Comfort Suites, Oshkosh, WI Review

Could not have been more happy with our stay at Comfort Suites we were unable to make reservations in advance as we were leaving another local hotel due to an issue. Zach was great about getting us into a room quickly. We were more than pleased with the size of the room. Our beds were comfortable, and the pull out couch made going from two rooms elsewhere to one room at Comfort easy!

Breakfast offered sufficient selection, and the staff were all friendly.

The management even offered a discount because of the ordeal we had experienced elsewhere. They truly went above and beyond and has made a loyal Choice Hotels customer out of me.

I booked and paid this hotel for a 4-night stay online before arriving. When we arrived the room had exposed tack strip and nails showing from the carpet. We were told it was the last room like that available and that the maintenance man would repair it. He mentioned that he could put duct tape over it....so we settled. The pool was cold and the hot tub was luke warm. We weren't offered the military discount as advertised either. Definitely not worth $150 per night. We were not impressed!

Great room. Had a Jaccuzi within the room. Very clean, very nice. Great room. Hope you're able to enjoy the same room.

Everything exceeded my expectations. For a last minute booking in a small Midwestern town, the hotel was thoughtful, very comfortable and had ample room. It was a great value and I'd gladly stay again.

Its was a great experience. Also the breakfast was really good.

The beds are amazing! After a busy day I was exhausted. I slept for over 7 hours straight. The room was clean and comfortable. Weren't disturbed by outside noise or other guests. Haven't tried breakfast, didn't use the pool. Price was great compared to other places.

This hotel is nice on outside but not even close to hotel staff being nice. Ladys were rude, gave other people late check outs but said we werent choice privilege members (Which we are) front desk AMBER is very rude and cussed at us upon leaving. Never go here again. Ugly people with ugly attitudes. Comb your hair and look presentable not skanky. There was ants by the pool area. This was disgusting. Cold breakfast. There was actually hair in the donuts. Staff was cussing in the breakfast room. Omg! Go here only if u want to be treated like crap! I wouldn't even want my dog staying here. The girl at front desk thinks shes hott stuff. News flash no your not!!

Very Sad to say, I just had 2 horrible nights stay. . I wasn't able sleep. Very loud &noisy place that smells of pot. I asked to change rooms and that room was bad. Nasty . bed was uncomfortable. Sheets dirty. Sheets smelled like body odor. I am very dissapointed.

Very clean and comfortable! Enjoyed our stay although was very disappointed because the website offered a pool and hot tub but neither were available I figured if the pool was shut down due to covid or whatever then they would have taken it off the menu instead of using that attraction to draw customers. The room itself was nice enough to make up for the disappointment tho.....Fridge, microwave, coffeepot huge TV with great options, shower with HOT water was really nice. We've stayed at hotels before that didn't have hot showers so Comfort Suites was definitely worth the money in many ways and would stay again!

Room was plenty spacious, all cell phones and tablets could charge at the same time, continental breakfast was nice as well. TV was impressive for watching the big game.

Good location, friendly staff,. Heater in the room was very noisy. Fixed it the next day and reduced rate for the stay. Very fair.

Stayed here during Country USA, super nice rooms. Very clean, very friendly staff who checked us in. The cleaning staff knew we were in the room so she checked in to see if we needed anything which was sweet! Breakfast was fairly decent as well. Super close to nice restaraunts and shopping! Had a shuttle to take us to wherever we needed as well which was nice.

The owner Pat was very rude and treated me like I was lying to him, when it was his staff that forgot to check me out of my room. I had to leave early from a 2 week stay. Will not return to this hotel if that is the way this man treats customers. There were no females in my room after I checked out. The only female that was with me was my wife and she left with me. I checked out after I got back from work that night around 5 pm and had no choice but to check out at this time. If money had to be charged for that day I would have understood.

