Crowne Plaza Resort & Golf Club Lake Placid Review

Facilities are awesome, lunch was very disappointing.

Clean rooms with beautiful view. And all of the amenities. Fridge and microwave in the room. We had dinner in the restaurant. I liked one of the burgers we order. And the wings were good too. And you have a fireplace outside. How cool is that!

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza last night. The price and location were fantastic. The room was in an older section of the hotel, but it was well kept and clean. The bed was comfortable. The pool was nice. Our son got sick and we had to cut our vacation short. The staff went above and beyond my expectations in that situation. We will go back for sure.

The hotel is pretty nice. The main area are wonderful in general but the actual room is not up to the Crowne Plaza standard. Shower had mold, the pool area was nice but a mess because they didn't manage the towels well. I was expecting more for the amount I paid. Next time I will try High Peaks Resort.

Stayed here for a hockey tournament. Very nice hotel. Suitable for a hockey team (ie: pool, buffet meals, etc), walking distance to the rinks, and to everything else in town.

The place is clean and all BUT the give me a room totally different than what i paid for, no excuse, nothing.

Our favorite place to stay on are Lake Placid getaway. Sit by a fire inside or outside over looking Mirror Lake. Staff is fantastic. View from our room.

This hotel is pretty nice and has a cottage feel to it. It has a grand front room/dining area where you can look out over Lake Placid and the surrounding mountains.

I ve been to Lake Placid several time and have stayed at different hotels in the same price range each time. Although I got a the King bed with a view, you couldn t see outside unless you were standing right in-front of the balcony doors. The room was a touch dated for the price of the room and was smaller that other hotels in the same price point.

This hotel also sits on top of a big hill that you have to climb up and down to walk around the town, or you would have to drive down and pay for parking.

There is no complimentary breakfast of that is important to you.

Over all it was a nice hotel and I would recommend going there but it s not the nicest for the money if you re going to Lake Placid.

Nice hotel. However, not all rooms have a great view. Our room have window with view to the indoors pool. In the pool were windows to mountains though.

I have been coming to Crowne Plaza for 5 years in a row for New Year s! It is by far the best place: tried other areas before but did not quite work as well.

Excellent hotel, ventage and classis touch, wooden walls and interior, smacked in the middle of town, walking distance to main street, olympic village and other attractions...

The Crowne Plaza has a great location and is a 5 minute walk to a ton of restaurants and bars. The views from the lobby bar are absolutely amazing.

Wonderful views in lodge. Room was clean with a great view as well. Room cleaners cane way too early every day and my key constantly stopped working and had to go to the front desk on multiple occasions to fix it. Prices were a little high for breakfast considering they didn't offer a continental option.

The house was in a great location with access to everything and a beautiful iverlook of Mirror Lake

We reserved a room for Valentine's Day weekend and it also was the anniversary of the ceremony torch lighting. We ended up getting a really good deal on the room. When we arrived we got a room upgrade and we got to our room it was truly a room upgrade. Full efficiency, fireplace, balcony and jacuzzi tub. Everything was stocked and very well cleaned. There is a large TV in the living area and a nice sized TV in the main bedroom. Also if you have more guest there is pull down bed in the living area. Overall I would highly recommend the stay to anyone visiting the Lake Placid area.

Great hotel. Good service, location, inside pool, and decent food options onsite. The buffet breakfast is a decent deal in the area and tasty too.

Stayed here for several nights last Feb. Sorry, just getting around to leaving a review because we are thinking about returning again this winter. Awesome location. Up on a hill and a short walk into town. Indoor pool. Nice restaurant in the area with a huge cozy fireplace, bar and pretty views from the windows. Food was delicious and service was great. Our room was clean and comfy. Building is very adorandack lodge style. Easy access to winter activities.

Very good place to stay! Price is very reasonable. Very pet friendly hotel. They have a huge pet friendly lawn in the back of building, providing dog waste bags. The location is fantastic, very close to downtown Lake Placid, a lot of restaurants around. They also have a great view in front of hotel. Too bad due to the pandemic, they closed indoor seating area and pool but, highly recommend this hotel!

