This hotel is on its last legs, but pretends it's a bay area hotel with a decent brand name. Truth is for the $200+ a night I had to pay during a busy week you get what equates to a low-end motel room.
Where to start...
My floor was half under construction with halls filled with carts of junk and old fixtures. The place smelled stale and mildewy, like it hasn't had fresh air in it since 1990. The sound proofing right over the freeway is non-existent, expect to hear every passing vehicle. You also can hear anyone above you and all the pipes in the building (probably due to the plumbing issues, see below). The bed is a brick with sheets on it - so good luck getting sleep. Oh and if you do get to sleep, the lack of sound proofing will ensure you're up at 6am to listen to the sounds of trucks unloading and honking in the loading dock.
What else you may ask... My room door wouldn't close all the way and lock unless you yanked/slammed it forcefully shut, meaning you can't expect housekeeping to close the door and keep your possessions safe. So put out that do not disturb sign and use the 2nd set of towels. The restaurant is passable at best, but priced like a resort hotel (a mediocre sandwich and a soda will set you back $25). Oh and the plumbing is a mess, my shower wouldn't drain, and my toilet wouldn't flush without holding it for ~20 seconds.
My team all canceled their stays half way through our week in the bay area and found other hotels. But hey, they have tea tree scented conditioner, so you have that look forward to.
That said the staff was nice and polite. Maybe I just got a horrible room, but from what I experienced, this location does not live up to the Crowne Plaza brand or the price. So buyer beware, do not book just based on the brand name and/or semi-decent SFO pricing.
