Courtyard Marriott Downtown at USC Reviews

Staff was courteous and cordial and the hotel looked to be very well taken care of from what I saw in my visit.

Best hotel I've stayed at, best staff as well. The sweet tea was really good. Great experience overall.

I was in town for a social event comma a wedding, and we needed somewhere to change use the restroom and freshen up. We stopped at the Marriott because it was convenient, and even though we felt awkward, the staff was very friendly and the inside of the building was immaculate. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone just based off of my limited experience in the lobby. It seemed like a top-class Marriott and I really appreciate the Friendly Dentist they offered us even though it was pretty obvious we probably were not spending the night there.

Dropped off some friends. Rooms seemed adequate, nice pool, small but not bad fitness room. Staff extremely nice and helpful.

The Marriotts in Columbia are just not very good. Don't need to be, next to a college with cheap inexperienced labor and in high demand. Don't expect much. Check out these cockroaches just chilling in the hallways, yummy.

Loud (lot of street traffic - hotel provided ear plugs). Very narrow parking, though it was free

The conference room was the venue for a friend's baby shower. The space and the food was good.

The air conditioner/thermostat did not work properly in our room. Also...the hotel hallways were ridiculously hot as well. If you line it cold to sleep I wpuld thi k twice abiut this hotel. We had three people look at our AC UNIT and essentially they couldn't or wouldn't fix it...they did nothing. The underground garage is as low and as tight as any hotel garage I have ever seen. We have an SUV and I couldn't park in it. Overall the hotel is ok for the money but it has its short comings.

Clean. Friendly Front Desk staff and Bar Keep. Unfortunately however, My clear request for privacy was violated when privacy sign was ignored, removed and room attended despite the placement of sign on door. Received extra towels that weren't requested and used towels placed neatly on bar were removed and replaced with clean. No sense in having green policy in place if staff ignores it. So, serious fail on part of housekeeping staff. Event staff were professional and unintrusive, public areas well maintained and cafe prices reasonable. No comp breakfast, would have been appreciated.

Mary is friendly and provides an excellent customer experience. The staff greets you and wishes you well. The lobby is nice in the location to USC it's fantastic. The rooms are a bit dated.

I did not stay here, but I did help a friend check in and visited her room. Great service at the front desk, very clean and welcoming in the room.

It was very nice. Enjoyed the quiet rooms and restaurant.

The area was quite nice, the room and the chairs were comfortable. However the smoke from around the restaurant downstairs made my eyes burn.

The staff was wonderful, especially the front desk attendant Kelly. Very accommodating, clean, and convenient hotel! If I am ever in Columbia again this is the only property I would stay at! Thank you :)

A decent place for a professional event. The space was clean and adequate.

We stayed 3 nights and every single staff member we saw, smiled, said hello, ask if we needed anything & to let them know if when we did need something.

I should have known noise would be a problem when there were earplugs and a noise machine on the bedside table but had no idea the train would come thru blowing its horn multiple times during the night (sometimes for 5-10 minutes at a time!), could hear airplanes and the room fronted Assembly Street so I heard loud trucks and emergency vehicles on top of the train thru out the night. (All 3 nights i was here) Will never stay here again. No sleep and had early mornings.

We weren't there for long, got in late and then left super early, but everything was easy and convenient and clean and the staff was nice. Great stay.

It's OK. Time to update the air conditioning for the whole building. Afternoon staff is very friendly

The hotel is very clean and modern. Pur bed was very comfortable and seemed new. Sheets and duvet smelled clean and fresh. The staff was probably the friendliest I have ever encountered, even by Southern standards. There is a parking deck for free self parking, a huge plus in Famously Hot Columbia. Easy walk to campus and Gervais St. There are no USB ports in the room, so bring a plug for your chargers. Definitely recommend.

