A lot of empty stores have surfaced over the years in this mall. You have your basic Macy's, Lord & Taylor and Penney's anchor stores. Restaurant variety could use some work and upgrades to be competitive with Tysons Corner. Hopefully the new D&B will help turn this mall around.

I like Fair Oaks Mall - good restaurants and the mall is kept nice and clean but like a lot of Malls these days they're struggling to keep stores around so there's frequent change.... the Dave & Busters was a great recent addition.....
Ive been very happy here. The mall is clean and similar to the local area big indoor malls. It's older than the newly redone springfield mall and tysons and yet is still nice. I like this mall bc you can find some better deals here vs the closer you are to the city(typical). I really wish they had specifically a Gordon Berish (i know I spelled that incorrectly but its a beer and restaurant place. (They have one in Tysons (mall not the galleria) and the food, beer, everything is great.)
The DMV here at Fairoaks Mall is normal but good. The staff is kind. It of course can get busy at the end of the month and beginning of the month. Fridays and esp weekends are bad. For those that are unable to stand due to disability, they have a wheelchair you can barrow. Ive waited over an hour 30 just to get my ticket numbet and get a seat on bad busy days- total over 3 hours done. Other days ive walked right up, got my ticket and been done in 15 min easy. Just dont go on friday sat sun esp end of month weekends.
Victoria secret at fairoaks mall. 6 / 5 stars for fitting room staff. 1/5 stars for checkout counter staff. Im extremely- inpressed w/ the women that have helped fit me here. Twice recently different fitter VS employees have REALLY known a lot and they helped me for a long time find the best fitting bra. Very impressed just ask for help and they are fantastic! Now for a sad part. The checkout was really a poor expeeience time wise. We joked and were like is this buying a bra or are we getting passports and plane tickets? One person was calling her otherhalf to tell him it was still going to be longer due to the line not movibg and that was right in the beginning. In total they couldnt move this one woman off the one registure for some reason(she was unhappy that they didnt have her size in that store aming other things( imo poor customer and registure management) and the only other registure open was going soooooo slow. I mean slow. I was confused as to what was wrong since it seemed to all be working but things were seriously taking so long. Their was a lot of ppl waiting in this line in the hold up just waiting for these two customers to get processed that took long enough for me that I could have gone to the bathroom, and started a book a bit. Things finally moved when this one person came back from lunch and moved ppl through in full speed and it only took us about 3 min max to check out. This disruption was abnormal i hope. It was just weird how great of an experience iwent from the fitting room to the front. I almost left even though i was next in line or second for the majority of this time like 90%. I do love my new bras I will say very very much!
Your standard mall - good shops, we come here mainly for the kid's haircut place. I wish it had a food court. There are lots of restaurants, but sometimes you want something quick - espeically with young kids waiting 20 mintues for a table at Cheesecake Factory is just not an option.
Still a decent amount of stores here. Restaurants are within the mall proper, so still part of the experience. This isn't, and won't be, the same as the Tyson's Center, but it is filled with more general shops. The Brazilian BBQ here is Texas de Brazil. There is also a Cheesecake Factory, one of the three here in or near malls.
This is my local mall! Always do my shopping for clothing and accessories here! And got to stop by Godiva for a quick ice cream grab! So rich and creamy! Never get tired of it.
We like this place. I think it is called "South of the Boarder." This is also my go to mall, when all else fails to carry my choice in clothes, shoes, and purses. I recommend this mall
This is a pretty decent mall. Like other malls there is a bit of turnover with the stores but overall it s pretty stable. The mall is classy enough compared to others in the area. They have a seasonal display in the center where you can meet Santa, the Easter bunny, etc. It s also relatively small, and usually not overly crowded.
Sad to see the Sears is gone. Have many great memories at this place. The sign says it all, Satisfaction Guaranteed Or Your Money Back. That's one reason they're out of business. I worked in the Auto Center in the 90's. May times people would take advantage of the money back guarantee saying they weren't satisfied with their brake job or alignment and they wanted their money back. Way to go people.
This mall has been going downhill ever since they removed the fountain in the center which completely ruined the ambience. Add to that the fact that there are no video game places left no bookstores and many empty spots recommend against going to this mall.
Just the right size and the right combination of stores and other services. Easy parking, usually close to where you want to go. Great neighborhood mall.
A pretty decent mall, in my opinion. Several major department stores, wide selection of clothing stores, and some specialty shops. I'd like to see more variety, but that's uncommon these days.
It is worth visiting Fair Oaks Mall once in a while for site swing during festive occasions, shopping during discount seasons, Virginia DMV, kids play zone, good number of restaurants and more to explore in the Apple store, Starbucks, mini stalls and the list goes on!
It can be an indoor walking place during the morning hours as I observed a few brisk walkers in a temperature controlled environment!
No customer services! What is up with that? They do not like customers and if you brother them then send security and threaten you. A very sad place to be!
I really like this mall. The crowd levels are never too high and the selection of stores and food is quite exception when compared to the other malls in the DMV area. There is plenty to do with friends and family and there are also seating areas all around which is nice. 5/5
