I called on Easter Sunday to leave a message and was called back by a service technician immediately. He was able to troubleshoot our problem and we were back online right away. He was extremely polite even though his holiday was interrupted. I definitely recommend Comelec.
Downloads will slow down as they go on, so the 20-30min download becomes a 2hr download.
they have never, ever given us the internet speed we pay for. it is always extremely slow. the last couple days we have had 0.51 MEGABITS. that is ridicoulous. definity furiated by this horrible company
I own and operate a strange internet business. I have a number of internet streaming "radio" stations. When they work correctly, they make money. I also support broadcast services. Needless to say I need PERFECT internet. I was about to take my company OUT of Iowa because internet sucks here, UNTIL NOW! Comelec saved my business and prevented me from moving the entire operation out of Iowa. We were using MediaCrap, they were always down. Elected officials do nothing about the poor service provided by MediaCrap and it's related companies because MediaCrap and it's companies line the pockets of Iowa politicians. Comelec is a rare company! They actually provide quick, honest, knowledgeable and responsive service. I have the business fiber and I could not be happier. If I have a problem I call a number and within a minute or two a technician calls me back. I had a question, I repeat a question at 3 am and some poor bloke actually called me back. I should have bought him a case of beer! Comelec contacts me by email if they expect a "down" period. That allows me to contact the network and prepare them so I do not lose money. MediaCrap would just disappear and then resurface hours later. If you need SERIOUS INTERNET WITHOUT INTERRUPTIONS, THIS IS THE COMPANY FOR YOU! Do not waste your time with MediaCrap, PissStream, Crime-Warner and Chartless cable internet. The "present" has arrived in Northeastern Iowa. Don't live in 1998. It's time to dump cable and stop trying to use outdated internet systems to surf and work. Think of the time and money you and I wasted. Thank you Comelec, I'm making money and paying bills again!

I would give 5 stars I could receive a fiber optic/DSL for a more consistent speed without weather/outdoor anomaly(s).
I recommend Comelec over all the providers in the Dubuque area (depending where you live).
I normally don't spend time doing reviews but all i can say is what an amazing company! Excellent customer service! Fast internet with no limit on data....I have been a long time customer and I can tell you when I had my first hiccup I called ComElec and they sent a service tech out the next day at 9am...and Chris Samms went above and beyond the call of duty. Not only did he double my internet speeds but he explained what I needed to do to get my computer and voip phone up to date... he also pointed out that i did not need the wifi extenders and they were more hassle than anything(thanks a lot best buy!) 65.69 mbps download and 31.97 mbps upload...who could ask for more?

I called this evening with problems connecting to the internet. It was after hours, I left my number with the company voicemail and I recieved a call in about 30 min. Colby with Comelec was able to troubleshoot our issue and easily walk me though how to get it fixed!!
We decided to switch service due to losing signal at least one a month and decided to try Comelec. We've had it for 4 months now and haven't had any issues and the Internet is fast!
The signal at our old house on the North end of town seemed to have a lot of issues. Inconsistent speeds and a lot of dropped service. HOWEVER, their customer service team and techs are the BEST. We recently moved to Asbury and are waiting for service to be setup at the new house. I'm told by neighbors that the signal is fantastic in that area. I definitely recommend Comelec over the other providers in DBQ. The only one in town that doesn't have an automated answering system! UPDATE: It's been 6 months and service has been great. We have no problem streaming music and video from multiple devices simultaneously.
Comelec is a great company, their customer service is excellent. If you have a problem they are fast at helping to find the problem and are there as soon as a tech is available, which is usually within a few hours. Totally recommend for anyone that does not have them to seriously think about switching!
Nick came to install service at my townhome. After talking Comelec for about 10 minutes, I told him I was unsure of going forth with the installation as I might be moving out of the state in a couple months. He was very professional, friendly, and understanding with my sudden switch. Although I don't have Comelec (for the time being), I will always remember what a GREAT experience I had with one of their employees. Called to setup new service multiple days. I was told they would contact me that day to setup scheduling for new service. Been over a week no contact, so I called again and told I would receive another phone call today. No counting on that call if they don't deliver I will just find another company to service my needs.
Running 3 mbps speed and it crashed and took them 2 days to bring back internet. I've had them for not even a month so far not impressed
Recently had their fiber internet service installed! So much better than MediaScam!
3x faster and 20% cheaper, no stupid data caps, no deceptive introductory pricing, and no contracts.
Oh, and no throttling on the upload speed - you get just as much upload as download speed. MediaScam only gives you about 10% of your download speed.
Customer service is light-years ahead of any other ISP I've ever used.
Have had this for about four months now and there is NO COMPARISON to the other (major) isp we have had before! Excellent service and fast speeds. I highly recommend this company for internet service.

