We stayed at Congress Hall in late March 2017 for the Ocean Drive Marathon. It was such a wonderful experience we returned again this past weekend. Another perfect overnight. Friendly staff. Awesome rooms with a historic feel. Clean. Comfortable beds. Complimentary valet parking. Just booked a stay for our anniversary later in the year.

We booked it at the last minute and I wasn t sure what the room would be like. We just wanted a King sized bed and some sort of view. We were pleasantly surprised at what we were given!

The room was tucked away in an alcove of sorts that had 2 rooms. We had a great, full view of the ocean and a view of Carpenter s Square Mall.

The property was spotless! They wiped the dew off ALL the chairs in the morning and they were even touching up the paint in the lobby.

The Boiler Room and Brown Room had great music and a pleasant atmosphere. Blue Pig Tavern was a very good option for breakfast and Tommy s Folly Cafe had great coffee!

The staff is wonderful. I appreciate all they do to ensure the guests have a great experience. It was nice feeling pampered but not spoiled. They give you space but are around if you need anything.

Thank you very much for keeping this place up the way you do. It has such a cool look to it and the old pictures (and artifacts of the past) really help one understand the history of Congress Hall.

Two suggestions:
Please let guests know when you ll be flushing the lines. The water got very yellow without warning. I m sure it was safe but if you were showering or brushing your teeth it would be an unexpected occurance.

Please work on the cable. It was very fuzzy. Not a huge deal at all but sometimes you want to relax a bit and catch up on the news before going back out and the reception was awful.

Overall it was top notch and we absolutely will be back.

This hotel was just OK. The rooms were very old and the service was terrible. The rooms are very noisy. On Saturday in the heart of the summer during check in and check out, there were two people working in valet. For $700 per night, they should think about training their staff a little bit better for customer service.

It's worth noting, I didn't actually stay here. My review is entirely based our experience there. We visited the grounds for the start of the holiday season.

Well kept grounds with friendly staff. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and can probably be better appreciated in the evening or at night. We spent the morning there to get some holiday photos and enjoy the grounds.

Will definitely return to spend some time in Cape May and will hopefully get to stay here.

Was there for a wedding a few weeks ago. Didn't stay in the rooms (3 night min and too expensive) but it's a beautiful property. It was a pain going to the bathroom had to share it with everyone. Two bars the wedding plus the people just going through the lobby.

Beautifully restored historic hotel directly across from the beach. Customer service varied greatly with some excellent staff making our stay truly memorable to others who didn't seem the right fit for the hospitality field.

WiFi worked well and parking was free. We loved the pool and the Brown Room (bar/lounge). Fantastic bartender. Delicious cocktails in an amazing setting. We did not try The Blue Pig (maybe next time). Breakfast is only an additional $15/pp but we went out instead.

No in-room coffee maker, tea kettle or mini-fridge (we were told at check-out fridges can be requested). Very nice robes, toiletries, bed and bath linens. Big wonderful tubs.

I stayed many times in the 80's and 90's when the property had gotten shabby. Now that it's shabby chic and definitely more chic the rates have tripled in 18 years.

CH is still as lovely, charming and interesting as ever. It was amazing to recall how it was before and compare to Congress Hall's glorious restoration. A real American treasure.

I love this place because it looks different from all the ugly, cookie cutter hotels. It is interesting. The rooms are big. Things are old and interesting, yet everything accommodates. This is my happy place

Congress Hall is the ultimate "can't do enough for you" resort. We have been going since renovations(25million!) were completed 15yrs ago. Each year the service of staff/restaurant/spa continually gets fine-tuned! We look forward to each visit.

Danced to the best band - the Smooth Edge Band - out of Philly! Never stopped to their funk!!! After an entire season in Cape May, working for room & board (and, of course, the beach), penniless pockets prevented my stepping out (ten bucks for a Chardonnay?!? I mean)....

During my earlier stroll through the very very historical, extremely well appointed and tastefully decorated wayyy wayyy pricey Congress Hall, I entered The Boiler Room, and noted - joyously - that the guys setting up included not one white guy. Lock and load - home to change to better shoes.

When the show ended, what followed was a chance meeting with an interesting individual on the outside steps to The Boiler Room.

