My amazing and thoughtful fiance Eric B Lowe took me for my birthday all I can say AMEN finally fine dinning amazing staff and the food OMG my new favorite restaurant and major brownie points for my soon to be hubby
THE BEST FOOD IN THE AREA! I had the escargo (first time ever trying it, it was interesting, not bad but probably not something I would order again. I just wanted to mark it off my bucket list) and the duck. The duck was delicious. I want to try their steak the next time I get to go.
Paloma, our server, was awesome!!! Not only was it the vest food we have had in three forevers, she made it even better with her amazing personality, loving service, and beautiful smile! If you are reading this Paloma, thanks for the best dinner ever and we need to borrow your spoon!
Nice table setting. One of the best wine selections I've seen. Pop overs are provided as bread. They were overcooked/almost burnt and served with a Dijon mustard butter that did not pair well. For this I would take away .5 stars if I could. Tenderloin and garlic mashed potatoes are divine. Caesar salad was fantastic. Appetizers consisted of escargot and shrimp. Both were pretty good. The dessert is divine! 5 stars! Tableside bananas foster and creme Suzanne!!!
Great food and service I was at the bar disappointed that Nate the bartender was not there he related to the customers. That is important when you go to a bar and should be considered when hiring
Best dining experience in the area. Excellent food. Excellent service. We took two vacationing friends there who are vegetarian and when there was nothing specifically for them on the menu, we were amazed to hear the server say, "What would you like?" The kitchen prepared a meal for them to order, and it was outstanding. It is a treat to eat at a restaurant where people are passionate about food.
The food is simply amazing. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and made excellent recommendations. This is a great place for a date. Will definitely go back if I am ever in the area again.
It takes a very special place to be considered a dinning experience. The Copper Door is one of those places. Many restaurants have good food but this one is near the top. Celebrating my wife's birthday and our server made her feel very special. Her preparation of Bananas Foster rivaled that of the staff of Brennan's in New Orleans. Thanks Copper Door for very nice evening.
Went there for vale tines day. They had a fixed menu. Good food, but even with 4 courses I still left hungry.. For me not worth the money, as I can go to a bones or a capital grille in Atlanta or j Michael prime and pay less with equal food. Our server was awesome!
The smoked salmon appetizer is always memorable, as well as the escargot. We split a rib-eye steak which was absolutely huge but a bit on the rare side. That's okay because we're taking half of it home with us to do another dinner. Also try the spinach salad. I personally like the bronzed salmon entree as well. The rack of lamb is amazing! Always consistently superb in food and service in Hayesville, NC and NE GA.
Warm elegant atmosphere with beautifully presented and delicious food. Appetizer and salad were great; entrees were expensive $22-$44 with vegetarian, seafood, pastas, and meat choices. Appealing dessert menu tasted delicious.
Wedding catering! We had our wedding in our home in February and Chef Dennis worked with us on a personal menu of our design. It was the most fabulous food-- delicious and beautifully displayed. We were thrilled and our guests still talk about it!
We had the luck of hearing about this amazing establishment from friends and decided to make the 1 hour trip over to try it. We are all so glad we did. Absolutely one of the best dinners that everyone in our party has ever had.
Starting off with perfectly cooked in an amazing sauce escargot, we all used the rolls to soup up the concoction after finishing off the perfectly cooked snails and speaking of rolls they were amazing.
The soup last night was a mushroom concoction that had deep rich flavor
Several of us had Salads and they were good but nothing worth writing about.
Entrees for the evening included - filet mignon with crab topping and baked potato - perfectly cooked Scallops - Crab cake - Oyster shooters - Pork Belly
For dessert we had Banana Foster and something Creme Susan that was amazing.
What were amazed was how not only the entrees were perfectly cooked and seasoned - but each side stood out as amazingly prepared as well.
Service was good - but not great, waiter tried hard but seemed very busy.
This was as close to a perfect dinner if we have ever had one
Bill for 4 people including 7 drinks was $ 260 - well well worth it
The food on the bar menu was varied and delicious. We had mushroom bisque, salad, filet, and chocolate decadence. Thought the add-ons were expensive for the amount served ($6 for 1 scallop) but it was delicious.
Tried 4 course dinner tonight. OMG, the best! Never ordered a pork chop at a restaurant before, but when I saw it was served with morells I had to try. This was the best pork chop I have ever eaten. You could cut with a fork. Husband's fish entree was fantastic. Every course was perfect. Thank you Chef Dennis!
The Copper Door is not "inexpensive", especially for Western Carolina, but it is the best overall restaurant. Great menu, consistently well prepared food, excellent service. Have not found better.
Absolutely wonderfully prepared food (I had seafood bisque and the lamb) in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. Service was immaculate (in my case, provided by Tom). I can think of nothing to make my experience better.
The food is perfect. Fine dining in a relaxing atmosphere, but the dining is truly fine. It is very unsuspecting from the outside. Who would expect a give start level restaurant in this local area. The Chef makes sure every detail in service and food is immaculate. The chicken, what I had the first time U was there is so perfect, the meat falls off of the bone. The seafood is so fresh that you feel as though you are on the coast. I had a wonderful pasta, shrimp, mussel, scallop, dish that was light but filling. Excellent, wine appetizer and staff. I would definitely go back there when in the area.
