My grandmother spent two months in the Isabel Roig Sociosanitary Center in Barcelona and did not have the expected treatment. The woman complained that they hardly gave her water, that they took a long time to attend when she had an emergency, that the food was fair and "not very far" and that they spoke to her badly. I have had my mother-in-law admitted to this center, with a holy week date. I have to say that it is a danger to enter here a relative to whom you have appreciation.
It is a center that would meet minimum if you have operated and you have to do a rehabilitation, but the rest is perfect. Because if you depend on fragile health care of the staff of this center, you have many points of not leaving there alive.
I have seen how my mother-in-law arrived in better conditions than expected after a stroke with sequels, being able to walk with help, recovering the swallowing, animated, eating alone ....
In 6 days, she could be admitted with urinary tract infection, kidney failure, worrying levels of sodium and potassium and severe dehydration. The reason for this situation is because they have no way to control food intake or liquids and neither evacuation and urine, and if the evolution is negative, you end up in the hole because every day comes new staff and it seems normal for a patient I ended up in a terminal state and did not think of doing anything.
I asked twice on the third and fourth day to look at putting serum because he did not drink and ate very little, due to general worsening, and the two nurses said it was not necessary.
On the fifth day the nurse agreed to talk to the doctor and put a way to hydrate, but denied the need to make an analysis despite the noticeable worsening in a few days and despite clear symptoms of disorientation, drowsiness, nausea and arguing burned taste metalic in the little food that ingeria.
On the 6th before the refusal again, I asked the hospital for referral and luckily I did.
Now I am referring to go to another social health center

Rehabilitation is limited. The lack of personnel seems clear. An hour a day and the rest of the time people are more or less parked in their room or as they can.

Otherwise the facilities are good and modern.

It shares the rehabilitation function with that of parking people in very different circumstances. In my 45 days of stay, two people died in the bed next to my mother's. It is life and I suppose things are like that.

It is true that, like everything in this life, there are things to improve: some cold food, some dismissal of schedule, ... but as a whole, we can value it as remarkable and, probably, those errors or slips are a consequence of the lack of personnel from the center. It was also good, the attention of the social worker and the doctor who treated us until the beginning of March; who explained the steps to follow with my uncle and the reality about his illness. Although we had discrepancies with her, she treated us and advised us.

Unfortunately, we can not say the same thing about the doctor who, during this last period - from the second week of March and until March 26 -, had to attend to my uncle. The treatment provided by him, both the patient and the family, was very bad, not typical of a professional who has to treat palliative patients and their relatives. He just crossed a few words with the sick man's brother and, although I tried to contact him on several occasions (by instruction of the doctor who was previously in the center), not only did he not deign to call us, but his message through the operator was "is gathered and today can not attend." To me, for the hour, it seemed like a "I'm eating ... do not bother me anymore". Do not worry doctor, my uncle died last March 26, we will not bother him anymore.