The structure is beautiful, pool/hot tub was great, very friendly/helpful staff from the time we walked in the door. The only down side is you can hear alot through the walls so you can hear conversations in the hall and water in the drain pipes. Restaurant and food was great as well, not overpriced.

It was nice, however, for the price we were disappointed. It was quite expensive, and we felt that the hotel was quite dated. It is a nice hotel, but it is very clear that the Crowne Plaza is in need of lots of updates. The view is what gets the gold stars!

Visited during covid and was comforted by how clean this hotel was. Staff was friendly. Views on the lake side are amazing. We also brought a dog and she was welcomed.

I don't feel welcome here. Nice enough room but it is an interior room with a window that is open only to the pool so I have to keep the blinds closed. I would not recommend this place when there seems to be better otpions. Breakfast buffet was a good value except some manager? felt the need to single me out and ask if I needed help when there were others around and I clearly did not need help - I was getting bacon. This is part of the unwelcome feeling. Also, now I'm even more angry a couple days later. We were among a group of people who all had their rooms booked at the same time and all paid the same about. My wife and I were staying the longest and we arrived the earliest. Everyone else got rooms with great views - we got the terrible pool-view room and when we checked in we were told we'd have to pay extra. So basically, we'd have to pay extra for the exact same room others in our group were paying exactly the same as we were already paying. The staff at he front desk is not friendly. I definitely don't like it here.

Very nice hotel, in the heart of Lake Placid village (walking distance to everything), beautiful common areas (lounge, patio).

Yesterday afternoon I inquired about dinner in The Great Room (Crown restaurent & bar) at 6:30pm, I was told yes, and that wait times should not be long.

When we got there we were told they would NOT be serving dinner in The Great Room!?

When I asked employees why it was closed for dinner, the answers were inconsistent and I believe knowingly untruthful.

I've had numerous wonderful dinners in the Great Room in the past, where one was welcomed on arrival and the table service was excellent. Definitely not so last night!

We ended up having dinner in their regular Restaurent, it appeared that only one server was working the entire place. Beyond the regular menu, they had a pasta bar, which we looked at, it looked terrible - terrible presentation and what you might expect at an included free buffet at a CHEAP hotel.

The Crown Plaze Lake Placid is going downhill, that was my take away! Our experience last night definitely did NOT live up to the Crowne Plaza brand and out past experiences!!

Bottom line, there are many other lodging & dining options in Lake Placid, go somewhere else.

Message to Crowne Plaza head office:
Send a team to Lake Placid, bring value-added changes, new management, ensure staff is truthful in their responses! The Great Room and its views both inside and unto Lake Placid, Mirror Lake, and mountains are phenomenal! Make proper use of this incredible space you have (the biggest asset of your hilltop hotel), hire an experienced director to manage The Great Room and the experience (including the culinary experience) your clients & guests will enjoy in the future. Changes are required!!! Alternatively, fly the Motel 6 banner outside.

I only have been at this hotel for the New Year Party, the food that they serve in this event is amazing, great quantity and quality. I will give it 5 starts.

About the music, I wish the DJ Give new music, I have been going for the past 4 year, and the playlist is very similar each year. I think he could do it better.

About the decorations It is nice and they have improve it, the last party they had new light effects and I loved the Photobooth, I young and nice boy is helping.

One of the grand dames of Lake Placid built with children in mind. How many can you actually fit into that hot tub? Its perch on the top of the hill is unrivaled....but it is a bit of a workout down and up from the village.