Our favorite hotel in Wisconsin to stay at. We traveled up here for a Packers game and stayed Saturday night and Sunday night. Rooms are great and spacious for a good price. Breakfast was variable and delicious. We will definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at many Choice Hotels the past few years and have always had a wonderful experience. However, the stay in your Oshkosh location was miserable for myself and my family. When I phoned to confirm, I was advised all things, including the pool were good to go. However, upon arrival, the hot tub was closed. This was not much of an issue as we were still able to use the pool for my family. Upon further inspection of the room, there was mildew on the shower curtain and crumbs all over the main room flooring and was disgusting. When we went to use the pool Sunday morning we were advised that the pool itself was shut down as a guest had defecated in it. We were advised that the children s pool was open but we were to swim at our own risk due to the filtration system. I am not sure if it s common practice to allow since the filtration system is shared this but it was appalling. One pool was closed but its ok for the other one since the defecation would be filtered into that one????

Upon check out we were advised that our room cost would be refunded for issues and inconvenience. We had paid in cash and the girl at the front desk was not authorized to issue a cash refund, as that is how we paid, , she stated that she was able to return the money to my card per her manager. Rather than returning the money, she charged my card again, for $112.50 on June 4th at around 11:45 am so now rather getting our original $112.50 back, the hotel had $225 of our money for a miserable stay. We were advised that the manager would be in at 3pm and to phone her. My husband phoned at 3pm and was treated very rudely by the staff member since he could not provide the name of the party we checked out with (as none of the staff we saw had name tags on) and told it was not her problem and to call Monday. Upon phoning Monday June 5th, I was advised that the faulty charge was being returned and was on June 6th. So that leaves the initial promised money of $112.50 that we were still waiting on. I looked at my bank account today and there was ANOTHER charge for $110.40 by WI171!!!!!!!! So now, we are out another $110.40 AND $112.50!!!! When I phoned at 7am on Wednesday morning and spoke with the manager Shakira, she assured me that it was handled on her end and it could be another 7-10 days for the money to be returned???? She was unsure why there was another charge. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

I than left a message for one of theirCorporate Executives Ann Smith, to which I heard no response and then waited on hold for almost 45 minutes to speak with a member of your customer service team, Steve. He advised me that since you paid cash you need to return to the hotel to get cash back. Why should I make a trip two hours for money when this is NOT what we were told by the manager. He then phoned the Oshkosh location to make sure my story was accurate and was advised the Manager that both the $110.40 and the original $112.50 were returned to our card (however, I am sure to see another charge as all I have heard is lies) but it would take another 3-5 business days. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ANY RATE! Why do I have to wait for our money to be returned that long, when it was admitted to be the error of THEIR staff. Their staffs sense of urgency lacks, there is zero follow up and their incompetence is astounding. Our stay was miserable and now we have to wait at least another 3-5 days for a full return of money for an error Their staff made????? The total deductions from my account are over $300 at this point!!!! This is complete thievery on their staffs part and appalling. To date we have only received one return of $112.50 for the fault of the charge on our card, and are STILL waiting on the initial room refund of $112.50 and the $110.40 charge of today!!!!!! I have the receipt in hand to prove the wrong doing as well! I have been dealing with this almost non-stop since Sunday!

Clean beds and the customer representatives were super helpful.

Stayed one night. Comfortable bed. Nice big room. View nor so good but that was because we booked last minute on a Saturday night. What was fantastic about the staff is that they did everything they could to get us that room when so many other hotels were booked (July 4th weekend). They let us know that it was a room that was not totally ready but did an awesome job getting it ready for us!

AMBER is not a nice person and really shouldn't be working the front desk. Completely rude!

Staff is great could be biased because my daughter in law works here but she works very hard and loves her job.

This hotel had a lot of potential to be perfect but unfortunately we were let down. I will start with the positives. The rooms were clean, and very large. Stayed in a king bed whirlpool suite. The in room whirlpool was fantastic, fit for 2. There s lots of complaints of the hotel recently taking away their hot tub, but if you have one of these whirlpools in the room the public hot tub is not necessary at all. The bathroom is spacious with a two headed shower. However if you want a peaceful night sleep go anywhere else. The beds were comfortable, however ours was right next to the LOUDEST heating unit ever. We had to shut off the heat simply for how loud it was. Even when switched off the unit kicks on at night every few minutes disturbing both my sleep and my partner. It was easily one of the worst night sleeps we ve ever had, as we were abruptly woken up every 10-30 minutes all night long. On top of that other guests could be heard in the hallway and the few occasions that the unit shut off, we could hear the neighbors TV the entire night. Other annoying aspects were that the key cards kept not working for the room. Very disappointing to have a relaxing and romantic evening ruined but a God awful night sleep. Would have loved to give this place 5 stars as it seemed very pleasing from the start. But this place falls short of perfection in the details.

