Gardeners, set your expectations low. We visited Saturday April 28th. Weeds all over the place and little sign of summer annual planting. Fountains were turned off. The perennial beds in bloom looked ok. Who is tending this garden? Very disappointed.

I was very upset at how they took care of the refund situation. They offered me two tickets instead of the refund, when I purchased three adult tickets. Highly unacceptable! I explained to them two weeks ago when I finally got my call after More

It s expensive to get in here but to me, it s worth it. We go every year for their Christmas display, it s super beautiful and romantic! This year we went to the Chinese Lantern Festival there which was unbelievably gorgeous. If you go during the rest of the year, keep in mind that at some times a lot of things will be in bloom and sometimes not much will be. The orchid house is also pretty cool!

Some other reviews complain about it being crowded, which can be true. When we went to the lantern festival it was raining and on a weeknight so it was not very busy. Plan ahead if you re going for an event buy tickets ahead of time to save money and go on a weeknight if possible so it will be less busy!

I went there on a Friday evening to see an exhibit that incorporated glass art into the gardens. The artwork was stunning but the gardens themselves were something to behold. Everything was outside which was a new botanical experience for me. There was a lot to explore and while there were specific pathways, you could also explore/wonder off into your own pathway. I loved all of the fountains and how the artwork glowed different colors once it began to turn dark outside. There was also a band playing and a little area that sold alcoholic beverages. I had an enjoyable evening and would love to visit again for other exhibits in the future.

A small fee to go in and explore, but worth it to help maintain such a beautiful place. Many fountains, benches, and trails, as well as a newer kids area. The greenhouse is the highlight was orchids literally coming out of the walls, and the online one of its kind open to the public for miles.

The botanical gardens were amazing! Very clean and well run facility. The butterfly tent was the highlight of the visit. They have butterflies in every stage of the life cycle. A lot of bumble bees, butterflies, and birds were seen around the gardens. Great place!

While at the garden this past Saturday all I can say is, it was one of the most unorganized event I have ever been too. We were directed to park in lot 4 which is next to the entrance and had to wait 45 minutes for the shuttle. They had these golf carts that seated 4 people but there were at least 40 people waiting and getting bigger.

It also appeared that they were more interested in selling tickets than the safety of the visitors. It was way to crowded. Visitors were rude, there were people in wheelchairs had someone pushing them and 3 to 4 people to the side, strollers all over the place, people stopping in front of you taking pictures. We did not enjoy any of it due to the mess. They should have stopped ticket sales before this happen. The sign at the entrance stated sold out so they knew they were screwing up on purpose.

Will never go back.

Very colorful and peaceful place. The staff members we encountered were very courteous. The grounds are beautiful and you could really spend a day walking through each and every little trail. Definitely a place I will frequent multiple times throughout the year.

I've red the bad reviews and I am not sure why these people put bad reviews. The staff is very nice, yes they will hand you a map and you will take your own tour, be your own tour guide, there are plenty of staff members that are willing to answer any questions you have. Read all the signs they will give you information on everything your looking at. It was beautiful one of the most wonderful gardens I have seen and I have been to a few. There is a starbucks, and a small souvenir store.

Beautiful gardens. Worth seeing. Take someone you love. Bring your camera and a shady hat. They have extra places to sit, a cute gift shop, and things to drink and snack on. Music on early Sunday afternoons add to the ambience. And the musicians are local and very talented. Glad DSBG supports them. Great for every season. They have rotating exhibits. You could spend three hours here at a slow pace. They also have a trail if you want a pretty hike. If you need a wedding venue, this is the spot!!

Hidden gem. Two different Uber drivers had no idea it existed. Butterfly exhibit was fun and the sponges provided where a nice touch to get the butterflies closer to you. Nicely kept grounds and very fragant.

My family enjoyed visiting the gardens. My young daughter loved the fountains and open spaces to run around on as well as the carriage rides that were offered while we were there. It's a good afternoon visit.

