the door handle instead of your bare hands, decreasing the chance of spreading germs and bacteria into the kitchen.
The only reason I give this place 2 stars is because I liked the location and the views, it had somewhat of a cool atmosphere inside, and they had live music playing. If you ever decide to stop here, do enjoy the view, but don't expect the food to be great, don't expect good service, and don't be caught off guard by the service charge on your bill (probably why the service is bad).
My food was ok, prosciutto pizza, but the crust was burnt. Service was mixed between overly attentive and forgotten. Atmosphere was ok at first, then the sat everyone in the back of the restaurant together, which made it impossible to talk at the table.
Good food and super friendly staff. A great find in the Covid restricted era.
Probably great earlier in the day. Came in around 8:20pm. Said "wait to be seated" waited 10 mins without being acknowledged and many tables open. Ordered the special...fish tacos. 15 mins later told they were out of fish, offered the carne taco and veggie taco instead. Carne, old and dry. Sitting all day maybe. Veggie wet and mushy. They closed at 9pm so guess they were done with customers when we got there. Really disappointed. Manager was chatty and nice. comped the $4 tacos.. We paid for the drafts, which were great. Why stay open if you're just trying to get everyone out and go home???
.
Very nice place for breakfast, Davenport is a very cute little town
Great place for a bite and a brew
I went today to see my friends from Snail play in the outside patio.
Food was great and service customer oriented during my visit.
We came in for coffee and a muffins before leaving Davenport to head back home. Service was nice and the coffee and food was pretty ok.
Pastries are good. Waitresses are super friendly and very pretty.
Nothing fancy, but it doesn't need to be. Great old building and location. Friendly staff, affordable prices. Loved it.
I all way seem to get there a 11:30. We Shut down Between breakfast and lunch Really who does this...... Not in my house
Great Salmon! Good Service and Great Location just across the street from the Beach!
Delicious coffee with home-made cakes!
What else do you want?
We took cofee and few coockies and both items were so good. Very calm place to relax and enjoy a cup of cofee. It's right on highway 1 and makes it perfact place for grabing some caffeine on the go. Ambience is also very good. They also serve other snacks and liquor.
One star for lack of human decency and compassion. I was there the other day with my girlfriend and witnessed the most deplorable behavior, the assault of a homeless man by the management.
Great place. Relaxing with killer ocean view, great service and a diverse menu!
Could not get anyone to wait on us. Stood waiting in front of coffee counter over 15 minutes while they waited customers and seated people who came in after us. So we tried to leave and someone parked a huge truck in the customer parking lot. At that point I went to the back door and asked if they could move the truck. I complained that they didn't seem to want to wait on us and the person at the back door didn't seem to care because he didn't acknowledge my complaint at all. We had to wait another 10 minutes for someone to move the truck. Waited 25 minutes and no food or coffee.
My son recommended it and didn't disappoint, the food was great and the people were friendly and good atmoshere.
Food was cold, but might be COVID-19 service related.
We arrived late after a week in Yosemite. Very friendly staff, comfortable room (85$) and a great breakfast
