What a beautiful venue for smaller shows.

What a beautiful venue for smaller shows.

It's a very intimate place to see acts that would perform at much larger theaters in Atlanta. At my most recent visit I sat in the front of the upper balcony, where the sound was fantastic.

I look forward to future visits.

Love hargray! They host great events and the staff are always courteous! Saw southern mama last night and couldn't have asked for a better show! Hubby and I are legally blind, so stairs make us extremely nervous. They put us in the accesable seating which took the anxiety away on our end. Great experience and I wish all other venues (and their employees) were this nice. There was a security guy who stayed mostly on the stair beside us leading down towards the stage... didn't get his name. He was very helpful in showing where to go (seats, bathrooms, bar ect...)

My favorite venue within a 100 mile radius. Small, personal space. Great acoustics whether you are stage front or up in the balcony. Not a bad spot in the house; and they always bring in great acts at a very reasonable price. I live over an hour away, but travel to the Hargray Capitol Theater at least 4 times a year for shows.

Saw Rumors, Fleetwood Mac Cover band. Show was sold out! Crowd was congenial and the venue is medium size... Perfect for a live band performance. Easy to get around. Not much for seating... Looks like you can reserve tables on balcony. Would go there for show anytime. There are some good restaurants easy walk. Park on street.

The venue itself has a lot of personality. They have kept the original vibe and glory of the building alive well. Saw the Turnpike Troubadours here in October; was disappointed immensely to find out balcony seating wasn't available because of a small turnout...i went to this show with my dad who has issues standing for long periods, and the main reason we chose this venue was because of the advertised balcony seating, so we were extremely disappointed that it wasn't available for our show. Also the staff (or at least some of the staff) is fairly rude and has something of an attitude problem. Other than that, decent venue with a cool vibe and nice acoustics.

Zero stars. Venue was standing room only and filled with drunken college students who weren't there for the music and didn't care if they disrupted the experience of those who were there for the music.

Fun

What a beautiful building in historic downtown Macon. I love going down and watching movies, concerts and the always entertaining hockey games. My wife and I were lucky enough to meet Julio Iglesias after his performance here back in September of 2021. The bathrooms are completely hands free and even water free which makes the experience splash free. The bar serves good old fashioned drink favorites and the food menu is just as good. We ordered a basket of onion rings and two scoops of mint ice cream to enjoy with our pitcher of Steel Reserve. We'll be back!

Hopefully you don't have any questions because they don't ever answer the phone. Also, don't bother leaving a message because they will NEVER call you back. Can't go to the show I was interested because they never called me back to answer my questions and the show sold out. My questions are still unanswered and still no contact after trying to reach them for a week.

Update: Thank you for the call back.

I have more of a question than comment. Why is this show or is it the facility that is making Todd Snyder show tonight for 18 and up, if a teenager has an adult to accompany him why can't they attend. This is the reason our young people today get into more trouble than when I was coming up. I'm not over 40 but I remember my parents taking me to concerts everywhere. They all sold alcoholic drinks but it was nothing. Just wanted to know if it is possible for a 14 year old to get in with a charopone?

Awesome venue, very cozy and intimate, and great acoustics. I love that this place isn't huge and you can either get balcony seats or enjoy the floor in front of the stage. It has a similar ambience to the Georgia Theatre in Athens, which is one of my favorites.

We went here for a live comedy show a few weekends ago. Entrance was easy and quick with the phone scan tickets. Staff was helpful and polite. No issues personally! I will go back in the future.

Greetings. To be clear, I have not attended a performance at the venue - this review is focused solely on their lack of customer service, based on my recent experience. Background: my lady and I are in our 60's, I've been attending live music performances since 1966 or '67 from the WBAM Big Bam package shows in Montgomery, AL, to the Fillmore East (was there the night the original Live At Fillmore East was recorded), to Red Rocks to the Belly Up in the San Diego area. I also took a couple years off from my normal work (technical professional) and managed a live music club as well as served on the board of directors of a sizeable (~200,000 attendees over a 3-1/2 day period) festival with three music stages, where I was on the entertainment committee as well as booked, produced and emceed the first evening of (national) Blues in the 20 year history of the festival.

I'm currently in the Columbia, SC for a work gig and although I don't attend many shows these days, I can and do still have interest and excitement over a show now and then. So when I saw that Ray Wylie Hubbard was playing this venue on Saturday May 24th, and then Lucinda Williams on May 31st, I became excited. I checked tickets, no reserve tickets were available (remember - we're in our 60's and not up to standing for a 2-3 hour show (including opener) or being jostled by a crowd - I thought, well, I'll contact the club and ask them about their set up, i.e. is there other seating that might be available if we get there by a certain time, etc. It's a 3-1/2 drive for us, we would have needed to stay overnight, etc.

So I called the ticket purchase number ... twice ... no help. I emailed the Marketing/Box Office Manager ... twice ... no response. I called the main # and left a message as directed ... twice ... no help. When I managed the club I referred to above, I took pride and pleasure in answering inquiries from patrons, or potential patrons, no matter when they presented themselves ... while we were busy getting the club ready for the night's show ... or in the middle of a show. I did so because not only was it my job ... it was also my pleasure as well.

I'll make it to Macon at some point ... I must visit the Big House museum ... and I'll hopefully at least be able to walk into the club and check it out (because it's my hobby to do so) ... I used to let folks do whenever asked ... but I really wonder if management at the Cox Capitol Theatre would even allow that. It's a shame and it's sad!! Be well ... David.

Quite possibly my favorite performance venue in Macon. This place is ideal for festivals...of all kinds. Not bad for theatrical productions, but I would more likely recommend Macon Little Theatre or Theatre Macon for that. This place is more for opera, film, comedy, and band performances. Really cool bar and seating.

The theatre has great acoustics and it's an excellent atmosphere. Lots of old school touches that make it a more intimate experience. I didn't make it to the balcony but that seems to be where everyone wanted to be. I stayed up close and had an awesome time. There was a bar on the floor and a bar on the middle level. Drinks were extremely reasonable price and size wise, we were not disappointed! Here was plenty of space even in a full house. It's in a great location too, we ate dinner before and had a hard time deciding where to go because of all the great choices. Very happy with our experience, had a great time.
