Drinks on the back patio while looking at the ocean really can't beat it as far as a relaxing day or evening at the shore. You can or go downstairs to the boiler room for brick oven pizza and a beer or upstairs to the blue Pig for a nicer dining experience indoors or out. You can also grab a coffee and some small pastries at Tommy Follies. Congress Hall is pretty much a must stop at if you're visiting Cape May.

This hotel was so charming and cute. I stayed for a friend's wedding for two nights during the winter so it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The hotel itself is old but this is what makes it so charming along with the rest of this historical town. The room was nicely sized and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was also pretty big! It sits close to many cute shops and restaurants you can reach by foot. The beach sits just behind the back lot and would be ideal for summer months. It's also very close to Wildwood if you are looking to eat there or check out any other sights.

During my time here I got drinks at the Brown Room and Boiler Room which were both great! Both were so different in vibe and served their purpose with the type of night we wanted to have. The Brown Room fills up quick so get there early! It has more of an upscale, lounge vibe whereas the Boiler Room has a more casual bar type of vibe. I did not eat at any of the restaurants here but definitely wish I had!

Overall, I really enjoyed staying here because it was so different compared to places I usually stay. I loved the charm and character that the hotel had to offer. The location was amazing, reasonably priced and I would definitely stay again!

This is a great wedding venue. It is well kept, clean, and very attractive. Staff is courteous and hard working. Unfortunately, the layout and restroom arrangement impacts functionality quite a bit. If you're attending an event in the main hall you find yourself needing to cross through another area likely to be having its own private event. Then from there you must go downstairs, then meander past the area where staff is handling linens and dishes and other items. Once it feels like you have gone too far, you have arrived at the small restrooms and will probably need to wait in line on a busy summer evening. Just keep this in mind. Many guests attending weddings are dismayed to discover this after having a few drinks. It's unfortunate, and I suppose a quirk of operating out of such an old building.

Loved everything about this place! I got to experience 3 restaurants, The Ebbitt Room, The Blue Pig and The Brown Room. All exceeded my expectations. The spa was a fantastic as well. Traveled solo and felt very safe and catered to. My room was amazing. I will be back for sure.

The Location is wonderful, the Beach is wonderful, the special front lawn activities are great, The Hundred year old historic Hotel is located at the end of a 3 street beach shopping mall, it is the heart of Town. While everything that can be updated has been updated, it still has the charm/quirks of a hundred year old building, it is part of the fun.

I entered the congress hall to check into the sandpiper hotel the rooms were beautiful however if you plan on enjoying yourself and being up past 9 oclock it will be a problem the manager mike was the rudest person ive ever spoken too and kept referencing that we were in cape may as if it were a luxury that me and my family couldnt afford or didnt deserve to be a part of he continued to make false acusations and told us we would have to leave in the morning although my entire family was in bed by 10 oclock we agreed to leave to avoid confrontation however were astounded that on a vacation to let loose and enjoy ourselves we were treated like trash

Save your money. Horrible room. Outdated. Wind came in through windows all night. Kids screaming in hallways. Food way overpriced. For over 350 a night, we expected a way better experience. Won't be back.

Beautifully nostalgic, keeping faithfully to its origins. Employees were exceptional, always ready to help. Breakfast was ok. Beach across street. Village shopping across the street. Beds look like they're comfortable, but they're not. Doors are things, but guests are respectful. Family friendly, however, most children there were calm and quiet (except mine). Over all, very nice.

Old hotel with some charm, but they mostly ride on their name. Typical South Jersey "take it or leave it" attitude at the front desk. I've stayed there quite and they won't budge on their 21 cancellation policy, even in the dead of winter. I would like to give them more stars, but the service is really lacking for the type of hotel they think they are.

I stayed there with my girlfriend in June, while everything was pretty shutdown due to COVID-19. The staff was phenomenal and the grounds were immaculate. I had never stayed there before, but visited briefly back in 2007. My expectations were high, simply because everyone always talks about how great Congress Hall is and I had a very positive experience there over a decade ago. Not only were my expectations met, but they were far exceeded. A big shout-out to the staff, who made everything feel comfortable, safe, and professional during a very difficult time. I'll be booking another stay there this fall!

I stay every September and just love this hotel! Great rooms with quirkiness like, uneven floors, thin walls and even their tubs are great! They give you ear plugs in the night stand! How cute it this! You know going in all about these special things and I think it makes a 200 year old hotel! If you want a massage you need to see Stephanie in the Sea Spa!! Pool and beach service are fun and great!! Some of the best service I have received was from the valet! First and last impressions as you arrive and depart Congress Hall & they are fantastic! I loved the pillows so much I bought some!! This historical hotel is so just perfect!

Didn't stay here, but did spend time in the lounge, gift shop and enjoyed the rockers out front. There is a tour available. If you visit Cape May take the time to see this grand historic hotel.

