This pub has been situated next door to Hillhead subway for years and it's a popular place to have a drink and something to eat with people who live in the west end.
Great selection of drinks and decent priced pub food and bar snacks are available but it can get quite busy at weekends as you would expect.
Fair prices and good service make this place worth a visit.

This is a nice looking pub, with an appealing Sunday roast menu.

Most of the rmeal was nice, unfortunately the roast beef was overcooked, dry, and quite gristly. We arrived shortly after opening, so hopefully we were just unlucky and got the first couple of cuts off the roast.

Service was a bit slow at times, but otherwise ok.

Been coming here for years. Staff are always helpful and friendly, good selection of beer always kept well, and the menu has a wide variety of food to eat. Lots of seating and a large room with benches upstairs near the kitchen. Had some kind of bbq chicken wings, chargrilled and delicious. Will keep coming back.

We had a really good roast lunch here. The service was amazingly quick considering how busy they seemed to be. The food was really nice, the meat and vegetables were among the best I've ever had, but the potatoes, gravy, and Yorkshire puddings were quite bland.

Made us a lovely steak and cheddar pie and triple cooked chips 5 minutes before food was stopped. And a beautiful pint of Tennant's lager. Highly recommend. Even for a drink, it seems a great place to be. And I'm from Yorkshire! Lovely waitressing and friendly service!

What a depressing bar. Think it might be the colour guaranteed depression. No atmosphere. Looked at others food decided to starve being the better option. Three quarters of a pint for the price of two. Will stick to Finnieston. Byres Road is finished.

On the plate, arrived a little over 20 minutes after my order, it's the burger I expected, with bacon and cheese. Next to it, the fries are presented in a brasserie-style aluminum cup and I don't need more than 10 seconds to count them. The whole is not generous, as we like to do now on tables which are trendy and young (I eat burger and fries but I also watch my line. Do you understand the message?). The bites are linked but the pleasure remains the same: mediocre. The taste is not there. Two good points, however: the beef is well cooked and the whole is to be seasoned by me, which avoids unpleasant surprises. For a 10.95 pound burger and fries, you could do better. Friendly welcome.

Such a wonderful and friendly pub. Staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. Plus the place is for the most part accessible sadly their upstairs areas is not accessible as you require stairs to get to the next floor. However the place on the main level is lovely and charming and fully incorporates what you want in a west end pub highly recommend for a drink or food. Can not say enough nice things about this place other than maybe a few more vegan and veggie options on the menu.

I offend find myself in this pub for a drink after a long day and I alway feel very safe and welcomed there which is a major plus for me.

Highly recommended.

Come here to be ripped-off and insulted.

Come here to be ripped-off and insulted.
Visited late afternoon in May. I was drinking the weakest cask bitter that they had. The barmaid served my first pint with a large head on it but did attempt to top it up when asked. The pint still had about 1.5cm head.
For my second pint I was served short measure by barman who claimed that a 2cm-3cm head is how he's been trained to pour the beer and so was very reluctant to top it up, though he eventually did reduce the head to about 2cm.
For my third pint the barman started arguing about what was an acceptable head before he even started pouring the pint. To add insult to injury he followed me to my table before I'd taken more than a sip and said he would not serve me any more and accused me of being drunk because I had requested a top-up. I had been driving all day prior to visiting the pub and these were my first drinks all day.
---
Response to owner's response:
I am saddened by your response because either your staff have problems with their memories and have confused the only time I have visited your pub with a visit by someone else, or you are deliberately misrepresenting the facts in an attempt to discredit my true account of what took place.
I was at no time agressive. I was sitting with my 83 year old mother and my 60 year old partner when your barman came over to our table and announced that he would not serve me again himself because I had already had enough to drink.
We were all bewildered by his behaviour and my partner asked to speak to the manager. The manager, having listened to us and the barman separately, apologised to us and excused the barman's behaviour by saying he was "new". The manager informed me that there would be absolutely no problem in me continuing to be served.
We then finished our drinks and left as we had a table booked for dinner.
The most I can be truthfully be accused of is being a pedant because I (politely) corrected the barman on a point of legality regarding the head on a pint of beer.
The barman had been aggressive and argumentative when I ordered my third pint. All I did was ask for a glass of wine a soft drink and a pint when he launched into an outburst about what was an acceptable head for a pint. His statements during this outburst showed considerable ignorance of the law or the guidelines of the British Beer & Pub association regarding the head on a pint or the measure that draught beer is to be serverd in.

I haven't been here in years, its decor is much improved from my student-age days. A good range of beers and ales were on show. Staff were perfunctory, prices on a par with other bars in the area. This place lacked character, however, so I moved on after one drink.
