best Irish pub around DC, Best by a huge margin. they do it all right and in an amazing building.

I had the monk fish in a bean stew that was delicious. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. Not too many diners on a Tuesday night. I'd eat here again.

Cool place to chill for drinks. Has outdoor patio upstairs along with separate bar in addition to main level bar.

It was a great place during night hours. Just minor stuff. I requested a mai thai and one bartender made it correctly the other didn't. The Wing batter was salty.

The people(customers) had a great time. Very clean too.

A fun place on three levels. Live music. Good food. Only moderately expensive.

The server was by our sIde immediately, drinks and appetizers arrived promptly. The egg rolls were delicious and our entrees were to die for. The parsley cream sauce on the corned beef and cabbage was so good i wanted to drink it! The dessert was on point and the selection of whiskeys for after dinner sipping were decent as well!

Very cool space inside! Delicious fish and chips, fast and friendly service, and reasonably priced. I'd definitely return.

Really love the atmosphere of this place. Beer was good. And the bartender seemed pretty cool, while also being extremely busy.

Food was Great, Service Poor. Our server (Patrick) kept us waiting and waiting. We were forced to ask other servers and runners for help. Food was great, atmosphere was great. Over all would not go back if I was really wanting good service. Bummer, food was really good.

Guinness stop... best bar food on King Street. A huge surprise, table next to the fireplace, Irish pub music playing... sisters reminisce about our Ireland vacation... we looked everywhere for just this perfect bench, beer & bar... pour me another... CHEERS!

Fish & Chips, Shepard's Pie matched with Smithwick enjoyable!

Came down from Baltimore to walk the town and we happened to decide on O'Connell's and it was definitely worth the drive. The atmosphere was incredible, the bar itself is something from a movie in the aspect of the decor and the table placements to the music. Not to mention how incredible the food was. Got the nachos, me and my friend demolished them. I got the chicken curry, which is usually a hit or miss but they knocked it out of the park. I wanted to finish the plate so badly but I was way too full by that time and i couldn't stop thinking about it while at work for the night shift. Definitely somewhere worth returning to.

The three of us had a great experience! We were there during happy hour and really enjoyed ourselves two of us had fish and chips and two of us had deserts and one had wine and everything was great!

We went on a Friday night. There was live music and the atmosphere was very festive. The service was great even though it was very crowded. it was a little too loud for my taste but some would say it was perfect. We will go back.

Great bar/reataurant with many cubbyholes for drinking contained within...great atmosphere. Fair warning, prepare to feel like a grandparent here if you're over the age of 40 or so.

Fantastic staff and good prices. Crowd skews towards over 35 most nights I've been there. Upstairs seems to be more young and hip then the main bar or restaurant.

I stopped in for lunch on a Friday around 12:30. It was not very busy and I seated myself. The booth in the bar is cramped, my girth notwithstanding. The waitress was prompt and friendly. I ordered the fish and chips and it came out very quickly (less than 10 minutes). The food was good though not noteworthy. They didn't offer a lunch menu and the F&C was $16, which is a little more than I would like to spend for a casual lunch. I would come here again.

We really have enjoyed the food the last couple weekends. We sent our eggs back once because they were overdone and the mimosas last week were really inconsistent but I still have to say we enjoyed the atmosphere and will come back.

Certainly not the place to go for a quiet drink at 11:30 on a Friday night, but sure where in d town that would be. The meat-market peacocking was kind of fun to watch. For a while. Very noisy...

We haven't had luck here with getting food (missing items, long wait times) but that means we just stick to the bar. When coworkers go away this is one of our favorite spots because there are so many bars in the place and so much selection.

Good food, cold beer, and live music. The space is huge with both an upstairs and downstairs, yet somehow remains feeling cozy. Good place to meet with friends.

We we're told Hushpuppies are one of the best starters here.. but these are over burned and super unhealthy.. ehw

Great Irish Pub with food, sports and music. A great place with a wonderful staff.

Sat at the main bar for about 5 minutes waiting to put in a drink order. Nada, zip. Bartender clearly saw us there and then went so far as to look right through us and took drink orders from regulars(?) standing behind us.
We went to Fish Market across the street and the service was fantastic.

The fish and chips, chicken curry and Guiness Burger were tasty! Magners on draft was a pleasant surprise. The pub atmosphere, minus a beer garden, reminded me of our English pub experiences. Service was good as well.

The waitress is the wrost, never in my life I had a terrible attention as today! Please don't do that!

Absolutely amazing! I had the corned beef and cabbage, and it was so fabulous!! The atmosphere is nice, and the service was wonderful. Will absolutely make a trip back just to come here.

Contrary to what I've heard, everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. The salmon on the salad was cooked perfectly. Friendly and attentive staff. It is worth going back to.

One of the best Irish pubs in Alexandria. Outstanding venue with great historic feel. The food is very good. The Bangers and Mash were some of the best that I have ever had.

Nice Irish bar with good service and friendly staff. However, the food portions are too big and I mean too big. It's a waste and I think they need to control it better.

There were very little patrons and still had to beg for service. Food was okay, my fish of my fish and chips was doughy. Appreciate the server took it off our bill.

A relaxed place for comfort food lunches. Either share several starters, the Irish Egg Rolls are delicious or have a Rueben Sandwich. I substituted the onion rings for fries. The sweet potato fries are also very nice.

They have great food and beer. They serve was great. I came with a large group and we had the whole second floor. I wish I remembered his name because he did a great job keeping up with all of us. He was super nice and helped with recommendations. I hot the seafood pasta and Irish egg rolls. They were both fantastic, I would recommend them both.

Fantastic place to enjoy classic Irish food located in the heart of downtown Alexandria. I love their Ruben and Fish & Chips! The live music makes for a fun evening.

Tad underwhelming. It's that awkward space between a bar to drink in and a place to eat. Staff were great and the food was ok for what it was. Just an overall awkward facility that needs to find it's place.

It s always nice to enjoy Guinness at a Irish pub. My one and only visit it was very active because of the game on the tv so it was pretty noisy. Had a nice family dinner, the server made sure we were taken care of, wait time on food was average, although the oysters I had a few were just shells but all in all the rest of the food was good and service was great.

Overpriced, food bad, too loud and service was spotty at best.
