Crowne Plaza Resort & Golf Club Lake Placid Review

Booking last minute just days before Memorial day weekend I didn't expect much from the hotel. But our room was still lovely! Very clean and relaxing. The staff was extremely kind and helpful, including the cleaning staff. The views were incredible and we have already decided to stay here again!

The room was good, the location was good, but the hotel DOES NOT ACCEPT CASH. I couldn't pay cash for a $20 breakfast. I didn't want to put the meals on my credit card, but they wouldn't let me pay cash. This is illegal. I won't be back. Plenty of other places to stay and they all accept cash.

Gorgeous views and incredible rooms. The family suite rooms 6 easily. Great bar and food.

Beautiful view of Mirror Lake. Very nice and specious lounge. The building is well maintained. Good drink selection. Nice tasting appetizers.

Visited the hotel when friends were staying here. Old decor, but wonderful views in a great town.

Customer service lacking in housekeeping and room service

Excellent location and the room was great! We had a fridge and a microwave and the bed was very comfortable. Rooms are clean and tidy. Staff were excellent and very friendly. Definitely recommend this place!

This is the worst hotel around the lake. Our room was dirty, the pool was ice cold, the hotel is in disrepair and needs lots of work. They credited me $300. Need I say more?

Good room at the same price as the Marriot but with a much better view. This hotel is pet friendly and if you have pet allergies it may not be the most suitable for you.

Beautiful hotel, with amazing views! A great location right in town on top of a hill. Great food places nearby. Their breakfast buffet was so delicious. Definitely recommend upgrading to that option if you can. Room was clean. Wish sheets were softer though.

Calm atmosphere and relax. Spacious room and very clean. My favorite is the terrace with its magnificent view of the mountains and the mirror lake. Well liked my stay. Small flat is the access to the beach, which must go by car, because located next to the marina of the club house. However quiet location.

Relaxed and clean hotel, but the wifi and cable have some issues. Also beware of the hill.

Lovely hotel, nice stay, close to town, however people aren't kidding about that hill. We always drove the short distance into town.

Fabulous place to stay, great views of mirror lake, white face mt, the ski jumps, etc.. Park your car, walk down the hill and walk around town. Just beautiful. Great food. Great rooms. Swimming pool and hot tub. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar..

I stay here quite often and it is always clean, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the restaurant, The Boathouse, is an excellent dinner spot. The amenities are good: indoor pool and workout room, and 2 great golf courses, which will challenge anyone's game. A shuttle will take you around. Reasonably priced and great views overlooking Mirror Lake. Good central location. It's also ideal for conferences and large groups. Rooms are good size and bathrooms are spacious. Free wi-fi and parking.

They dealt with about 400 adult hockey players in a hockey tournament...they were so nice! Bless 'em. The hotel still has a public pay phone ! How nostalgic is that !?

Nice hotel. It's beautiful inside and out. When you come out the front door you are greeted with a spectacular view of the mountains and water.

My favorite place when I go to ski, they have a great restaurant with great food and a great ambiance.

Great service, atmosphere and amenities. Only problem was that the room was not fully cleaned. The air conditioner was slightly dirty and was obviously partly missed by staff. Besids the AC, the room was clean. Despite that one thing I still would recommend it to anyone, they were very accommodating. No other issues besids that one.

They took us in last minute (9pm) with the dog after our backpacking trip ended unexpectedly. Wonderful rooms and breakfast

I'm going back that how great the service is. The standard are very high at this place. Something I feel I'm in the twilight zone.

Stayed in the Adirondack wing - very clean room, nice balcony, microwave/fridge and big bathroom.

Amazing views over the town of Lake Placid and Mirror Lake. Staff was very friendly and made sure everything was perfect during our stay.

Always been a great place to stay. The "Great Room" is picturesque and cozy and the hotel's amenities are too class. CJ and Billy are great bartenders and Geoff runs the restaurant incredibly well.

The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. The views, no matter what room you're in, are phenomenal. The food and bar service is out of this world. An overall 10/10 experience. We stay at this hotel everytime we go up which is twice a year. They allow dogs and that makes it even better. So many adorable four-legged friends to meet! There's an indoor pool and jacuzzi with a gorgeous view as well.