Super clean and the staff is very friendly, the breakfast was delicious and you have restaurants near.

Was a good stay only wish we could have checked in a little earlier since we were in a wedding room block and needed to be somewhere before 3pm.

The room was great. The staff were so friendly and kind. My 3 year old loved the kids area in the pool.

Whirlpool in our room was lovely, although a couple jets didn't work very well. Very clean, compared to area competition. Good rates, but can be tough to get a room if there's any kind of event in town

Perfect location, walking distance from restaurants, right next to the highway so ease of access. The rooms are ample size, and it's very classy

Room was decently sized. Hot tub was advertised online but when I arrived it was filled in with concrete. So NO HOT TUB

Every part was trashed in our room. We kept finding garbage that was left out on the open like soda bottles and even allergy pills.. The shower kept clogging and shower curtians had black and brown smudges on them, along with parts of the sheets, and the walls had splatters of god knows what (vomit I'm assuming) everywhere. Even the wallapaper was tearing towards the ceiling. Would not recommend staying here.

The room we got was extremely clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They also accept pets.

Beautiful rooms! There were 3 parties & they got us all within feet of each other. Two of us were neighbors!

I highly recommend the comfort suites because it really is very very comfortable. It almost felt like a home away from home. I am very particular and have no complaints at all.

I just LOVE this hotel! Close to a variety of restaurants and the outlet malls are terrific for shopping. Close to the EAA as well. The rooms were perfect, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were hot and yummy. We enjoyed the pool and spa area as well. I had a wonderful experience from check in to check out!!

No major complaints. The refrigerator wasn't on and didn't get cold quickly enough to keep our drinks cold. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant.

The desk manager was very helpful and most of the facility was well maintained but they should have it on their Web site that they filled in the hot tub!

Friendly staff, clean room, and a great hot breakfast!

The whole drive up we were looking forward to soaking in the hot tub. When we arrived at the pool we were so sad to find the hot tub had been filled with cement! We stayed at the pool anyways to enjoy some time with family. After changing a toddlers clothes on a chair in the pool area we noticed black residue all over her skin which was gross. If that wasn t enough, she broke out in a rash overnight where the residue was on her skin! On our way to the pool, there was a disturbance in the lobby that required police intervention. The night staff handled the situation well but if your looking for a quiet stay this isn t the place for you. We were woken up in the middle of the night to screaming and running around the floor. We decided not to spend our second night and when we spoke to Patrick, the general manager, rather than apologizing for the inconvenience he explained hotel policy to us. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable, hence two stars rather than one. Breakfast was a let down. The eggs tasted like water and the potatoes immediately made my mouth dry!

Was very impressed by this hotel. The manager (Wendy) is doing an excellent job. I will be coming back here again.

It was pretty good, wen't for freinds party, good time. We got 2 house complaints so dont be to loud or, you out on the street. Pool okey the got rid of the hot tube which sucks because I've made trips and the past and that's one of the best part. The rooms are Okey there a pull out couch which some else slept on, the beds are pretty comfy. Breakfast was really good, coffee was just okey I had better. Over all pretty good hotel.

Good luck if the front desk answers the phone once you arrive. Room had dried spit in bathroom sink from former guests, trim in the room was missing, broken toilet seat that prevented you from sitting on it, microwave timer broken, room dusty and not clean overall. Also key cards kept on losing authorization to the room, which meant you had to go downstairs and get them magnetized over and over to get in. Some towels had stains as well.

Was visiting relatives who were staying at Comfort Suites. They've stayed there twice before and have always had good experiences. The front desk staff was very accomodating, getting the breakfast/conference room opened and lit up so we could converse comfortably. The staff is always friendly and willing to spare a moment to take a photo or two.

