Probably my favorite of all the bar establishments in Old Town. Comfortable for all walks of life, and the service and selection of brews can't be beat. The little outdoor patio upstairs is great, though as you can imagine it fills up quick on a nice day. Live music is always on point.

One of my favorite Irish restaurants. The staff is lovely and the food is delicious. I ve been many times, but the most recent time I went I ordered the scotch eggs and my husband got the rueben, both were fantastic. Every item that I ve ever ordered here has been great!
I am a sucker for a good black and tan, and this is one of my favorite places to go for such a tasty bevvie. I also love Shepherds Pie and this place does a pretty good job. The motif inside is rich wood which is beautiful and inviting. I love the general feel of this place. The also do Pub Trivia if you're into that kind of thing.
The place was pack but very lively and fun was in the air. I had got seats near where the band was playing. The band was awesome with a mix of traditional Irish music and some country music. The food was awesome. The shepards pie was pretty good, nice and hot and pretty tasty. The staff were nice, attentive and cool overall. Totally would go back for the food and the music.
I've eaten at a lot of great places in the U. K., but this was still BY FAR the best fish and chips I've ever had. Nice staff, good drinks. Did I mention the fish and chips?!?!
Great salads and nice atmosphere. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I frequent this place often for lunch while at work. The Scotch eggs are delish.
Its always very busy but it's good. Food is ok and the service is excellent. They call themselves a sports bar but they don't have a big screen. The screens they have are too small. Positive criticism
Paul was our server on Halloween night and when my friend spilled his drink he not only neglected to offer a refill(no worries) but didn t even get us napkins. Definitely not coming back bc what kind of server doesn t grab napkins for customers who accidentally spilled?
The atmosphere here is fantastic - very lively and energetic. We went as a group of 8 with two young children and found that it was great for all ages, really yummy food/drinks and the chef kindly made menu modifications for our little ones.
My job held a holiday party here and they were great, service was fast, atmosphere was chill. I had the biscuits and gravy and was definitely pleased. Will be coming back here soon.
Great service and music. Update: went back two weeks later, expecting the level of service, was instead treated horribly. Waited nearly 30 min to order food and drinks. When the food finally arrived, it tasted terrible. Never going back. I'll stick with Fionas Irish pub. The people and food are so much better there.
Stopped in for dinner and a few drinks, while on a business trip. This is a nice authentic and cozy Irish restaurant and pub. The menu was typical of any quality Irish place and the food was excellent. I recommend the corned beef and cabbage or the lamb stew.
A truly interesting restaurant. It looks small but is in fact compartmentalized. It's like a fun maze adults can navigate with a drink or two. The food I must say is outstanding! This restuarant truly deserves 5 stars. The waiter was very patient with us and attentive. Food and drink were brought to the table quickly after orders were placed. A great place for large or small get-togethers, couples, and families. I really enjoyed my time there and I will most certainly be going back very soon.
Awesome food! This place is always hoppin'. It's got a great, fun atmosphere and great staff. There are a ton of levels in here and some neat little nooks with smaller bars if you want to find a corner. The food is fantastic and I recommend the shepherd's pie, the Guinness burger and the seafood skillet. Grab a pint of Guinness and have a good time.
The food is excellent and the location is perfect. The cocktails aren't very strong though and the service isn't the best. However, I still come back from time to time.
Great selection of drinks, live music on certain days. Very friendly staff and in a prime location to walk through the city before or after your stop here.
Visited with family on the day of the Scottish parade and the light boat parade. Everything was amazing - the food was good and plentiful (I had seafood pie), good beers, and a perfect atmosphere with Christmas decorations everywhere. I liked it specifically because you can't see from the outside how the inside looks - they are little seating areas everywhere, with steps going up and down to seating and bar areas. The waiter was very attentive as well giving us good advice, without being too pushy. Thumbs up!
Stopped by here with the lady friend to treat me to a birthday dinner (31 hurts....it hurts so much...). We were told it was about a 20 minute wait so we hopped into the bar. Quick and easy bar seating where we found 2 in a 4 chair area right in the middle of the bar. Ordered a drink, expecting 20 minutes to be 20+ minutes...in about 8 minutes I got my text msg that our table was ready.
Met the lady friend upstairs on the roof top balcony type area and were greeted by a wonderful server with a nice poppy personality. She was fun and made the night fun. Although, towards the end of the night, she became a little scarce. I digress...
I ordered the pork chop and it was AMAZEBALLS! So fat and juicy, bone in, with mashed squash and some tiny onions caramelized on top of those. Some sort of gravy under it but man that pork chop was amazingly delicious. I have 0 complaints.
Lady friend got the pork-chop-like appetizer...basically it was pork ribs with about 3-4 oz of meat on them covered in BBQ sauce. You got about 3-4 of those and some fries. The fries were meh. She also ordered some sweet potato fries...they were meh. Don't get the fries...meh.
Lovely weather, lovely environment, 4/5 wait staff, 4/5 food...maybe 3/5 food...mine was 5/5 though because i'm a pro orderer.
I have only been in Old Town just a few times before. Never realized there were so many tourists. Here to visit a friend who was visiting from another country, I decided to give this place a try.
Atmosphere was ok. Very touristy Irish pub.
Food though.... The Shepards pie was bland. Boring. Barely ok. The bread absolutely sucked. Horrible.
The BEST Irish Pub in DC! And, one of the best I've been to outside of Ireland! Ask for the bartender Sean! A true Irishman! And get the corn beef and cabbage for dinner! Plus, try the local brews!
Outstanding service and food! Absolutely love this place! Even during the night crowd, its very calm and easy going which i love. I hate going to a bar where its so loud you cant even talk to the person next to you. Here you won t have that problem, a very chill place to go
Scotch Eggs (10 stars), Buffalo Chicken Salad (meh - just don't). Also does a damn good martini, surprising for an Irish pub. This place is beautiful inside. Staff is attentive without suffocating or interrupting.
Happy hour review: not much of a happy hour per say, appetizers are $3 off so it is something. BUT drinks are already reasonably priced so no drink specials really isn't a loss.
As far as I know it is the only place in old town that serves magners as a cider instead of the overly sweet angry orchard or bold rock.
Stopped in for Friday happy hour. Drinks were very reasonably priced (I think my Guinness may have been less than $6), the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was decent as well. We didn't try any of the food but a couple of the appetizers looked pretty interesting and the menu was pretty diverse overall.
The food was good once they decided to cook my steak (and get rid of the pool of blood on my plate...I asked for medium-well and got a slab of cold flesh). The service was awful...the waitress was a derp and didn't refill water until we asked.
The acoustics in the building made the experience ear-shattering, but it still had a good vibe.
Decently priced for such good food and great service. Loved the food and quality of drinks. Come during happy hour (until 7 pm) to avoid the rush - ask for the upstairs outside seating.
Quintessential Irish Pub with the drinks and food you'd expect! Busy on the weekends, but with multiple bars on various floors, you can find a place to enjoy food and drinks with your friends.
I was sold on visiting this place after seeing "sausage wrapped hardbroiled eggs" in a review. Incredible! They make me want to become a breakfast eater!
Friendly bar staff who never forget you and the atmosphere is always so welcoming. A great place to visit on a Friday or Saturday night or even during the week. This place is always fun! A good place for late night food
Great Irish pub. Back bar a better scene than the front bar. Food-wise can only vouch for the Ruben I had; which was fantastic. Prices are pretty moderate for the area which is nice. Definitely looked like a good local hangout which is always a good sign.
