Beautiful campus, friendly people and small town atmosphere. Miss that place!

When I attended Chico State it was a very good university. It was fair and affordable. I could comfortably speak with other students and Professors and debate about multiple viewpoints. I was born and raised in Chico and I loved the idea of attending and graduating from Chico State. However, I enlisted in the Marine Corps reserve my Sophomore year. I had to drop my classes last minute in the middle of the semester in order to attend Marine Corps boot camp. I leave for about 3- 6 months in total to complete my training. When I return I come to find out that the administration did not drop my classes correctly and they had failed me about 18 units I had at the time. When I attempted to dispute them that they had to erase my semester and reinstate me because of the the Federal Law that protects me as a service member under USERRA act of 1994. The school and the Veteran's Affairs failed to reinstate me and refund me my money or let me take my classes again. They violated my rights as a service member activated under title 10 active duty orders. I continued to attend Chico to finish my degree but as I took more and more classes the Professors leaned to be biased to the "Left" as some say it which I do not mind but the school turned from an education system to a system were people were babied and Professors lectured Socialist propaganda. I have since dropped out and I am attending another university that is better accredited and is fair. I suggest to other Veterans to NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL! CSU, Chico claims to be veteran friendly but they are not and only want your GI bill benefits and tax cuts. They do not care about veterans or anything related to veterans.

Dreadful place. Overall experience is not worth spending 4 years in isolation. Boring and remote town filled with bars. To the school you're just a number. Chico wasn't my first choice, not even my second or third, but I decided to make the most of it even though I really should have transferred. Note: when visiting you are treated better than you will be treated for the rest of your time there.

The campus is pretty deserted during the Winter break making it a great place for a quet stroll. The numerous bridges over the river, a mix of architecture, old trees, and various nooks and crannies all add to the quiet solitude. A great place to take a friend, either two or four legged.

So amazing! not all partying at all, hiking and beautiful views and everyone makes you feel welcome

Beautiful campus with all the materials necessary to run a great educational institution but with budget cuts and weak management this school needs some help.

This is the best school if you want that authentic college experience! From the academics, getting involved in extra curricular activities, internships and job opportunities , and above all, making life long friends. Chico is an amazing school! A rich and welcoming community, warm friendly people, and an amazing location for lots of fun weekends! Chico State taught me a ton and to write a review will do little justice on how I truly feel. So just visit Chico, and you will be hooked!

Besides the school having a beautiful landscape and it being the second oldest CA institution; the academics are on par with most of the CSU System.

I'm the parent of a graduating senior in supply chain management. His experience at Chico was better than I could have imagined. Such a friendly and supportive college and community. The friendships he's made will last a lifetime. He got a paid internship this summer through the university and is learning a ton.

First year at this college was awesome. Everyone's friendly and the programs for first generation college students are amazing, I don't know how I would've managed the first year otherwise. Loved the small town feel, and the size of the campus makes it easy to get around just walking, perfect if you don't have a car or can't bike.

Scheiss store. Superficially, no qualified teaching staff, boring, very expensive, poorly organized and structured.

I had a wonderful experience at CSU Chico. The faculty are dedicated to teaching and working closely with students most of my classes were smaller seminar-style classes (with the exception of a few popular or required gen ed classes). What made a big difference to me is the significance of bringing student voices into major decisions. Student input was sought for major hiring decisions, changes to the curriculum and other vital efforts on campus. These efforts went way beyond asking the student government to speak for the students, but also creating committees of students to provide input. Also many of the most successful activities are entirely student-driven. This is a campus that cares deeply about the needs and the voice of their students. One thing to consider, the classes are engaging and incredibly valuable, but, generally, I would not describe them as academically demanding when compared to other, more prestigious institutions. If your goal is to attend the most competitive, most challenging programs, this might not be the school for you. However, if you are seeking an education at an institution that cares deeply about your well being, educators both in and outside of the classroom that are dedicated to your development and education, and opportunities for leadership on campus, Chico State will be a fantastic university. Lastly, we need to address the issue of parties. The fact of the matter is that CSU Chico is no more or less a party school than many other universities in California. I believe you could find more robust party culture at universities such as USC, UC Santa Cruz, or other schools in California That said, if you are looking for parties they will not be hard to find. I would recommend any student (and family) gearing up to apply for colleges to have a serious conversation about drinking as a college student and create clear expectations for what is and is not appropriate behavior. Keep in mind that the campus residence halls are all dry, as is the campus. There is a major push to provide students with activities and support that does not involve drinking or parties. Students who are not interested in that culture will have plenty of ways to avoid drinking and on campus and the residence halls are safe spaces for students.

Lives up to it's boisterous reputation, a true America university.

Went to Freshman and sophomore years in college here, it is a constantly improving environment and I highly recommend any STEM majors attend this institution.