Once again, after a few years where it was not too bad - UNBEARABLE chlorine in the pool and spa. Burns eyes and skin. One kid was even vomiting. Other than that, rooms fine. Service so-so.
UPDATE: 3/2019 - Hot tub gone. Pool had chlorine so heavy that kids were choking and coughing. 3 kids broke out in hives. Swimsuits were noticeably bleached. Talked to management who responded that the pool chlorine levels were fine - apparently we all had mass hysteria. Even sitting on the edge of the pool was impossible for more than 15-20 minutes before our eyes were burning.
Very disappointing. Also the place is getting a little run-down. Noticeable problems with paint, dirt in the corners, etc.
We will find somewhere else next year.

Terrible desk staff!!!! Called 4/10, talked to a new employee who was unsure what to do for a large group reservation (needed 14 rooms for 2 nights) so told me a manager would call or email. Heard nothing so called again 4/11 talked to Kayla who transferred me to manager Craig who was unsure so said a different manager, Wendy, would call or definitely email me. Heard nothing so called again 4/12 talked to Nora who also said Wendy would call or email. Again heard nothing so called 4/17 and talked to Kayla again who said Wendy would be calling me. As of today 4/18 still have not heard anything. Every time I called the person I talked to, took all my information, #rooms, email, phone numbers, date of arrival so somewhere within the facility are a lot of notes with my info but AGAIN, NO CALL BAXK FROM ANYONE!!!! For a hospitality service, there sure was not much hospitality!!!! Don't even know if 1 is justified but Kayla and Nora were at least apologetic!

I've stayed here a few times, but this last time when I checked in to my room there was food in the refrigerator from the last people that stayed there. That freaked me out, I mean, were my sheets changed? The bathroom cleaned? It really had a high disgusting factor. They never offered to "re-clean" my room, they never offered another room. In fact the front desk told me to throw the food out myself if it was an issue. To make matters worse, when I checked out they charged me double upon check out. I did not find this out until I went to pay my credit card bill. I'm still trying to get this resolved. I have made three phone calls to management, they have not called me back once. Apparently they don't care. My organization utilizes this hotel quite often, usually 8 to 10 of us every couple of weeks. I hope that we will stop. I have reported my issues to my organization and have heard of other similar issues. So I think we will take our business elsewhere. I highly recommend NOT staying here. There are so many other options. Stay downtown. I have had a way better stay at the Best Western downtown, yes, you read that correctly, the Best Western. The Best Western is beautiful downtown. Regardless, enjoy Oshkosh, it's a beautiful city! I hate writing reviews like this, but this is on you Comfort Suites Management. Thanks for making my stay pretty disgusting with no resolution, then weeks thereafter pretty horrendous trying to fix your mistakes in double charging me. I'm sure I'll be back, but not by choice. If you are traveling and have a choice where to stay, there are better options.

Took a few tries to get a room that was actually clean but once they got me a room was comfortable. But giveing me a card 4 separate times before finally getting it right kinda sucked.

Last night on jan/1/2020 I Received a email saying my reservation was canceled because I didn't have the money on my card. I don't understand why he ran my card 3 days ahead of time. I've never had to pay until check in. When I call to ask why they claim in order to get the price listed in the choice member App it needed to be paid ahead. The app and the hotel customers service says that's not how it works. I fell like Patrick is scamming customers

On edges of hallways and rooms dust is noticable. I left a cellphone charger and I call as soon as I got home that I left it in room that they could get it before it was rented out for the night and they didn't get it. I live 3 hours away. So I guess somebody has happy fingers. I don't trust the staff.

My wife and I were traveling on a business trip and needed a room for the night on 8/9/2019. We pulled into the Comfort Suites in Oshkosh after checking online and seeing three rooms available. The young lady at the front desk quickly glanced at her screen and said no rooms were available at that time. When I returned to my vehicle I checked my phone and saw three rooms available and reserved one.

I went back to the desk and told her I was able to reserve a room. She said the system should not have been able to do that as the only room available was dirty. I didn t tell her the website had three rooms available. I asked to see the dirty room since I had a reservation.

She took us to a room that was prepared for guests and seemed (or acted) surprised the room was ready. I don t know if she was lazy, uninformed, or just trying to prevent my wife and I from getting a room. I feel this needs correction. We got our room that evening but only after shaming the clerk into doing her job.

Easy to find, decent sized room for a class with 33 people in it.
