The AC seemed to run and run but never cooled the room enough to my liking, but other than that everything was spectacular and what you'd expect with the Marriott name (comfy bed, great service).

Clean hotel. Love the view (at least from my room). Love the look of the hotel. Parking garage is very tight in space. Old stairs can be redone that lead to the upstairs parking area. Night crew was nice and the love the fact that they have a bar in the hotel. But they do need to tell you that they are going to charge your credit card for incidentals that may occur but have not occurred.

We are still staying here for hurricane, front desk stuff is very friendly but employees at the bar and restaurant are awful. They have a nice restaurant and bar, but the guy at the bar seems like to own this bar. I don't think he is friendly. Rooms are clean, nice but very cold. And every single thing u want , u have to get downstairs.

yep

Good

Staff is very nice, hotel is old and need renovation . Rooms facing the rood and on lower floors gets all the traffic noise in the night. Ask for a room on the back side and on higher floors

I came here for MEPS. Very nice hotel, bar food was really good too. I can't speak to the price because Uncle Sam footed the bill for me but the rooms were clean and the atmosphere was great. If you're there for military, you'll enjoy your stay! Freedom club (military only) has a big TV, several smaller TV's with previous gen gaming consoles hooked up, and board games. I'm sure you'll look forward to getting back here after waiting around all day at MEPS. Good luck to all you future service members!!

Very small rooms. Double room with very little space. Not good if you have 4 people in this tight space. Very compact. No DVD player. Does not even have a microwave in the rooms. You can open and close the bathroom door, turn on the water in the tub while sitting on the toilet. Only 2 elevators with 9 floors! RIDICULOUS..... Very small pool. Looks more like a hot tub. Hitel seems to be clean. This is not what I'm use to, but I'm here now. NEVER AGAIN though.

The offer a lot for the price. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Bed linens especially the pillow could have been fresher. It was when I was living that I realized they have a fridge.

The hotel in South Carolina was good and pretty much practicing most of the covid-19 protocol and procedures. I wish that all Marriott's would continue to hold a high standard of cleanliness no matter what state you go to.

Courtyard Columbia Downtown at USC is a great hotel in the middle of Columbia and close to the campus of the University of South Carolina. This is one of my favorite hotels in Columbia as it is convenient to everything and great for doing business and having meetings. The hotel is always clean and well maintained and smells good which is important for a hotel. The staff is super helpful and friendly and does everything that they can to make sure that everyone has the best stay possible. I have had a very positive experience every time I have visited here and they are very consistent in quality over the years and have stayed at a high level while some other hotels in the area have fallen off. This is an awesome hotel.

Great value, very nice staff, great location. Lobby bar well-stocked and serves Starbucks Coffee. Pool water was a bit on the cloudy side but the deep end is 9 feet so despite the No Diving signs it's certainly deep enough and it's long enough to not feel completely silly swimming laps. Our room was nice, has a small fridge and a white noiseachine! Best of all, bed was great.

We stayed here for 2 nights to see a show at the Koger Center, which is located just down the street. We prepaid using CitiRewards points from our credit card and the front desk staff could not figure out how to use a different credit card to have on hand for incidentals, etc. That took a good 10-15 mins to check us in once they finally figured it out, with the help of a second staff member assisting. Our room was not great. There was no view out the window, except to look at some weird partial wall thing that goes around the side of the building. The road noise was evident. The thermostat didn't respond the first time we used it. The small fridge in the room is located in a cabinet under the TV and hummed loudly and made all sorts of noise, so annoying that we wanted to unplug it but could not. The tiny plastic coffee maker in the room was cracked and appeared to be missing parts so we didn't want to use it. Maintenance came up within 30 mins. of us calling the front desk to bring us another identical tiny plastic coffee maker. We brewed coffee and it smelled awful, so much that we unplugged the machine and dumped out the coffee. From the smell, we detected there might have been algae or filth in the coffee maker. There was no vent in the bathroom, only one switch which was for the light. The bed was somewhat comfortable. There was no welcome booklet in the room that would normally suggest restaurants in the area, what's available for room service, and tourist sites, etc. We had drinks downstairs at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and attentive. We also had breakfast one morning and we had the nicest server attend to us. Very nice lady, very courteous and very responsive. The housekeeping staff was also very nice and very responsive. We parked our car in the awkward attached parking deck. It is hard to maneuver in small spaces and there are columns everywhere you have to watch out for, must have tiny car to get around in there, $10 automatically added to hotel bill, and water from a pipe was leaking onto the roof of our car, so we spent time finding another space to park. If you drive to second or third floor, you have to drag your bags downstairs to get to lobby or park in front of lobby and unload first, then go park car and walk downstairs. There's a sidewalk from parking garage to lobby but you can barely walk on it to get out of way of incoming hotel traffic because they have a large Marriott sign that is hung low at eye level and extends a foot or two over the sidewalk and blocks the sidewalk so it's hard to walk or tote your suitcase down the sidewalk to get to the garage. Overall, I would not recommend staying here. Had we not prepaid, we would have left and found a different hotel. Lesson learned.