My brother lives and studies there and he says that it is awesome.

I graduated from CSU, Chico in 2008 with a BA in Business Administration with an option in Entrepreneurship. They provided me with the best education one could ask for. If you are even considering coming to Chico State, I highly recommend visiting because once you've been to the town you will not want to leave.

I visted the school for the 1st time and knew that i would definitely transfer. The campus is beautiful with redwoods all over. I'm from LA and i think the change from the city would be amazing. Can't wait.

I have attended this fine school three separate times, earning a teaching credential and communication design / computers experience. Most of my professors were great, seeming happy to be at work. How could they not be, living in beautiful Chico, Ca? The campus is beautiful, with a year-round creek running through the middle of its park-like setting. The town and the school are friendly as well, with lots of art and music culture.

Cell and molecular biology major, I m becoming a doctor because of the amazing science education I am recieving here. Just want to point out, most the professors here come from big name / Ivy League schools, and I have yet to meet more caring teachers than at Chico State. If you work your butt off, you can make any one of your dreams possible here, I m currently a sophomore and been accepted Into 2 M.D Schools :)

I graduated from her several years ago with a quality education. I went back a few years ago, and it seemed the downtown area had taken a seedy turn, but I m ranking the school. The school has a very good business school, and when I went through, tuition was relatively inexpensive. The only rip-off was the price of books. I m sure it s worse now. And, the campus is really very pretty. I enjoyed my time there overall.

Wonderful School. Computer Science is a great major and Tyson Henry is by far the best professor I've ever had. His pure dedication for helping students is unmatched.

Poor Ex Phy program. They just want your money. The counselors could care less about your future. You ask what you can do with your degree and the simply state the obvious. PTA, grad school, personal trainer. They don't tell you the details about how to become a PTA. I even asked one if they know how to become a PTA and they had the slightest idea. If you want to be a PTA, get an AA. If you want to go to grad school, choose a school like Fresno who's accredited. Or even San Jose because you have much more opportunity to gain exp while still in school.

It's a nice campus and the students and vibe is nice. However the parking is HORRIBLE! We stopped by for a scheduled college tour and there wasn't any reserved parking for tours (most colleges and universities send you a parking pass). It took 40 minutes of driving around the perimeter of the campus before we could find a parking spot on the street. I realize that this sounds like a small issue but it's the little things that add up to the big things.

Really? How did the CIA let you in this school? You should forgo the red pill next time and opt for the blue one

Fantastic university providing a great learning environment and a great place to grow as a person. Chico is a great mid-sized city with everything you need, making it perfect for students!

This is one of the best colleges in California. An experience for all to live, an experience like no other. The teachers and students are all open to expanding knowledge in and outside the classroom.

Great university, many of international student study here and it is a diversity city. it is an awasome university and has different programs . most of the international students are from middle east (Saudi Arabia), China, thailand, korean, and indian too.

This is such a party palace, every weekend I was getting trashed. I mean that's what you go to college for right?

This school really bent over backwards to make sure I got everything I wanted out of my education. An on-staff internship coordinator; professors that are committed to helping pave the way to your decided career; services for scholarships, study abroad programs, and career development; plus plenty of programs from honors societies to fraternities to help you get what you want out of your time in school. At what other school could I have coauthored a published research paper with a professor in my bachelor's? The only shortfalls of this school are related to academic rigor--some of the teachers are either long past caring about their subject and should have retired or aren't particularly qualified to teach their subject. This also reflects on the students--there is a slim alumni network and many of your peers may be unmotivated, without a plan, or fail to show sufficient skill or knowledge by graduation. The school has made strides to crack down on the party atmosphere, which I resented my freshman year but was grateful for by my senior. It is also working hard to attract more and better faculty. These efforts seem to be really helping it improve it's reputation, attracting better faculty and students alike.

For a school of its size CSU Chico is a hidden gem, beautiful campus, brand new Arts and Humanities college. One of the few schools still offering glass craftsmanship. An Archaeology department with museum studies courses.

Your students are ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. So accepting ( sarcasm). Bunch of ENTITLED BRATS

Best party school ever Party animals.

This fall I decided to take a walk around campus not realizing what an astonishing view. Fall colored leaves falling everywhere. A peaceful, quiet place to sit, and read a book. Sharing a special moment with someone and talking about our day. Watching cute gray squirrels collecting their food for winter. Just taking a day off from everyday life.

The first world a Chico from these college and then at Monday and Friday Merced College think it for California ID or College ID card

Well Mary, get a life. Unless you could not pass the life class. Haha.

Not an academic institution by any stretch. With rare exception, a degree from CSUC will lead to unemployment and decrease your self worth. If you are looking for a decent education, you will be unfulfilled and very lonely because you will have nothing in common with your peers. People don't come here for an academic experience.

Come to Chico for an education & leave with a valuable degree!
