Just spent 3 nights in an apartment here. Cannot fault the staff, food, service or location. However having mobility issues I was shocked at the lack of walk in showers - told only one room in whole complex has one? Also the pedestrian walkways leading from the rooms to the main entrance lead straight onto the busy parking / drop off road area outside the door so you end up walking on grass, around cars etc to get in the door. Surely this isn't even legal? It's no wonder we didn't see a single wheelchair user - very sad indeed.

A pleasant enough stay, the room was spacious but a little tired around the edges. Could really have done with a new carpet. Beds and pillows we found exceptionally comfortable however. In better weather than we had the deck accessed from the room would have been very nice to sit out on.

However when we returned on the first day at about 4:00pm housekeeping hadn't yet been to our room. Wasn't a big deal to us, but a little odd. Stuck the do not disturb notice out so don't know if/when they would have arrived.

The breakfast was fine, it is buffet style which has the advantage that you have complete control over portion size. The sausages didn't taste overly bready and the bacon was decent. Every cooked item looked relatively fresh and not like it had been sitting long.

The staff were definitely a little harried and barely holding the service together, teas and coffees to the table were noticeably slow. There are a lot of people to deal with though (this place is huge) so its a little understandable. Breakfast was included in our room rate so can't really comment on value.

We didn't use any treatments from the spa, but did make use of the facilities. It's worth noting that the hydrotherapy pools are sections of the main pool rather than separate. However the sauna and steam room were good as were the hydrotherapy bits. I liked the bucket shower and the experience shower, they were nice touches.
The pool room was again a little tired in some areas, but nothing a lick of paint wouldn't sort. Changing rooms were clean and tidy though. Would strongly recommend going at kid-unfriendly hours - the pool area is quite small. Personally I couldn't spend all day there, but it was pleasant enough way to kill an hour or so.

We didn't eat in the brasserie, but went to the boat house pub for dinner on the first night on the basis of reviews here. Food there was good quality (it tasted like the salad had seen the sun at some point in this life and the meat was decent quality) and we found the portions perfectly sized. Food was ok for the price point, any more expensive and I wouldn't have been that happy. A couple of quid cheaper on the dishes and we would probably gone back both nights.

We had booked via a secret escapes deal which was b&b in a superior room. Felt we got a good enough stay on that basis of the rate we paid. Had we paid full whack I'm not sure I would have been so happy.

I must mention the floor managers at the old boat house on the Friday and the one in the brasserie early on the Sunday for breakfast. They were both very friendly, accomodating and gave excellent service. On that basis it was a 4star. Otherwise 3.

Really lovely nature reserves and parks. Only downside was lack of signage for the recommended walks as posted on the website. If these are there it would help to make them more prominent for those of us that need that guidance.

Lovely room and location, awful service.

Lovely room and location, awful service.
Was told that room service "has stopped" when trying to order drinks to the room. Went to breakfast and stood in long queue for 15 min before giving up and going elsewhere looked like a bun fight in the restaurant with no food left on the sides. Needed more milk but reception did not answer....... obviously need more staff and a bigger restaurant for this size hotel!

Rooms are beautiful, although we wanted to walk round the lakes as myself and my partner are both a sucker for a nice landscape, we struggled to find a lake where this was possible as its fairly built up. Ate in the restaraunt on our last night there and the steak was barely edible, very very chewy. Attention to detail wasnt great, for example my girlfriend had afternoon tea and the tea pot was filthy, having worked for De Vere before and spending many hours polishing tea pots, I dont quite understand how a hotel in such a premiere location can have such low standards?

