My son had to leave early due to illness. Later, I called to have the floor monitor gather his work clothes from the locker room. She refused because it was the boys locker room. So, my son, who was still nauseated, had to go down to get them himself, all because some girl didn't want to get off her chair and actually do some customer service.
Not to mention the prices to be a member are so high.

Clean facility with lots of equipment and outstanding pools. They are a bit high on the monthly fees, but get a lot for it such as free classes. Honestly, it's the best Y in the state- not too big and not too small. Plenty of free parking. Good people. Check it out!

Very nice, clean facility. Marshalltown is lucky to have such a great gym/community center. The layout isn t very intuitive, which is honestly the worst thing I can say about the place after my first visit.

The gym has the amenities of a college facility, like State Gym in Ames. I love that there s both a sauna AND steam room. I m glad we finally got around to getting a membership here!

I called at the end of August because I had to have a surgical procedure and asked if I could have my membership put on hold just for the month of September. I was told it was no problem that they had taken care of it and then the full amount was pulled out of my account. I called to ask what was happening and why it didn't get fixed and immediately the person who answered the phone stated "Well I can just cancel your membership then," in a very rude voice. I was so surprised with how rude they were that I just canceled my membership. I would think professionalism is something that a business would strive for. I agree they do have nice equipment and the instructors for the aquatics are great. The membership is pretty expensive... It's more expensive than getting a membership at Prairie Ridge in Ankeny (They have aquatics as well).

Me and my family come here every weekend to swim together in the rec pool. It's always fun, but the slide is NEVER available to use. There's always 5 to 6 lifegurads- but they refuse to open the slide when we ask. A few of the women lifeguards are straight up rude. Also. When there are pool breaks, I always see older adults able to continue to swim during the breaks... but today when I tried to stay and swim laps while they took a break (I'm 30 btw)- I was told to get out. You cannot pick and choose favorites. It's not fair to say this adult can conitue to swim during our 10 minute break, but not this one. Also, you cant say, "this 10 uear old can jump off of the edge of the pool- but not the 7 year old"
All of the women lifegurads have their own set of rules. And they should be nicer to The guests there. The lifeguards need better training. And they need to keep the Water slide open at all times. It costs a lot of money to be a member here, not to mention the people who pay for day passes to swim... we should be able to go on the slide whenever we want. Not just when it's convenient for the teenage lifeguards.