I went to Congress Hall in Cape May to check out the restaurant. I decided not to eat there because the prices were out of my price range. The hotel lobby is absolutely gorgeous and well maintained and the staff is friendly. There are very nice souvenir shops inside (closed at the time of my arrival).

I bring my family here every year. Absolutely wonderful Christmas experience. The rooms are awsome, they are big old school hotel type rooms with big windows that let a ton of sun light in. Just to give an idea of how they kept the history, you still get an actual metal key for your door. The Christmas atmosphere is great, they have a big beautiful tree in the back. There is a merry go round and a Choo Choo train for the kiddies. Really cozy bar inside with fire place, the martinis are fantastic. You must go if you want a couple of getaway days around the holidays.

We stayed here for our babymoon and couldn t have picked a better destination. It was incredibly relaxing and the location was perfect. They have so many dining options you really barely need to leave the resort. We attended in mid to early May and I think they were just getting things up and running for the season so the pool wasn t the cleanest at first but they eventually got it skimmed. The beach chairs and umbrellas are awesome and the whole resort feels like stepping back in time...in a good way. We really enjoyed the history tour as well.

I love this hotel. We come every year and it s amazing. Only complaint is the rude waitress in the brown bar room. Didn t take our order after walking by us 3 times and then told me to rudely move out of the way, so I moved not wanting to get in the way of her work, and then she gave me a blank stare and looked at me like I killed her first born and rudely asked me to move again, when at that point i was NOT in her way at all. Again, this hotel is a highlight of my year every year, but that nasty lady has to go. I come here with my family and another family every year, and have never been treated so awfully by anyone in my life. Sad.

Amazing breakfast to start the day. The healthy acai bowl, classic eggs Benedict, and hearty cast iron skillet are must have. Service during COVID was exactly on point. Nothing beats this place for start of the day on the beach

I stayed at Congress Hall for a night back in April 2016. I was there for a conference in Cape May and conveniently booked this location by the shore. Because of the conference I didn't have much time to enjoy the beach. That said, I was pleasantly pleased with my experience, stay, the friendly staff, parking, and quick location to the shore. Next time, I'll have to bring the family! Again, I has there in April and I have no idea what parking is like in the summer, but, they have reserved parking, so, doubt it's a problem.

Grand hotel, just love all the American flags flying, spacious, clean rooms and super comfortable beds. The Blue Pig Restaurant within the hotel serves up excellent food, shopping is literally across the street and the beach is a block away. Doesn t get much better then this.

We have been enjoying Congress Hall for over 7 years. This will be our last stay. Last weekend, we were enjoying my wife's birthday by spending a few days relaxing at Congress Hall. Unfortunately, on our last night, they let 2 very drunk girls into our room! The girls claimed it was their room, so the desk clerk used his/her passkey to let them into our room at 1:23 am. It was all very confusing with them going about the room turning on all the lights claiming this room was theirs and what were we doing there. In their condition they had a difficult time attempting to exit after we reasoned with them to leave. Needless to say we were extremely upset. My wife had to led them out of the room ( I have a disablility) while I called the desk asking for an explaination on what just happened. Our sleep was ruined that night thinking what could have happened. The next morning we were eating a very nice breakfast. When the waitress asked about our stay we told her about our experience. She notified the manager on Duty who came over and apologized telling us our breakfast was on them. We purchased the breakfast plan so it was mostly covered.
. My wife's glasses were missing from our room in the morning but thankfully were "turned in" later that morning and mailed to us.We have not heard from them since which disturbs us greatly. We felt the staff did not share our opinion of the gravity of the situation. We were put in a potentially very dangerous circumstance. Extremely upset over the whole matter. What started a a restful getaway ended up the complete opposite.
I'm very pleased to update my recent review, while we still have less then fond memories of our evening our greatest problem was being left with the thoughts that Congress Hall had no concern for the gravity of the situation. I'm pleased to share that apparently was not the case. Today we were contacted by Management who conducted a complete evaluation of the matter and took full responsibility and are taking steps to make certain a problem like this will not happen again. We are very pleaded with their reaction. We plan now on a return visit in the future.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, the staff especially the valet were not friendly at all, the bartender on back patio was not friendly and has no personality at all the bartender hosts did not serve us once we called for her numerous times, I tried to call room service over 10 times no one would answer the phone the front desk told me they would send someone over to have them call me and never did, just not what I am used to and one of more expensive ones I stayed at was not able to get into the bar from crowded parties the maid came one time during a three night stay I had to ask for towels and Menus and then they never responded I am sure 95% didn't speak or understand what I was even asking for not a good retreat.

Absolutely lovely. Beautifully decorated, great service, and good food. The location is excellent. Near other restaurants, bars, and shops. The facility harkens back to a time gone by in all the best ways!