My crew had two burrito bowls (sweet potato and carnitas), a breakfast burrito, chips and salsa and a mango soda. To have a meal in my house where no one complains is a miracle!! Can't wait to return.
Absolutely incredible from start to finish. It has been said in other reviews that you would not expect to find dining of this caliber in such a setting but it must be experienced to be truly understood. Make the trip and set high expectations. I assure you that they will be met in every way.
Great "high end" restaurant. High end, meaning maybe the most expensive place in Hayesville - but VERY nice all around! Seemingly overstaffed, never waited for water, service and just slight wait for main meal - having gotten reservation at opening. Sign ouside said "Proper Dress Code Required", but they didn't mind us in un-tucked plaid shirts and khakis. Food was AMAZING! Best blackened salmon I've ever had!
This is the best dinning experience my fiance and I have ever had. The food and drinks were wonderful and Amber our server was exceptional! We can't wait to return!
This restaurant is a real gem in the middle of nowhere (apologies to the people of Hayesville but you truly are in the middle of nowhere). The menu includes some items for foodies (such as escargot and foie gras) but also some classic steak dishes, fresh seafood, excellent vegetarian dishes and wonderful desserts. While some dishes have a distinct Louisiana influence, others are just inspired creations of Chef Dennis Barber. There is something for every taste. We had a crawfish crepe and braised pork belly, a grilled caesar salad, and a spinach salad, scallops casino and duck breast, bananas Foster (flambeed table-side, which is always a treat) and a chocolate crepe. All fantastic. The food is well prepared. Service is as top-notch as you would expect in a fine establishment in a big city. The atmosphere is cozy and uncomplicated. Dress code is informal, due to the location in the middle of the mountains and many jean-clad tourists, but some suits and ties can be spotted as well. One recommendation if you plan on wandering through town while awaiting your dinner reservation, everything closes at 5:00 pm or at the latest 5:30. So make your reservation early, or get there just in time for your reservation. There are a couple antique stores in town that are worth the detour, so I suggest you just skip lunch and make your reservation for 5:00 pm...
This restaurant was recommended to us and they were so right! Call for reservation because it's that good. Surprisingly creative menu , beautiful plating skills shine when you see your food placed before you. Decor was cozy and More
One of my favorite restaurants! Which says a lot because I travel extensively for work and eat out a lot! Who would ever think in this sleepy little town of Hayesville you would find a 5 star restaurant! The staff here are outstanding! We had Stephen and he was so much fun. I ve had other servers on other visits and they were all great! The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. I had a couple of shrimp shooters, Caesar salad, a perfectly could cooked Medium Rare filet! And you cannot forget about the desserts which we all shared! I can t wait for my next visit!
This establishment has class. Great dishes for all. Great servers, great atmosphere. Great Chef in the kitchen, great front managers and bar tenders. Dangerously delicious desserts however. Be careful with those. What a surprise nestled in downtown Hayesville NC. A+++..
Delicious! Everything we had was fabulous. The best meal I've had in awhile. We never get dessert but couldn't resist because of how great everything else was. Great service too. Call to make reservations in advance.
Incredible family owned restaurant! Chef Dennis has a terrific staff, with his daughter at the helm. Our meals were perfect, the service fantastic! Im a caterer, my friends own a restaurant and we could not be more pleased with our experience. Brittany was our server, we loved her! Bananas Foster tableside!!!! Old school restaurant management shines!
Place was nice. Food was good. The being hawked by the staff leaning against the side staion in front of the fireplace bothered me immensely. An employee with a white blouse and mustard colored skirt was staring at us. Not fond. Website says collared shirts needed. I'm guessing the hostesses are unaware of this on the website. It should be adheared to. Lights against the fireplace keep turning on and off, then up and down. It was bothersome. The food was delicious, but a bit pricey. Enjoyed ourselves. Needs some work in areas mentioned. Thank you
The food, service, and ambience at The Copper Door rivals most restaurants in Atlanta. Suburbly executed menu, well-trained staff, comfortably elegant atmosphere. Just right in every way.
This is a rare fine dining experience in western North Carolina. The food is excellent and the chef"s specials enhance an already great menu. I highly recommend the filet. It's flavor and tenderness rival any of the renowned steak houses. And you can add lobster, crab or mushrooms for very little. The deserts are a must! I especially like the cream brule and my husband enjoys the bread pudding. The bananas foster is created table side and it is not only an amazing site but oh so delicious! The wait staff is exceptional. Reservations are highly recommended.
Incredibly delicious food and a treat to eat here everytime, but unfortunately, they've changed their menu to a prix fixe price structure which has greatly increased the cost to eat here - on average $70+ per person. Really disappointing they chose to do to the dismal of many diners. But, Paris & Company on the grounds of nearby Crane Creek Vineyards has excellent chef prepared food at at much more reasonable prices (not prix fixe).
This is the best restaurant ever!! The food and service is beyond belief. I try to get there at least once a month. The filet mignon can be cut with a fork and melts in your mouth. I would highly recommend it