The venue promised much. My daughter and I had come for a Spa day out -a treat.
The spa day was packaged as tempting treats
We'd both travelled over an hour from opposite directions and when I arrived I was told that our treatments were half an hour earlier than I'd been told on the phone meaning that we had to rush to get to the treatment rooms gulping down a much needed coffee..
My daughter managed to change hers to 3pm, but no slot for me.
By 12.30pm we were hungry, so we went to the bar to order something healthy like a salad or soup, but only sandwiches were available.
I imagined our afternoon tea would be cakes and tea at 2pm but found out , after we'd ordered our sandwiches that it would sandwiches and cakes!
I swiftly cancelled our sandwiches at the bar as we were told that we could go straight up before 2pm and have our afternoon tea early .
We were so hungry.
We waited and waited. I have low blood sugar and need to eat early, so I was feeling dizzy and sick after waiting for over 40minutes with nothing.
Finally the sandwiches and cakes arrived and they were very nice.
However I felt that we were not sufficiently informed about the package deal as a whole.
The 25 min treatments were wonderful, though there was someone banging about in a room nearby and I couldn't totally relax.
The pool and swimming complex were superb.
I think the day for me was spoiled by lack of information on what to expect from the package itself.
A nice healthy salad or soup would have been better and more fitting than sandwiches and cake at 2pm .
The staff were friendly and helpful however, but the day was not as relaxing as we'd hoped it would be.

Hotel is quiet but is overpriced. Nowhere air-conditioning outdated bathroom and very dirty terrace and then we had a luxurious room.
Probably looking around there are better options we had gone by the photos but these are not true.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Service was good, we were giving a room on ground floor close to reception so I didn't have to walk far as I'm pregnant which was a nice touch. Breakfast was amazing, so much to choose from and they even put takeaway boxes out for you to take some away. Beautiful walks around the lakes and through the woods. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely come back soon!

I can only give this a Three star because i felt the bed was very uncomfortable & also we didn't have certain facilities in the room that we expected according to the website. Also, the food was not of a great standard for the price.

De Vere Cotswold is a wonderful place for a relaxing break.

We enjoyed the food from The Old Boathouse, one of the on-site restaurant options. I'd recommend booking a table when you check in as it can be busy.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, from check in through to departure.

Very clean room with a comfortable bed.

The spa pool is freely available to hotel guests during the morning and evening which meant we had something to do even when it was cold raining.

Looking forward to staying here again!

We went based on a high recommendation from some friends, and we weren't disappointed! Even with the Covid restrictions in place, we had a lovely time. The staff are superb, special mention of the nice man who runs the cleaning team, who took time to talk to us and gave our little girl a cuddly toy (which was sealed in plastic for Covid safety). Will be back soon!

I was visiting the hotel for a business function, and it's a beautiful location. The hotel staff were excellent, and the food provided was very nice. All in all I'd highly recommend the venue.

The meal and the music was good. It is a lovely venue. However, I was disappointed by the poor customer service shown by the waiters (one tall one to be more specific) who ruined it for me. I went to pick up a glass of champagne because I thought it was a non-alcoholic drink and I get asked to show my ID which is fair enough but the waiter just stood there so rudely and tried to intimidate me and when I realised it was alcoholic he snatched my drink away and walked off. Also, my brother (who is 18) had ID and this waiter struggled to read it and understand his date of birth. Later on, I had a coke in my hand and I was drinking it and the same waiter came up to me and asked for ID and wouldn t leave me alone. It felt as if he was out to get me and it was very rude and did a similar thing as before except I gave my coke to an older cousin so this waiter would go away. Apart from this, the day was lovely and I would recommend it and I enjoyed the singing performance from the other waiters.

From check in to check out staff provided excellent customer service. On entering the room I was staying I discovered an extra bed had been added, after informing the front desk the bed was removed within 1 1/2 mins. The room was clean, the hotel was very modern and bright, in a picturesque and very accessible location.