We had a great experience staying here. Kacey, at the front desk, was extremely nice and helpful with checking in. After checking in and getting in our room we discovered a small plumbing issue in the room. We called the front desk and Kacey had us another room to move to immediately. Great customer service & very nice, clean rooms. Will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

The staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. Great location that was easily accessible to where we needed to be. Our only complaint was that the outside heat seemed to be getting the better of the hotel. Our bathroom started to heat up if the door was left closed and we had trouble getting true cold water out of the tap. We brought these issues to the attention of staff upon checkout (we didn't really notice these issues until the overnight hours) who were apologetic and told us they would have maintenance look into it.

Husband stayed overnight for a visit to Fort Jackson. My main complaint is that the parking is a bit hard to navigate, even in a compact car. Site was clean, room was adequate.

Conveniently across the street from Columbia Colliseum and walking distance from Colonial Life Arena...also surrounded by eateries up and down the block like California Dreaming Casual Dining Restaurant, IHOP, Wendy's and Sonic if you're looking for Fast Food...

Hotel elevator was not operational at check in. Carried my luggage up 8 flights of steps. Noise level was terrible starting at about 3:30am on the Assembly street side of the hall. Old hotel and parking is awkward. Would recommend finding a different place to stay in the future.

Overall the hotel is really nice. The staff was helpful and friendly.

The staff from everyone at the front desk to the maids we encountered in the hallways were extremely accommodating and personable. Each one went out of there way to say hello and ask us if we needed anything, welcoming the chance to help us if we asked. Great stay!!

I love this hotel!! I stay at it every time I'm in the area! The bistro is always my dinner of choice.

Building and the indoor parking facility were a bit old. However, room was clean and well maintained. Receptionist, cleaning and restaurant staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. Excellent staff !

Hotel is very well kept with friendly staff and excellent food. It is in a convenient location off of Assembly street and once checked in they will provide you with a parking pass for the garage.

Nice refresh on the finishes in the rooms and public spaces, but the bones of the building are old. Everything a bit small or ceilings too low - especially garage and baths.

The atmosphere the hotel sets is pleasing and welcoming. The bed I slept was incredible. The room also smelled great. I didn't like the prices for the food but over everything else, I still had a great experience.

The rooms are nice and clean. The hotel has friendly staff and were well prepared for the event taking place. But if you actually want to sleep, this isn't the hotel to book. All night long, all I've heard are sirens and ambulances racing up and down the streets of downtown Columia (right outside our window).

This is a nice hotel, but for the exorbitant price of around $190 a night, there should be more amenities included, like free breakfast or at least coffee.
The staff was amazing, except for one woman, Lauren. Every time we went to ask a question, she acted as though we were idiots.
I honestly have never posted a review, but I think that the manager should know about the horrible front desk service from Lauren.

Very nice hotel on campus. Staff was awesome! Rooms are very comfortable. Unfortunately, the Courtyard brand still doesn't recognize elite members of their Bonvoy program as does the other Marriott brands. That said, I would still stay here again.

Very clean rooms, great water pressure, quiet at night onside hotel but can hear sirens sometimes but it is downtown, great places to eat within walking distance, staff was very friendly, there was great flavored water available, and snacks and microwave dinners to buy. The bed is comfy, great pillows, HBO, sound machine, mini fridge, and pool.

Great room with a fridge, couch, desk, closet, and coffee. Also free wifi and a decent mini restaurant/bar in the lobby. Everything I needed to be comfortable on business travel.

In contacting the Hotel, I was hung up on 4 times. The staff were not "happy people" or accomodating people. I hope they change their ways!

This location was spotless. The staff was very helpful and clearly wanted to help! The food at the restaurant was amazing, especially the tomato soup!

Free wifi, free parking, reasonably adequate continental breakfast, reasonably convenient to what I needed it to be convenient to. Friendly staff, rooms have AC that works, beds are better than others I've slept in while on the road lately. Not astoundingly amazing, but perfectly adequate and fine for the price.