This hotel is awesome. Here for a conference and they have great accommodations

Very nice hotel!!! Huge parking. Friendly staff on front desk. The room was clean (thank you housekeeping), has a fridge, a coffee maker, a microwave, nice TV, small cute balcony, we had a lake view, amazing. There is a pool with jacuzzi, gym. One restaurant for breakfast and one amazing lunch dinner restaurant with delicious food and good atmosphere!

My family member is a fellow GM at another IHG property.

He had his staff call before I made my reservation to see if any special rate could be offered.

They informed the staff that the hotel was busy but not sold out and they would see what they could do.

I was instructed to first book the room directly through the hotel website rather than the lower fares available that were showing on HotelTonight and Expedia (which results in lower fees for the hotel).

At checkout I followed back up and spoke to the GM regarding his team looking into what rate they were offering.

Ray really could have cared less. He stayed no one ever called . I said yes they had as his staff had informed us about the hotel being fairly busy (but not sold out). This information meant nothing to Ray. He had a terrible and dismissive attitude and just blew it off and they charged me the maximum rate (I would have stayed elsewhere or at least booked through HotelTonight if I had known this when we inquired).

Ray could have just made any kind of effort whatsoever to make the situation better. It s hard to believe he s a GM.

I get it. The hotel is in a good location and there are busy times of year so Ray can act like a moron towards guest service as much as he pleases and it won t impact occupancy rates in the short-term.

And it s the only hotel I ve ever stayed at where you can t get or purchase a simple bottle of water other than going to a vending machine and being charged $2.75!

I ll be staying elsewhere in the future.

We had the most memorable experience at this Crown Plaza Resort hotel at Lake Placid. The hotel is grand and magnificent and the view of the mountains and the mirror lake from the dining room is breathtaking.
The room is spacious, and clean and the food at the restaurants were delicious and the prices were very reasonable. We will certainly be back for another vacations.

The price does not correspond to the level of the hotel, everything is rather dirty and incomprehensible. Maximum 2.5 stars.

I went here for an event. It was in the evening the one of the conference rooms. The event was hosted by the Crown Plaza staff. The food was fantastic and the wait staff was very professional. It was a fantastic evening at a beautiful venue!

Spectacular location and views atop Lake Placid village. Wonderful staff from the front desk to the housekeepers. Every trip, we meet someone new around the hotel and every employee is friendly, professional, and engaging. Comfortable rooms and amenities make this property a five-star value!

The location is spectacular, the staff is always friendly, never stuffy but always on their game. It doesn't matter the season, this place is always splendid and a treat for everyone who visits. Treat yourself!

Stayed over the Christmas holiday and couldn't have been happier. Rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. Our room was actually upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite that was wonderful. Beautiful view from the lobby/bar area that is great. Will return.

Room was nice however was right beside pool so it was a bit noisy at some points. Room was clean, breakfast buffet was great! We would stay here again for sure maybe just not in the pool room :).

With a little hickup, we got an upgrade to a lake view room.... wow. But, in fairness, the other view is pretty as well.... The staff were super friendly and helpful. The best parts of the hotel are the proximity to the village and view. IMO, this is the best place in Lake Placid to stay, if you're not a millionaire. Great facilities and did I mention that view?!!?

I enjoyed my stay at Crowne Plaza in Lake Placid. The room was somewhat small but clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and accommodating. I would stay there again (although I might skip the breakfast buffet next - it was fresh but without a ton of selection).

Great hotel and convention venue. Didn't have the standard hotel look or feel, which was great! Has a pool/whirlpool, really nice workout room, refrigerator and microwave in the room, good food at the hotel restaurant, and the views from this place are amazing.

A little low end for a Crowne Plaza. Room decor was antiquated. Rooms were clean, but some mildew visible in shower. Room service was below average. Restaurant was pretty good, however.

Great view of the town, mountains, lakes. Some distance from the main street...

2 Tesla HPWCs, only had 1 spot blocked by gas cars like 20% of the time we were there. Never brought it up because I was always able to charge. 48 amps at 240 volts.

Dogs are allowed, $20/day. Our room was quite musty, but it was probably a designated dog room so somewhat expected.

Close to the main strip on mirror lake, but there is a massive hill to get down there. Not an issue for me but something to be aware of.

Amazing view of the sunrise if your room is on the Mirror Lake side.
