I've had my insurance for about a year. I was hesitant to purchase insurance through them after reading the reviews, but I've had great coverage and I like my Primary Care Physician and my children's Pediatrician. They've covered everything and I've had very little out of pocket expenses.

One star is still about 8 stars too many. This company is quite simply the VERY worst: worst customer service, worst excuse for health care, worst business sense, worst communication skills. Run, don't walk... because these people are unbearable. It's unfathomable to me that they have jobs, let alone remain in business. Coventry might as well be calling themselves a fast-food restaurant.

Why, you might ask... "they don't serve food". No - but they don't serve healthcare either. They wave the banner but they don't serve. They offer no answers. They deny the majority of claims. They lie about the available list of providers. They repeatedly hang up on paying clients. They routinely play the bait-and-switch game. They don't know their own company policies.

Because of Coventry and their use of National Imag...

Because of Coventry and their use of National Imaging Association, my CT Scan had to be cancelled. I've waited 10 days with a kidney stone and now I have to reschedule. Contrast requires advanced planning, which I did.

The national imaging association insisted upon speaking with me before I could get the authorization to have the CT scan! Why? Are they paid based upon how many people they speak with? Why are they insistent upon scheduling my CT?

It appears I am the victim of your poor selection in authorization partners. I missed my CT because Coventry insists upon using poor customer service pro

They have policies about what they cover, but exceptions to the policies only they know. Claim to not have received your appeal when it's sent twice. You have no voice when dealing with these people, they don't care how bad you're suffering.

This is the worse insurance company known to man. They are a complete rip off. you get an invoice that states your premium is due on the 1st and you pay it on the first , they flag your account in other words your account is blocked and you cannot go to the doctor nor pick up your prescription. All they do is lie and tell you oh the computer automatically puts a flag on your account that tells the pharmacist you haven't paid your premium yet they have taken your money out of your account. What an awful company ! Everyone you speak to on the phone is a liar and very unprofessional. 10 days after my payment was made and money withdrawn i was still blocked out of my account while they were still posting in my account flagged for non payment of premium. I encourage you to run as fast as you can from these scammers.

i have had the worse luck with this insurance company getting my payment posted to the account correctly. Went the pharmacy a few days ago to get some medicine could not get it because Coventry did not have my inforation but they had my payment. 4 days later i still don have my medicine

My experience with Coventry has been TERRIBLE. I signed up with them through the Healthcare Marketplace. Coventry made a mistake on my insurance and entered my policy wrong. Because it was through the Marketplace, they couldn't correct the problem directly. I had to go through the Marketplace. I paid my premium every month. The problem came because I switched from a Silver plan to a Bronze. Coventry processed the Bronze plan but the Marketplace still billed the Silver plan. I had no access to the Silver plan. I kept in contact with Coventry and paid my premium each month. They were getting $136.02 from me and $443.00 from the Marketplace. It took the Marketplace months to finally give me a judgement. During that time, Coventry terminated my plan twice, It was very challenging to get help from upper management from Coventry. The customer service people were polite and would say they were sorry for my inconvenience but couldn't do anything about it. Their data system would reflect all the notes on your account so I had to describe my problem. I wouldn't use this company at all!!!

Do not select this company for Insurance, My mother is in hospital for broken hip, doctors cleared her medically to go to rehab facility 2 days ago, Coventry still hasn't approved her move to rehab, so we are stuck in hospital through the weekend at least. customer no-service said it could be as long as 7-14 days before we get approval. They just don't seem to care. if I could give them zero stars I would.

