Wonderful pub atmosphere; great menu with traditional Irish and American fare. The bread pudding has a gourmet appeal which doesn't match the feel of the restaurant, but it's still delicious. The service is prompt and friendly.

Great pub, feels like an authentic Irish pub! Great food!

I was visiting my son in Washington D.C. The food was excellent from the appetizer to the main course. The price of the meal was great and the portions was great. The staff was friendly and very helpful. When I come back to Washington DC will go back for great meal.

Had a private happy hour event here with my work, it was amazing. Communication was always clear and smooth. Even when we rescheduled, the team was very flexible and understanding. The food was delicious and the drinks even more so. The space we had assigned was tucked away to talk freely but still felt part of the bar. Best of all the price is unbeatable. We'll be coming back soon!

Very cozy and atmospheric. Service is nice and attentive. It's a bit pricey but worth it. Give this place a try, the food is amazing!

Oldtown Alexandria, easily accessible via transit, bike, or walking. Near the docks with a great view upstairs. Love the Fish & Chips and Bangers & Mash. Service is always excellent like, not quite as good as Glory Days, but with some training improvements and staffing, they just might get there.

I asked for the quietest, dark pub to get a pint and enjoy company and was sent here by various locals and people that work in the area. The insides are smacked with old wood, leather, and cozy corners. Old remnants of pews and stained glass wrap their way around a long bar that spans the various rooms that make up the area. The tap list was decent but I would have loved to see more ciders--European, Irish, or otherwise. We went on a pretty quiet afternoon which suited our needs, but I think we'd enjoy it on any day.

The food is ok. I should mention that we were always there in special occasions like New Years eve; with that in mind, it s super crowded and they don t have enough staff for the crowd so we always end up just searching for them here and there

Pretty interesting interior, quite maze-like, with a variety of dining rooms, a couple bars, and even an exterior garden patio on an upper level. Good food - definitely go for the Irish egg rolls!

Great little pub, good selection of beers, decent food, friendly staff. There is a cosy bar at the front, plus larger area at the back with a TV. They even do a good pint of Guinness! I'm from Ireland, so I know a good Irish bar when I see one! :)

I've always loved coming here. Their customer service is excellent (they try to be accommodating even for last minute requests), food tasty, prices reasonable (especially for Old Town), and a lovely ambiance. The wood interior is always gleaming.
I also recommend the live music nights. Oh and the Happy Hour is wide and generous.

Just recently had a work party here with the help of their events person, Naimh, and they reserved a chunk of the top floor for us with our own speedy but thorough bartender, Caleb. Food was prompt, fresh, and warm. Loved the potatoe skins!! Quite annoyed I didn't ask for some of the food to go. Will return soon.

I like coming here for the very traditional pub atmosphere and fare. Plan on paying for parking or walking an extra distance. The pub is much larger than it appears on the outside and it also has a private bar for special occasions.

Was here for St. Patrick's Day with a large group. It was a bit crazy all day but had a blast. The staff was amazing! They navigated the huge crowd with ease, every one was pleasant and friendly. Prices were reasonable. Location was great. Thanks for a great experience. I will definitely be back!

Was In the area for the first time with a friend and both of us felt like burgers. Someone told us that they had burgers. We were seated right away and served drinks. The order for our burgers came and to both our surprise they were the best burgers we have every tasted. I always eat burgers In restaurants and never in fast food places. Out of all the restaurants that I ate burgers in, these were the best I ever tasted. The service was great, friendly and the food came out hot and in a timely manner. I definitely will go back again.

The drinks are good, and with 2 separate bars, there s always a place to sit. It s truly an authentic Irish Bar, complete with yummy foods and that Irish lilt you want to hear from your bartender. It gets busy on the weekends and evenings, but doesn t practically every place in Old Town Alexandria? One downside - the cell service is really bad. That is actually all of Old Town near the water, but they have free WiFi, so you can at least get on the internet when you re arguing a point with your bar mates!

Was on vacation in Alexandria almost a year ago and sick the whole week. Had one of the 4 days that I felt human and went to O'Connells. Good choice. A smooth Snakebite and shot of Tullamore D.E.W. helped me on the mend and the Guinness Burger was incredibly tasty. Everyone got different entrees and all of it was great. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent corned beef and cabbage and the bread pudding was some of the best I've ever had.

After three years of living in Old Town and with an impending cross country move, we'll miss O'Connell's dearly. Great pub with reasonably priced, well made food. Service is always quick, positive, and thorough.

They kicked my buddy out because someone pushed him into someone else and they thought he was too drunk. I m not exaggerating at all. That s literally what happened. Would be understandable but then when I tried to talk to the one bartender who made the decision, another one decided to try to get big with me. On top of the rude bartenders, the service was slow. Skip and go to Chadwick s instead. Much better service and 10X better food.

Great Irish bar with live band and great bangers and mash (food). Service.... after 10 it's a bar so on your own... at the table but bartenders are decent and early service is better. Bands and people watching a re the best part.

The service, menu, atmosphere, and prices made this stop the highlight of our week here after Christmas. I want to specifically call attention to their shepherds pie. I've had this in a lot of places, but never have I ever thought about robbing a place for their recipe before. <--- My wife said to use a disclaimer here. I will not rob them for the recipe.

Fish and chips are as wonderful, but the Irish shepherds pie was the best ever!

Friends and I stopped here on the way home from a Nats game. Andi was our witty waiter; he was attentive, knowledgeable, engaging but not intrusive. Shepherd's pie and a Reuben were our selections and both were tasty and hot. My BFF and I split the Reuben, which was a splendid idea as a whole would have been too much to eat. Andi did give us a head's up that a new menu would be coming out very soon. Will check it out again when I'm up from VA Beach again.

Good food, good service. Fast and awesome atmosphere. Not a ton of room so make sure you get there early. Had a surprise engagement party upstairs and it was the best service I've ever seen! Brunch is awesome too!

Irish atmosphere with good service. Massive complex but gets very crowded during the weekend. Upstairs, downstairs, and upstairs smoking area. No covers.

Great Bangers and Mash. Juicy with a crisp char cooked skin. Large portion of mash with plenty of gravy. Would definitely recommend.

I order for pickup from this place and the food was so salty I couldn't even finish it. Whoever was in the back making these dishes put the whole salt bottle in both my dishes. What a disappointment. Was really excited for this place. Has lots of good reviews but my experience was just terrible. Maybe another time when they have a good cheff, otherwise the food would had been good.

First time I went nothing was better 2nd time I went the service was one of the worse so idk what happened inbetweeen those times but its wasn't very good.

I have never had a bad meal here. Great atmosphere, try the hush puppies.

Great food but you need to change the location of your menu on mobile devices. It took me a minute to find the full menu on my iPhone. Scroll to the very bottom, then find a small tab that shows other menu options.

So, we spent an evening hitting up the various bars around town. This was stop #2. Both mine and a friend's drinks tasted like beer mixed with ammonia, or maybe the dish sanitizing liquid, or suffering, who knows. We got replacement drinks, equally awful. Got another drink, and it tasted like Fritos. Suffered through it and left. Hot garbage.

Service was awesome. Our waitress had a great sense of humor and really made our dinner enjoyable. The restaurant has more room than you think when you first walk in. Keep moving toward the back and there is a room with a working fireplace. Recommend reservations for dinner. Food is quite tasty and there is a nice selection of beers.

Amazing pup food! We love their rugby brunch. Everyone is super friendly and there's a great sense of community!

The appetizers were delicious but the main dishes left a bit to be desired. They have a really great upstairs outdoor patio.

Not the best. Dont buy fish (not good). Preety old place.