The view from the room was nice though the front is just your standard complexed hotel. The room was nice and everything you need in there. The spa was a nice area but the massage was a below average especially for what I paid. Didnt come pit feeling relaxed and It didnt feel amazing at the time either. Definitely had many better massages from my partner who isnt a professional. Breakfast was nice although I couldnt find any drinks apart from coffee. Would I return? Possibly but wouldnt go out of my way

Could be lovely. Mattress like a bed of nails, very soft and every spring sticking in our backs. Clearly needs replacing and upgrading. Had a better mattress in Uni Halls. Women's changing room was filthy, used towels dumped on every surface. Mens not so bad, but dirty floors. No seperate wet/dry area, so you have to walk bare foot where people walk in their shoes. Floors should be mopped frequently. Quite poor insulation in rooms, could everything in corridors.

Positives:
Lovely setting, room had lake view. Breakfast was ok, plenty of everything. Foyer area is nicely kept with fresh flowers. A short drive from Bibury.

Good hotel with plenty of amenities. Check in was smooth and staff very helpful - even took my bag to the room whilst I signed into a business event in the conference rooms. Very clean hotel and spacious. Room was a long walk so beware if you get a high numbered room (I was 463). Ate as part of the event and hot buffet food had a good selection and was tasty. Gym was on the better side of hotel gyms and the spa/pool was great to relax in. A very good hotel not too far from Cirencester so plenty of things to see and do in the local area.

Breakfast pricey but ok range of choices for buffet. Dinner quality really bad, and with London prices. Avoid.

Room pricey. Size ok. But can hear people all around you in other rooms. And so s... an issue.

Spa awful and full of kids.

Location is ok. No where near as pretty as photos suggest.

Don't bother with the kayak place next door. It's basically a big pond. You can't really gogo anywhere.

The bad. A deluxe room is very similar to a premier Inn standard room. We had to call house keeping to ask for our 'deluxe' amenities, they should have already been in the room. Bathroom hook fell off the door. We found month old yogurt in the fridge. Afternoon tea very overpriced. Lots of small things that add up to give an overall picture of being unorganised behind the scenes.

The good. Great location. Friendly staff. Clean.

Lovely hotel but they've restricted the spa timetable so you can only go into the pool between 7.30 and 9.30 am or 5 till 9.30 pm unless you are happy to pay extra. Not impressed as you are already paying a decent amount to stay there. Should not have to pay extra to use spa facilities during the day. Will not go again

Stayed her for August bank holiday weekend. The views and grounds are lovely and so is the pool and spa areas.

However, the rooms and service left a lot to be desired. We had to wait for over 30 minutes for our room to be prepared (even though we booked months in advance and arrived after 3pm).

The room itself was ok and had a decent view of the lake, but had no aircon and was incredibly humid, especially the bathroom.

The service at the restaurants were also horrendous, fortunately we only dined there for dinner the night before we left and beakfast the day we left.

We had an awesome time in Cirencester but definitely won't be visiting any of the four pillar hotels again. If your looking for somewhere to stay, stay well away, the Kings head seems a lot better! We had dinner there one night and we were treated 10 X better than we were here!!

I have stayed in this hotel for 1 night for leasure. Rooms are spacious and nicely designed, had a drink in the bar which is reasonably priced. Had dinner in the main restaurant with gorgeous views overlooking the lake and the food and service was second to none. There's also option to eat in The Old Boathouse if your looking for a pub meal. Overall it was a very relaxing experience and would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful setting and modern rooms. Staff are really friendly and helpful and went above and beyond with kindness. Thanks for the extra gifts for my 6 year old daughter. Spa was relaxing and the breakfast was super too! Many thanks :-) (special mention to Kirsty at checkout and the man who noticed my daughter's Smiggle bag and gave us a kind gift...those touches make a stay extra special!)

Incredible service, beautiful lake view to wake up to. Bar food was class - the Boathouse was fully booked so recommend prebooking if you would like to eat there. But our food in the bar was delicious. All staff are very friendly, our spa treatments were fabulous, we had a very relaxing weekend away. Loved every second and feel rejuvenated and ready for the rest of January. Thank you!