The customer service at Comelec is one of the best. You can call at any time leave a message and someone (a real person) will call you back. Sometimes even the owner. They usually resolve any issues we have to the best of their abilities.
We have had 0 issues and have had amazing internet speed and depedibility! We have had them as our internet provider for over a year and have had an awesome experience and the price is hard to beat!
Well first I would like to say that we have had services with Comelec at multiple locations as we had to have our services moved which was more to move the service than the monthly fees that we pay for service and I understand the whole moving the services from one place to another can be a hassle but that was really nothing to the money we had to pay for them to put a Tri-Pod up on the new places roof for us to get service. We were never informed of the charges about a Tri-Pod needing to be installed and the payment had to be paid up front in full for us to even get service. (It was a $78 moving fee added to the bill and the Tri-Pod was a $200 up front paid in full before services could be restored at the new place which really sucked a lot as we had already spent a lot on just moving to begin with.) But the customer support received other than the whole Tri-Pod issue has been great they are always willing to do whatever they can to make sure that we continue to get the speeds and reliability that we are paying for and the weather here which these last few months have been pretty terrible with all the snow and icy rain the services never went out on us at all. The bottom line is if your looking for reliable internet services then you can look no further than right here with Comelec, I wont be looking for another internet provider again so long as they continue to keep doing what they are doing right now. It will be even better if and when they make it my way with the fiber optics as it will only provide me with even better speeds and reliability which has been flawless so far!

Edit: thank you to the owner for the help. A tech stopped out and got things working. Still a little torqued at the gentleman who initally felt the need to inform us to wait till monday, but who knows maybe his day was worse than mine!

Pretty fast speeds for how far i am away from the the tower, reliable in hard rainy weather. They call you back anytime you call them, they treat you like a real customer and not just a number. Would recommend to anyone looking for a decent priced no data cap internet provider.

Installed on Friday, May 8, 2015. So far we love it! We have watched a couple of tv programs & videos & have also played some games with no stalling of service. We have used multiple devices at the same time & again no stalling. We also did not have any issues when it was raining yesterday & would have issues with this with the hotspot that we had previously. We are very pleased & love that the low cost with unlimited data! This area is in need of this service! Thank you for being here!

Waited about 2 weeks to have the internet installed just to find out they couldn't provide service at my house (and I'm not located in the middle of nowhere). I'm sure they provide great internet...unfortunately I wouldn't know.
Wireless clients were dropping off WiFi (connected but no automatic DHCP server IP address renewal). We were having to manually disconnect and reconnect to pull an IP address from the router. Needed service and received a call back within two hours. Asked for and received newest firmware update for the router and everything is now running smoothly. Also was put on a different WAN access point for the dish so hopefully the signal doesn't drop out in the rain. That issue may be partially related to a tree weakening the signal but everything seems very consistent. Great customer service, very professional and knowledgeable.
Update: the rep did come out on Sunday to hook up my internet. Though it was not easy. Since they use a dish, he had to find a good spot to put it, and the landlord didn't want holes in the new roof. The tree was the best spot. So I now have to bury cable to hide the cable running through my yard. The house is also wired completely for cable, not their internet cable. So he had to wire the easiest to get to spot, which was in the living room right above where the cable came in the house from the basement. I now have a router in my living room instead of where I wanted it in the office. After 5 hours of a rep being at my house installing service that normally takes 30 minutes in larger cities, it may be time to upgrade your equipment Comelec to 2018 and make it easier to get your service. I've never had as a hard time getting internet as I had with you. Why do you think DIRECTV is going away from using dishes to get their customers service.
Old: It's been almost 3 weeks since I first called about internet service. It took 15 days to get a service technician out the first time. The day they were scheduled they cancelled on me. The second day I took off of work, they had to reschedule it. They didn't show up the 3rd time. Supposedly I have an appt on Sunday. If they don't show up this review goes to 1 star. If they get it hooked up, I'll raise it. So far Comelec is failing at what they supposedly do.
When there was a problem, I got a call and a follow up call just to make sure everything was fixed from what they did. Excellent internet speeds and even better customer service. Couldn't recommend enough.
Download speeds are terrible... took me 24 hours+ to download a 88gb game, I have an Xbox X wired with ethernet to the WiFi.... compared to what friends have they had the game downloaded that night... big fart noise from me
Awful awful experience with them. Hours on the phone trying to troubleshoot my slow/choppy connection. Refused several times to send someone to look the at wiring as they did not want to admit fault on their end. Ended up cancelling due to how troublesome it became. Would avoid at all costs.
Best internet provider in the tri state area. We have 3 kids and everyone can be online or gaming with no lag time.The price is lowest you will find.

Great customer service (Comcast take notes) as well as a very skilled and helpful Tecs to help you fix your issues. For some reason my router was not connecting properly to the tower. They fixed it a day after I even mentioned my problem.

I chose Comelec Internet Services for high speed internet at my Schoolhouse Gallery near Platteville, WI. I shopped around and had two options for providers in my market. I had dealt with the other provider before and there service speeds were bad but their customer service was even worse. We have had an amazing experience with Com Elec. There service has been 2nd to none!