Attended on Saturday night 12/15, many lights were already off or not working at 8pm. Plenty of parking and staff was friendly.

This year seemed not nearly as good as last year and the footprint of the exhibit seemed smaller and there was no real cohesive theme. I personally think they should pick a theme, I have some ideas: winter winderland, or a winter candyland sorta, gingerbread man, winter holidays of the world, traditional christmas, Rockefeller Center/NY Christmas, or Christmas by train. I just thinking off the cuff here.

I do realize the snow and wet ground may have played a factor but still a little disappointed. It was fine, not sure if I'll go again next year, maybe.

The gardens are a beautiful day in any season. The Ice Princess and the live orchid Christmas tree welcomed us to a lovely walk through the lights. Fire pits were scattered throughout and the S'more was an added delight. Don't miss the orchid conservatory. The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable.

DSBG is one of the best kept secrets of Charlotte. Although it's been 6 years since I was there last, my trip there today was great as they have added The Lost Hollow and the Butterfly Bungalow. When you go, be sure to visit the bungalow and speak with Joey. Joey is the bungalow caretaker and knows her stuff. She can tell you about caterpillars, pupae, butterflies, and their plants of choice. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and be sure to hold a butterfly on your finger! One of life's simple pleasures!

The gardens were beautiful with numerous sculptures, water features and fountains. There are a multitude of pathways to get lost in, a tropical glasshouse and a butterfly enclosure. It is the sort of garden that you while away your time and totally relax. There is of course the usual gift shop and cafe but exploring a garden like this one needs a relaxing caffine hit.

We had been to the Botanical gardens several years ago and really loved it, especially the orchid house. So when we found out they were hosting "The Chinese Lantern" festival, we were ready to return. Daniel Stowe did not disappoint! The staff was knowledgeable and helpful (the lady found the 1 hatpin in the store for Joe's cap), the grounds were well maintained and the Chinese Lanterns were beautiful, both before and after dark. Very suitable for families and weddings ( there was 1 there each time we've gone and the pictures were gorgeous!). Lots of room for children to run around outside, with whimsical displays to make everyone smile. Look forward to returning again.

Got there an hour and fifteen minutes before closing . Plenty of time for a long stroll through but then they turned the fountains off an hour before they closed. Asked then why and they claimed it got windy and the chlorine in the water would kill they plants. It was dead calm. Wouldn't even give us a partial refund.

Really fantastic, we got a family membership and visit at least once a month. Reckoned going in the peak flowering months but also highly recommend checking out their lights around the holidays. Fantastic day out, only draw back is the food is a little expensive and very underwhelming, but this would be a great place for a picnic!

A hidden treat!

A hidden treat!
Life size blossoms of orchids and venus fly traps were in Alice's Wonderland.

When your exhibit is complete, swing on down south to The Atlanta Botanical Gardens!
A crop of blue pitcher plants by the Earth Godess would be more than awesome like Amazon.

The cashier slipped up, called him DC. There is only one DC. He is the Michelangelo of blown glass. Nice ro know the artist is a pupil of DC. DC has 2 Atlanta installations. Both were truly unforgettable creations of the master glass blower.

She did not offer his card, so I forgot his name.

Beautiful event for Christmas/New Year's. Our family loved the long walk through the lights with music and many stops for refreshments along the way. Make sure to check out the admission and food prices before going, so you are prepared to pay and just enjoy the experience.

The holiday light display was beautiful. Queen City Groove was fantastic. The Botanical Gardens website marketing of the Acapella group Queen City Groove was non-existent. Recommend calling the gardens for details of performers in the future. If marketing was improved, I would increase the rating

Very pretty and very well maintained. They were expanding when we went through so we couldn't see the whole thing, but what we did see was well laid out and very pretty. Even in the middle of winter, the green house was in full swing and absolutely gorgeous. The bromeliads and water features provided a great contrast to all the amazing orchids. Definitely recommend going, especially if you can time it so that the butterflies will be out and about. Also make sure to check out their year round programming!
