I have stayed at many Choice Hotels the past few years and have always had a wonderful experience. However, the stay in your Oshkosh location was miserable for myself and my family. When I phoned to confirm, I was advised all things, including the pool were good to go. However, upon arrival, the hot tub was closed. This was not much of an issue as we were still able to use the pool for my family. Upon further inspection of the room, there was mildew on the shower curtain and crumbs all over the main room flooring and was disgusting. When we went to use the pool Sunday morning we were advised that the pool itself was shut down as a guest had defecated in it. We were advised that the children s pool was open but we were to swim at our own risk due to the filtration system. I am not sure if it s common practice to allow since the filtration system is shared this but it was appalling. One pool was closed but its ok for the other one since the defecation would be filtered into that one????
Upon check out we were advised that our room cost would be refunded for issues and inconvenience. We had paid in cash and the girl at the front desk was not authorized to issue a cash refund, as that is how we paid, , she stated that she was able to return the money to my card per her manager. Rather than returning the money, she charged my card again, for $112.50 on June 4th at around 11:45 am so now rather getting our original $112.50 back, the hotel had $225 of our money for a miserable stay. We were advised that the manager would be in at 3pm and to phone her. My husband phoned at 3pm and was treated very rudely by the staff member since he could not provide the name of the party we checked out with (as none of the staff we saw had name tags on) and told it was not her problem and to call Monday. Upon phoning Monday June 5th, I was advised that the faulty charge was being returned and was on June 6th. So that leaves the initial promised money of $112.50 that we were still waiting on. I looked at my bank account today and there was ANOTHER charge for $110.40 by WI171!!!!!!!! So now, we are out another $110.40 AND $112.50!!!! When I phoned at 7am on Wednesday morning and spoke with the manager Shakira, she assured me that it was handled on her end and it could be another 7-10 days for the money to be returned???? She was unsure why there was another charge. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
I than left a message for one of theirCorporate Executives Ann Smith, to which I heard no response and then waited on hold for almost 45 minutes to speak with a member of your customer service team, Steve. He advised me that since you paid cash you need to return to the hotel to get cash back. Why should I make a trip two hours for money when this is NOT what we were told by the manager. He then phoned the Oshkosh location to make sure my story was accurate and was advised the Manager that both the $110.40 and the original $112.50 were returned to our card (however, I am sure to see another charge as all I have heard is lies) but it would take another 3-5 business days. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ANY RATE! Why do I have to wait for our money to be returned that long, when it was admitted to be the error of THEIR staff. Their staffs sense of urgency lacks, there is zero follow up and their incompetence is astounding. Our stay was miserable and now we have to wait at least another 3-5 days for a full return of money for an error Their staff made????? The total deductions from my account are over $300 at this point!!!! This is complete thievery on their staffs part and appalling. To date we have only received one return of $112.50 for the fault of the charge on our card, and are STILL waiting on the initial room refund of $112.50 and the $110.40 charge of today!!!!!! I have the receipt in hand to prove the wrong doing as well! I have been dealing with this almost non-stop since Sunday!