Hotel general manager (Dan Withrow) and staff does not care about guests. As I was organizing my stuff in the trunk of my car in the back circle someone asked to use the luggage cart that I was all done using and had all of my things off of. The gentleman proceeded to set his things on the luggage cart and then while he left his things on the luggage cart on the sidewalk he went and pulled his car around. In the meantime the unattended luggage cart went down the sidewalk and off the steep curb falling off and hitting my shoulder injuring me and damaging my vehicle and breaking in the process. The hotel did nothing and at the time of the incident and will do nothing about my injuries or damage to my car saying that the police are telling him that it is a civil matter between me and the other hotel guest whose stuff was on the cart at the time it hurt me and damaged my car. It is going to look bad for the hotel when we go to court on live TV and tell everyone on TV how the hotel did nothing and will do nothing to make right with their customers especially a gold elite member for hotel property injuring them and damaging their vehicle. Seeing two hotel guests in court just to get money to pay for the damages for their car will not look good on the hotel at all.

Business brings me here fairly often. The Crowne Plaza always does a great job.

We were excited about our 3 day stay here but was disappointed once we arrived. Never mentioned that pool would be closed, breakfast consisted of lousy bagel , tea and old fruit . N lastly our bathroom wasn t very clean ... so overall I regret choosing the Hampton inn as our hotel ...

Very clean, easy to check in and out. Great pool area, great views and close enough to walk everywhere in town. Perfect place to visit during holiday season, very well decorated too.

Very satisfied with this place overall. I found it to be clean, comfortable, and operated by competent and polite professionals. I especially enjoyed the pool and hot tub, just the right thing after a long day of skiing. I will be back.

Great location and nice amenities like outdoor space with views, but the hotel does not offer a complimentary breakfast. Breakfast is pay a la carte, which is completely unexpected for a hotel of this name and reputation. Coffee and hot water are free. Disappointed.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Crowne Plaza Lake Placid and recommend it for many reasons.

1) Location, Location, Location: Crown Plaza Lake Placid is conveniently located on top of a hill overlooking Mirror Lake, which offers nice views of the scenic mountains. The hotel is in walking distance (2-3 minutes from the front entrance and down a walking path) to the south end of Main Street, which is a perfect distance away from the Main Street's hustle and bustle and a close walk to the shops and restaurants for the family. It is truly a versatile location in regards to Main Street and Mirror Lake.

2) Things to do: At the hotel you can go for a swim, relax in the outdoors areas overlooking the lake or in the clean and cozy rooms. If you want to go for a stroll down Main Street, there are canoe and kayak rentals on the North end of Main Street, small park with jungle gym, tennis, picnic area, public boat launch (non-motorized),and swimming on the South end of Main Street along Mirror Lake (5-10 minute walk from the from entrance). The hotel also has a small private beach with restrooms, lawn chairs, and kayaks to borrow 10-15 minutes walk around Mirror Lake.

3) Decor: When you roll up to Crowne Plaza Lake Placid, you would imagine this lodge style hotel to be sitting on a mountain in Aspen, CO. It's nicely built and decorated and one of the nicest venues in the area in my opinion. The lodge style theme is very welcoming, clean, and well kept. It has a high class and luxurious ambience and will not disappoint you.

4) Staff: Front desk and maintenance staff are all very friendly and keep the premises and guests cared for around the clock. It truly is a world class staff and will make your stay even better. You are in good hands and they will be able to provide suggestions for local things to do and upcoming events for your next visit.

Beautiful views. Pool/hot tub were great. Room was very comfortable. We had the king with lake views. Just beautiful. The free coffee, tea and water was a nice touch. Front bar room was just gorgeous!!!! We'll definitely stay again. Thank you for a wonderful Valentine's weekend.

Very nice place. Clean room. Beautiful views if you get a mountain view room. My only complaint was with the breakfast. I feel like it was overpriced for what it was. Seemed like it may be an adaptation of the times we are in but I am not sure seeing as this is the for time I've stayed there. Friendly staff good prices. Would definitely stay again

Beautiful rooms, beautiful views. Close to the main street but there is a big hill to walk down to get there.

It started off a bit rough . Our room was literally 1 foot from the elevator and across from the ice machine. We asked to be changed which they accomidated. I just thought as an IHG member we would have avoided this at check in. That being said it is a great facility in a great location with great views and an easy walk into the center of town. Our new room was clean and quiet and we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast should have been included though. Attached picture is view ftom the front towards town