If I could give NEGATIVE STARS I would! Please NOTE THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE AND MY PERCEPTIONS OF THE WAY THE SERVICE HAS BEEN.So IN MY OPINION, This is truly WORSE than having NO INSURANCE at all. I don't think any of the folks workin there care about ANY of us lowly monthly payments (yes, I feel we are not humans to them, but are dollar signs instead) We pay them for over 15 YEARS faithfully and on time through work, barely using them and then when we get hurt/sick, they act like we are insurance vampires. I swear they SEEM to still practice and believe in THE old school "ALWAYS DENY FIRST, HOPE THE PATIENT DOESNT APPEAL, THEN DENY AGAIN, AND CAUSE SO MUCH TROUBLE THAT THE PATIENT FINALLY GIVES UP aND PAYS OUT OF POCKET" philosophy of insurance companies . I WISH I knew if things are covered or not as my dts office and coventry have DIFFERENT statements and Im scared Im going to get a HUGE bill for a procedure that I was told was COVERED..They SEEM to be CLUELESS at customer sevice. NO MATTER WHO I TALK TO, I hang up feelin like they know less than I do. SOMEONE needs to retrain or read outlinea of their job description so they know what their responsibilities are. I would like to send them a petition begging them to overhaul their whole system because Patients, Dr's and Pharmacys seem to have trouble with them. I can't get things covered and I really want my bluecross back-They NEVER treated me this way:( I wish I knew who to file formal complaints to because my out of pocket is MORE THAN the self pay rates.. They do help with SOME things, like dr visits at 65 bucks a visit which ISNT really BAD and simple prescriptions! I hate this coverage because I'm in need of medical care and can't even get a simple procedure done because they said the last one was denied and the upcoming one is denied too..My Dr's office said the first one AND the upcoming one WAS APPROVED but Coventry said Im NOT APOROVED..Also, my Drs are NOT idiots. If they say I need it, I do. They don't go around prescribing treatments that are not medically necessary(And yeah, about that term..SOME insurance companies seem to think medically necessary means SUBJECT TO OUR BEAN COUNTERS APPROVAL)But I digress..Soo, I've seen the SAME dr for almost 10 years, he's in network with them and yet they don't seem to trust HIS dx and his recommendations all of a sudden? Why? Another example...My husband never goes to the Dr and he got hurt one single time and needed treatment at an UC or ER. He chose UC to be frugal! And guess what, DENIED, RIGHT OFF THE BAT!! They DID finally pay that one but still, it's JUST NOT right to put people through this hell when we are clearly already stressed due to our medical situations! I HOPE ANYONE that sees this keeps this in mind before signing a contract with them. I wouldn't even want my worst enemy getting this insurance! MAYBE someone likes them though I have found very few good reviews for them other than the ONE on here. I can only say a few things that are ACTUALLY good about them, but so far, the bad outweighs the good by far in my situation(and in others judging by other reviews Ive seen) I PRAY my husband's work drops them in January, IM VERY UNHAPPY AND DISSATISFIED WITH THIS SITUATION and I'm somewhat emotional about it! I think that's understandable considering the situation!

DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE!!!!!!! This company has caused me so much stress. They hang up the phone on me all the time and have cancelled my insurance about five times in the past month. They can't find out why. There is no way to get out of this insurance thanks to Obamacare.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. CUSTOMER SERVICE INCOMPETENT, NOT HELPFUL, SAYS EVERYTHING IS A "GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM" AND WE (THE CUSTOMER) SHOULD FOLLOW BACK UP ON IT.....EVERYDAY....UNTIL ITS SOVED. UNBELIEVABLE THESE IDIOTS ARE IN BUSINESS. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID. DIDNT WANT TO GIVE 1 STAR BUT THATS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN POST. TOOK OUR MONEY, NEVER WOULD ISSUE AN id#. They do not pay their Independent Agents Commissions on health insurance sold to the consumers. It has been over 90 days now and I have not received any commissions sold on products that were effective on January 1st, 2015. It is a shame. How do they get away with this?

My employer has used them for years now as our insurance provider. They are terrible. The people you talk to on the phone are rude and appear to not know how to do their jobs. I have had multiple occasions where a doctor's office would call to get the amount that I needed to pay for a procedure only to find out afterward that the $ amount they were given was quite wrong. My wife had two diagnostic procedures at an urologists office. We were quoted an amount that we paid upfront. This was NOT a copay - it was supposed to be the whole amount. Afterward we received a bill for more than twice what we had already paid. This same type of thing has happened multiple times over the years. You need to get whatever they tell you in writing if you can. But every time I have tried to do that they have refused. Awful, awful company.

Also, ask for the cash price from your doctor or pharmacy. Many times it will be far lower than actually using your "benefits". Although if you do that it won't apply toward the ridiculous deductible.

I have had so many problems getting information from Coventry regarding my insurance membership. I hate to be mean, but the many people I spoke to on the phone, although nice, were some of the most incompetent customer service people I've ever had to deal with. The head doesn't know what the foot is doing, to quote my mom. They were confused, clueless, and unhelpful. Even the person I got transferred to (after many hours on the phone) who was supposed to be in management, could not answer my questions. Such a frustrating experience so far, and I've only just begun membership with them. I don't know how long I will stay with them - we'll see if anything improves. If it does, I will update this review, but as of right now, I wish I had never chosen them. I should have stuck with United, or tried Cigna. Coventry - educate your employees, please!! Improve your customer communication!! Hold higher expectations for your underwriting team!! If this is how you run your business, your business will run right into the ground and lose customers.

This is the worst insurance I ever had in my life. My co payments were $50.00 and up. $50.00 for every doctors visit and my medication were over $50.00 for generic. Do not look, do not walk but FREAKEN RUN AWAY FROM THIS INSURANCE COMPANY!! THANK GOD, I AM AT A JOB WITH REAL INSURANCE.

Cancelled policy 6/28/16 will not send my termination to medicaid so I can get medication or medical care. Today is 8/3/2016 this is ridiculous I have reported them to State Insurance still nothing. I don't understand how they are not being held accountable. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and i can't afford my medicine on my own all I want is to be released so I can get my medicine and doctor care.