The relate to that.

My wife and I decided to take a trip to Cape May for the weekend and got a great deal the weekend before Easter. The rooms are stunning. The staff is absolutely top notch. And the grounds are super relaxing and nice. Added bonus, the best restaurant, spa, and bar are in the hotel! Would recommend staying here to anyone planning a trip to Cape May.

We stopped in at Congress Hall while we were staying in Cape May. Absolutely gorgeous building and grounds, lovely documentation of the history of the building, adorable little shops (though pricey). We had other plans for drinks and dinner but would love to revisit this beautiful historic spot.

Beautiful property with all of the amenities. I give it 4 stars instead of 5, because the wait in the restaurant is far too long once seated and the attentiveness of the staff is lacking (no water refills, too long to take order, long wait for food, too long to get bill etc). Spent an hour more than necessary just in waiting time. The rooms are adorable and the location is amazing! Highly recommend I would suggest going off property for dining.

This was a beautiful location. The blue pig restaurant was great for both dinner and breakfast. The brown room was a great night time spot as well. Being right on the beach we could just walk out to the water at any random time of the day during our stay.

I'm really disappointed with the price gouging that is going on this year.

We have been coming to Congress Hall since the renovations many many years ago. We were regulars throughout the year. Staying almost every other month even on off seasons. I've never had a complaint until this year when I went to book the King Ocean front with a balcony which is what we mostly book with all of our stays. We tried to book our 2nd week in September. I was shocked to see a room of a lesser value was almost double the price of the ocean front balcony room. I tried other dates all the way up to the first week in October and the price was still ridiculous. I don't mind spending money but this is just throwing it away. I think it's the end of some of my fondest memories here since they've seem to have outpriced themselves. Really sad to see this.

I found a scratch on the side of my car, which was valet-parked overnight, so definitely not ideal. That incident ruined our holiday and we ended up leaving a day early as a result. Also the room (presidential suite, for that matter) was so-so and not worth the price.

On the plus side, the manager was responsive and refunded us fully for the night we skipped, even though it wasn t refundable, and also paid for partly repairing the scratch.

3 stars on balance.

This was our second year attending Congress Hall's Winter Wonderland event as a family. The grounds are clean, the staff is friendly and there is a lot to do and see for the whole family. The carousel and train rides are reasonably priced and storytime with Mrs. Claus are fun and free.

I love the history of Cape May and Congress Hall, but I find myself getting more and more disappointed with the place every year. We tried the gingerbread house decorating activity. The room was not decorated, we sat in a half empty banquet hall, the experience was not magical at all. Next day we gave it another try and had breakfast with Santa. The food was horrible, honestly comparable to motel food. Quality was poor from eggs to bacon to orange juice. This might of been the last time for us at Congers Hall after many years. More of a tourist trap now for sure.

The perfect destination for a mid Winter getaway. It s becoming a yearly thing for us. We love being here in Summer, but so enjoy the relative tranquility of Winter. It s wonderful for us because we don t have to leave the hotel at all...with 2 restaurants, a coffee shop for a quick bite, a bar for a fireside cocktail, and a nice, if small, spa...we just show up, valet the car and stay in! I even enjoy my morning coffee alla loungewear by the lobby fireplace.

The Congress Hall is one of the best places we've every stayed at. This 200 year old gem has everything. From amazing beaches and beach service to amazing entertainment. But the best part of this fantastic hotel are the people that work there. We were treated like royalty. We've already booked for next year!

Was perfectly located and the room was very clean. My only suggestion would be provide coffee somewhere prior to 7am when you can purchase it in the coffee shop. Also the valet workers and a man in the evening who stood there blocking the main doors need to be much friendlier since they are the first face you see.

A huge, historic hotel on the oceanfront. I can't speak to the quality of the hotel, but Congress Hall is a neat place to visit, walk through, and stop for an evening drink or two in the bar.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. We did have a very uneven floor in our room which was a minor problem for our 1yo. Also, there were a few stains on our sheets.

You can beat the location. Right in the center of town. Also, The Blue Pig Tavern is top notch. We had breakfast and dinner there, and both were very good.

I will stay at Congress Hall again. I recommend it if you want an accommodating room at a fair price.
