Yesterday afternoon I inquired about dinner in The Great Room (Crown restaurent & bar) at 6:30pm, I was told yes, and that wait times should not be long.

When we got there we were told they would NOT be serving dinner in The Great Room!?

When I asked employees why it was closed for dinner, the answers were inconsistent and I believe knowingly untruthful.

I've had numerous wonderful dinners in the Great Room in the past, where one was welcomed on arrival and the table service was excellent. Definitely not so last night!

We ended up having dinner in their regular Restaurent, it appeared that only one server was working the entire place. Beyond the regular menu, they had a pasta bar, which we looked at, it looked terrible - terrible presentation and what you might expect at an included free buffet at a CHEAP hotel.

The Crown Plaze Lake Placid is going downhill, that was my take away! Our experience last night definitely did NOT live up to the Crowne Plaza brand and out past experiences!!

Bottom line, there are many other lodging & dining options in Lake Placid, go somewhere else.

Message to Crowne Plaza head office:
Send a team to Lake Placid, bring value-added changes, new management, ensure staff is truthful in their responses! The Great Room and its views both inside and unto Lake Placid, Mirror Lake, and mountains are phenomenal! Make proper use of this incredible space you have (the biggest asset of your hilltop hotel), hire an experienced director to manage The Great Room and the experience (including the culinary experience) your clients & guests will enjoy in the future. Changes are required!!! Alternatively, fly the Motel 6 banner outside.