Considering that I was here with a large group (30+) on a field trip, the accommodations have been phenomenal... Not because the staff has been anything less than FANTASTIC, but because teenagers are gross. Every staff member has been unbelievably friendly, kind, and helpful. We have been very well taken care of. My only complaint is the "Compact Cars Only" parking garage. I drive a Hyundai Genesis and I had an EXTREMELY difficult time steering in between the giant cement blocks in the middle of the spaces. Driving through the garage to get to the upper levels was a bit terrifying. Solution: I recommend a sign that says additional parking is available if you exit the hotel on Assembly and turn before you the Domino's. I would love to come here when it's a little warmer to enjoy the poolside patio and fireplace!!

I attended a work meeting for two days in the Lexington room at the Marriott. The location was convenient, plenty of free parking, and friendly staff. The breakfast and lunch served was good. Our group did have trouble once with the hotel internet but it was resolved quickly. The setting was quiet and we got lots done. The bathrooms were very clean. Everything was clean and inviting.

I like soap and shampoo in bathroom (much better solution than small bottles and environment friendly). Did not like: some finishes in bathroom, dirty shower curtain, dirty glass (! Why they put glass in plastic bag? Would be better to have a note "clean your glass before use"), noise (outside AC units and fridge which was louder than under window AC).

This is my first, and hopefully last time, ever posting on poor review on all travel websites. I have been platinum within Marriott for over 5 years and a Marriott rewards member for over 15 years. I was on my Marriott account on 4/2/2016 planning travel for the upcoming week. I accidentally booked two rooms for April 2nd in Columbia, SC instead of my intended date of April 6th. I immediately called the platinum number to correct my mistake. The gentlemen was very helpful and changed my date to the 6th but the Springhill Suites rate was too high for that night, $260, so I booked two rooms at the Towne Hill Suites off of Harbison instead. That Tuesday morning, April 5th, I received an email stating I was being charged for two rooms on the 2nd for a "no show". I was not worried because Marriott has always stood behind any mistakes they have made thus far in my history of working with them. I called the Platinum number and they said this would have to go through the hotel, not them, per the hotels requirements. They took notation down and emailed them immediately. I received a reply from Wes Phibbs who said they would not give me a refund due to their cancellation policy. I emailed back asking for him to reconsider this decision since I cancelled within 5 minutes of booking my stay, he would not.
I will never stay at this hotel in the future and this obviously does not bother them since repeat business is not important to them. This is not a matter of them not being able to fill a room, since I cancelled so quickly, but rather a frugal hotel that would rather "double dip" since semantics can back their shrewd business policies. Still shocked they would not acknowledge their mistake and make it right for the customer. They obviously feel they have a great location, true, and do not need to have excellent customer service.

I love this Marriott! The hotel was fresh and clean. The staff was so accommodating and friendly! We really felt welcome and will definitely come back there whenever we're in town. Who cares about the tight (small) parking lot when everything else was great. We own a SUV and had no issues parking.

Such a great experience staying here for my doctoral graduation ceremony at USC in December. The staff was very accommodating with allowing a late checkout and the room was very clean, and loved the close walking distance to the Koger Center.

Mixed experience but overall very good. During check in I had to speak up for a person to acknowledge me. The Starbucks products are not hot. At breakfast, food preparer takes trash out and then didnt appear to wash hands, wears just one glove. Holly, Lennae, and Meckey were very courteous. Overall very good experience.
