The location is ideal. Just a stone's throw from the South Carolina Capitol and just 1.5 hours from Charlotte. Offers an alternative to an overnight stay in Charlotte. I can't say much about the city itself. We traveled from Charleston via Myrtle Beach that day and I was just tired in the evening. The capitol itself is quite nice

n joroom furnishings are beautiful. large room...no view though. but that's okay.
what I thought strange was no type of info in the room about room service...no menus downstairs either. ..only wall board menu. lol! couldn't see it because I left my glasses in room. saw a menu for ft Jackson. .told I couldn't use it??? but I did catch a soup on there and asked if I could order thst and take to my room...ok! had to get drink from commissary type area and pay at front desk for that...ludicrous!
oh well...just weird. and parking garage is very tight...I have a small car and still had trouble. ..need a smart car here.

Room was clean. Great view of downtown Columbia. Quite a few restaurants in walking distance. Service at the hotel was great. We did not try out the bar/bistro. There was plenty of parking, but the deck had very low ceiling height and anything over 6 ft would have to go around the block to park on the top level.

All in all, this is typically a trusted brand and I'm sure I will visit other courtyards, but will look for a different place to stay the next time I return to Columbia. Friendly staff, exceptionally clean lower level and rooms. There are a couple nuances that kept it from being a five-star review. The first is that you will hear the train horn blast throughout the night there is not a whole lot you can do about it. They're nice enough to put earplugs in the rooms but that's not something that I want to have to use. The second is that the restaurant was not open through lunch. After a long morning of traveling and arriving at 1 p.m. the restaurant was closed. In fact, I couldn't even order drinks from there. They did have coffee at the reception desk...that you could buy. I'm not certain I've been to a hotel where you couldn't pour yourself a cup of coffee while waiting in the lobby.
